Food is good. They seem to allow any dress in now. Steak for two is great and the bar is well stocked

This place is very beautiful on the inside. The food, not so much. I ordered the red snapper and it came so dry that I felt more moisture in the Sahara desert than I did in that fish. My salad came with a sprinkle of dressing and I have never in my life had bad tasting calamari. I don’t know how you mess up calamari, especially when it’s priced as much as kidney on the black market. My boyfriend ordered the filet mignon medium and when it arrived it was still mooing. If your like us, and your not a big wine drinker, this is not the place to go because the waiter/waitress will make you feel extremely uneducated in the wine field. I ordered red wine with my salmon and I was almost shunned to the back of restaurant. After 10 minutes of excruciating explanation of which other wine goes best with my meal, the waiter basically ordered for me. If your looking to spend $ 140 on two dinner plates that taste so bad it would make your taste buds walk off your tongue and spit, then this is the place to go. Cheers

I feel like I’m being overly kind in my rating because there were several issues with the place: 1. The hostesses were horribly unprofessional and rude. 2. We had 4 people/orders of the Sunday brunch and honestly half of the orders were inedible. The other half was decent. Nothing mind blowing. 3. We SPECIFICALLY asked for no bacon about 100 times with one of the orders and lo and behold — a huge stack of bacon. We’re not 100% they even redid our order but you can’t ever be sure. I will say — our servers were extremely kind and visited our table often. The manager came out and spoke to us to make sure we were doing fine. It seems that at least the service has gotten better since the other reviews. The food needs some work. The French toast was HUGE and definitely worth the 12? dollars. The Smoked salmon dish was decent but lacked flavor. The rest of the food was… not something I’d ever eat again.

We had a great dinner here on New Year’s Eve. The food was excellent, and the service was, too. Two managers checked on us, and the pacing was perfect even though the restaurant was clearly busy. We had the flatbread with black eyed pea hummus, shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque, steak with baby squash and mashed potato, and chocolate panna cotta. I’ll be back!

Every time I have gone to Cullen’s. I have enjoyed myself. Had the chicken pasta very good, could have been hotter with more Alfredo sauce. But overall good.

Overpriced, pretentious, and tacky. Went on two separate occasions for Father’s Day brunch and a large dinner party, both times were buffet style. Food was cold and average despite extortionate prices and the quality of staff does not match the amount reflected in the bill you pay; snooty and ridiculous. Location of restaurant is confusing and in the middle of nowhere. Any restaurant that explicitly states that it is «upscale» on it’s sign certainly is not. If you are planning on spending money for a nice dinner, make the drive downtown for far better food and a quality(authentic) experience. It’s not to be wasted here, where it feels overly-produced, synthetic, and super-sized.

I have DJ for an event and the staff was amazing and very helpful. I have also been a customer for brunch on Sundays, dinner in the main room and the burger room. Each area was classy and very enjoyable. Wife and I attended the Don Julio event hosted by Cullen and it was amazing. This place is all green as well. Pricey but worth every penny.

Not so great a meal here. We were here for brunch. The eggs were cooked well but were trumped by the bland shrimp and blob of grits. The gravy on the chicken fried steak tasted like it had cheese in it. We asked the waiter who told us how gravy is made(duh.). I figured out later that it was made with buttermilk hence the sour taste and yellow specks. The mashed potatoes also tasted sour. I sure hope this restaurant management gets the problems worked out so we can continue supporting them.

Seems like there is no communication with sales and managers. Had my girlfriends birthday earlier this year and they shorted us some cake balls(which we had to order and couldn’t bring our own). We had to wait for them to make new ones, which weren’t really great and were made in a rush. Also one of the staff lost a friends debt card during checkout and could never find it. She had to cancel her card and get a new one. On top of that, they had no DJ. We specifically choose this place so we can drink and not have to drive anywhere to go party. The sales lady confirmed that there will be a DJ that night. After the dinner, there was no party or DJ to be found. Luckily I didn’t drink anything and was a DD for everyone. Food is OK, but way overpriced. I’ve been here before and had better service, but after that innocent, I don’t think I will come again.

My sister’s birthday dinner was here. I loved the food and drinks. I had a steak and lobster mac and cheese, it was phenomenal. The bar is very nice/fancy with TVs that have games on. The staff was very nice as well.

I’ve been meaning to stop by and try the new chef and general manager… I’d absolutely love to see Cullen’s back up to where they were in the beginning. They have such a great place and awesome kitchen, they deserve a quality team and reputation – I’ll be dining there soon and hope to update this review.

