The first time I came here I wasn’t a fan because I went outside the box and ordered something that combined Indian cuisine with American and I didn’t even finish my plate. The second time, I just stuck with mysore masala dosa and it was good! I like how the sambar and chutney were self serve, and they weren’t too spicy.

I have had the pleasure of working in a place where the catering crew was from chennai, so I am familiar with first rate dosa… and this gem measures up. Service is friendly and attentive, with sambar and two chutneys available from a self serve station. The medu vadas were hot, fresh, and delicately spiced without a hint of grease or heaviness. Both the coconut kurma dosa and the Punjabi chole dosa were spot on — crispy, with hot, fresh, beautifully spiced filling. We wi be back for sure!

I went to DGN Factory for lunchtime on a weekday. They were offering their lunch special from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and it included any one dosa, any one idli, and any one soft drink for only $ 8.99. Since it was my first time coming here, I went with the normal Masala Dosa(dosa with potato, green peas, onions, carrot, and tempering), the Idli(steamed rice cake), and a Coke. This is a great price for the amount of food offered at lunchtime in the Galleria area. After ordering, there was a self-serving station where you could get all-you-can-eat sambar(lentil-based vegetable stew), as well as a coconut and tomato chutney. I chatted up with Priya, one of the marketing managers of DGN Factory, and she informed me that this location had been open for 3-years, and they have other locations around the city. After paying, I was given a number, and sat down to wait for my food to be served. The food came out within a few minutes, and I dug in. The dosa and the idli met my expectations. I will definitely come back for lunch, as it’s a good price for a quick bite to eat. What to order: –Lunch Special($ 8.99) served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Pros: –Value –All-You-Can-Eat sambar –Private parking lot Cons: –None

Dosa was made well but not for a place specializing in dosa, idli and vada alone. Chutneys looked good but tasted otherwise. Highly disappointed. Place was tidy though. This isn’t the pride of South India, folks would be repelled if they came in here with that expectation. Even the manchurian idli was dense and tough to eat.

Decided to try this place out since my boyfriend’s dad is vegetarian, and they have multiple locations, which means they have to be doing something right. Right?! Steamed Idli — the steamed idlis can taste very boring and bland since it’s a huge piece of rice cake. however, dip a small piece in the unlimited sambar and you’re good to go! I recommend ordering the mini ones(idlilittles) instead. It’s the exact same but mini. Samosa — these were delicious especially with the accompanying chutneys(I preferred the green). The outside was crispy but flaky with a light mashed potato like filling. I could eat this as an entrée if I wanted to! Masala dosa — I wanted to stick with a traditional dosa to see what the hype was about. When the dish came out, I was shocked to see how large the dosa was. I ended up tearing most of the outside off and eating the filling with the«crêpe.» The filling’s texture was similar to the samosa. I probably would not order this again because the other dosas have more to offer. Falafel dosa — I really enjoyed this dosa. It tasted almost similar to a pita with falafel and hummus with the cucumber yogurt sauce. Noodle dosa — Although I did not get to try this one because I was so full, my boyfriend said this one was his favorite. The noodles were interestingly orange so it looked like it was filled with carrots instead of noodles. Mango lassi — perfect dessert/drink to end your meal. Not very artificial tasting but a tad bit sweet. I would recommend this restaurant to both vegetarians and meat lovers. My boyfriend’s dad, my boyfriend, and I all enjoyed each dish. TIPS: 1) If item on the menu says NO O/G and you prefer no onion and/or garlic, you must notify the cashier when ordering. 2) Get extra chutney to dip your various orders in. Some tastes better with different dishes. YUM! 3) If you’re going with a group, order different dosas and share family style. 4) 1 dosa is usually enough for 1 person

Finally had a chance to try this place! I first had dosas in SF years ago and was hooked. Tried a few mediocre places in Houston after that, but this was by far one of the best. It’s not fancy, but I like it! Not only was the food great, but service was wonderful as well. We came in for lunch, so took advantage of the lunch special. Not a huge fan of idli’s but the dosas and samosas made up for it! We had a masala dosa and then a palak paneer one. They were pretty different but both great. The complementary soup was spicy, but good. There’s also 2 kinds of chutney that you can get as well. While we were eating, the marketing manager also came by and introduced herself. Apparently they can do catering at your office where they make the dosas right there, which is pretty cool! They also can do box lunches too.

I loved the dosa and the service. Its fun to try traditional dosas as well as non traditional like manchurian dosa.

Did I come in at a bad time or something? It was 1pm and it took over 40 minutes for a paneer dosa. It was actually ready sooner but no one bothered to grab the food and tell me. The staff are all young and inexperienced and considering this is an Indian establishment it’s strange to see pimply, fresh out of highschool blonde dudes working there. Maybe the owners daughter or someone was manning the register but she didn’t know what was going on. I live .1 mile away and by the time I got home the dosa was just soggy and very greasy. Nope never again

The dosas are delicious here, but I would suggest ordering the traditional ones rather than the innovative and fancy ones, which are not that good. The white coconut chutney is awesome and that is one of the things that will bring us here again. Highly recommended for vegetarian and south Indian cuisine enthusiasts.

Placing my order here was probably one of the friendliest encounters i’ve had at a casual dining restaurant. The gentleman talked to us about the restaurant itself and was incredibly helpful in explaining all the items and making recommendations. We ended up with an order of manchurian that was delicious and a bhaji dosa which was filling and flavorful. The only con was the chai was quite watery, but I would definitely return!

Quantity was a little on the less side, and the prices are pretty reasonable as well. Taste wise it was excellent(a little less on the heat though), but I sadly think that one of the three things I ate(the chettinad dosa, the garlic chutney or the sambar) was not fresh and had been sitting for a while.

