I came here about two and a half years ago during my pre-Yelp days, but I had quite a memorable and lasting experience here with one particular menu item that I absolutely have to comment on: The Tomahawk Ribeye. Big thanks and job well-done to the head chef/sous chef/all other chefs for listing and preparing such an amazing piece of art. Pricey? Yes. Best steak I’ve ever had? Yes. One of the best meals I’ve ever had? Yes again. Best cut of cow in Houston and/or Texas? Probably somewhere up there. I got a mac n’ cheese on the side which didn’t disappoint either. It was well-seasoned and seemingly crafted to go well with red meats. Definitely a side I’d recommend without hesitation. The ambience here is quite upscale, and made the younger, more foolish me feel out of place with my polo, jeans and boat shoes, but luckily, no one seemed to care :). The level of service was good, and what you would expect out of a high-end steakhouse. I can’t speak to other items on the menu, but on the basis of how incredible The Tomahawk was, I can imagine the rest of their menu items are a «cut» above the competition(pun intended). Words can’t describe how delicious the legendary Tomahawk Ribeye was– my experience here is a story I still tell my friends to this day. Do yourself, and your belly, a HUGE favor and indulge in The Tomahawk ASAP.

I went yesterday for my birthday because I was craving the 6 cheese potatoes and a filet. Much to my dismay of course they ran out of it. So I ordered mash potatoes and lobster Mac and cheese. What came at first was potatoes and spinach. I have to say our waitress was great though! So then my 12 oz filet came and I asked for it medium, the outside was so dry it was hard to swallow the last few pieces! So my total bill was about $ 195 and for me I felt like I could of gotten a better meal at Chili’s!

Excellent Service. Very good food but not the best for the price you pay. I will discuss the dishes and provide ratings to accompany it shortly below. The location is prime. The area is great to get lost in and the venues surrounding the restaurant give you an opportunity to scout out either before or after dinner here. The restaurant is also beautiful with the revolving doors which bring back a 30 – 40’s Boston/NY style in décor. The bar area was large and the place was packed(mind you we were out on a Wednesday evening). I ordered a Manhattan and it was skillfully created and tasted amazing. Reservations are recommended especially if you are with a large group like we were. That night we were a party of 12 and we were seated immediately with our table(s) stretched out in the main dining area. The staff works collectively even If you do have a main waiter. The restaurant is also willing to box food for you and send you packing in their fancy to-go bags, although some folks maybe keen to doing their own boxing of the food rather than it go back into the kitchen. Different strokes for different folks but I always tend tip that much more when they do the boxing :) The food sampled between our party: Seared Scallops w/Bacon Jam — 5⁄5 Awesome!!! The scallops by itself were done correctly. The bacon jam was interesting. I could do with or without it. Oysters — 5⁄5 Fresh. I believe they were Blue Point. Ordered quite a few of these around the table and everyone enjoyed it. Oyster on a cracker, topped with cocktail sauce, then layered with horseradish, and then drizzled with hot sauce makes this a fun and amazing snack before the main course. 42 dry age Bone In Ribeye −3÷5 You feel like a king with the amazing presentation on a huge butcher block nestled with kosher salt that is set ablazed with fire. Definitely a dish that has people turning heads and starts up a conversation. Visually it was pleasing. Taste-wise… it was very good but just not great. It was over-salted. Was not as tender as I’m used to having a dry aged bone-in Prime Ribeye. It lacked flavor but I still enjoyed the flavor of ribeye even if some spices were not there. Some prefer to taste more meat and no spice while others like me enjoy 80% meat with some spices and salt to accompany. Not the case here. The portion was huge. It didn’t have too much gristle so that was a good thing in my book. Especially if the gristle is far from tasting like butcher’s butter or buttery fat. I’d go back again but may pass on the steak personally. Red Snapper — 5⁄5 This was one of the specials of the day. My wife ordered this and I’m glad she did. It was amazing. Phenomenal. Tasty. Fresh. Well-executed. If they have it then do yourself a favor and order it! Fried Brussel Sprouts — 5⁄5 Not for everyone but I truly enjoyed this. Nice crisp texture on the outside and nicely crusted with the right amount of salt. Lobster Mac n Cheese — 4⁄5 Heavy but that was expected. Many folks loved it. We had lot’s of left overs and people were not ashamed to get it boxed away to take home. I’d order it again but not so large of a portion because then it becomes too much of the filler as a main course then as a side dish as intended but hey! It’s mac n cheese. It can be a main course for many people including me depending on my craving any given evening. Asparagus — 3⁄5 Tasted fresh. Didn’t have that snap but still flavorful nonetheless. I feel this is a staple next to mashed potatoes to accompany a steak. Six Cheese Potato — 5⁄5 One of the table’s favorite. Between this and the mac n cheese I’m surprised many of the folks at the table were able to finish their meals. It was that good even though that heavy. Needless to say we were in food coma and heaven all at one time afterwards and going out didn’t cross our minds… more like getting home to ‘veg’ out and relax :) I’d definitely come back but will try other great things on the menu like their double-cut pork chop, lobster bisque, Jonah claws, the beef cheeks and bone marrow, and some of the refreshing salads they had to offer. I hope this was helpful!

