DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston – Greenway Plaza

There are no microwaves in the entire hotel to heat up food. Pretty frustrating when your staying long term. Alot of food went to waste because of that. The driveway into the building was poorly thought out. You pretty much have to take a whole alternate route to get in. And parking pricing is ridiculous. I wouldnt chose to stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. Clean, great rooms, nice lobby bar. A decent gym as well, and pool. The thing that stood out the most was the staff — very courteous, friendly, and helpful during my stay. The food at the lobby bar was great too. Stayed here 3 days, would come back. Only complaint was that the shower had pretty weak pressure, but that’s about it.

So disappointed by the poor customer service. After paying for a king room which is one price and showing up to the hotel only to hear oops sorry none available. Hello the double rooms price was cheaper and I prepaid !!! The lack of compassion from the front desk manager was less the par. We’ve stayed at double trees around texas in the past but this leaves a bad taste in my mouth
Editing to add I just folded my bed down and the blankets have very visible stains all over them !!! Gross

I walked up to the front desk and they told me I did not have a reservation. Soon, somebody else came over and said I did. Being a Gold HH member, I checked in online with the room they offered me… which is supposed to be a good room I assume. The site also said I was prioritized for upgrades. That didn’t make sense because the girl at the front desk said there were no upgrades or better rooms than what I had. I get to the room and it is literally the size of the bed with two or three feet around it and a motel-​looking bathroom. I went to my business meeting and when I returned, I mentioned this to the front desk before bed and they offered to get me a better room. That was an interesting comment because I was told earlier there were no better rooms available. At this point I didn’t not want to rearrange my stuff and move anyway so I stayed put, but I was definitely irritated. I am very unimpressed with this hotel and service. Typically, Doubletree hotels have been my favorite in the Hilton family.

Really disappointed told them upon check in and online that it was my gfriend and my anniversary they did nothing!!! I’m a Hilton honors member and nothing. Great location great hotel zero for service.

This was the second time I stayed at the DoubleTree — Greenway Plaza, and I feel comfortable writing this positive review. The front desk staff is extremely professional. The valet staff are quick. The bartenders at the bar, especially Ms. Connie, are friendly and nice. The rooms are well equipped and the beds are comfortable. This has definitely become my favorite hotel in Houston.

Rooms are pretty good. Clean, well maintained. The valet parking is 30 $. There is no self parking. They welcome you with a warm cookie. So delicious!
But if you are a vegetarian, don’t order food from the restaurant. I ordered vegetarian pasta and Mac and cheese. Both of them had ham in it. I believe Mac and cheese comes with ham and it was my mistake that I didn’t clarify explicitly. But for pasta it was clearly a mistake. I was told on phone that this was going to be vegetarian, and clearly it looked like a piece of ham fell down by mistake. I had to throw most of the food out. Its very expensive food to throw out!
If food is not a constraint, this is not a bad place to stay.

I would sum up my experience at the DoubleTree as frustrating. The location is good – it’s easy to find – but the driveway to get in is a pain and the signs are confusing. If you enter the parking garage, leave a trail of bread crumbs so you can get out. Thank goodness I wasn’t driving or I would probably still be going in circles.
The front desk folks were extremely nice and professional, but it was aggravating to not have a room available for hours through the afternoon. I finally told them to please downgrade my room, just so I could have one, as I had an appointment and I really needed to unpack and freshen up.
The room was a corner one on the fourth floor. The space was quite nice. The outlets I tried worked, as did the hair dryer (an issue at many hotels). I did find several blood stains on the bedding, and it’s not like I was even looking. Some trash was left in a trash can, too. Since the place was totally booked up – the reason for my wait for a room – I guess they really rushed to get it ready at all.
My room was at the very end of a hall so I was surprised at how noisy it was. The walls were very thin. I could also hear noise from the street. I slept quite poorly.
The office center’s printer didn’t work to print my airline boarding pass and the staff couldn’t fix it. However, they invited me to use a front desk computer and that worked just fine. Again, despite other issues, but the people there were great.
There always seemed to be a taxi out front, too, so it was easy to get around town as needed. (Just to note, it’s $ 70 – 80 for a taxi to Bush airport.)
Also… the cookie they offer at check-​in is quite delicious. I say that as home baker who is very picky about the cookies I like.

Hilton Honors member. Made a reservation 2 months prior., called ahead to confirm king bed. Got walked to a double x 2 rooms. After a little work at the front desk, one king magically became available. I know this game… I got the better rate so I suffer the poorer room option. That’s a customer service failure. I have 7 more visits to H-​Town this fall — that’s at least $ 1000 in lodging expenses, and this place just went to the bottom of the list

Stayed here for 3days, great customer service, rooms were clean and great location, you can’t really walk anywhere close by in terms of restaurants or stores because it is in a huge plaza unless you are walking to lakewood church. (l used urber) Only bad thing was I had to pay for Internet, $ 12 dollars/​day I think. Other than that I will definitely stay here again. Oh and the gym was very clean as well.

Love this place. I’m here all the time and the staff is so friendly and accommodating and the rooms are always clean and cozy. I’m not a fan of paying for parking at hotels so that is my only complaint but it’s a great location and very easy to get just about anywhere.