Pricey. The menu looks appealing. I got the pan seared red snapper on top of a vegetable purée, topped with greens and sautéed heirloom carrots. As soon as my snapper arrived I smelled a fishy smell. I was skeptical and tasted the snapper. It was bland. I told the waiter that the snapper smelled fishy. Anyone that knows how to cook fish and how it should taste knows that fish should NEVER smell or taste fishy. I told the waiter that the fish needed citrus like freshly squeezed lemon, lime or orange to cut the fishy smell prior to cooking it. He kind of nodded like Ok sure… I’ll tell the Chef. I doubt that he did. My date had a vegetable entrée. Topped with a bunch of greens over sautéed vegetables with forbidden rice(black rice) on the side. I’ve been here 4 times in the past 3 years. It used to be a good place to relax and eat 3yrs ago. They’ve changed their chef… again and have a new general manager. It’s pricey for the food. If you aren’t into paying for the surroundings and the ambience of the place, I would skip this place. It has fallen off big time. There are better food choices around Houston. Check out my photos. Pay attention to our entrees. Look at all of that green garnish crap all over our dishes. I’ll take a good reasonably priced dining experience with great food than this«upscale traditional American food» To Hell with the fluff. Either your food is really good or it isn’t.

We have been here many times, but I have to say that this last visit was the best! Our server, Joe A, was over the top exceptional! This gentleman was so professional, knew his wine list, explained the menu, and knew the history of this family owned restaurant! Cullen’s is the finest restaurant around the Clear Lake/Pasadena area! We never have great service there so we stopped coming. After tonight, meeting Joe and Mario, the GM, we will definitely be returning!!! Shockingly, last night was a private party outside w/Tracey Byrd performing. We weren’t part of that but just really impressed. The Muntz family owns this exquisite environment with such ambiance and class. The way Mr. Muntz developed this place is quite interesting. The new menu starts this week with a new chef on board. I cannot wait to return. This place has a very romantic atmosphere and just screams classy!!! Must see!!! Just FINE! Thanks Joe for making it a great night!

I normally do not write reviews. But the service we received at Cullen’s last night was some of the worst service I have ever had ANYWHERE. I can go to chick-fil-a and get better service! We went on a Saturday night and were surprised to see an almost empty parking lot and just as empty restaurant when we arrived… now I understand why. The waitress came over after we sat down relatively quickly(she didn’t tell us her name, didn’t wear a name tag and her name wasn’t on the ticket, so I can’t comment on who she was)… we had looked the menu up online so we knew what we wanted and ordered right away. But after we ordered it’s like our waitress forgot we were there. We finished our drinks then the food runner brought our food out(pretty quickly after we ordered). We glanced around to see if we could find our waitress to refill our glasses so that we would have something to wash our food down with… but she was no where to be found. We ate our entire meal constantly glancing around for her… and she just never showed up. We sat there… with our empty plates in front of us and parched mouths for another 10 minutes until I started thinking that she had to have had some sort of family emergency or something. It had been 30 – 40 minutes since we had seen her… so there was no other explanation I could rationalize. Realizing that we would have to fend for ourselves my boyfriend set out with our empty glasses in hand to try and find someone who could fill them. He went to the empty bar… the manager was behind it and never bothered to turn around and acknowledge my boyfriend. After standing there for about 5 minutes our waitress appeared at the bar! She was unapologetic and filled the empty glasses for him. My boyfriend brought our drinks back to the table… the waitress came by about 10 minutes later. Our meal came with a dessert so she took our dessert order. I won’t go into every painful detail… but it took another 45 minutes of us sitting and waiting from the time we ordered dessert to the time we got our bill. The experience was beyond painful. We were there for almost 2 hours total … even though we had ordered and finished our meals in the first 30 minutes… I do not care if we were offered free meals at Cullen’s… free food would not be worth the frustratingly painful experience that we encountered. I ordered the scallops. While they were cooked very well and tasted good. I was still hungry after I finished. It was 4 small/medium scallops served over about 2 scoops of rice. Yummy, but not enough for a meal. The restaurant itself was seemed to not be maintained well. Knats swarmed our food as we ate. I went to the ladies room. Went to a stall and realized that the lock was missing … so I went to the next stall. There were ants on the floor so I hurried up. Went to the first sink… no soap. So I moved over to the next sink to wash my hands. I went to reach for a towel to dry my hands but there were none in the entire bathroom. So I returned to my table with wet hands. Please save your money and your sanity and eat somewhere else… ANYWHERE else.

Went back after a long break from Cullens and the menu had changed a bit. I really enjoyed the new menu, but miss some of the dishes I was used to… I just probably need to go more often and try them all… The seabass was delicious and possibly my favorite dish there, service was excellent and the atmosphere as always is TOP-Notch.

Where to begin, let’s start with the delicious cinnamon rolls that we had to start our brunch, when we arrived out waiter told us they only make 15 so we immediately ordered 2 for our party of 8, we loved them and would def order again. The food was exquisite as usual, can’t wait to be back !! Please try the : Cinnamon rolls Arnold Palmer Can’t go wrong !!

