Summer is here and I must find ways to keep myself refreshed. I am a fan of the green tea drinks so decided that I needed to try it with actual fruit. Mostly I stick to Bobas but I must say that the weekly Unilocal just has a way of convincing me to try featured places. We ended up here and let me tell you that this place is quite popular. There are several establishments of this kind in the area but this one in particular always seems to be busy. I ended up ordering the green tea with mango, pineapple, and strawberries. The green tea was typical of any you can get around town and the added fruits just really did not infuse it like I thought it would. The pineapple was also a bit bitter but overall the green tea alone was good and the fruit left after, was really just that, fruit left after. Since I was there anyway my sister decided to order the ice cream topped with fruit. I guess they use some sort of process that makes it different from gelato, ice cream, or rolled ice cream. I didn’t care too much to investigate but I must say it is something new to try. I have definitely tasted more flavorful ice cream, gelato, shaved ice, or whatever you wish to call it. This one was a bit bland and the fruit toppings definitely overpowered the taste. I did however enjoy the texture in my mouth! Come if you must.

Whatever fruit you want into a delicious dessert, they have it for you! Love the variety of fruit they put on your dessert. However, don’t bother asking the cashier«what is good» or «what goes good with this» or «what’s the difference between the snow ices» cause my answer was always *pointing to the piece of paper*

Ok… this is not your snow cone kinda place. So when you see shaved ice, don’t think sno-cone. Think cold, creamy, fresh fruity dessert. Here’s the blueprint: Layer of shaved ice on the bottom. Cream/sweetened condensed milk. fresh fruit, fresh fruit and more fresh fruit more sweet condensed milk then a big ol’ scoop of ice cream Holy moly! Yummy! I got the banana/strawberry and chocolate bowl. Medium is almost too big for an after dinner treat or to eat alone. The chocolate syrup mixed with the sweet milk was heaven. My only complaint is that the shaved ice freezes the fruit so it can become hard before you can eat it all. But that’s just being picky. The choices of fruit and combinations of them are almost endless. Take your time to look over the menu pretty good before you choose. Small, medium or large sized. They run about $ 6 – 7 each. The place also offers fresh green teas, juices, smoothies, wheat grass and some other juice bar items… even coffee. Parking SUCKS and the place can be hard to locate as this shopping center is crammed with small little shops. But i’ll fight the cramped parking lot again for this tasty shaved ice treat.

The first time I visited Juice Box was back in the late high school years. Somehow, we shared one shaved ice between the three or four of us, which sounds pretty gross upon reflection. At the time, there was only one size(the large of today) and it cost just a reasonable $ 5. These days, one will run you $ 7, but I guess that isn’t too awful since it can be shared perfectly among two people. They have smaller sizes now too if you’re not in the mood for sharing. I always just order the mixed fruit shaved ice, which lets you pick up to five fruit toppings if you’re getting a large. All of it is then topped with a good deal of condensed milk and a very yummy scoop of ice cream. The fruit is always fresh since they have an extensive menu of juices and drinks too, which I have yet to try any of after at least ten visits here throughout the years. They also have premade combinations for shaved ice on the wall posters if you don’t want to build your own. During peak hours, expect max capacity inside Juice Box. It’s probably the most popular place for dessert in Chinatown, especially in the scorching Houston summer months. The place is located in one of the busiest plazas in Chinatown and has plenty of competition there alone(Nu Café, Star Snow Ice, Gelato Cup, Kung Fu Tea.), so be prepared to park pretty far during peak times. Lastly, there’s a credit card minimum, so bring some cash with you. There are countless places to get tapioca or shaved ice within the stretch of Chinatown, but I somehow always end up at Juice Box for dessert if I’m not at Star. This is a great place for kids, hangouts, dates, whatever.

