Amazing from start to finish. Absolutely the best service we have ever had. Phillip was thorough, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate. It shows he loves his job and the company. He is an expert on the menu items and making suggestions. We started with the Lobster deviled eggs. First, these are deconstructed with the boiled eggs served with large chunks of lobster. In a jar is the yummy mustard filling with sweet crispy bacon. Your fingers will get a little messy building these, but worth every bite! You get 6 halves. There is a bit of a spiciness drizzled over the eggs. I could eat a dozen of these. The lobster is cooked perfectly and the big size gives a great lobster taste. We both got the turtle soup. Phillip informed us the soup has snapper turtles and bits of steak. Served piping hot, savory flavor, and loaded with meat. Entrees: I had the special which was a NY strip topped with fried oysters and bernaise served with grilled asparagus. Our waiter informed us all their steaks are dry aged in house producing a beefy moist and tender steak. My steak was simply seasoned with salt and pepper. It was seared perfectly giving me the crusty exterior I long for. Rich deep beef flavor and each bite melted in my mouth. I ordered medium rare and it was served medium rare, for lesser steak houses this is a challenge. If only I could eat all my steaks here. The oysters were fried but still fresh tasting and delectable. The asparagus are those short fat ones that take to grilling perfectly so they stay juicy and plump. Heath got the filet duo. This consisted of two filets cooked medium rare topped with seafood. His filets were on top of thick potatoes then one had crab on top and the other shrimp. Both steaks cooked spot on being moist and delicious. We were trying to decide on the mac n cheese or au potatoes. Phillip suggested the au gratin but add sautéed jalapeños on too to give that Texas kick. We did as suggested and the best I have ever gotten. So cheesy, gooey goodness. Why did I not think of adding jalapeños before? Somehow we managed to eat dessert! Heath got the off menu chocolate bread pudding. It is chocolate bread made into bread pudding and topped with ice cream with a side of raspberries and whipped cream. Truly decadent. I had the marshmallow dessert with Heath crumbles covered with chocolate ganach. Wonderful chocolate taste with a good amount of marshmallows. This will be my new favorite steak restaurant.

Bravo Pappas Bros Steakhouse, you may take a bow! I dined here with a large party, approximately 80 people. Usually with a party of this size, even the finest of establishments cannot execute effective and efficient service; however, this restaurant takes the crown. The food was served hot and fresh and the wait staff was very attentive. I cannot wait to visit again and enjoy a more intimate dining experience.

There are those special moments in each of our lives worth celebrating. For my fiancé and me, our recent engagement was just such a moment. We decided Pappa Bros Steakhouse would be the place to go to create even more unforgettable memories. Despite the hubbub and buzz that surrounds a restaurant of this caliber on a busy Saturday evening, we were immediately welcomed into the Pappa Bros family and made to feel like we were the only guests dining in the restaurant that evening. The attention that was showered upon us is unlike anything I have experienced before. I am a wine novice, however; our sommelier Brandon, quickly put us at ease did not lead us astray. His recommendations were on point and complimented our meal very well from beginning to end. After being warmly and promptly greeted by Melissa, our server for the evening, I immediately knew my fiancé and I had made the right decision by choosing to celebrate our engagement at Pappa Bros. Our dining experience was only enhanced by her professionalism and attention to detail. The level of service she provided was seamless, flawless, and without fail. Melissa never left us wanting for anything. We started our meal with a seafood tower. To say this is a «tower» of food is somewhat of an understatement. The portions were beyond generous… a mountain of perfectly chilled shrimp, crab claws, and lobster. We also enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops appetizer. As the name suggests… crisp bacon tightly wrapped around plump scallops server atop a crostini. Melissa suggested a porterhouse for two as our main course and the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Each and every bite was more delectable than the one before. This was by far one of the best steaks I have eaten. Our meal was enhanced by mashed potatoes and Haricot vert. Both side dishes were outstanding and you could easily tell they were prepared and given no less attention than the finest cut of meat served at Pappa Bros. We finished our meal with a «slab» of cheesecake. This isn’t your ordinary, run of the mill cheesecake and isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s a towering hunk of sweet goodness with a crumbly graham cracker crust. Absolutely divine! To be sitting next to the person I love… enjoying a perfectly executed dinner service from beginning to end, made for a most magical evening. It’s definitely a memory I will hold close to my heart. Thank you Pappa Bros Steakhouse!

This newly opened restaurant has figured it out– offer excellent service, food and wine and people will come, again and again. This was one of the finest filets I have ever had, Friday eve after the dental convention — a standing ovation, what a remarkable experience, see you again in Houston! Thank you!

