D F Food Store has a great beer and wine selection at an acceptable marked up price for it being a convenience store. The employees are always friendly and it is very conveniently located in my neighborhood. They are not getting a 5th star from me today because of late I have noticed an increasing presence of men hanging out in the parking lot drinking in the afternoons. It is a random mix of what appears to be men just getting off work and hanging out together and homeless men sort of camped out. I know that there are signs on the door stating that the consumption of alcohol is illegal on the premises but this is not enforced. I understand that these are regular customers of the store because I see the same faces there everyday. It doesn’t bother me too much when I go there with someone else but the last time I went alone I was harassed by a homeless guy as I was both entering and exiting the business so I no longer go there if I am alone. If they could clean up that issue I would change my star rating.

This is just a down and dirty convenience store. Absolutely no frills. The only thing that is top shelf here is the beer and the wine. The beer selection boggles my mind for a little store. The wine selection surprised me as well for both the variety and the prices. It is only a few dollars more than HEB. Not bad for a convenience store. They have a wide assortment of phone cards to call south of the border if that suits your fancy, and they have some sort of gaming machines in the back. I have yet to use them, as they are not quite Vegas quality. As far as actual food, think prepackaged gas station. But if you are looking for good beer to go, this is the only place in the neighborhood with a decent selection.
