Prompt and friendly service. The warm rolls are yummy! Good comfort food, as well as salads. Reasonable prices. Review is for lunchtime.

Pretty varied menu with something for everyone. The fact you can choose your sides gives you the option to be healthy or just carbo load. Steaks are very good as is the fish. Burgers are merely ok with the meat to bun ratio a little out of balance(give me more meat!). Nice bartenders will make sure you never have an empty glass.

Seriously love the food here! I stay nearby at a hotel for work, so there aren’t a lot of options, but I’m glad this is one of them. The food is by no means gourmet, but consistently flavorful, the price is right, and the service always friendly. Good Eats. My Texas kitchen;-)

Excellent family restaurant, delicious and filling meal, conveniently located near the airport. We spent about $ 42 to feed a family of four(before tip, including taxes) We were stuck overnight due to a cancelled flight so honestly I probably would have been happy with anything at that point and wasn’t expecting anything special. We walked in and I was pleasantly surprised by the ambience and décor. The hostess and waitress were both very friendly. The waitress had good knowledge of the menu items. They start you off with a basket of bread. The rolls were wonderful, and the butter had a hint of honey to it. The jalapeño cornbread was okay but nothing special. My kids got the Mac and cheese off the kids menu, which is their house made Mac and cheese and not the easy mac boxes you get at some restaurants. Delicious! Their meals also came with a beverage and they got a scoop of ice cream at the end. My husband got the chicken fried steak with okra and broccoli. CFS was tender and breaded perfectly, with a light covering of gravy. The veggies were cooked perfectly-he likes them steamed to slightly crispy. I had the beef tenderloin tip salad. The tenderloins were cooked to order, very juicy and tender! Seasoned perfectly! I set them aside and ate them separately because I didn’t want to ruin the flavor with the salad dressing. My only complaint(and it’s such a minor one I forgot to mention it to the waitress) was that two of our cloth napkins smelled terrible, like they had been soaked in grease and not cleaned properly.(Reminded me of my aprons after a shift waitressing) I know that’s probably a minor thing and out of their control if they use a laundry service, but perhaps an employee will read this and address the issue and pay closer attention when rolling silverware.

Great veggie burger and really good margaritas, especially for the price. Rolando was a very attentive server and the rest of the staff were good as well. It’s located inside the Holiday Inn so I came in with low expectations and was pleasantly surprised!

