We came out of town from Arkansas to go to MD Anderson and this hotel is great for your stay. It’s being remodel but can’t even hear any commotion the rooms are very nice as well as their breakfast and all employees are great. Rooms are very clean when you come back from being at an appointment will always stay here

This hotel is a little off the beaten path but was «close enough» to the convention center I was working at. I found the front desk staff to be friendly (I had to interact with them about a half dozen times because my keys didn’t work on 2 different occasions) and the lobby area my clean. My room was pretty large and had a kitchenette and a small seating area. I only stayed for one night and didn’t use either of those features, but it was nice to know that options like that exist at a Holiday Inn express.
There are a lot of «perks» offered at this hotel — from free cookies and milk to a free happy hour. I didn’t take advantage of those, either, but I’m sure other people do.
I’d stay here again if the price and location are right!

This hotel is great! The location is perfect and the staff is so friendly and helpful you should certainly plan on staying here if you come to Houston! This hotel is extremely clean and the breakfast included has something for everyone. The Guest Services Manager, Ines, is eager to assist with anything you need. And, free parking is available!

The wife and I stayed here to watch the Houston Rockets game. The check in staff was fast. We told them we were in a rush to watch the game and they expedited our service. Eugene was very courteous and made out stay better. We wanted to watch another game in the lobby once we left the Toyota Center and he gave us a remote to the lobby TV. We had a nice conversation and he continued to work. I loved our stay here. Will definately come back for our downtown Houston needs!

Drove up from Austin, come into hotel to try and checkin early– unfriendly receptionist insists that the family member that booked our reservation has to be present to check in to our room, even with our name listed on the reservation. To «deter fraud». I understand that, but even after speaking on the phone, she still insisted that without him physically present, our room rate jumps from the affordable $ 160 to $ 500. Just ridiculous. We are here for a math teacher’s convention… Teachers… Where $ 500 means about a quarter of a monthly paycheck. She absolutely had no sympathy, and our family insisted that this was an unheard of policy. …stranded in houston… Thanks holiday inn express!

Great weeklong stay. Awesome location to the convention center and Toyota Center. We walked to both at day and night. Safety first, of course, things seemed isolated but it was fine. Bus stop right on the corner as well. We had a car and the proximity to the highways was excellent.
Prices were extremely increased for conventions, big weekend’s but that’s expected in the industry.
Breakfast was fine. Turkey sausage was available. Fresh fruit and hard boiled eggs for those that don’t want processed foods. Cookies and milk and lemonade available after 4. Social hour during the week. Free parking for the first vehicle was a huge plus.
Clean and spacious room. They had a sink with fridge and microwave PLUS plastic plates and plasticware. The little things were thought of for a comfortable.

Most amazing stay. Renee at the front desk was the best. He went above and beyond to help me. Will definitely stay here next year too. The location is perfect. Just a block and half from the convention center, restaurant are at walking distance. All and all I enjoyed the stay.

This hotel is definitely one of the nicest hotels in which I’ve stayed. Breakfast was decent, pool and hot tub were perfect, room was nice and tidy, and they had cookies.

Front desk staff is amazing and very knowledgeable in the surrounding areas!!! Enjoyed our stay very much!!! Clean comfy rooms!!!

unfortunately i never rate a hotel a «poor hotel» … the staff was great, and we had no issue with any of them, or the general property. we (my wife and my 5 month old daughter) did have an issue at this property, within the room. our room did have a slight damp smell when we walked in, which i understand, as a hotelier, it can happen, we can put up with that. we used a crib, that we had requested for my daughter, which the hotel provided. at approximately 3am, my daughter woke up crying extremely heavily, which she normally sleeps through the night. my wife and i had attempted to calm her, and it just would not happen. finally around 8am my wife decided to change her clothes, to see if that would help, to her surprise my daughter had 2 red «bites» on her back, 4 bites on her left arm, and a few on her leg. i was SHOCKED.
I still overlooked it, thinking that she «broke out» with something, since we were headed out of town, and on Monday 10/​27/​2014 we took her to her pediatrician and the we asked the doctor what it was, and told us exactly when we had thought, she had been bitten my bed bugs. I normally do not take the time to take write lengthy comments, anymore, but this truly did upset my wife and I.