We went to celebrate my son’s 19th Bday. Honestly, not impressed with the food. We order onion rings as appetizer. They were good, just plain onion rings with ketchup. When they brought us the food, all the waiters got confused with who was getting what. They gave me the steak when I was having a salad. They served his girlfriend a salad when she was having a steak. My son got a 20 oz steak and Mac and lobster Mac and cheese. Very skimpy with the lobster, by the way. We both got salmon Caesar salad. Salmon had no flavor and very dry. Salad was just romaine lettuce and shaved Parmesan cheese. The service was excellent though. They gave my son a III Forks gift card for his birthday(nice detail). My son got a piece of cake from the house which was good. Then my husband ordered coffee and he had to return because it had no flavor at all. They brought him a better one.

The cheese potatoes were excellent!!! Biggest disappointing moment was when I took a bite of the lamb and it tasted rank… took a big whiff and it smelled like road kill. The lamb was rotten and should not have been available for human consumption. Foie gras was salty. Service was ok. Our server was great, but I guess the chef was too embarrassed to come out and apologize for serving rotten lamb and salty foie gras. No wonder the restaurant had so few patrons. I will not be going back there.

My husband and I came here last night to celebrate a once in a lifetime day for me. We wanted to celebrate at a steakhouse and try a new place so we came here. The reason I had to give it a one star is because of our server. He started the night off by making a sexist comment to me which I let go but unfortunately it continued all night. He also made rude comments about some foods allergies that I told him about before ordering. He continued to make these comments all night to my husband such as «she just likes to make things difficult right?»(in reference to my allergies), «you sure you trust her with a steakknife?»(When putting out the knives), «you have to give her her space when she eats”(when my husband said no to having his plate moved to my side), and when we asked about dessert returned to the table came to me and said „we only have mixed berries for you“, then turned to my husband and said» but we’re going to have a lot of fun with you!” And proceeded to list the entire dessert menu for him. This was the last straw and the whole evening was ruined for me by the way this person treated me, with comments coming out of nowhere. I did not say or do anything to deserve this kind of behavior. In fact he kept going despite me sitting there not saying a word. In any place, fancy or not, this behavior is unacceptable by an employee. Unfortunately I can’t get this day back. I thought about talking to the manager on the way out but didnt want to make a scene and have it ruin my day further but my husband and I felt that we dont want this to happen to someone else(especially when you pay so much for a nice dinner) so are writing about it here. The food was okay, I think we liked it least compared to all the other steakhouses we’ve been to. It is just as expensive so I would suggest going somewhere else. McCormick’s is just a few steps away so thats another option and they have a nice outdoor seating area.

DInner was amazing, we were there for a birthday dinner and the atmosphere was perfect. Our server David D was on point the entire night giving us minute by minute updates on our food. I had the lamb medium and they were amazing!