Flustered — verb(used with object) to put into a state of agitated confusion. «The act of collecting monies for services rendered flustered the waitress to no end.» I’m amused easily, and thankfully I’m a man of simple pleasures. The restaurant attached to my hotel in Houston is called«Good Eats.» As a fan of the Food Network cooking show by Alton Brown called Good Eats I had to partake. Off to Unilocal I go for a ranking and reviews.(Hope you are happy Derek Cunningham!) 48 reviews, 3 stars out of a potential 5. Meh. I keep looking. Tita’s Taco House — 217 reviews, 5 stars out of 5. Now we are talking. How far away? 5 miles, perfect. Oh no! Only open until 2:00 pm. Crud. Back to the Good Eats reviews. Rated best chicken fried steak in Houston. I love chicken fried steak and comfort food after a full day in airports and a plane seats is just what the Dr. ordered. So I take off my business causal shoes, put on flip lops and head down to the lobby for some home cooking, Texas style. They feature a n adult beverage called an Eat-A-Rita, the house specialty. Bingo, order that. It is great… and BIG! Order the chicken fried steak with an add on, Indian Summer Soup for an additional $ 2. The order arrives, but my soup never shows up. She realizes this as she is setting the plate down. DO you still want the soup sir or should I strike it from the bill? I want the soup and she scurries off to fetch it. The steak is large, smothered with white gravy and a small pile of shredded lettuce on the side with 2 tomato slice on top of the lettuce. The menu said there would be 2 vegetables with it. Lettuce is kind of a vegetable, and tomatoes are technically a fruit, but OK I can live with it. The soup arrives and dig into my steak. It is a little bland, but the gravy is good… What’s this? The meat is chicken. Where I come from chicken fried steak is beef, chicken fried chicken is chicken, but hey, when in Rome… I salt and pepper the steak to taste and dig in. In the meantime, the table next to me is served their meals.(Interesting group, but they will be a different ramble.) One orders chicken fried steak too, but he has broccoli and mashed potatoes for his vegetables. Hmmm. So when my waiter makes her next round I ask if I ordered mine incorrectly. She asks why? I point to the plate next door and say he has 2 veggies and I have lettuce. Did I order mine wrong? She says no, you asked for soup. I said, the menu said the soup was a $ 2 add on. She said, oh, I substituted, would you like veggies? I said, nope, you made a great decision, I just needed to ask. Thank you. Now I try the soup. OMG! This has flavors that POP! Beer cheese based soup with rotisserie chicken cubes, sweet corn and diced jalapeño peppers. This soup was worth everything else that happened. What else happened? Glad you ask. I’m sitting at the table after dining and she asks if I’d like anything else. No I say, just the check. She smiles and hurries off. 10 minutes later she comes back and asks if she can take my bill. I say no, you didn’t bring one. Eyes wide open and scurries off again. 10 minutes later she comes back and asks if I’m sure I didn’t already pay. No, I say and it wouldn’t be honest to say differently. Eyes wide open and scurries off again. 5 Minutes later a nice young man brings out a check and puts it on my table… but wait it is not over. I look at the total $ 21 and some odd cents. Look in my bill fold and plop a $ 20 and $ 10 in the folder and lay it down. 5 more minutes pass and no waiter. On a lark I open the bill and it says 2 Stella Artois mugs and chicken strips. I had one margarita and chicken fried steak. 5 more minutes pass and she arrive to get it. Like a fool a say, «Not my bill.» Eyes wide open, this time looking at the bill and utters«Stupid computer» while scurrying off one more time.“ Only 1 minute later she arrives with my bill, which coincidentally was also $ 21 and some odd cents. I give her $ 30 and she disappears for the final time. When she returns instead of $ 8 and some change, she has $ 6 and no change. I grabbed the $ 5 laid down a $ 1 ontop of the $ 1 she brought me, and told her she can have the remainder of the change that she shorted me plus the $ 2 for her tip.($ 4 and change) We both smiled at each other, and she thanked me for being patient and nice. I told her to not let it get her down and headed back to my room… to write my latest ramble.

Exactly what the restaurant’s name says it is for weary airport travelers, Good Eats’ classic American menu and warm-hearted service are infused with a touch of southern charm. I highly recommend the chicken-fried steak, as well as both the squash and broccoli and rice casseroles. The steak was moist and the batter crisp, just as it should be, and the gravy was passable. This restaurant created an immensely satisfying end to a long day in the air.

Stopped here for dinner as we were waiting for family to arrive on a delayed flight to IAH. 3 star Unilocal review almost put us off, but the menu drew us in. And I’m glad we ignored the reviews. Our server was excellent, friendly, attentive, and he was great with our toddler. Brought him a balloon, extra chocolate milk and was very friendly indeed. Food wise, hubby had a grilled chicken salad with honey mustard and cleared his plate. Portion was huge, and even he struggled to finish it. Toddler had chicken fingers and fries(don’t judge, rare treat!) and it came with strawberry-Apple sauce. Portion was huge, kiddo devoured it, and it was cooked quickly which matters when waiting for food with kids! My buffalo chicken bites and fries were delicious, plentiful and tasty. It’ll definitely be our go-to get dinner on the way to the airport, restaurant. It’s lovely :)

Good and friendly service, lots of local Texas beer options and decent food. Their bread and butter is actually bomb. They are located in the Holiday Inn.