We decided to check out this new location and found this place is very comfortable and inviting… We only had drinks and appetizers which were very good, but I would love to come here for lunch! Please open for lunch on Fridays??! I would rather spend my money here than the other«high end’ restaurant down the street.

Pappas Bros Steakhouse exceeded my expectations by far! We reserved a private party room for a family celebration on a Saturday night and I was definitely blown away by the impeccable service and top notch food. For an appetizer, I split the lobster deviled eggs with my SO. They were delicious, but since it comes with 6 deviled eggs, I would advise to split them between 3 – 4 people. My entrée was the special of the night. A 8 oz filet mignon with mushroom risotto, topped with lump crab. It was outstanding. My filet mignon was perfectly medium rare and the mushroom risotto was an excellent addition. Our table split a couple of sides like the mushrooms and the mac and cheese. Both were great portions for the entire table. The wine selection is also on point. They have a 150 page wine list and the sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in selection for a big table. They also were great about making sure the table never had a wait for the next bottle to be served. Between the incredibly attentive staff and the wide food selection, I’d definitely recommend Pappas Bros for any celebratory dinner!

I wasn’t super impressed with this place. And for the prices, I feel like you should be! PROS Filet mignon was great. Huge wine selection. Scalloped potatoes were pretty good. CONS This place is SOLOUD. The ambient noise was deafening. It was so hard to hear the people you were with even when you are sitting right next to them. The NY Strip was not good at all. Way fattier than it should have been. The steaks were not cooked according to your order. I ordered medium rare, and mine was defintely on the low end of rare! The BF got Medium and his was just barely medium rare. I know we technically could have sent them back, but we just sucked it up and ate them anyway. The service was rather slow. I was kind of surprised with this, since there seem to be staff members around constantly. Our drinks would sit empty for quite some time before we were asked if we wanted another. Moral of the story… I’ll stick with Perry’s or Sullivan’s next time.

When it comes to finding a restaurant to dine in Houston, there seems to be no end in sight… Especially a steak house. We Decided that pappas Bros steak house would be the spot to celebrate our special occasion. Our reservation was on Saturday evening and I must say, the restaurant was popping. We started with a nice rosé to compliment our seafood tower… Which is absolutely delicious. The medium seafood tower proved to be a challenge that we gladly met and conquered. Our waitress, Melissa, is beyond amazing. Full of charm and warmth with a dash of sassy. Very much enhanced our dinning experience. She was always aware… Water levels/wine levels never in need… definitely generous with the fresh hot bread and butter… She does this thing where we were made to appear noble as we ate(we are slobs and we know it. Kept the table tidy and clean.) smashing job indeed. Our somm was definitely a charmer. Knew exactly where we wanted to go and delivered. For the meal: We had a delicious French red to go with the meal: coudoulet de beaucastel — very approachable, lush and savory. We had the new work strip for two and my, my… What a beautiful cut. The steak was prepared medium with a nice charred exterior. Lightly seasoned with a little bit of salt and pepper and carved table side on a butcher block. Haricot vert– steamed, plentiful and bathed in buttery perfection. Augratin potatoes– with sautéed jalapeños over the top… Need I say more? Never again will We have them any other way. Just when we thought we had conquered all… out comes the biggest slice of cheese cake I’ve ever had the pleasure of eating. Compliments of the Chef as well. It is pretty much the best we’ve ever had… And a must for any cheese cake enthusiast. The meal was absolutely amazing. Delicious, hearty, a must and generous are all synonyms i would use to describe this fine establishment. I am proud to say that Pappas Bros Steak House will now be our ‘go to’ spot for many more to come. Cheers!

Not anywhere near worth the prices! Service is horrible and slow. Even with a reservation we had to cool our heels for 45 minutes for our table to be prepared and another 30 minutes until a waiter finally got around to taking our order! The entrees were delivered incorrectly at the table. They attempted to rip us off with the bill by charging for a wine that was over $ 100 more expensive than the bottle we drank! The excuse given by the sommelier was that he put the wrong number in «accidentally». This was a tortuous experience made worse by the inflated prices.

After getting a condescending call from a manager after our bad experience this weekend, I’m downgrading my review to one star. I’m sure she intended for the call to be nice, but, when I tried to nicely give her feedback, she basically told me that I was mistaken and didn’t know how restaurants work, including telling me that there’s often a wait, even with reservations, at «restaurants of their caliber,» as if I’ve never been to a nice restaurant – I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by the rude call, given our poor experience. Let’s just say that I’ve never been treated so poorly at other«nice» restaurants.

