I really love HEB. I do. But today was the worst HEB experience I’ve ever had my 8 years living in Houston. I came in around 10pm to get a few items. There was an awesome guy on the floor who helped me find what I needed after seeing me looking lost. That’s why we get 2 stars. If it hadn’t been for him we would be at 1.
I go to checkout and there are only two lanes open. I had about 20 items a dim the guy who hates to go through express checkout with more than the prescribed limit. But the regular lane had a guy with two full baskets so I had to do it. I unloaded my cart and then an employee gets the last behind me to check out when I just passed this cashier. I’m like ok no prob this cashier won’t take too long. Wrong. The last in front of me wanted a cigar. So it took over 10 mins for cashier to come back. During this time we have a line. The manager passed me multiple times. Didn’t say hello, I’m sorry, offer to check me out, nothing. They still didn’t open further lanes so here we have lines growing and nothing being done.
So my cashier returns and checks out the cigar lady. Then it’s me. No hello. Throws my items and then doesn’t even apologize or say thank you. She even stopped checking to talk to a colleague and tell him bye. Seriously? Dude this was a disgrace. HEB should be ashamed at this. Most def making sure corporate knows about the poor management, customer service and training of these employees. So not like HEB.

These people are arrogant and rude. I will never shop an HEB again. The franchise is slipping because of its poor treatment of disabled people.

Just had the most exasperating experience at their deli counter. There were three people behind the counter, all with their back to the customers, just yakking away with each other, completely oblivious to what was going with anyone but themselves. It took several long minutes before anyone of them even turned around to see if there were customers waiting. At least one customer just walked away in frustration. When one of the staff finally turned around, she moved about as slow as I’ve ever seen. It took her fully five minutes just to begin cutting the meat for my order. It then took her another ten minutes to complete an order for two things, neither of them anything but routine. She appeared to be unable to multi-​task, as she would stop doing what she was being paid for to continue talking to her co-​workers about what kind of people they liked to date. Unable to hide my irritation, I commented loudly to another customer standing next to me that they just behaved as though they had all the time in the world. She rolled her eyes and said, «I know! It’s ALWAYS like that here.» The clerk helping me just thought that was the funniest thing, and she smirked and made several smart-​aleck comments to me as she completed my order.
If the staff here moved their butts as fast as their mouths, I might consider shopping here again. Too bad, because it’s right across the street from me. But I’d sooner drive five miles out of my way and spend twice as much rather than give them my business again.

I remember my first time here, it was during hurricane Ike. This was the only grocery store open in this part of town with electricity outlets on the walkway allowing people to charge their phones. I was very thankful that they saved many hungry shoppers.
I began to shop here more often than the one closer to my house in Chinatown. That store is going downhill. My partner and I rather drive extra mile to shop here on Friday afternoon around 4. That’s about time for the food sampling to start.
I don’t know why there are 2 entrances at this H-​E-​B. It doesn’t matter which door we enter, we always start from the produce department. My first impression was «wow. So many organic foods.» But I have to detour to avoid seeing one or accidentally picking one. Fine. Fine. Fine. I’ll try some organics vegetables. During the cilantro shortage, I bought organic cilantro and I was very surprised with how long it kept in my refrigerator without wilting.
Prices are very competitive and comparable to its sister stores. They have everything I need, especially with the produce and fruits. Staff is always friendly and helpful, much better than Sprouts across street. Every time I’m here, I tend to find something new and interesting on every aisle.

The only grocery store that I’ve seen to actually remove all of the food from the cool section and clean it out. They had staff removing everything and cleaning. 10pm and later. I’m sure this never happens at walmart. I used to ship there all the time at night never seen tbis! Love this store!

They need to teach their employees how to bag groceries!!! You don not put heavy can items on top of bread, cookies or chips!!! The next time I have to re-​bag my groceries while putting them in the trunk I will turn around go back into the store with all that I bought, return it get my money back and go somewhere else! Very dissatisfied customer on the brink of finding another grocery store, keep it up and you will not be My HEB!

Ok so, all my fellow coffee drinkers out there, you know how it makes you feel when you wake up in the morning running on about 4 hours of sleep after a «yesterday» that kicked you in the… but you have things that gotta get done so you’re up when you could have slept in. What’s the first thing you’re thinking when you get outta bed? Exactly! COFFEE!
You go in the kitchen ready to fire up your trusty brew meister and look in the fridge, NO COFFEE! [Insert profanities here, not one of two either]
Well you gotta have the Java to kick this day off right. Taking over the world requires certain fundamental essentials. So off to HEB I go which is about 4 miles one way. That’s a trek for a caffeineless man. I get there, pick my poison, a fresh gallon of spring water, and hot tail it to the checkout. Im looking for the shortest line then Bingo! A squeaky fresh register beckons me. All systems go!
The guy rings me up then bags my coffee and slides my gallon over just out of reach. The coffee is still in the plastic bag on the little bag dispenser on the far opposite side of the register counter. Trevian H., my cashier, proceeds to the next customer, not even thinking «maybe I should give him this bag of coffee so he doesn’t have to perform pilates to get to it». So I reach out and gesture towards the bag, with a little animation to indicate that assistance would be nice, and he says «What, you want a bag for your water?». I’m like, «No, I would like my bag of coffee if possible». The guy gets an attitude, snatches the coffee of the dispenser and then hands it to me and switches his attention back to the next customer.
Ok, I’m old school from the hood. If you from the hood you know what I wanted to do but that involves police and court systems. I opted out.
I left and said to myself, I need my energy cause I have bigger fish to fry. So I get home and I’m ready to get the java flowing. I grab my bag of coffee and guess what? There’s a hole in the bag… As afore mentioned, I’m old school so I pour the coffee in a zip lock and said this just gonna have to due, cause I’m not going back up there, for several reasons… but I’m going « Unilocal» they @$$ for this one.
I started to go to Walmart because there you know what you’re getting in terms of customer service the majority of the time (no offense intended). But I gave HEB a shot. Thanks to Trevian H. I won’t be returning.

