A bit more on the price side compare to Papas bar– q not to mention the serving size is small. The brisket was a bit dry .ribs are super tiny. if you want an extra slice of jalapeño bread one extra even with three meals won’t be given comp. we asked for a small side of sausage and got charged for a whole plate the price of two meats. Can’t get extra sauce like with the other condiments. On a good note they had a saint Arnold’s beer to wash down that dry meat.

No beef ribs I repeat no beef ribs!!! I hate eating at a Texas bbq joint and they are not represented!!! However the brisket was smokey and lean so I must regress… Been going to Goode since I was little and my dad would take use here. Love the lubys style cafeteria line. Meat and sides are you’re usual Texas bbq selections… I never eat swine at bbq restaurants because I’m a beef man; so I have no review for that but the sliced brisket sandwich on their grilled butter buns are pretty darn good and filling! Desserts look amazing and they have cold beer. Two of those and a side of beans gets my big ass full. Since I live in Katy this is my go to spot for bbq. Average prices similar to Rudys. The décor and location of Goode is also acceptable to me! I shall return!

Tasty brisket, excellent slaw and jalapeño pintos. but the big winner was the jalapeño cheesebread

When my fiancé and I first met this is one of the first places I took her to. To be fair we were having a small bit of stress that night. We each got a plate. Both got the brisket in fact she got a double order of brisket. I thought the polish sausage was better than the brisket. The brisket was a bit fatty but that sort of comes with the territory. We had to pour on the sauce though to give the brisket some flavor. It really had little taste. My baby had the slaw and didn’t really like it though she is pretty picky about coleslaw. The potato salad was fairly decent. I liked the jalapeño bread the best and she liked her IBC root beer. She had just moved here from out of state and I was a bit embarrassed as she didn’t want to try more bbq from here. While visiting my parents here in Waco my father took us to Rudys and thereby restored my claim that Texans do make good bbq. Forgot to add this cost us about 20 dollars more than Rudys and the quality and taste in terms of meat and side just wasn’t as good as Rudys or a mom and pop shop here in Waco called Viteks.

Yesterday I inquired about brisket by the pound at Goode Company as it was not listed on the menu. I was told that 16 oz. is sold for $ 19.95. Instead I settled for an a la carte brisket plate, which is 7 oz. for $ 13.95(I did get a slice of jalapeño cheese bread with it). My request that my serving come from the lean end of the brisket and was met with a quizzical look, as if the carver had never before heard this request. I repeated what I was asking for and fortunately he did figure it out. The brisket from Goode Company was suitably tender but essentially flavorless. There was no pink smoke ring, there was no charred dry rub crust. It did not taste bad, but it desperately needed barbecue sauce to give it flavor. Today on my way back to New Braunfels, I stopped in Luling at the original Luling City Market for a comparison. There the brisket is sold for $ 12.99 per pound and the carver knew exactly what I meant when I said I wanted it from the lean end. He overcarved it by 2 oz. and gave me the excess for free since I had asked for just one pound. This brisket was tender, smoky, well seasoned and delicious. Dumping barbecue sauce on this brisket would be akin to pouring ketchup on a ribeye at Brenner’s. Sinful. Moral of the story: never drive through Luling without stopping for a healthy slab of brisket. Whether you eat it on the spot, bring it to New Braunfels or bring it to Houston so you can avoid going to Goode Company. You’ll get twice the amount of meat and 10x the amount of flavor if you do.

Delicious food has outdoor seating but loved the fact that you can make your own bucket of beer!

The Absolute BENCHMARK for CONSISTENTLYGOODEBBQ. There are some better and many worse but for all around BBQ, Sides, and Desserts, they are Excellent. I’ve eaten here for over 20 Years and they have kept it consistently Goode. Beef Prices have gone up and they adapted by price increases but, if you want a pile of cheap BBQ go somewhere else. They’re always clean and efficient. I always recommend them to out of towners and have never regretted it. For Dessert, you cannot go wrong with the Pecan Pie or Chocolate Pie. Try a Beer with your BBQ dinner, you won’t regret it. All locations are legit.

Terrific pecan pie. Their prices have gone up for bbq. Two people to eat here in between 32 to 38 bucks. Good bbq.

Came here on a visit to Houston to meet with a local friend who recommended we go to Goode. The bbq sauce was probably my favorite part of the meal– spicy and tangy, with a good kick that doesn’t overwhelm to a point where that’s all you taste. Solid cafeteria-style bbq place if you’re in the Rice Village area and want a no-frills bite to eat.

I love Goode Co BBQ they always have deliciously tender brisket and meat that falls off the bone for porkribs. I love the fact that the plates are accompanied by jalapeño cheese bread. I also like their sides of potato salad and jambalaya rice. The location is large andit iseasy to get parking and seating which is not the case with the Kirby location. They always have bottle root beer and cold beers ready.

We came here looking for pies for thanksgiving and we were super happy with the pecan pie. They had a tent outside just for people to come drive by, which I wish I knew that before I had already walked up. The pecan pie was really sweet, and the crust was very crispy and tasty. That pie didn’t last long in our house after the meal. One cool thing about this company is that they will smoke and cut your meat for you. We had a birthday party and bought 3 lbs of chicken, sausages, and brisket. It came out so delicious, and very affordable. You need to give them 24hrs to prepare, but once you pick up the food, you’ll know why. The smokiness of the meat is amazing. We are coming back here again very soon.