I’m torn on this rating. 5 stars is WAY overstating it. 4 will have to do. Let me explain. It’s the little things, the finest things in service that show. First off, the wait staff is mostly new — and it shows. From attempting to pour you tap water when you want bottled water and not even asking if this is okay(not once, but nearly twice). I get you want to serve me water. Good. Just let me decide before you pour, thanks. I would say our waiter was spot on – he knew the menu well, and the wine selection as well. Excellent. He knew how to describe to the chef how I liked my steak and they got it spot on. He wasn’t pushy, or rushing us. But there is something different about this new location for Papa’s — maybe its the valet service or the waitstaff. It might take a bit to iron out the kinks. It’s just not quite on par with the location on Westheimer. I will say this: the décor is impressive, although just slightly below the other Houston location. Very impressive overall, but a few tweaks here and then, and you’ll have it down. I’d take a date here, for sure. Even for a second date :)

We are regular guest at their Wertheimer location, but tried the new downtown restaurant for the first time. Same fantastic food, same attentive service and an extensive wine list. I had their lobster deviled eggs for starter which was excellent and the 16oz NY Strip as a main, which was to die for. Total bill for 2 including a bottle of wine was $ 400. The only reason I did not give 5 starts is that I personally like the atmosphere in the Wertheimer location better.

We have been to the other location and enjoyed it, which enticed us to try the new Downtown location! The service was impeccable and the food was top notch. We both enjoyed the bacon wrapped scallops for appetizer, 8&12 oz filets paired with the crab macaroni and green beans! We finished the meal with a Key Lime Pie and Crème Brûlée!!! Both extremely delicious.

I don’t want to like Pappas Bros as much as I do but it is great. The downtown location is convenient and comfortable. I recommend the ribeye as I like a fattier cut than the filet. We went to a birthday dinner with a bunch of people who take their time(soooo slow) but the servers were patient and took care of us. ALWAYS order the grilled asparagus. You’re welcome for that nugget!

This was our first time here at Pappas Steakhouse. I really want to give it 5 stars. The service was excellent. It’s a very attractive interior. Not all the steaks are aged, but the NY strips are. Here’s what we ordered: 16oz NY Strip Medium 16oz NY Strip Medium Well The steaks were very good, but a bit tougher than I expected. Flavorful with a «crust» on the outside that was yummy. Both steaks were cooked exactly as ordered.(Although my husband wished he had ordered medium, but they served it the way he asked.) Creamed Spinach Just okay. There was some kind of mystery meat in it. Could have been crab or chicken. Not sure. Mashed Potatoes Skin was mixed inside. I like that, but not everyone does. They sprinkled bacon bits and scallions on top. Good, but not wow-knock-my-socks-off. Baked Potato My husband ordered it with the works: Cheese, bacon, sour cream and scallions. He said he liked it. It is huge. Enough for two(or even three) to share. They serve a loaf of warm bread. Oddly, it’s split in 4 large pieces. You can’t really cut it; we had to tear it by hand to have smaller pieces. I loved that it was light and crunchy on the outside, and soft and airy on the inside. The butter tasted off to me, but my husband thought it was fine. This is kind of a nit pick, but we had ¾ of our bread left and, without asking us, they replaced it with a fresh loaf. I’m sure most people think that’s great. I thought it was a waste. Do they just throw the first loaf out? Also, both soups offered had seafood. I think they should have an option for folks like me who don’t like seafood. A lot of people don’t and it is a steakhouse not a seafood place. Now to the best part: Dessert! My husband ordered the Gooey Pecan Pie. It was amazing. They sprinkle the pecans on top instead of baking them into the pie. This leaves them light and crunchy. It is served with ice cream, whip cream, and a few berries. There is this flavorful kind of molasses cookie or very thin brittle placed on the top. The berries were delicious. Much riper and more flavorful than you get at the supermarket. The whip cream tasted home-made; not out of a can. The combination of the pecan pie(which I recall as being crustless), the cookie, ice cream, and whip cream was heavenly. This is a must-get, must-share dessert. I ordered the cheesecake to go. I took home half my steak, the remaining mashed potatoes, and the loaf of bread. When I picked up the bag it was really heavy. When I got home I discovered why. The slice of cheesecake they gave me is GIGANTIC. See my pictures. I took a taste for the review this morning. Very good — and 3x the amount that you get at Cheesecake Factory for about the same price. And it has a few strawberries, sour cream sauce, and a few large squares of white chocolate. My husband got a coffee drink with alcohol. It was too strong for me, but he liked it. I got a regular cup of coffee that was so-so. I also had a pot of chamomile tea which was delicious. We had no appetizers or drinks(other than the coffee drink) and the bill came to almost $ 200. With tip, about $ 240. Bottom line: Very nice place to go for special occasions.(Unless you are rich.) My husband wants to go back. If we do, I’ll order the filet mignon and try the mushrooms and a different side.