Three of us went here for dinner on September 16th to celebrate a friend’s birthday dinner(she is all about the Tenderloin Salad). The hostess wanted to seat us in a booth in the main dining room; thanks, but we’d prefer a table. And the lighting was horrendous. Why are they so afraid to let you actually see anything?! So, we requested to sit in the bar area — which was still well lit at 6 pm — and what does the hostess do… offer us seating in a booth. If we didn’t want it in the main dining room, what makes you think we suddenly changed our mind for the bar? Two of us ordered the Lobster Bisque; I recommend passing on this bland concoction with very little lobster. One of the most underwhelming dishes I’ve ever had. The Tenderloin Salad is another story — it is a menu favourite for a reason. Well proportioned and flavourful; plenty to satisfy your dinner appetite. All is going well and then it hits you… out of nowhere… no warning, no easing into it gradually…“mood” lighting! Bam! Suddenly, you think you’ve just put on your sunglasses. There is a part of me that might be ok with it if the clientele in the bar looks like they may be on a date… but it was obvious that most of the tables were filled with what appeared to be convention attendees(groups of 8 or more guys) or those having a girls’ night out. Seriously… annoying as all get out. Why, managers, why??? But our waiter was da’ bomb! Funny, attentive, and he gave us complimentary Irish Crème shots to celebrate. He, alone, deserves five stars.

I cam here for a team celebration lunch. Our coordinator was smart and booked an early(11:00am) lunch reservation for the 8 of us. By 11:30, this place was hopping. I had to come late and meet up with the rest of my team. To prevent delays to their dining experience, I sent my friend in with my order that she could place with everyone else’s. And herein lies how it went from five stars to four. The menu online was sparse. I think lunch entrees come with a choice of appetizer? I couldn’t tell, and the servers weren’t helpful about explaining it when I got there. Iced tea? A friend ordered this, and it tasted like coffee. One of the servers took accountability and got her a new one, which was nice. But, I had to order my Arnold Palmer twice. No refill. And that’s how we went from four stars to three. It’s a nice place. The food is obviously good. I think for the price point, their menus could be a lot more obvious and their service could be on the drinks a little more.

First time trying III Forks for Houston Restaurant Week with the bf and was very impressed with their selection of food on the menu. It was only $ 35/person for a 3 course meal as well. I highly recommend the lobster bisque, rainbow trout, and for those who are chocoholics… the chocolate mousse is a must try. In addition, we also ordered a side of the 6 cheese potatoes(I’m so glad I visited the gym beforehand) but it’s totally worth it. Moreover, the servers are very attentive and wonderful.(S/O to Mason who made our first experience at III Forks so wonderful…)we will be returning again in the near future. I enjoyed every minute I spent at this establishment. The only thing though is the horrible parking situation and construction work going on outside cause it is downtown Houston after all… so I recommend their valet service($ 10) or there is a parking lot across the street that is $ 10(some can be as high as $ 18/hr).

This place was an utter disappointment and I would recommend you save your time and money and go anywhere but here. We came in a group of 8 and did the HRW Menu. The service was awful and rushed from the minute we sat down. We ordered everything at the beginning of the meal and it felt like a race for the wait staff to steal the plates out from under us when we finished. The salad I had was mediocre, my filet mignon was undercooked and the portion left me longing for more. Desert was by far the worst course. The highlight(and I mean this sarcastically) was when the waiter brought the candle lit dessert to the wrong person, and then, after being told of his mistake, pushed the dessert over to the birthday girl and left the other dining patron without her third course. Please, if you do give this place a chance, DONOT get the leaf lime pie. Everything about this place was underwhelming and underdone for the price. Also, parking is awful. Valet is $ 10 and there are only parking sketchy garages around. Do yourself a favor and pick a different steak house in Houston.

