This is not the Dun Huang Supermarket 敦煌超級市場 you remembered before it closed few years ago. It’s more like PlazAmericas Mall after Sharpstown Mall dissipated. They have NO seafood, NO fresh groceries, NO… NO… NO. However, you can find some specialty foods like dried herbs, large bags of shiitake mushrooms(5 lb for $ 50), canned food from China, bottled Chinese condiments. There are lots of frozen poultry from Simon’s(a local farmer) and froze meat in huge quantity from unknown source. This is not for general consumers. I’ve seen too many people walked away disappointed. The 2nd level is occupied by a furniture vendor, which you can find a mattress for less than $ 100. You can see the merchandise display at the window. This place is really not what you think it was. At least they kept the same name Dun Huang Supermarket, just not the supermarket merchandise. I’m not discouraging you to shop here. If you know what you want, this is a pretty good place to shop. The packaged goods from China were not covered with dusts, unlike few other grocery stores. I got some Asian spices and canned goods with no issues. But I don’t have appetite for chicken with head and feet. I can’t say they have a bathroom; you have to bring your own toilet paper. Don’t ask staff anything, they just work there.