I love the farm fresh eggs that I can only find at HEB. No other store provides such quality eggs that are free range, hormone free, antibiotic free, and taste better than your average cheap egg. Thanks, HEB! Much closer than the farmer’s market.
I got a bad watermelon yesterday and they exchanged it after looking at my picture of it and keeping my receipt. They also unexpectedly had socks!
This HEB is my favorite place to shop. The variety is unbeatable and the Texas pride is contagious.

The cashier named Monique has really bad service and bad actitud not very courteous and stock her nail in my bread, she needs to learn how to smile to customers thats her job.

I used to love going to HEB because of how the quality of the food and shopping experience was better than that of Walmart or Kroger, however, I’ve noticed several HEBs are cutting corners to try to gain more business. This location has mediocre parking, but the customer service is awful. Several times I’ve gone I have had to wait in long lines because they have way too many «15 items or less» lines and not enough regular ones open. The last time I went my cashier told me I had to put all of the produce on the belt until she could start, which I knew was a lie because it’s only so she can scan everything as fast as possible to make herself look like she’s a fast cashier. I complained to the manager about who’s time was more important, mine or hers and he was nice about acknowledging that she shouldn’t do that. Other than that this HEB doesn’t offer a lot of coupons like other HEBs. There are RARELY coupons on the makeup aisle, which is disappointing. I’ve also seen the produce being stocked without the employee wearing gloves which is gross to me. Many of their bulk products are stale.

You can find almost everything you need here but I take grocery shoppi, g seriously. I really enjoy shoppi, g and having a relaxing experience, mindlessly gathering my goods for the week. But this store really stressed me out.
First of all, the parking situation is miserable. I feel this parking lot is a death trap, especially after work hours.
Also, things are just kinda mishmashed and disorganized inside. It makes shopping so much easier if things are put together more.
Lastly, cart people, quit chatting and get to work or help customers. Both times I have come here the cart collectors are just standing around gossiping. Its super annoying, I shouldn’t have to hear about these stories when getting or returning my cart.

I used to live so close to this location and I have to say I miss it. My most recent trip back was after quite a renovation so I spent a good amount of time perusing the aisles for any and everything. This store has a great selection of produce, cheeses, ethnic foods, etc etc etc. This store also doesn’t get stupid busy like Bunker Hill and I like the layout better than Westheimer/​Fountainview. That store is about to close though making way for the huge new one at San Felipe/​Fountainview. I’m guessing that will be chaos, but we’ll see. In the meantime, when I’m back in the old area, I like sticking to this store!

When I call and ask a question their response shouldn’t be «For What?» I called and asked what time does customer service close and the response was «For What?» Instead of just giving me a time.

This location is a little pricier than others. But they have a lot of specialty food and drink items. I like the sushi bar. You can always get it fresh if you like. I have noticed lately that they have a lot of food samples on Sundays, including wine samples!

I’m pretty much here all the time and I refuse to go anywhere else.
For starters, their produce is more than often fresh and fully stocked. They have an organic section as well. They have recently renovated so there is tons of space to maneuver around without feeling bombarded.
The deli department is always pleasant and helpful, huge variety.
Meat is always great, large selection.
All the I between isles literally have everything including some foreign cooking needs.
Staff is helpful and pleasant.
4 star only because I feel that sometimes the prices on the fruits can be a little lower. But for the most part price is great in comparison to other competition!

Worst produce ever! There are usually finger nail marks in the apples, bugs on the avocados, and everything else looks like they abused it before they put it on the shelf! They are currently renovating the store so it’s impossible to find anything and the prices on the shelf are usually wrong.

Best tortillas, fast and friendly. Nick, a board runner, pulled me out of a long line on a busy because I was only purchasing two items. I learned to really appreciate things like this! Thanks so much!

Currently this store is going through a re-​set where they are moving the products and items. In regards to the produce area, I like the changes that have been made. I am looking forward to more improvements in other departments. It’s made the produce more accessible and open. The produce is always fresh and at competitive prices. The meat section has plenty of variety and choices. If you need something specific the butcher can prepare it for you upon request. There are plenty of partners available to assist you through the store. They are pretty friendly and helpful. The store is clean and well lit. The cashiers are quick and well trained to get you in and out the lines. As a courtesy you can have bags taken to your car. Overall, this is a great store and I would recommend.

Easy to find things and the cashiers are always friendly and make checkout fast. The meat department is probably one of the smaller ones I’ve seen in the Houston area but meets my needs.

Hmm… I just got gas (for the car) so I don’t feel like I can give an actual rating of the place.
Oh wait… I was here like 2 years ago and that time I went in. So I’ll base the review off that. The store was nice and clean, but check out seemed to go slowly. That’s about all I remember.
Gas prices were good! So I’ll probably go back… for gas.