I love this! This is better than ice cream! My mom thinks it’s healthier, but it’s really not. But it tastes so delicious and sweet. You get to choose your ice flavor, choose your fruit toppings, and other additional toppings if you want. Last time, I got the snowflake. My last combo: durian mango ice topped with mango, strawberry, and kiwi. I would definitely recommend that but without the strawberries because they are too sour for the sweetness of the dessert.

I’ve been here a few times with different folks. They have smoothies fresh juices and boba. I tend to gravitate towards the boba and smoothies. My friends really like the juice. The menu is rather freakin huge! Seriously, it makes other menus envious. I’ve always left satisfied. The facility is clean, And the people are nice. Definitely a good spot to get some refreshment in the desert of Houston.

So i came here because i heard this place was very similar to Nu’s café but also better… yeahh umhh i can see why some people might like it more but i like Nu’s café ice shave texture more. Nonetheless, this was very nice and friendly. The fruits are fresh and they have really tasty ice shave flavor as well. If you have never tried Juice Box before then i suggested that you give it a try =)

As we walked around Dun Huang Plaza in the midst of the Houston hot and humid weather, we decided to make a stop at one of the many cold dessert places this plaza has to offer. We decided to stop at Juice Box since it seemed pretty slow for an afternoon. Order: With a price tag of $ 7ea for a Mango & Strawberry & Watermelon Shaved Ice and a Mango & Watermelon & Kiwi Snowflake we were expecting a little bit more. Both orders were drowned with condensed milk and few pieces of fruit that made it less than satisfying. With the high competition in the area, we would expect a better presentation, more fruit to be enjoyed with the ice, and a moderate amount of condensed milk. The dessert had so much condensed milk that made it very overwhelming to taste any of the fruit. If we return, we will definitely have to try something else. — A.L.B.A

Heads uppppp THEYHAVETHEBESTFRUITSHAVEDICEINHOUSTON! The ice I guess is mixed with whole milk, topped with different kinds of fresh fruit that are mixed with condense milk and a scoop of ice cream. SOGOOD! It’s a perfect place to hang out or to get something fresh and sweet after a meal. Totally perfect for summer!

I absolutely love this place. I’ve never been one for deserts but this really tales the cake for me. There isn’t a place like this in New Orleans, the city I live in. I was in Houston last month in March for an Animé convention and we all went to Juice Box literally everyday we were there including one more time on the day we left. We became addicted. The item on the menu we ordered the most was the Thai Ice. It’s basically shaved ice, topped with condensed milk, your choice of an assortment of 3 – 5 fruits, and a scoop of ice cream of your choice! They offer other sweets but the Thai ice was what I kept ordering because it’s not available in my area. I can get boba tea, milk tea, mochi ice cream, and stuff like that at a handful of establishments in the area but to my knowledge the Thai shaved ice hasn’t made its way down to Nola. Here’s hoping they do!

This place was pretty pack the night we went, all the tables were taken but we were able to get one.(their wifi was realllly slow!) We ordered the mix fruit with vanilla IceCream, and a green tea strawberry only. The mix fruit were so good, the fruits were all perfectly ripe and tasted so sweet. Everything went well together. My favorite was their tea IceCream, it has a strong bitter taste to it which I really like. All of the fruit bowl menu on the wall is about $ 7 each. A good price for a large portion. They also sold black sesame soup dessert, I couldn’t get my hands on that because I had too much already. But next time I want to try that. I recommend coming here when you crave some shave ice and nu café is super pack. I think this place can beat nu café because it taste sweet but not over powering and more healthy because of the fruit.

This is one of the places we always go to for fruit tea after dinner! Their fruit tea is awesome, I’ve had at mutiple places but this is the best. I usually ask for strawberries, mango, and watermelon(instead of pineapples). The employees are nice and the service is pretty fast. The fruit tea is 5 bucks so not expensive. I will continue to come here unless something changes that disappoints me.

Please don’t get the tofu dessert here with the peanut topping. It isn’t smooth and after the initial hotness wore off the tofu was progressively sour tasting which is a sign of bad tofu. Their take is more of a taiwanese approach to usual«tofu fa». It is quite possible their shave ice is better or their juice drinks with boba. But so meh for me.

