Growing up every Science Museum visit had to end with a stop in the museum store to browse and then evenly leave with rock candy on a stick. The store has really expanded since those days. Coming out of it’s little cubby hole, it is now 6,000 square feet and strategically situated between the museum and the garage, and a satellite location next to Butterfly Exhibit. As an adult I’m very pleased that with the new space they have expanded past the stuffed animals, «find the mummy» kits and grab bag of rocks. The mineral section of the store boasts actual fossils, rare minerals and very special jewelry. The kid friendly selection is still great. You will always find the dinosaurs and butterflies, but it now includes educational materials, books and documentaries. The store changes slightly when new special exhibits come through, to include unique gifts and souvenirs related to the exhibit. By far my favorite museum store.
