The only positive thing I can say about this place is that they have a great patio. Here’s what I would do to make it better… — Take the Spinach & Egg Sandwich off the menu or at least serve it fresh(see picture). Most pathetic sandwich I’ve ever seen/had. I was shocked when I saw it and so were my friends. Took a bite of it and threw it away. Too bad I already paid for it when I ordered bc I had to order a different sandwich after. — OVERPRICED. Ham & Brie Sandwich was amazing compared to the Spinach & Egg Sandwich, but definitely not worth $ 10. My friends had salads and they also made comments about it being overpriced for something very basic. — I wasn’t impressed with the watered down latte either. I can’t believe this place has so many great reviews. I won’t be back to figure it out either.

Cool hang. Seating it’s really cool. Not very noise. Parking is limited but there is parking on the street if you don’t find any in their parking lot.

EQ Heights is a perfect stop when I am taking a walk on Heights Boulevard on a pretty day. This place is beautifully dressed, like a comfortable living room, and has a fantastic porch. EQ Heights is dog friendly, and I can be dressed up, or dressed down, it all seems to be ok here. The baristas are excellent, and it always feels good here. I think all of us Heights folks agree, that this place is for locals. I like to bring my sketchbook, have a real cup of Chai, or a coffee and bring a book. You can just hang here, and it’s always comfortable. There are occasional live music performances which is always a nice surprise. EQ Heights has captured the old town feel of the neighborhood. My friends love to meet here and we all love this place.

EQ Heights makes me feel like home. It’s so warm and cozy. If you’re looking for such place, there is no need to look any further. I adore their Cubano, so delicious! Not only the drinks are great, but the barista can make it simply perfect but adding the pastries for your taste. So you can easily accompany your delicious drink with it. Delightful place. Great staff. Medium pricing. Positive experience.

I guess I have visited this place before, but it had another owner and name. It wasn’t that impressive, so I guess that’s why I don’t remember how it was called. However, EQ Heights has changed a lot since then and incarnated into a new much interesting coffee shop! What I like the most about this place is their pretty spacious patio and delicious Cubano! I don’t like when a place gets overwhelmed with some hipster crowd, but this gem isn’t disappointing! Finding free parking space may be a bit challenging, but the place is worth it!

I’ve only had the chance to visit EQ a few times, but one of those occasions just happened to be the afternoon of the third«500 Year Flood» to hit Houston in twelve months. EQ was one of the ONLY places open in town, and Kevin was the only man behind the counter. He doubled and tripled up duties as the cashier, chef, bus boy, and barista. Now THAT is dedication to both the safety of your employees and the satisfaction of your customers. Thanks Kevin! Substantively, EQ’s ambiance is incredibly relaxing. Their green tea selection is spot on, and they are generous with their free hot water. The wi-fi works great every time I’m there, and I love that almost every time I’ve stopped by, there is a really good live acoustic performance going on. Overall, EQ is a great alternative to some nearby coffee shops with uncomfortable and limited seating. I will be back.

Beautiful house-turned-to-café space with ample seating both inside and outside, quiet and clean environment, free Wi-Fi, plugs, and a small parking lot in front and back that I’ve usually been able to find a spot at! Their menu has the typical selection of espresso drinks and drip coffee($ 2.25) as well as a pecan flavored drip. Their teas come in both a large cup($ 3) and a pot($ 4.5). The drinks are a little pricier than most coffee places in Houston with a regular latte coming out to be about $ 5 with tax but hey, it’s the Heights. Notably, they are one of the few places in Houston to serve a matcha latte! My friend got it and felt that it was too milky for her taste but may be worth a try. They also offer several breakfast/brunch items and housemade pastries in case you want to meet up with a friend or camp out a little longer. I got the cranberry lemon scone at my last visit and wasn’t a fan though – tasted soft and fluffy like a muffin rather than the harder, crumbly texture I would normally expect from a scone. I would be open to trying some of the other menu items though and will update this review once doing so! Overall, one of my new favorite spots to get some work done!

I stumbled across EQ while trying to find a place to study. Most notable is its house turned coffee café atmosphere. Inside shows a comfortable and clean feeling ambiance. Outside has a patio where dogs are welcome. I ordered the pecan coffee and came out to be a few bucks which was higher than i expected. I enjoyed my time at EQ as it does offer open wifi and it has a nice feel to it. What i did enjoy the most was its vast amount of seating inside and outside .I am surprise there weren’t more people hanging around. Instead of industrial chairs and tables, EQ supplies the customers with a few couches and coffee table if you chose to do so. EQ is a perfect way to end the evening as the sun goes down. Overall a pretty average coffee house with food and snacks. Enjoy it décor and ambiance while you study.

I stumbled upon EQ today because of a friend’s recommendation. The little house can be easy to miss off of Heights Blvd because it blends with its surroundings, but don’t be mistaken it’s a gem. It’s quaint and quiet with a large patio and comfortable inside sitting. The décor is simple and the register is held up by multiple Art History books(two of which I personally own. Nice touch.) Serving coffee wine and beer with a cute selection of food and desserts, EQ is delicious and calm for a coffee bar. I did not get anything but a coffee and apple my two companions each got a small breakfast sandwich that looked delicious and a good proportion. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. The porch allows for dogs while providing a large amount of seating. The restrooms are small and personal and very well cleaned. I would definitely frequent this place.

You may have visited EQ Heights under a different name and different owners, but the new incarnation of the coffee shop is right on point. EQ is an old house fashioned into a coffee shop. I usually get a cubano and sit on their spacious patio. The inside has plenty of room as well to sit. The coffee is great and it doesn’t have the hipster crowd as some of the others in the area. Parking can be a challenged sometimes but I usually find a spot in the tiny parking lot in back. It has become my favorite coffee spot.