Really excellent food. And, all things considered, reasonably priced. The building itself, inside and out, is very nice. Staff are friendly and helpful. Bar area was comfortably upscale. Nice, yet welcoming. I had the prime rib and lobster. Both were great. The nightly specials can’t be beat. Quite the deal. All in all I was impressed. Definitely up for a return trip.

This place was much nicer than I expected. It’s a restaurant on the right and a bar on the left. The bar side has plenty of sitting and a bar menu to explore while waiting for your table. We ended up just eating by the bar since the wait for a table was like 20 or 30 minutes. The bar side was really nice and comfortable. We sat at a table with two leather benches? Loveseats? whatever. I ordered the lemon drop martini and my friend ordered red wine. The bar tender who served us was really nice and made great drinks. We ordered shrimp tempura and thai chicken strips, which were both really good. I also really liked the sea food campechana. We actually hung out there for a while mostly enjoying our drinks. There are tv’s on that side showing sports. I am definitely going back for actual dinner soon, but meanwhile I was pleasantly surprised with the place and would definitely recommend. P. s. Their happy hour is until 11pm on Thursdays. I am also planning a Thursday visit!

First off let me start this review by saying this. Cullen’s restaurant is a beautiful building and our server was great! I’m somewhat a food snob and cook. Ok, so my husband made reservation for 9 of us Sunday, Father’s Day at 2pm. We arrive to Cullen’s to be seated at huge round table with white linens. Our server comes to the table and starts to explain the bunch. He gives us a tour and we proceeded to walk into a very large room with buffet tables. I’m a huge seafood fan. So, I went straight for the table with snow crab legs and shrimp. Which I would have to say were gross. The crab was obviously frozen and never streamed. The crab tasted my sponge, very salty, and some were still frozen. The shrimp were ok, but not fresh. They offered a varied of foods. Here’s what I tried in small quantities. BBQ Chicken with cream grits — The chicken looked like chicken strips. Grits didn’t have much taste. Caesar Salad with chicken — The salad had to be sitting there a while. It wasn’t fresh at all. The lettuce was very welted. Prime Rib Roast — Was Awesome! Perfectly cooked, tender, and a lot of flavor. Only down fall, they ran out of it and it took forever for them to serve it again. Potato Salad — No flavor and it was hot. Corn — Interesting with not much taste. It had pearl onions and whole garlic in the mix. Crab– Spongy & frozen — did not serve with drawn butter Shrimp — Not fresh Salmon — Was quite tasty and pretty good Breakfast — Wasn’t anything to brag about Ribs — Were dry and over cooked My entire party was very unhappy with our lunch. The food wasn’t fresh. They had a dessert station that someone managed. I saw that they had chocolate molting cake with ice cream. I thought yes, maybe this will redeem this place. Oh heck no! I go over to ask for the chocolate molting cake. The girl tells me they are out of ice cream. I said, okay will you be serving anymore. Her comment is I would have to go find some. Find some? Wouldn’t that be in the freezer? I told her never mind. BUT, the most upsetting part of this whole experience at Cullen’s Father’s Day Bunch. We paid $ 50.00 per person, spending a total of $ 460 bucks. Then to top it off. Our entire family got sick. I DONOT recommend this place at all. Don’t let the beautiful building deceive you. This was nothing but a Golden Corral in a fancy building with white table clothes.

Came here for lunch, a treat from my bosses. We had a party of 6. We were seated in the main dining area next to the kitchen. Right away, 2 co-workers noticed a weird mildew like smell. We just had a flood last night so I didn’t think too much of it. I couldn’t smell anything. We got our drinks promptly. 1 person ordered a soup. While we were all waiting and that one person was eating, I asked for bread. The waiter said no quickly, not before 4. …thought that was weird/awkward. I was at Cullen’s last year for lunch and we got bread. Our food came out and 1 complaint. My co-worker ordered a salad and asked for crackers. The waiter was quick to say no again. Then stopped midway and said well, let me go see. He came back with a few crackers on a plate. They were more like a dessert cracker than a light cracker you’d eat with salad or soup. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Very tasty. Came on top a bed of mashed potatoes and garlic spinach. After dinner we all had coffee and dessert. I had the dulce de leche cheesecake and all I can say is DELISH! Not too sweet. Very tasty. …HOWEVER — they have very weird and unusual spoons. Anyone that uses one will know what I’m talking about. They’re more like a soup spoon. They have a little cup to the spoon. Very hard to eat dessert with. They’ve done some remodeling. We were on a time crunch so I didn’t get a chance to check it out. I’d like to try happy hour soon. I’ll re-post when I do.