I’ve only tried two shaved ice places in Houston – Nu Café and Juice Box, but so far I’ve been rather disappointed with the quality. Juice Box calls for 7 dollars for a pretty generous mountain of snow and fruit, all topped with a scoop of ice cream. The one I tried was this fruit medley shindig, and it looked absolutely decadent. The ice was hidden by piles of fruit adorning the sides – mango, watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, and pineapple. A dollop of strawberry ice cream perched precariously on the top. Then to round off it all off, streams of condensed milk ran rivulets all over this snow mountain. So much yassss. However, I was greatly saddened to taste that the ice was very, very gritty and chunky, not that smooth, fluffy-like texture that I loved in Taiwan.(Please, let’s be honest though, no place compares to Taiwan’s shaved ice kingdom.) It was hard to mix the condensed milk and ice together to sweeten it up, so I relied heavily on the ice cream to blend with the ice. The ice and the fruit didn’t really complement each other like they’re supposed to. So despite the beautiful presentation, the actual dessert itself was not admirable due to the lackluster ice. Not a fan, unfortunately!

Over the years this place has offered consistent quality and taste. Walking in, the smell of fresh fruit will blast your senses. There is a display of the fruits they use: strawberries, mangoes,. And egg pudding(it’s like flan). When you sit down and wait for your order to be called, your forearms may or may not get momentarily stuck on the sticky table. Sometimes they are too busy and can’t get around to cleaning the tables as quickly as you’d like. Well, grab a napkin. I’ve been here countless times, and the only downside is the hike in prices. But you know what? I can’t complain if I can have my grubby paws on a cup of sweet mango smoothie topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream during ANYSEASON. And be satisfied! The shaved ice comes in a styrofoam bowl. There are lots of combinations to choose as toppings, but I like the ones with all fruit + condensed milk. I’m a huge fan of their hot desserts, too. Just in time for fall! Get on it.

Juice box will always be my go to for dessert on bellaire.:-) The fruit are always sweet and fresh, and overall seems like a light-dessert option after eating too much greasy Asian food:-) 5 stars:-) however I have noticed they’re not as busy as they used to be, alot of competition popping up.

A nice little spot to grab a frozen treat that’s a little different than the ordinary. I got the mixed fruit bowl with two scoops of ice-cream — coconut and strawberry. They were great together! What I love most about this place is the unusual mesh of flavors that end up going well together. From the finely shaven ice, to the creamy flavor of the condensed milk and the crisp texture of the fresh fruit. It’s a nice summer treat during these hot days. I’ll definitely be back to try another flavor — perhaps banana with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream. This place has a large menu full of a variety of flavors. The menu also consists of fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Overall, juice box is a nice little spot to drop by with family and friends.

I’ve been here a few times over the years and not much has changed. I only really come here if Nu Café is busy. There is a TON of offerings and their menu is arranged nicely. Everything is listed under the primary fruit in the drink or shaved ice. Came with friends and ordered smoothies and a Strawberry, Watermelon & Mango milk shaved ice. The fruits are all pretty fresh and plentiful on the ice. The strawberries were a bit sour but the watermelon was tasty. Clean for the most part and the good thing about juice box is that people don’t really come here and linger so table turn over is high.

Oh boy, I sure do love Taiwanese style shaved ice! When I found out about this little gem right near where my colleagues and I were having dinner, I told them it was a must! I typically like the traditional red bean topping, but opted for some fresh fruit instead. Mango, strawberries, condensed milk, and a scoop of coconut ice cream all nestled upon a bowl of finely shaved ice. YUM! I was slightly disappointed that they didn’t have toppings such as mochi or boba(tapioca balls), but I guess I’ll let that slide. A little steep on pricing(about $ 7 bucks if I recall correctly), but I guess you do get a ton of fresh fruit. YUM, wish this place would open in the heart of Dallas!