We went here for the first time to celebrate our 8 year wedding anniversary. We had heard good things, but were a little skeptical when we arrived for our 7:30 reservation and there were only 3 other tables seated in the whole restaurant. Luckily, that meant nothing. We were very impressed with the staff, service, food and ambiance. Everything was delicious and the staff treated us like royalty. It was quite a treat. This place is expensive, so not somewhere we would go to for a date night once a month, but I think we will definitely be back for special occasions. They even gave us a huge slice of chocolate ganache cake for free because it was our anniversary!

First if all let me just say downtown road construction is never ending! Ughhh :/ Anyway, I went to this place on a Wednesday after work and it was great! The bar menu is awesome and the regular dinner menu is phenomenal. I’m definitely going to return… If you work downtown and can walk, that would be best given the bad road construction right now. I took the Greenlink bus, but since that ends at 630, staying later won’t be an option Yummy yum yum

My really good friend who used to live in Houston was in town and we decided to go paint the town red on a Friday night. But before all the drinking that was about to happen, FOOD! He was staying at the Hyatt Regency so originally we were going to just go up the elevator toward the Spindletop. However, by the time we were ready to go, it was already about 9:30 pm and the Spindletop closes at 10:00 pm. I’m not a big fan of Shula’s, and III Forks closes at 11:00 pm so, III Forks it is. We Ubered our way to the restaurant and it was pretty dead for a Friday night. However, it was Good Friday, so I’m guessing not a lot of people went out to get steak. We were seated immediately by the super nice hostess who actually stuck around a little bit to converse with us. Our waiter, Augustine, came by our table not too long after to introduce himself. He asked us if we were celebrating anything. Originally, my friend was going to mess with him and be all like, «yes, we’re celebrating our first anniversary» but decided not to. But if he had, we probably would’ve received a free cake or something. He took our drink orders. We both opted for the margarita. It was delicious! They use Patron for the tequila based. Augustine then briefly informed us what the specials for the day were and gave us a few more minutes to look through the menu. I ordered what I always order at a steakhouse — Filet Mignon, medium rare. I opted for the 8 oz because I wanted to save some room for dessert. I also opted for no toppings on my steak. My friend ordered the Prime rib — 16 oz, also medium rare. Augustine informed us that the steaks would take 20 – 25 minutes until they’re ready so I ordered some Onion Rings while we waited. We also ordered some Lobster mac and cheese for the side. The Onion Rings came out pretty quickly, and these were damn good Onion Rings. Only lightly breaded and not too greasy. Are they really worth $ 11? Probably not. However, I realized that I was dining at a Prime Steakhouse and everything here would have a premium tagged on. Onion Rings were no exceptions. When the steaks came out, unfortunately, Augustine did not ask me to cut the steak to see if my steak was cooked to my liking(this seems to be standard practice at any other prime steakhouses). Fortunately though, my steak was cooked well to my liking — warm red center. Also, I didn’t really have too high of an expectation for the steak, but surprisingly, I really enjoyed it. The crust was perfect and it tasted better than expected. So, yay III Forks! The Prime Rib came on beds of Mashed Potatoes. Like, two giant scoops of mashed potatoes. So, if you’re thinking about getting the Prime RIb, keep that in mind. You will be full, you will be ridiculously full. The lobster mac and cheese was also delicious. I’ve had lobster mac and cheese at other restaurants before and the«lobster» part would usually just be really tiny pieces of lobster that you could barely taste or anything. But here, they actually gave you chunks of lobsters all over the mac and cheese, and they didn’t hold back. There was a lot of lobster chunks in there, which they better had for the $ 20 price tag. During out dining experience, the(whom I assumed was the) manager stopped by to ensure that everything was okay. Augustine was really attentive and my water was always full. All in all, I had a great experience at III Forks. The food was delicious, drinks were good, the service was awesome. In a city where prime steakhouses are plenty, III Forks is a good option if you’re looking for something in the downtown area.