I’m so glad this location finally found a coffee shop that works. This is the 3rd(that I know of) coffee shop that has opened in this specific location. I always wondered why those places just never succeeded. Waldo’s(the previous location) had a very weird interior that always confused me. EQ has done a great job of remodeling the interior and the location is absolutely ideal on Heights St. EQ is awesome and I hope they stick around. I’ve been here a few times and the coffee and baked goods are always delicious. The service is fantastic and they have plenty of seating inside and outside. Parking is limited here though. 3 spots in the front and a few in the back. But there is plenty of parking along Heights so that’s never been an issue. Overall EQ is one of my favorite coffee spots in Houston now!

I hadn’t been here in 5 – 7 years or so and I’m not sure if it was Waldo’s back then or even something else prior to them. Whatever the name of the old place was, it used to have a weird vibe like going to a stranger’s house without being invited, but it looks like they’ve opened up the place and painted the walls robin blue and it’s very warm and friendly now. The tea I had was great as was the service. On the night I was there, there was an acoustic band playing so do with that information what you will. There are plenty of seats outside and inside with plugs outside as well. Great independent coffee shop and I’ll try to come more often.

Meh. Coffee and food here are okay and nothing to write home about. Prices are a bit higher than they should be for what you get. Both Antidote and Boomtown blow this place away for taste and quality. People come here for the deck, which is nice, built by the previous coffee shop here(Boulevard). This place is not bike friendly. Despite having a bike rack and being on a great cycling street, their customers routinely block the bike lane — every single day. I brought this up with the manager, and he just smiled and shrugged. Blew me off. The City has been notified. If you’re a cyclist, avoid this place. Come to think of it, if you like good coffee and dislike lousy attitudes, you should avoid it, too.

Great ambiance — cute house turned coffee shop with a large patio. Variety of seating and games!(ie scrabble, connect four, etc) They have a variety of coffees, pastries, 2 sandwiches and a veg flatbread. They were out of Turkey for the sandwich we wanted so opted for the veg flatbread, which was really small(size of a appetizer plate) but full of veggies. Tasted ok but nothing I would come back for. Macchiato was average.

Stumbled upon this cute coffee shop while I was in town for the weekend. I never really checked out the coffee shops in the Heights when I lived in Houston, but this one is nice for grabbing a coffee and buckling down on some work. The interior is adorable and has lots of tables, outlets, and a tufted couches. I may have gone at a slower hour(Saturday afternoon), so there were lots of seats to pick from. Service and wifi were great. Coffee was decently priced(but let’s be real, it could be cheaper). My only gripe is that the room I was sitting in got progressively colder… I don’t know if there’s just no air vent there or what but my nose and fingers were frozen by the time I left :(

I enjoy this place a lot. The atmosphere is really relaxed, the service is always great and the patio that they have is a wonderful place to get some work done or sit on a nice day. It’s always very clean, it’s never been too packed that I couldn’t find a seat, it’s quiet and the employees are always very friendly. They have a lot of parking for it being off Heights Blvd. which makes it really convenient and easy to access. The only reason I am giving it 3 stars is because it never fails that I get sick after drinking there coffee, it could just be the coffee they are using, because I’ve even drank it black so I know it is not an issue of spoiled dairy. The coffee is just very very acidic and rich, maybe I need to try a different drink, but I’ve had a Chai, drip coffee, a special latte and I’ve always had a stomach ache. So while I will continue to come here to read and work and just get tea. I would like to maybe see if there is another drink I could try. Cause this place really is a great place to be.

Great place to get some work done or to grab coffee with friends. I had their lemon cranberry muffin, which they offered to warm up — definitely take them up on that offer. It had a surprise lemon filling inside. I also had a white mocha, which was average(not the best one I’ve ever had). I was able to sit for several hours and get LOTS of work done until it started raining(I was outside) and my laptop battery ran out of juice, at which point I decided it was a pretty good quitting time.

EQ’s exterior ambiance is reminiscent of a front page cover shot of better homes. With baby blue hues, and modern furnishings you will feel right at home once you enter this café. We decided to try out this café for their matcha green tea. Which turned out to be a good choice. For our first experience, we decided on the breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese along with the Matcha green tea latte. Expect to spend about $ 25 for two people if you plan to have a latte and a breakfast sandwich. Service was quick, and the staff was friendly. They have a large seating area outside, and they welcome dogs! Internet is available so bring your work! I will be back for their latte and their sausage kolache($ 1.95).

Discovered this place in my Unilocal newsletter — thanks Unilocal! From my understanding they opened just recently. Located right on Heights Blvd, you really can’t miss it. I love old houses that become businesses. The décor and furniture are all really nice. Clean leather sofa, nice tables, comfortable chairs. I like that it’s not all one big open area — there are two separate ‘rooms’ just like a house, so it feels like you have a little more privacy. They have an electronic menu which is much appreciated — big and easy to read. Prices are fair. I ordered a berry smoothie and it was honestly one of the most delicious smoothies I’ve ever had! $ 4 and some change for a small size. There’s a big outdoor patio. And get this — A PARKINGLOT. Yeah. There are 3 spots right in front of the house and more in back, about 8 – 10 or so. Great environment, well lit with natural light. A great place to come and get work done/study/hang with friends. Much better than Boomtown in my opinion(I stopped going there altogether). GREAT service. Also, not overrun with hipsters yet, so I’m planning a quick return!
