I bought a painting on my trip to Bali and carried it with me on my 29 HR flight journey. After taking absolute care to make sure it made it home in perfect condition I knew I couldn’t just trust it to anyone to get it stretched and framed while also working on a tight budget as the painting was quite large. My first call to Michaels and the initial quote was around $ 400 without the frame! I eventually found this little shop and everything front the customer service to their reasonable prices and service quality was superb. Literally ½ the price of a big name store.

Jay was so helpful in framing my Christmas present for my parents! He helped me figure out the perfect frame and made sure I got it in plenty of time before Christmas. I will definitely go here again!

I found Jay’s Frames through a local Unilocal search after buying 2 paintings at the First Saturday Arts Market in the Heights. The Unilocal reviews had high ratings and I wanted to check it out for myself. Plus we had 3 other paintings we’d been meaning to frame with us in the car.
Jay’s Frames is located in a bright aqua-​blue house on Yale Street. There is a small parking lot in the back and you can park your car out front as well.
There were no other customers in the place when we stopped by that afternoon so we were taken care of very quickly. Tamar (sorry not sure if I spelled her name correctly) was our salesperson and she was very friendly from the start. They have a large amount of frame selections and we were pretty overwhelmed since we’re fairly ignorant about the framing process. Luckily Tamar gave us great recommendations and was very patient as we made decisions for each painting we needed framed. We had no idea how much work and selection there is in framing artwork. We spent about 1.5 hours there picking out matting and frames for 5 paintings. If you get tired, there are stools available to sit in as well complimentary, cold bottled water. Oh and added bonus– they were dog friendly and allowed our bored pups to sit with us the whole time we were there!
Fast forward to 2.5 weeks later… Jay called to inform us that our paintings were ready for pickup. We opted for the $ 75 delivery and hanging service which took one hour (additional $$ fee if it takes longer than one hour to hang the paintings). Jay personally came to our house, at the scheduled time, to deliver and hang all 5 paintings. He helped us decide which paintings looked best at each location in the house and even helped us hang an additional painting we had at home for no additional charge. He was so easy-​going and attentive, I would recommend his store and services to anyone!
All of the finished paintings and frames look amazing in our house– Tamar really has a great eye for what she does and guided us in making excellent selections. We had no idea just how a single frame can really pop up a painting.
Prices were definitely more than we had expected but after a thorough search they were fairly reasonable in comparison. Just remember, you get what you pay for and we are extremely satisfied with Jay’s Frames’s work. I wouldn’t hesitate to you use them again.

Known Jay for a while. Honestly does great work, have people that know about art and genuinely want your item to look it’s best. Not like going into Aaron Brothers where it a priority to up sell (don’t let those sales fool you!). They did a phenomenal job with my birthday present brought all the way from New Orleans! The subject looks even more sultry and rich that before! The frame pulls from the drapes around her, gold for the luxe, off white to break it up, and silk brown mat board to add texture. She looks larger than life!

I met Jay at his shop when I first moved to Houston. His shop happened to be on my daily route to work. I’ve had several pieces of art matted and framed and have been very happy with the results. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be using Jays for any future projects. Thanks guys!

We chose Jay’s Frames based on positive Unilocal reviews and location. We also like supporting local small businesses. We had not framed anything since moving to Houston. We brought a large painting on vellum by an artist friend, a vintage poster, three wedding portraits and an abstract painting. All completely different styles. They have a huge array of frames and matting options. Jay has a very nice demeanor and lots of patience. Everything looks perfect. I could not be more pleased with the quality of their work. The large painting was too large for our car. We used their delivery and hanging service. All 6 items were perfectly hung within an hour. That was $ 75 well spent! It would have taken us considerably longer to do it ourselves.

Found Jay’s Frames through Unilocal and wanted to repay the favor to other folks in need of a great local shop. They were extremely helpful in sorting through the dizzying array of matting and framing materials available, making suggestions, and ultimately choosing a combination of colors and textures that were ideally matched to my painting. The work was done in the 2 week time frame they promised, and the final product looked great. I would gladly use them again next time I need something professionally framed.

A local artist suggested I use Jay’s Frames for some work I had purchased and have been more than pleased! They have done matting work to full framing jobs for me and I never walk away disappointed and hand it to these guys to consistently surprise me and I imagine a slew of their other customers. I was a loyal customer of another local shop, but I’m stuck with Jay’s and won’t use another shop no matter how small the job is. Their pricing is very inline with other shops, minus corporate crud, and what better than to support a local independent business. For someone like myself with little to no artistic talent these guys will amaze you with all of the options and choices that fit your piece. BTW pay the extra $ for museum glass, you’ll regret not doing so when it’s hung and you’ve got a glare.

I had a great experience! As someone who has never had anything custom framed before, I didn’t know what I was doing but my piece turned out amazing! The designer really guided me towards great choices and we tried a lot of different options before deciding on the final design. My expectations were exceeded, the price was reasonable, friendly and knowledgeable staff… now I want to custom frame everything!

I love everything about this place! They have so many great frame options and the staff (Josh & Mark) are so helpful with finding the perfect frame & matting to compliment the art prints and family photos I’ve brought in! Our family also got one of our TV’s framed and it looks awesome!

I came in with an unusual project: I wanted to frame some friends’ wedding vows, which were handwritten double-​sided on folded pieces of paper. I wanted them to look interesting in the frame but also to be removable so that my friends could take them out and read them. We worked together for a long time to figure out what would work, and came up with a great solution. The finished product looked awesome. Very reasonable prices and quick turnaround, too.

We wanted to have our flat screen TV framed and I looked at many web sites that offered the service. Then I found Jay’s Frames here in Houston. We went over to their shop and picked up some frame samples. Josh came over and took the measurements and then they made the frame and installed it. It looks great. It cost about half of what the online services charged and the price included coming out and doing the installation. They were great. At the moment they are working on another project for us. Aside from being very professional, they had great suggestions about how to frame and install our artwork. Having the people who framed your artwork come over and professionally do the installation may seem like a luxury, but it really makes a difference.

Josh, Justin, and Mark were very helpful in framing some personal items for our new house. They went above and beyond to work with our budget and make the pieces look better. They have great artistic skill and eye for nice framing! They are all so nice and easy to work with. The turn around time for two pieces was about 2 weeks, which was great!
