Every time I come here I forget I live in a large, metropolitan city of more than 5 million people. You see, we don’t exactly have nice beaches or scenic hills in Houston. We have muddy brown bayous, crazy super highways, and apparently, small reservoirs if you’re like me and accidentally stumble upon them while looking for a dog park. But, I wasn’t sad when I discovered this place and neither was my dog. I’m sure neither were the other dogs, their owners, bikers, runners and fishermen that I see frequent this place. The parking lot can be crowded at certain times, but I’ve never seen it full. And the entire reservoir area is big enough for everyone to have their personal space, picnic with friends, fish for who knows what, play with their dogs and still not run into each other if they don’t want to. Personally, I really love nature and the outdoors, and not having to spend money or time trying to find a calming place like this, to me, is wonderful. So, of course, I had to name this spot the third most romantic place in Houston. And, yes, don’t worry, it’s free.
