Flock The Houston Zoo Young Supporters

It’s amazing to see how fast Flock has grown over the past years. Founded in 2009, the first Flock event was a small mixer housed in the aquarium. Today, Flock events, like the annual Beastly Brunch, attracts 300+ people and tickets are guaranteed to sell out.
For those who don’t know, Flock is the Zoo’s young supporters group. And by «young,» they mean you have to be at least 12-​years-​old and there really isn’t a cap on maximum age. As they say, it’s more of a «young at heart» type of thing, being that there are plenty of members in their late 30s, 40s (and perhaps 50s?).
Annual membership is $ 150 ($ 250 for a Flock Plus membership). Your membership gets you free access into three cocktail events and the annual Beastly Brunch. You also get a one-​year Zoo membership benefits, volunteer opps, discount at the gift shop, special preview invites (like to Zoo Lights or new exhibits) and other perks.

No lie, I like elephants. I even have a picture of when I was 5 years-​old sitting on an elephant at the San Diego Zoo (but I’m not sure if I was smiling or crying… hmmm…). Anyway, fast forward to present day — Flock hosted an event to «Party with the Pachyderms». Let me just say it was an AWESOME event. Period.
Since most of my friends and I are not members of Flock, it costs us $ 25 to spend an evening with the elephants with an open bar and unlimited Chipotle tacos until it ran out (and it sure did run out). All the proceeds went to the zoo, education programs, and wildlife conservation efforts (so talk about doing something good!).
What’s great about the event was how it took place after the zoo closed so you and your friends are able to enjoy the place without feeling crowded.
In the past, they’ve held a brunch event so my friends and I are definitely looking forward to (really hoping) they’ll have another one soon.

Great event on Sunday afternoon! The food was tasty, the drinks were flowing and the few animals that came out were super cute!
You also had an opportunity to buy things that help support the zoo, which I love!