Not my best choice for a hotel. Smells weird. When you first walk in there is a very strong scent of perfume like they are trying to cover up a smell. My room did smell very odd, the smell is hard to explain. The A/​C didn’t work well at all. I have never paid as much as I did at this hotel. Three nights stayed and the total was $ 967! I usually stay at Marriot brand hotels and I thought I would give this hotel a shot. This was my first stay at a Holiday Inn Express and my last.

Staying here from May 23, 2014 to the25th for COMiCPALOOZA at the George R. Brown convention center. Check in flowed very smoothly and quickly thanks to Rene, the Front Desk attendant. They put us in room 212, a king-​sized bed. The room was very clean.
Wished they posted that the room had a mini fridge and a microwave that way we could’ve brought more home food to cut down some costs from the convention and eat healthy-​ish. A bit of warning: the side tables are kid height… like 13mos little boy height. Lol so the phone and the alarm clock were button mashed. Wifi sucked. so just stick to your data plan.
The bathroom was a bit squished but everything worked.
The first night was alright. The a/​c did help some with drowning out noise but with nerds coming in at all hours and you can feel when the doors closed made getting sleep a bit of a challenge.
Breakfast was pretty good. I didn’t try it but there was this cool auto pancake maker in the corner. I did appreciate the high chairs for our little one.
Unfortunately we had a family emergency so we had to check out early. Since we booked through
it’d be a bit of jumping through hoops for any type of refund
But all n all our stay was fairly comfortable and the convenience of the location is a big sell. So we’ll stay here again in the future

First off: If you want a reliable internet connection, DON’T get a room on the fourth floor! My room was on 4 and the internet is spotty at best, and sometimes slower than dial-​up if it works at all. My drain was broken in the shower so everything would pool around my ankles, a problem that shouldn’t exist in a hotel that cost the SAME per night as the Venetian in Vegas…
That being said, the staff was very friendly, especially at the front desk. The breakfast is much more than you would normally experience at a hotel, with biscuits and gravy, bacon, pancakes, all sorts of goodies. Also, the beds were extremely cozy.

This hotel is very close to the George r brown convention center. It’s a com isn’t alternative to the Hilton Americas hotel if you’re on a budget. If you rent a car, there’s available parking out front and the hotel is located just off the 45 freeway. The freeway can be a little irritating during rush hour, but it’s a small exit so the traffic doesn’t get too bad. The hotel itself isn’t stellar for its price of $ 375 a night, but it’s conscientious and less pricey than the neighboring hotels.
The hotel offers free breakfast. There’s eggs, hot sauce, sausage or bacon (never both) and biscuits with gravy. If you’re in a rush, there’s cereal and yogurt too.
There’s also a pool. It’s very nice looking, but they use a lot of chlorine. You might want to avoid it if you have sensitive skin.

Neat, clean, great service… not 5 star because it’s not super accessible. Front desk peeps are amazing.