Yum! I started with an order of 10 mini steamed rice cakes(Idli Littles) which comes with a coconut chutney and sambar. These were the perfect counterpoint to an appetizer of samosas, which packed a kick and were oh sooooo gooood. For the main course I ordered the masala dosa, which appears to be one of their signature dishes. It was full of flavor — a real delight. The service was friendly, and the restaurant was stylish. I will definitely return to explore the menu.

Dosas or Indian crepes? Whatever they call it, this is a good place for fresh and flavorful food. I am by no means a traditional dosa fan, but I definitely liked the ones stuffed with paneer instead of the usual mashed potato fare. The chili-infused paneer dosas? Just about perfect. This location is handy, and the look is bright and modern. They don’t pipe in Indian music, which was not surprising considering the«crêpe» branding. Not that DGN isn’t legit: they make great dosas with adventuresome ingredients for a reasonable price.

I came here with a friend for lunch and we both ordered the lunch special, which is an amazing deal. $ 9.99 for any dosa and any idli on the menu plus a fountain drink! Their lunch special was big enough to feed me for 2 meals. My friend had the chili paneer dosa and manchurian idli. I ordered the chili paneer dosa and vaghar idli. We were both thrilled with our chili paneer dosas! The manchurian idli has more flavor and is more delciious than the vaghar idli, though. The sambar and the chutneys were delicious. Despite the fact that I came here on an empty stomach I couldn’t finish my meal. I could only finish half a dosa! When I ate the second half two days later, it wasn’t as delicious but still very good. My friend and I agreed that we would’ve been happy sharing a single lunch special. We were both stuffed after our meals.

As a South Asian who craves dosas often, I was excited to try this place out. We walked in and the owner immediately greeted us. He asked us if this was our first time here and since it was, he explained how dgn works. Then he gave us suggestions on different dosa options, considering the fact that we aren’t a fan of spicy food. If you aren’t familiar with the restaurant, you order a dosa up front. Then you can pick up as much sambar and chutney at the side as you want. I wasn’t a fan of the paneer dosa that I ordered. It had too much cheese for my personal taste, which I guess I should have figured just by the name. It also got soggy towards the end of my meal. The two chutneys and sambar were both tasty. Next time, I think I will just try the masala dosa to see how dgn really compares to other restaurants. There is ample parking outside. We showed up on Valentine’s day night, and the restaurant was mostly filled with Indian families(a lot of loud children). But the place feels very modern and clean. Overall, a cool concept for a good price!

This is the indian food, at its finest, for a fast food joint. This will not replace my usual Indian restaurants but it is a great addition to my list when I am on the go. You can get plenty of better tasting dosas but for the price and as a fast food alternative, this joint fits the bill. They have a selection of dosas, idlis, vadas, as well as customizing your own dosas. The flavors are very typical to indian cuisine. You can definitely get better tasting dosas and probably more authentic elsewhere. I recommend trying this place if you have never tasted any of the above mentioned items. This was my first time trying vadas and idlis, I am looking forward to trying them in a non fast food setting. Definitely stop by if you are on the go and want a quick fast food option.

I want to like this because they have so many different types of dosas and I’m usually intrigued by fusion foods, but I guess I like my traditional dosas cause this place just didn’t do it for me. Their sambar and chutneys just didn’t taste right. They were okay, but they didn’t taste authentic. To the normal person who is open to new tastes and not that familiar with dosas, this may be a great place, but the two dosas that I tried did not really seem like dosas at all. This place is okay, maybe next time I’ll try the normal masala dosa, or else go for something completely out there like the Manchurian dosa. I can’t quite remember the name of the dosa I had and the menu is not online for me to jog my memory, but I think one had cauliflower carrot medley in it, and the other may have had some saag paneer(spinach and cheese) and was already soggy immediately upon serving. Will not go out of my way to go back, but may try it again in the future.

What’s in the name? but unfortunately this place seems to have lost its charm with its name change from dosa factory to dgn factory. I overheard some people talking they faced a lawsuit from the real brand dosa factory so had to stop using their name. I still kept an open mind and wanted to savor mumbai street style dosas. This time, lot of stuff was different. The name, definitely the staff, the taste of sambar(actually better), the dosas were not half as good. The overall model and the ambiance is still the same, still the same unlimited sambar and chutney. BUT the dosa batter seemed very different this time. The dosas were not at all thin and crisp but thick, soggy and heavy. I got the cheesy spring dosa and tasted like a cheese omelette, really, I couldn’t even finish it. It was soggy and had way too much cheese. The chettinad and pav bhaji dosas were decent but again the crêpe texture was thick and heavy. The staff was the biggest disappointment. The servers didnt understand English, and were mixing up orders. They mixed up at least 3 orders in front of me. They take the wrong dosa to the table, people refuse, they take it back in the kitchen and then bring it out again after 5 – 10 mins(COLD) and serve it to someone else. Another mistake, they gave us chili paneer dosa when we just asked for chilli paneer — then refused to give refund or take it back saying«we cannot refund, system is down!» which was bull shit. Tried their samosas, I get better in Austin — which is a shame. Moreover, the serving staff was also cleaning the tables with glass cleaner — NOTCOOL. Anyways, I am not going back there until they get their taste sorted out like before. Until then, there must be better dosa places in Houston — message me if you have a recommendation, have two more trips coming up.

Dosa me crazy! I’m not going into what a dosa is since you’re reading this review, I’m assuming that you have knowledge. That being said, this place is amazing! Why? It’s a fast food dosa café that’s super GOOD, semi authentic(they have a pizza dosa), and it’s incredibly clean! They have over 30 different types of dosas… my goal is to try one a week. Wish me luck!