I dined at III Forks this past weekend. sort of by chance. They had reservations available at the time we needed. so we went with it. I was a little reluctant, as I am not a huge fan of chains, but I decided to give it a whirl. I was really not disappointed at all! When we arrived, we were seated immediately in the main dining area. It was very lively, full, and somewhat loud. We adjusted to the volume pretty quickly though. Our server came to greet us quickly and got our drink order in. We decided on the seafood combo appetizer, which really only serves one person. We got two(our server recommended this, glad we went with it). We both got filet’s(med rare, the only way a steak should be cooked!) with the oscar topping, and a side of the brussel sprouts. We destroyed that meal! I don’t think there was one bite left of any plates whatsoever. The appetizer was really tasty, the scallop was my favorite part with the bacon jam. The crab cake and shrimp were also good. The steak was cooked wonderfully– and the oscar topping added a richness but wasn’t overdone. There was more crab than bernaise(hey I am not complaining.) so it didn’t overtake the filet. The asparagus was breaded and fried– so I actually didn’t eat that. The brussles were fantastic! Crispy, flavorful, and delicious. The service was attentive, the manager came by our table twice to check on everything. We ordered a good bottle of wine with dinner, and the wine sommelier came by and was very nice. All in all– it was a great dinner! I would definitely dine here again.

III Forks was ok… not my favorite of the high end steak joints in H-town. I went with a buddy and we munched on about $ 300 worth of appetizers, soups, steak, sides, and bourbon. They have a good selection of appetizers… I’d recommend the scallops, and the French Onion soup is pretty solid as well. The 12 oz. filet was moderate… I ordered medium and found that it was a little undercooked and the King’s butter topping was not as yummy as I was hoping it would be. At this price level, I’ve had better steaks at Pappas, Ruth’s, and V&A’s. I was also a little miffed at the service… our waitress forgot to put the appetizer order in and then tried to play it off like it was just taking a long time… then, she must have put it in twice, because two eventually came out and they had to take one back to the kitchen. She also had no idea what we were talking about when making some specific cocktail requests and had to clarify with the bartender. No serious issues, just distracting at this price point. BOTTOMLINE: Not a bad premium steakhouse if you are looking for some variety, but definitely wouldn’t be in my top 3 for Houston. I probably won’t eat here again.

Everyone, please review the following list of restaurants and email me with your choice for our team lunch. III Forks Morton’s Steakhouse Massa’s Seafood Grill Andalucia My coworkers who bothered responding all voted for III Forks, which was by far the priciest restaurant. Great, we’re on the same page. It was pretty dead on a Thursday, which I didn’t mind because it was a business lunch, after all. I didn’t want to have to raise my voice at my boss. We shared the calamari(off the menu) as an appetizer, and it was really tasty. It’s different from those small rings you’re used to seeing– they serve entire strips of squid, which is more satisfying. My boss ordered the filet mignon because he can. Some people had the ribeye. Everyone else, including me, had the fish special of the day– mahi, snapper, and scallops. They committed the biggest offense at a steakhouse– they overcooked the steak. My blackened mahi was pretty good, but the snapper was sooooooo dry and tasteless. I like snapper but… no. It was awful. The bacon wrapped scallops were the saving grace. I realize this is trivial, but our server packed up my leftovers and didn’t include my sides of asparagus and sauteed spinach. What’s the thought process behind packing up only a portion of the food on my plate? This is why I prefer to do it myself. III stars for III Forks.

I went here last Friday with a group of my girlfriends for HRW. Best decision ever! I started off with a glass of the cakebread cab. They had a special that night and sold the bottle by the glass. I was told that they usually only sell it by the bottle. I started off with the III Forks salad and it was so delicious! The apples and walnuts really added to the salad and the dressing was just perfect. It had this amazing sweetness to it but it was not over powering. I picked the surf and turf for my entrée and wow I think my friends and I agree that the steak was by far the BEST steak we have had in awhile. The meat was just so tender and juicy and it was cooked to perfection. It went amazingly with my glass of cab. I definitely liked my steak more then the lobster tail. For dessert I had the strawberry shortcake. I didn’t really get to eat it that much because I was so full off the entrée. The fatty in me just couldn’t stop eating to save room for dessert. We ordered a side of the lobster mac and cheese and lets just say it was noms. I will definitely want to come back here and just order the steak from now on. So delicious!
