When it first opened, I loved taking my kid here. Big park that allowed her to play and at times, it allowed me walk to around and get a work out. Unfortunately after the years, no one really takes care of it. There is trash EVERYWHERE. The trash bins are over flowing. I really wish this parked was clean so we can fully enjoy the beauty of it. Alief, as a community, we should all make sure we clean up after ourselves. This is where our kids play.

Beginners’ trail. It can get crowded during the weekends and in the late afternoon.

Hackberry Park is located in a dodgy part of Houston. There is trash in the multiple ponds. There is a part of the wood fence that’s broken and a big part of the chainlink fence leading to the neighborhood’s street broken. I deducted a star for this general state of disrepair. Nevertheless, many people were here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Little kids were playing in the playground sets, biking around the concrete paths, and running up and down the hills. Adults were watching their kids and walking around the concrete path. The outer loop of this concrete«trail» is 0.60 miles. There is above-average tree shade provided in this park; however, it was early Spring and leaves had not grown back yet so I walked mostly in the sun. Unlike the ponds at Eldridge Park and Woodbridge Lake(behind Hundred Bridge Lane) there were few ducks in the ponds of Hackberry Park. The park is still one of the more scenic neighborhood parks in Houston: there are lots of small gentle hills throughout and the blue water in the ponds shimmer in the sunlight. The parking lot looks very small for the heavy usage. Hackberry Park is located on the east side of Dairy Ashford about half a mile north of the Beechnut intersection.