3 stars means«marginal». Arriving on a weeknight at 7pm menu choices were limited. I had pork — my friend had ribs and brisket. 2 side vegetables come with dinner; he didn’t finish them. I had the substitute for $ 1.50 baked potato — it was dry. Atmosphere is Texas themed rustic, maybe you come here for that. Not bad, just nothing exceptional.

The BBQ seemed to have a strong marinara base which I’ve never been a huge fan of. I ordered the stuffed baked potato which was enjoyable because of the generous toppings and the brisket(which I’ve never had on a baked potato before– YUM). The brisket was not the best I’ve ever had but it still hit the spot. Looking forward to trying more briskets hat Texas has to offer! The jalapeño bread was quite enjoyable as well. Make sure to get that too if you go!

Such a Goode place to eat! If you live in Houston, you probably have eaten here! If you are driving through on I-10, you will see this place. Inside, you will find a Bull or Buffalo Head and a lot of saddles decorating the restaurant. There is a complete buffalo where you could take a picture in front of. I love the huge chandelier in the dining area! Our family has eaten here a few times throughout the 28+ years we’ve driven from California to Alabama. This place has been around for a long time, since 1977, to be exact! They cook their meats over Mesquite wood, which produces lots of smoke. Their meat has a truly delicious smokey flavor! We usually get the Beef Brisket. They serve a slice of Jalapeño Cheese Bread with your plate… I loved it, but my daughter thought it was a little spicy. The menu should have something for everyone who loves a BBQ joint! They have pork, beef, turkey, sausage, duck, and chicken. They also have a few desserts. If you want a beer, you will find some in a trough to choose from as well. There are a few menus on the wall to look at while you wait in line and decide what you want. This is similar to a cafeteria style line. Tell them what you want(meat & sides), they plate it for you, and you can grab your drink cup or beer and/or dessert, then head to the cashier to pay. Other than for all the choices, the next tough factor might be in trying to find an empty table. This place is super busy during lunch time! If you haven’t been to one before, you should at least try it once. It is quite tasty and interesting.

Overall goode stuff. This place is a carnivore’s heaven with so many meat choices and some generous sides. Had the three meats plate czech sausage, ribs, and brisket. All hit the spot and were decent but none of them were the best I’ve had. Informal dining. Line up at the counter, get your food, pay and find a table. Bottom line: 3.75 stars. Tasty meats that will satisfy any carnivore but can’t say it’s the best I’ve had.

This place is good and consistent, service is very friendly. My favorite is the jalapeño smoked sausage and the jalapeño cheddar Texas toast. The brisket is very tasty as well. Not a big fan of the bbq sauce, but overall the food is good.

This place is right off the interstate, so it makes for an easy stop if you’re traveling. When you walk up to the restaurant, the smell of the wood-fire smoke greets you. Makes ya hungry, for sure! Inside, the menu is really confusing. I ordered and I’m still not sure if I could explain it. I mostly just said«yes» to things and ended up with a sausage platter plate. You grab beers or drinks from individual coolers, which was pretty neat. My first reaction when we got to the register was«it’s BBQ really this expensive?» $ 50 for two people is kinda crazy. I became more disappointed when I realized the sauce they use kinda tasted like ketchup. The sausage was not very good, although the green beans and the jalapeño bread were delicious! All in all, I would probably not choose this spot again, especially since there are so many other options in the area.

Make sure to order extra jalapeño slices of bread. Ordering by phone speeds up the process, though if are ordering drinks it is self serve outside. My order was ready in under 10 minutes. Sliced beef was decent though meat could be slightly softer. I usually skip the sauce. Sometimes, I get the potato salad, though you can only order so many times before you get tired. Wish: they offered more sides Plus: jalapeño bread really good Negative: tough meat to sink your teeth into Explore: want to try a dessert next time if I ever get enough room Overall, good casual place to eat with friends who like the outdoors.

Have passed this place when driving on I10 and thought I would stop to try it. I am a big fan of their seafood brand. This resturant is as rustic has it gets in décor with country western theme including saddles, animal wall mounts, aged rifles and other artifacts. By 11:45 place this place was packed. Concept is cafeteria style, assembly line for ordering. Got brisket sandwich it was okay, I have had better. Brisket was more moist that I prefer. Meat was soggy. While the actual BBQ sauce was bland and lacked flavor. Sides on the assembly line were not appealing.

As soon as we got out of the car, our noses were filled with the beautiful aroma of Texas barbecue. I had not been to Goode Co. Barbecue since I was a child. Although I eat it pretty much every year at the Houston rodeo. We went on a Sunday, after church, and it was surprisingly not crowded(maybe because a Texans’ game was on at the same time). The service was quick and friendly. The décor was so fun — buffalo heads, cow skins, everything’s wooden. If you went to AstroWorld as a child, this place reminds me of the«western» section of the theme park. I ordered a sliced brisket sandwich on jalapeño cheese bread with coleslaw, and a small cinnamon shake. The sandwich was good, the meat was pretty lean(a good thing imo), and the bread was tasty. Next time I would ask for more sauce. The coleslaw was kind of tasteless. The cinnamon shake was great! It was more like a Wendy’s frosty than a milkshake — I loved it! Would I go here again? Yes, but it’s definitely not my all-time favorite for barbecue.