The hotel service, grounds, rooms and options for food are all pretty nice. What I liked that I hadn’t seen before was that they offered a $ 5 dining credit if you choice not to have housekeeping. The $ 5 credit could be used at either restaurant (including the Starbucks and room service). The option was a win/​win for hotel and guests.
What I didn’t like was the transportation situation. I knew about the parking and wifi cost because I booked directly online at the Hilton website. They fully disclosed the parking fees and that wifi would be a cost per night. I chose not to have a rental car since I was lucky enough to have a ride to the business I needed to visit but in my off the clock hours from work I wanted to visit the nearby museum area. It was just under the 3 mile radius limit, but the front desk advised me that the shuttle was run by valet. Valet told me they don’t take guests because there is too much traffic. It seemed like either way, you’re either stuck paying their parking fees or misled on the shuttle bus option. Since the hotel is not in walking distance to anything I relied on Über. By the way, a cab ride to and from the Hobby airport is $ 55. I made a deal with an Über driver for a ride for $ 20 (not inc tip) and it worked out really well.
In the end, I enjoyed my stay but I would try to stay at a hotel closer to a social scene. Especially since the shuttle let me down. I really liked the hotel, the food was okay/​good and the guest services were great. I still like the warm cookie at check in… thoughtful.

Read the review. I thought charging for parking is ridiculous. I would go else where next time. How sad.
I did call the front desk and the reason we’re being charged for parking is because it’s green ways parking garage. Still sounds ridiculous to put it on the guest and at that rate but I guess…
After speaking to walker from the front desk I received a call back, they did comp the parking due to the miscommunications. I do appreciate the customer service so I’m going to bump up the ratings. I wouldn’t call it a five star experience because i still don’t think we will return to this particular hotel. Kind of unfortunately because it’s my first time in Houston and we’ve had a blast so far and we are definitely coming back again soon but will need to find a different hotel.

Clean and Sufficient.
Rooms are spacious and clean with modern furniture and tasteful décor.
Prime location with rooms that give you ample view of the city and easy access to shopping centers and the many (many) local area restaurants. There is even an underground shops area that has a food court.
Overall, we found the front desk staff to be quite accommodating and helpful (5 stars given because I am a persnickety guest and they were quite patient with me). This hotel sets the bar high for other Doubletree hotels.

An incredibly nice looking hotel lacking a few common sense amenities.
Let me put this out there. The hotel is beautiful and the lobby, meeting rooms and bar is really nice clean and sophisticated. It has a Starbucks in the lobby which makes the morning pleasant. The gym is a little nicer than the average hotel gym but nothing to go nuts over. It’s in a great location, nothing’s more than a 15 min Über drive away. The rooms are simple and clean, what you’d expect for a doubletree.
The negatives are a bit overwhelming for 2015. Wifi is not free, it’s an additional charge and that’s just not acceptable for the price you pay for a room. Also, there’s no free parking, again something you’d expect for the price you pay to stay here. You can have you car valeted for $ 27 a day or park yourself for $ 17 a day. Just feels like they’re trying to nickel and dime you wherever they can.
Overall 3.75.

This hotel is overpriced. Shamefully over priced.
Let me tell you the reasons why.
1. There is a Starbucks in the hotel (easy access to a good coffee fix will tempt you)
2. There are tons of conference rooms
3. Access easily to downtown.
4. The rooms are semi clean.
5. Connected to Greenway Plaza
FOR THE PRICE, the rooms are really not nice, they are actually below average. The bathroom, although they attempted to make it «cute and modern» in design was entirely open to the rest of the room. Since we had a two queen bed room, privacy is needed and expected.
FIRST OF ALL, you PAY FOR PARKING. You do not have to except the Valet parking, but the price of you parking in their garage is added to your bill.
SECOND OF ALL you PAY FOR INTERNET. Come on. REALLY?
THIRD OF ALL — The toilet/​shower area is so tiny, you must go into the open bathroom area to get dressed after a shower (which is in clear view of the entry door)
We requested a handicapped room, but if my husband was in his wheelchair he wouldn’t have been able to get to the toilet, or to his bed. There is a mirror on the wall behind the entrance door, and when you step out of the teeny tiny toilet area, and you have a view of the beds in the sleeping area. No privacy.
The duvets are an icky grey. They were originally white at some point, but now they are filthy and not covered by anything but a sheet.
The refrigerator in our room was on, and hot. There were no dials to «turn it on», we got it completely out and looked at the sides and back. It was plugged in and humming.
Had I not been forced to stay in this hotel, because of an oil conference in town, and no openings anywhere, I would never had stayed here.
There are nicer accommodations for a cheaper price available around this area.
The Starbucks in the Lobby is great. Driving to one instead of wasting my money on this hotel is so much better.

I’d have a review of the actual facility, but this particular slum enjoys overbooking their rooms hours in advance, and not letting you know until you’re dog tired and trying to check into a room that doesn’t exist. Hilton my ass! Suck it.

Worst service ever. I would not advice anybody to come here. 1: they are not tentative to customers x 2: they are racist to customer income. 3. Do not accommodate to customer wants and need

I enjoyed my stay at the Houston Doubletree Hilton Greenway Hotel. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant and bar have some good selections, i especially enjoyed the fish tacos. There is a fitness center that is well equipped and clean. They also have an outdoor pool. The hotel is conveniently close to local restaurants and shops and they run a shuttle to any place within three miles free of charge. Just ask and they will take you. The shuttle also goes to the Galleria Mall on a schedule. Wi-​fi is not free however so one star off for that. Overall recommend.

The lobby is kept tidy and spotless with modernized decorations, always. The people at reception are kind as well.
I love the food here and the bar is nice as well! A little on the pricey side, but great for a quick drink fix after work with coworkers.
Watch out for valet parking. The sign for pricing confused me, as I thought I would pay about $ 8 for valet but it turned out to be $ 20 (I was parked for 30 min).
