House of Fries

Disappointment prevails. Ordered three large fries: curly, seasoned and waffle with an assortment of sauces. $ 17. For seventeen dollars I would expect more than a less than half full take out box. Fries weren’t even that good, obviously sitting around for awhile and most likely from frozen. Their claims of hand cut are dubious. Do yourself a favor and go to five guys or Freddy’s instead.

Absolutely love this place! We’ve almost tried everything on the menu and have not been disappointed by anything! Love the variety of fries but my favors are the house fries!

Nice lunch spot. The four stars is because they close at four o’clock which is why it’s been so difficult to make it here. Yes, the fries are great and fried up fresh when you order them. Spicy ketchup I can say is actually spicier than Whataburger spicy ketchup. I’d encourage you to call ahead and place your order and pick it up, other than that expect to wait ~10 minutes for your order to be cooked.

Not a bad restaurant. Great friendly service and good wholesome food.

I wanted this place to be good and maybe it would if I did look into the kitchen. The food is your good old greasy burger and fries.
Unfortunately the kitchen is a mess and the people working there did not appear to have cleaning as part of their job description

Great selection, I recommend if its your first time to get the chicken fajita fries and if you leave here hungry you’re doing it wrong.

This place… Is amazing! I went here on Saturday for the first time and I got the breakfast platter. It was divine. Highly recommended.

Don’t be fooled by location — House of Fries is great. Solid burgers, all kinds of fries and sauces, and the breakfast tacos are some of the best on this side of town. Check em out!

Very friendly environment with just good simple food. Nothing fancy but just good food. Food is made to order and has great flavor. I picked this place because it was early and I don’t like breakfast. I was able to order a burger for breakfast which is a major plus for me. It seems as though the breakfast must be pretty good as well because there was a steady flow of people.
Extremely low prices for the amount and quality of food. 6.99 for bacon cheeseburger combo with fries and a drink. Most fast food places cost more than that.
We will be back.

I was passing by the area for work and House of Fries is legit. I live close by so I’m excited that I found this place! I tried the mushroom swiss burger with curly fries and gravy and a drink. It was delicious and all for $ 7! Definitely a nice local spot I will frequent more often
Update!
So I went there again today (back to back days for those counting) and tried the chili cheese burger with their fries and gravy (this time no curly just the regular fries)…man/woman I love this place! Very good little local spot for such a great price! $ 7!

My boyfriend and I came here after looking up a place to grab lunch and found that this place had high reviews and wanted to give it a try.
BACON BURGER
The bacon was so crisp and even though it was just a hamburger with the typical onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and beef. it was soo good! It was the technique in which they put everything together that made it such a delight to me. The meat patty didn’t taste like something you would get out of a fast food franchise and that’s what made it special.
CHILI CHEESE FRIES
The fries were so crisp and perfectly seasoned with the chili and cheese. They were very generous and I found myself only able to eat ¼ of it.
PHILLY CHEESESTEAK
This sandwich was so creamy and yummy. I don’t know how else to describe it. The bread was so crisp and the meat was so tender.
CHICKEN FAJITA FRIES
These fries were so filling! It was like a meal on it’s own, but the the chicken was so flavorful and moist and the fries were so crisp!
Overall experience: I would rate this joint 4.5 stars. I definitely was not expecting the quality of food that I received. The cashier was so friendly and patient while my boyfriend and I were deciding. He recommended the popular fries and was super nice. I will be coming back!

This place is an okay spot. Burger is good and tots are crispy but there’s nothing special about it. Just your typical burger joint. Although the pricing is what makes the place.

I ordered a mushroom swiss burger combo that came with a drink, and, a side (I chose curly fries). The curly fries with gravy sauce tasted so awesome. The mushroom swiss burger was cooked perfectly and not too well done. Another cool thing is that every order comes with a free cookie.

Had a regular cheeseburger with a side of chicken fajitas fries. Burger was good but the fries where excellent — get a fork.
Owner/​manager was on the counter and very friendly.
In an older building in an older part of town but is very clean and organized.

Stopped in today seriously Jonesing for a chili dog. So I got the combo with 2 dogs and a side of chili cheese fries. Oh man it was perfection with cheese! I had a coworker tag along and she had the Philly. She loved it, and her waffle fries. I may have to try that next!

I have driven by this restaurant several times over the years but never stopped by. After reading some Unilocal reviews I decided to try. After all, with a name like that how could I resist?
Today, I went for lunch and ordered their bigger burger with the house made hand cut fries. When I go to a burger place I always order my first burger plain with just tomato and lettuce along with condiments. No cheese, chili, other toppings because I want to see how good the burger actually is. That’s what I did today.
The ½ lb patty on a big soft bun was good. I enjoyed it however I didn’t think it was anything special to warrant a score higher than 3. The hand cut fries were dusted heavily with a cajun type seasoning that IMO detracted from their taste. If you like your fries with that on it then you will like theirs. For me, I wanted to taste the potato and what I tasted was the seasoning over powering the potato taste. I will be nice and give the fries a 3 but again they weren’t my favorites by a long shot.
At the time of this writing this place is averaging 4.5 but I cannot personally agree. I will give it a 3 based on my experience which is still a good score. Would I come back? Yes. It’s a good solid tasting burger. Next time I would ask for plain fries or perhaps get one of their other versions like waffle fries.
Counter service was friendly. It’s too bad they close at 4 pm but I guess they don’t want to stay open later due to the neighborhood.

What can I say…
This place knows how to bring the foods I deeply enjoy together and make it taste soooooo scrumptious.
Well let’s start with their customer service is by far one of the best in houston. They give you that Cheer’s feel… You know (sing it with me) «sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name, and their always glad you came» Gotta LOVE it.
But let me tell you they are surely house of fries for a reason! They put nearly anything on your fries, customized to your liking. I’ve gotten the pulled pork with the nacho cheese on top of season fries!!! my gosh. && the best is the seasoned curly fries (extra seasoning) with the cheese and chicken fajita! Sweet baby jesus it soooooo goood.
In fact I think I’ll be stopping here for lunch today :)

Yes. This place is great– it’s cheap, the food is delicious, and there are a TON of options/​ways to customize your order. The guy behind the counter was SUPER friendly. This isn’t «fancy» burgers, but this is exactly what I want when I’m craving a burger– slightly greasy, perfect amount of cheese, and a good bun. I ordered the seasoned fries and was pretty darn happy about that too– I really liked the seasoning and all of them were the perfect amount of crispy. Yay!

It’s Friday… I don’t have leftovers to eat, so I’ve gotta eat out. I like trying new places, so a quick search on Unilocal led me here. It didn’t mention driving past homes with bars on their windows, though. The restaurant itself is fine; it appears to have been converted from a prior fast food joint.
The workers are very friendly and helpful. I ordered and cheeseburger and their house fries since the waffle fries aren’t made in house. Also, it was cookie Friday! Pleasant surprise. The oatmeal raisin cookie was fine (i.e., exactly what I expected from a non-​home-​baked cookie).
I did enjoy my cheeseburger; thought it was great for the price. The house fries were a little disappointing because I like crispy fries and these were not crispy fries. They had a good potato flavor to them, but were a little limp for my liking. The Cajun ketchup was not that good; next time, I’ll stick with regular ketchup.
Overall, it’s a casual place for a decent burger. Perhaps I’ll venture out and order some specialty fries to split (since a small order is more than enough for me).
