Poor service(lots of attitude and not a welcoming smile or even vague acknowledgement in sight). Slightly off kegs or taps. No food truck on Tuesday nights. Beer special prices apparently only apply when it’s Tuesday on Mars, not Tuesdays in Houston. Significant patio is only feature in a good location on the bayou. Lots of car parking(no pun intended) but no bike racks despite proximity to a bike route(Houston St) and the bike path along White Oak. Who puts bathrooms upstairs in a place that serves adult beverages? Can’t think of a reason to return.

The epitome of Two2Two stars. The only thing being distilled here are expectations into disappointment. Incredibly cheap but then again so are any of the dives off Montrose and I wouldn’t have to watch MMA.

I came here for a surprise party. We had the upstairs area reserved. I don’t have much to say about this place. Our party had about 20 – 30 people and there was one bartender and one cocktail waitress for the entire bar. Getting a drink was a process! I’m not sure how many patrons were downstairs, but having two staff members for an entire bar on a Saturday night doesn’t seem very smart. I didn’t try any of the food, but I noticed that there was a food truck parked out front. Our waitress ws really sweet and she was trying her hardest to serve us quickly, but we still had to wait for awhile to quench our thirst. If they can improve the quality of service, I would probably give it another try.

As my boyfriend and I decided to wander around the neighborhood, after enjoying a visit to the pool nearby. First off, we liked the fact that it was tucked away a bit and are big fans of the huge parking lot. The deck was a nice place to chill for a bit. Since there weren’t very many people, we didn’t have much problems with service. Plus, it’s not hard to mess up an order of two beers. :) Another couple of nice features: they had cornhole and it is close to the Heights bike trail. So, it makes for a good rest stop when venturing on your bikes.

This is a Heights bar at the corner otf Houston Ave and White oak — Laid back neighborhood bar —- i usually go on a Friday when the Lords of Cool play all these 1970s &1980s tunes(no cover charge). The songs you haven’t heard forever but will remember forever. Big outdoor deck with downtown skyline views. I have never eaten there so can not comment on the food or service

Service here does not exist. How does it take 30 minutes to bring us a few draft beers and waters? We came here for a few people to try the crawfish. The crawfish is served by another company, so be ready to pay separate tabs… which really is no biggie. The crawfish were seasoned well, but they were ROOMTEMPERATURE! Additionally, yes, it does come with potatoes and corn, but for every 2.5 lbs ordered, you get one potato and you get one corn(which is about ¼ of a cob, if even). Not worth the $ 16 for the 2.5 lbs. If it’s cold, then why does it take you over 30 minutes to bring us the crawfish? If you ask for ketchup or mayonnaise, expect to wait about 30 minutes before they come out of the kitchen with a tiny glob for you. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. That wasn’t bad. Of course, they forget my fries, and says someone was bringing it out. I had to ask him again for it, and then he brings it, without ketchup. Had to wait for that too. Is it too hard or expensive to invest in ketchup bottles for each table? I guess a bottle of ketchup is just too expensive. I think a part of the problem is that this place is understaffed. 1 waitress for a Friday night? That’s why it takes 30 minutes for beer and water, and another 30 minutes for ketchup and mayo? Ridiculous. We do not plan to come back here any time soon.

Douchebags. I approached the bar at five minutes to closing time to ask if I could use the phone, only to be told they were closed. Explaining that I was somehwat stranded and my phone was dead, I was berated, threatened, and otherwise harasssed by the douchebag staff of this cream of the douchoisie bar. Typical washington/white oak moron sports bar with an attitude. Thanks for the customer service, fukstix!

Do not waste your time or money on the food. Went for a late lunch with 8 friends. Took nearly 45 minutes from the time the first item hit the table to the last. No concept of appetizers versus entrees — both chips and salsa and spinach artichoke dip didn’t come until 30 minutes after ordering, and came after some entrees had already hit the table. If I had to guess, they were cooking things one at a time on a Foreman Grill. Aside from the service, the seared tuna sandwich I had was absolutely disgusting. Quality of the fish was horrible. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were trying to mask that up with the overwhelming amount of minced garlic they put on it. I refused to eat the tuna and informed the server of my dissatisfaction only to receive a half assed apology. Distillery should REALLY consider closing down their kitchen, if you can call it that.