Nice restaurant, reasonable prices. We had a light dinner — my buddy had their Brandy Jack Burger, I had the Texas Tips salad. Both were big and delicious. Drinks reasonably priced too. Total bill of around $ 30 was decent enough and the service was very pleasant. One star lost for(lack of) speed of service, however. We waited nearly 20 minutes for a burger and a salad. Perhaps they were busy. We’ll still return — the food is great.

I come to Houston once a year and stay near the airport. I am crazy about their boneless buffalo chicken with blue cheese. I crave it for the whole rest of the year! Service is so-so — depends who you get. The Good Eats Salad with shrimp is really good also.

Not a bad place for a Hotel restaurant… servers are nice and the beer is cold. Get the cheaper food, it’s worth it for the moment money. DON’T GETTHE $ 28RIBEYE!!! For that price I was expecting something decent… it’s the same cut of meat you get at Denny’s with they’re $ 10 steak and eggs.

I sat at the bar and ordered what I knew they are known for, chicken fried chicken along with 2 very good goose martinis and a not so great peach cobbler. Order the chicken fried steak or chicken only!

Stayed in the Hotel for 5 weeks, and I ate here often. Service — 5 – 8 out of 10. Depends on who you get. Cleanliness — 6⁄10 Food — 6⁄10 Prices — 7.5÷10 Atmosphere — 7.5÷10 All in all its alright. Nothing special, a little dirty for my taste though.

Sat at the Bar, Walter the bar tender was very friendly and quickly changed out my skunked house wine when I asked him to. He suggested the Cajun Chicken Pasta which was delicious. Prices were resonance and great service.

Stopped here due to a layover. Restaurant is nicely furnished. Staff is friendly. We both had chicken fried steak. It was delicious. Our server Evelyn was fantastic!!! She is friendly and efficient. She took great care of us. Prices are fair and the menu selection has something for everyone. Salads are chilled and fresh.

This is a nice little place, I’m not sure why they have bad reviews but I guess everyone has ‘off’ days. This is a down home Southern style restaurant. Think nice diner. Everything from nachos, burgers, sandwiches, to several fish dishes– catfish, salmon, shrimp, to steaks, various chicken dishes and of course chicken fried steak. My server Felicia was very nice, and fast! I didn’t wait long for anything and neither did anyone around me even as it got busy. First comes a wheat roll and cornbread with sweet butter. Omg. Then I had the chopped steak medium rare(cooked perfect), mash potatoes white gravy on the side(tried to be good) and baked squash. And I ate every little bit. The place is clean, nice décor. Prices are good. Is it the Ritz? No. Would I eat here again? Most definitely

If you want a beer served in a frozen mud, this is your place. Service is friendly and attentive. I visited twice and service was on par but unfortunately I wasn’t impreased with the food. I had the chicken fried steak which was over cooked and in fact the batter was so crispy it came off the meat. The corn bread with jalapeño was amazing which helped saved them from a lower rating. If you want bar food and an ice cold beer close to the Holiday Inn, this place is for you.

The hubs and I wandered over here during our stay at the Hilton Garden Inn – there isn’t a lot around and the Good Eats Grill fit the bill for what we were looking for. A reasonably priced dinner and cold beer. Easy to please. The staff was friendly and(mostly) attentive, and I attributed any lapses in service to the fact that it was so. darn. hot. in the restaurant. I’m not sure if the air went out or if they were paying homage to the sweat gods, but it was ridiculous. I had a roommate from Texas who used to keep the air around 60-degrees – these are apparently not the same type of Texans. The food was fresh and tasty, if not earth shatteringly awesome. Better than I expected but not the best I’ve had, if that makes sense. I had a chicken finger salad and the hubs had the chicken fingers tossed in buffalo(with okra). I tasted a piece of his okra and as I put it in my mouth, he said, «Some pieces are crispier than others. Rather, some pieces are crispy.» But the bartender always had a smile on his face(as did the young woman who replaced him), and I left having enjoyed my dinner. There isn’t a lot in the area, and it’s not a bad place to spend an evening(or your $ 10 United meal vouchers).