I came here for my friend’s graduation party. The service was awesome! He came by and told me the special of the day, and explained to me all the questions I had about the menu. I then asked for a recommendation and he recommended the special which was a 8oz filet mignon with a south african prawn. Delicious! The steak was cooked perfectly! The prawn was huge! All the appetizer we tried, lobster deviled eggs, fried oysters and a cheese dish. All were amazing. The lobster deviled was perfect, it wasn’t too mustardy or too bland. The fried oysters were great! It wasn’t tiny and dry like most places. The cheese dish was also wonderful. The different cheeses on the plate were all good, and the honeycombs were amazing! During our meal, someone dropped a plate and broke it right next to us and the manager came by to make sure we were all ok and to apologize if it interrupted our meal. Overall, everything was great. Dinner and service!

My husband and I have been coming to Pappas Steakhouse on Westheimer for years for our special occasions. It’s even where he proposed. So for our anniversary this year, we wanted to try the new downtown location to make it feel more like a «night out». Per usual, I have nothing bad to say about the food. Everything we ordered was perfect. But the service was severely lacking. Each and every thing we ordered, from drinks to dessert, took FOREVER to get to us. We’ve never had this problem at the other location, so we’ll definitely just stick to that one. For the money you’re paying at a place like this, this type of service is plain unacceptable.

Met with the Events Manager, Lena, around 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant was empty so I was able to get a really good tour without interruption. The staff buzzed-about as we moved from room to room. Lena described all the work that has been done to create this amazing space! From a huge private dining and event room to smaller rooms they also have a wine room that seats up to 16. Sort of a fishbowl effect but will have curtains that could be drawn. Wood paneled walls throughout give it an old-world romantic feel. Lots of smaller rooms available. Can’t wait to have my event here!

The service was way beneath what you are paying($ 20 per drink, $ 35 for an appetizer, $ 13 for a salad or side, $ 45 for a meal etc). We arrived yesterday sat at the bar and no one greeted us for 7 minutes which was of course when the hostess came up to us to tell us our table was ready. We couldn’t really hear the bartender so we elected to go to our seats to order drinks, which was a mistake as it took awhile to get those. We assumed the server has never worked in a nice restaurant and we felt he was very unware. We had been sitting without any drinks before the server came to greet us. The server(let’s call him D) took our drink order then he proceeded to tell us about the daily items not on the menu. I absorbed none of it as I wasn’t ready to even think about food until we got our drinks. Generally the server should put the drink order in and then come back and ask if we are ready to hear about the menu. And every time he’d set sometime down he’d ask if we were ready to order before we had a chance to even sample what was in front of us. It was bizarre to me. The lobster deviled egg app was not very good. I don’t like onions and nowhere on the menu does it say anything about onions whatsoever, yet the onions were so overpowering that’s all I could taste. D walked by and I was trying to get his attention… he even looked and saw the app sitting there not being eaten. I stopped him and instead of immediately taking the appetizer away and correcting the situation, he seemed to question me: «Is there an allergy» was asked not once, but twice. «Well the onions aren’t overpowering are they?» Etc. I finally got firm with him and said, «look I’m positive as that’s ALL I taste. it’s very disappointing.» He just was very unaware(and then when we wanted him to take our order for another round of drinks as we had none, we had to struggle to get his attention…). He finally took the app away and we ordered foie Gras which was thankfully very good. When asked questions about the rest of the menu and I didn’t get much out of D at all so we winged it. We loved the Caesar Salad but not the cream corn poblano soup, as it was way too sweet and very basic(nothing special). We told D and it’s like it went in one ear and out the other. So we ordered the duo filet entrée to split and I told D I don’t like mushrooms and one of the sauces has that in it so I was trying to get an alternative sauce or just have both filets prepared the same. Another guy must have seen D struggling and he jumped in to help. Get this, D should know by now I don’t like onions. Guess what??? The meal came packed with… ONIONS(on the potatoes). I kid you not we told D and it went in one ear and out the other. He just nodded. I used to be a server and let me tell you: I would have immediately apologetized and done something to correct the situation! I was dumfounded. It was very disappointing. The meal otherwise was just ok. It was very salty. The crab Mac n cheese was just okay and had something hard I bit into, perhaps a shell. So in summary: we had really sub par service that was very frustrating especially given we were at fine dining. The only things we were really pleased with were the Ceasar salad and foie Gras appetizer. Most of our disappointment would have largely been mitigated had we had an aware server.