Having passed by so many times, I’m sorry that I actually went in. While the wait staff was very friendly, there is nothing there that would make me want to come back. The beer menu was out of date, and they were ‘out’ of any good beer that the waitress told me about.(How is a bar out of so many beers on a Friday?). — Obviously this is a Bud and Miller bar, unless you want cheap frozen drinks I guess.

A group of us came here on a Sunday afternoon post-brunch and were not disappointed. This place is very spacious and was not overly crowded(could have something to do with the fact it was a Sunday afternoon). We started out on the downstairs porch but were soon driven by the Texas sun to the upstairs porch where there is covered seating. They have plenty of TVs so the football fans in our group were appeased. I drank the frozen teas which were quite tasty. The combination of over sized jenga, electronic golf, jukebox machine, and enough space for a little two-stepping kept us happily occupied for the rest of the evening.

I would give this place no stars if I could. Service really stinks. A group of Unilocalers and I hit up this place during Unilocal Drink Week and we were greeted with a frown, got scoffed at when asking for drink menus, and left with MUCH more to desire. They have a great concept for cocktails(frozen sweet tea, screwdrivers, and margaritas) but I don’t want to feel like I am a bother at a bar. I can get that kind of attitude at home — for free. Good luck trying to find out what’s on their drink menu(besides the obvious: vodka) because the bartenders will halfway roll their eyes at you while they spew out names of drinks as though you should know what each drink contains. Really. It didn’t take long for our party bus to relocate to other venues. Hire new bartenders, Twenty 5 Twenty … so that I can enjoy your drinks without feeling like I’m a bother for paying for your products.

I’ve heard alot about this place and finally went Saturday to try it out. I WILLNEVERGOBACK!!! The management treats their employees like complete trash which I thought was very disrespectful. At one point out waitress even started crying, how they keep employees at this bar is beyond me! After trying several drinks, the only one worth getting is the frozen sweet tea vodka drink; don’t even think about the Blueberry Dream I think it is, it’s terrible… and the one drink we just flat out refused to drink and send back, they still made us pay for. The food we tried was also just as bad… the nachos and chips and salsa are generic tostito type corn chips with the canned cheese poured over the top, SUPER salty and not worth $ 7-$ 10. You can much better food at Taco Bell and that’s saying alot! My overall impression of the bar is poor, not very busy, and would not recommend it to anyone.

First and last time to visits this establishment. They treat their employees like sh*t and I wont go back to a place like that. After our waitress made the honest mistake of telling us the wrong drink specials(the actual fault of the manager), the only way they would fix the problem was to make the waitress pay for the difference out of her pocket. Seriously, who does that?! To the manager, you are a douche and we won’t be back.

So, I went to this spot after being emailed by Unilocal about a week of «Yelp Drinks» but did not make it down there until last night. I heard about the pizza they offer, but alas I did not eat. Got the last open spot at the bar(only about 10 – 12 spots total). Bartenders were awesome, very attentive(and cute!). I ordered a Makers’ and Sprite, it appeared as a double-tall. I did not ask that size, but it actually was not a bad pour considering I am not a regular. I shifted to beer; I was a little disappointed that St. Arnold’s was 5 $ for a pint but not caught off guard. A lot of televisions for sports, but only one behind the bar. I like the garage doors that open to the patio. DIrect air flow to the bar seats. Not to thrilled that I had to walk up stairs to the other seating area to use the restroom, but hey, in NYC I have to walk downstairs most of the times, so it is okay. I think I will be back so I can try the pizza.

