My experience was being able to visit an art studio on one of the higher levels for an after party. It’s a very seedy area, even though it’s being developed, right now it’s pretty scary. And area smells really bad. Once inside, there are no elevators so you have to walk the stairs.

This is one of the less expensive music rehearsal studio spaces in town. My fiancé started sharing a lease for a space here this year and I’ve only been by a few times because a) I don’t want to be «that girl» and b) there are cleanliness issues. Thankfully, my guy and the people he shares the space with are very tidy and enforce a «no food» policy in their space. Be prepared to always bring your own toilet paper and hand soap to long practice sessions. There are bathrooms on each floor but they don’t come supplied with any of that. If you are going to rent a space here, I recommend you look into the 2nd or 3rd floors as break-ins do occur, but more frequently on the first floor. The door for each practice space has multiple hinges for those that wish to use multiple bolts/locks. Use them, regardless of what floor you are on. It stays warm enough in the Winter and cool enough in the Summer. When you walk into the building and as you go through the halls and stairways, you will be greeted by the blasting of metal/punk music at every angle. It is, however, well insulated enough inside the practice spaces as far as sound goes.

Gina is spot on about this place. Great for practicing, but the bathrooms are quite scary. If your band is practicing on the first floor, make sure you lock your door while rehearsing. Homeless people are notorious for knocking on doors and asking for money. Why the doors don’t have peep holes I’ll never know :(

Oh Francisco Studios the very definiton of seedy in town. Lots of memories make it a one and a five, I’ll settle for the half way mark.

Most vile bathrooms in all of Houston. Most bands practice here. If you are a girl here, bring toilet paper, hand sanitizer and the fumigation mask. Or don’t need the bathroom. The rent is decent though and most Houston bands have or currently rent in the building.