If you don’t want to read too much, I’ll summarize by saying that two words best describe this Holiday Inn: good enough.
I was in town for a conference at the Hilton Americas, but that hotel is about $ 500 per night, whereas the Holiday Inn Express is the only one within walking distance that takes the government rate. My only other experience at a Holiday Inn was during a high school band trip in Orlando where they decided it was completely appropriate to host a group of high schoolers and a pornography convention at the same time, and the Houston Holiday Inn was definitely a lot better than that.
The common areas were surprisingly nice. They had a pool and hot tub on the first floor, a few sitting areas, and a small, but very well-​maintained fitness center with two treadmills, an elliptical machine, a recumbent bike, and a common TV. Everything in the common areas also seemed really clean. I wasn’t a huge fan of their continental breakfast, and the hot items looked pretty terrible, but they did have coffee, cereal, milk, fruit, toast, and other basics, so anyone could probably find SOMETHING they like.
Service was fantastic. Every employee I encountered during my 5-​night stay was incredibly nice, helpful, and even cheerful. The auto checkout process also made my life easier; they just slip the bill under the door on your checkout day and charge the credit card on file unless you go to the front desk and tell them otherwise. Wifi worked well in every part of the hotel I went to, and it’s free.
So why only three stars? The room itself wasn’t great. Most components were fine. The beds and pillows were comfortable, and the TV worked fine, and it was nice that they had a mini fridge and microwave in case I wanted to buy food or heat up leftovers. The thermostat, however, was a huge problem. It seemed to only have two settings: too cold or hot and humid. I woke up in the middle of the night every single night feeling either chilly or sweating profusely, and having to readjust the thermostat.
The shower was an even bigger problem. On the plus side, there was consistent hot water, but the shower head has an extremely wide spray, and the shower curtain rod is positioned such that there is a one-​foot gap between the curtain and wall, so the water gets all over the floor. I usually participate in hotel programs that allow you to reuse towels, but at this hotel it was impossible, because I needed almost all the towels to soak up the water on the floor so I would trip and fall.
Also, while the bathroom was cleaned well on a daily basis, you could tell it hadn’t been deep cleaned in a few years, if ever. For example, looking at the shower head or in that drain hole thing on the back of the sink literally made me nauseous because of all the mold and lord only knows what else that was growing in there.
Despite the problems, I would definitely stay in this Holiday Inn Express again if I had to be in this particular area on a budget. None of the problems were dealbreakers for the price, but if I could afford to stay elsewhere, I would have stayed elsewhere.

Nice and clean with good amenities. Only down side I found was limited parking. But everything else was nice during my stay.

This was my second trip to Houston for work in less than a month. This hotel was perfect. The location is outstanding and on a corner of downtown right by the Toyota Center (where the Houston Rockets play).
The people behind the front desk were all very professional, courteous and helpful. The hotel itself was decorated tastefully, as well as the room itself. Nothing too cheesy or insanely hotel-​ish. The pool area was very nice and had an eye-​catching waterfall. They served breakfast everyday as well and other snacks in the evenings which I never had a chance to partake in. Parking in the front is limited, and the back lot is kind of a pain to get to since it is all fenced in and the streets surrounding the hotel are all one-​way.
My room was quiet, it came with a large fridge, microwave, the bathroom was very nice, the king size bed was surprisingly comfortable, as well as the pillows which I can be picky about.
A suggestion is to have a tag to put on the door that says something along the lines of not needing housekeeping to come in and make your bed, clean and tidy up everyday. I didn’t need that, and there was no door tag stating anything like that.
Overall, I highly recommend this hotel if you are wanting to stay downtown.

Okay to be honest I love Holiday Inn Express Hotels as a whole. This one was no different… beautifully decorated and clean, friendly and helpful staff, lovely pool area and dining room.
We stayed two nights over the holiday weekend and had a great visit. We had a king suite and it was lovely and comfortable. Each staff person we encountered from the front desk to the maid/​custodians to the dining staff were friendly, courteous and helpful. Normal breakfast offerings as all other Holiday Inn Express locations.
Whomever owns/​manages this hotel should be proud. both of it and of his staff. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

This was my first time staying here, we were in town for a nkotb concert and wanted something close. Glad I picked this place, super close, few mins walking distance. When we checked in we got a goodie bag for being rewards members (free to join).
rooms were comfy, we arrived before check in if they have a room available they will give you one. the cleaning ladies were on our floor when we arrived so it did smell of cleaning supplies. rooms were clean and comfy, candies on pillows, free bottled waters, mini fridge with our own microwave, pool is indoors and small, but both times my son went swimming he was only one there, free milk and otis spunkmeyer cookies and lemonade at 4pm daily, free wi fi, and free breakfast in the mornings until 10am — pancakes, french toast, eggs, biscuits, sausage, muffins, rolls, fruit.
was over all a great experience. staff was friendly, was almost 200.00 for one night not sure if that is standard pricing maybe more if an event is there, last few vacations were disney world so was surprised disney was less than holiday inn
carlos was great — not sure what his title would be maybe maintenance we ran into him several times — he stocked up the cookies, he held the elevator door open, when we left he was outside cleaning the parking lot — but what surprised me even more he was picking up trash off property — trash that was on street near hotel.