I went on a day where they were short handed, but the bartender was still able to get the drinks out in a timely fashion. All I can say about this place is that if you go there you need ot try the Deep eddy’s Sweet Ice Tea drink. We each had about 2 or 3 while we were there. Good times They do have a lot of TV’s and will be able to have what ever sporting event you are wishing to watch on

I’ve been here on several occasions and truly love this place. Very relaxed atmosphere, good beer selection and friendly staff. Truly, the bartenders I’ve had were all very friendly and did their jobs well without being distracting. Good music, friendly people and great atmosphere.

I remember coming to this place(I’m sure they had a different name and owner) a few years ago and the place was completely different than what it is today. *edit* After some research(google street view), I now remember the name of the old place was Farmers Coffee. Today, it is very modern with HDTVs everywhere all showing sports. very impressive actually. I was here as part of a social networking gathering so I will have to come back and see how it is here on a normal day, but the service was great and the staff were super friendly and attentive. As I spent most of my time upstairs, Allison was doing a great job bartending. It’s one thing for the staff to be friendly to regulars on a slow night, but quite commendable that they are friendly to non-regulars when the place is packed which it was on the night I was here so they get kudos from me. With the food, I had some pizza and it was quite good(not dry) for a bar pizza. More later I’m sure.

I ventured here over the holidays, primarily because its walking distance from my house and I’m really keen on keeping up with all the activity that Houston Ave seems to be getting lately. I think of the décor as industrial chic, which means lots of cement floors, but not in a warehouse kinda way. Lots of TV’s for watching those sporting events. Decent number of tables downstairs. The upstairs patio is really nice, but not huge so recommend getting there early if you have a large group so you can hijack as many tables as you see fit. The happy hour prices are really good, but in my opinion they need to get more beers on tap. They have a few usual staples of the trade, but need more to appease my tastes. More=more microbrews and not more varieties of piss and piss-light. Because I can walk here, and because they have good happy hours, and because they renovated a corner that really needed it, I give them 4 stars. I would give them a 5 if their kitchen would make good nachos. This is Texas. Why can’t anyone make good nachos? Squeeze cheese is not the answer to good nachos unless you’re at the ball park. I want real cheese. With jalapenos. Lettuce. Tomato. Fresh salsa. Why can’t anyone do that? Its a simple recipe. Since they can’t make good nachos which requires no cooking per se, I can only assume the rest of the cooked products coming out of the kitchen are meh.

Perched precariously on a man-made hill op on the corner of Houston Ave and White Oak, «Distillery» Twenty 5 Twenty is a new addition to the night life of the Heights. Despite it’s name this place is not in fact a distillery, which is a bummer and slightly false advertising. You might also be wondering to yourself: Why is it a precarious location, Allison? Glad you asked, stranger. You see this particular intersection floods like a mo-fo during any type of tropical happening and also just generally during a Houston downpour. This was my biggest concern when I saw the place being built, but it appears that the proprietors did in fact think about this issue. The first floor has concrete floors and movable furniture. When you get to the stairs you notice the upgrades like nice slate tile on the stairs and patio. Bathrooms and I believe kitchen are on the second floor as well(smart.). While there, I had the«frozen» that was on special which is similar to the Creeks’ Country Ass Ice Tea, but much, much better. I thought it was really good and at $ 3 a pop during HH a good value as well. They seemed to have a decent beer selection although our waitress, though very sweet, did not know any of them. I didn’t eat the food, but what was coming to the tables around us looked like«slightly better than bar food» food. Overall this place is aight in my book and is a nice place to have a Happy Hour or catch a game.

As a new spot in the ‘Historical Heights’ — this is a very welcome addition to the area. «Simple and clean is the way» this bar is with great drink specials, very decent drink selection and variety, friendly staff, and plenty of televisions if you would like to watch the game. There’s a cozy upper level patio, and a soon to be open outside bar too. I went on a Tuesday night, there was $ 2 domestics bottle and draft, $ 4 wine specials, and $ 3 frozens. They’re just getting off their feet(opened Thanksgiving weekend) but this place is going to be a new go-to bar of mine!
