my BF is from out of the state. Months ago we went to the UH one and he LOVED it. Today, we stopped by this location and ordered Togo since we had to go to the movies. he asked the girl for kimchi fries and she asked with beef? he said yes and also a blue baby. I parked and came in and he told me it was cheap. so after a few minute, they handed him only a drink. Genius girl didn’t put in his order for fries, no wonder why it was cheap. so I asked the girl if she had kimchi fries, she said yes with beef. so I ask for that and another blue baby. she told me it would take 10 minutes. TWENTY minutes later, we checked on our order and she handed us our fries. The fries were warm, not hot. SOGGY. SOGGYSOFTFRIES. The beef was cooked and NOT seasoned ATALL. While we were waiting, someones meal came out quick cause their friend worked there. someone else’s chicken nuggets came out in 5 minutes. If our disgusting kimchi fried rice took 20 minutes, I sure hope their chicken was cooked but hey, I love their blue baby. Be back for only drinks(probably UH only)

One of my guilty«pleasures.» And I use«pleasure» very loosely. I do so because I come here too often to really have enough credit to say that this place is at all bad. But here’s the deal, we can mostly agree that McDonald’s isn’t great tasting food, but we can also mostly agree(or maybe not) that we’ll find ourselves at our local Micky D’s drive thru shamelessly and perhaps even cowardly(me) ordering our«Oreo McFlurry» or «Quarter Pounder with Cheese.» Café 101 is a McDonald’s of sorts. Food(3⁄5). Eeeek. It really does irk me to give a rating higher than 2 for their food, but as I have said, I have no right to rate it any lower since I’d find myself here at least twice a month. Menu is long and huge both in length and size. I mean you could really do some damage to someone if he/she decided to charge you during your meal. It’s just way too long of a menu; it’d take a couple more generations of my family to try every dish. I’m a local-ish and so over the years I’ve had their general tso, Japanese fried chicken with BP sauce, fried oysters, s&p ribs, and a bunch of other stuff like hot pot and ma po tofu. Not going to list them all but generally the quality is the same across the board. Over the past couple of years, the food is stale and almost old-tasting; flavors aren’t complex at all(General tso’s sauce tastes like straight soy sauce and some Sambal chili paste). Their boba(not food I know) is good but a little overpriced considering there’s Kung Fu Tea and Share Tea and Tea Bar not even 20 seconds in proximity. Service(2⁄5). I’ve ranted for too long already, but in short, if you don’t order the first time your waitress is there, don’t expect to order until another 10 minutes. It’s like they go into hiding when they hear that you need some time to research their textbook of a menu. Servers are inattentive and lack menu knowledge; didn’t know what goes in which dish. I can’t blame them either when the menu is longer than the Letters to the Corinthians(Bible joke). Only a couple waitresses are decent. They’ve maintained the«skimpy» waitress look over the years. Overall, place is good on Sunday’s when every other legitimately good place is packed, which is the only time you’ll ever find me here.

Café 101 is filled with vast options to choose from. I hung out with one of my friends and we decided to dine here. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and sincerely sweet. She recommended to me the chicken nuggets dish and I’m glad I got it because it was really good. I also got this girly drink that was pink and had Sprite in it. I don’t really remember the name of it since I’m writing this review of a past experience from almost 2 years ago. But better now than never. Anyway, it came with whipped cream on the top which I hate whenever that happens. So I tried to scrap it off to the side of my tray onto a plate I was done with. Our waitress saw this and came over to ask me what was wrong so I told her my little situation. She then offer to do it for me which was really nice since I don’t really like to be a burden and make complaints or a scene and send stuff back. Overall, I enjoyed our experience here.

Café 101 has such a vast menu, there’s so many options to choose from! You have lots to choose from for different drinks, bubble tea, shaved ice, and their speciality drinks, sushi, noodles, hot pot, and chef specialties. I’ve tried the fried tofu, satay beef fried noodle w/water cress, shaggy dog, and kalbi ribs. The food is pretty descent and comes in good proportions. For the price, it’s pretty reasonable for what’s offered. I love the happy hour deals from 4p-7p and the reverse happy hour from 10p-2a. My favorite are the bubble tea options. I definitely come here more often for the bubble tea!

Tried this place a couple of times and find it weird that some people on here think the food is just okay because the pepper chicken from here is one of the best iv’e had anywhere. For me, I really haven’t found a Chinese/Asian place that I really like. I love that this place has a little lounge feeling to it. I like the music they place too! Only thing i could complain about is the girls that work here. Some have been okay but for the most part, they’re snobby and kinda rude. When i came here the first 2 times, they were nicer and not to mention better dressed. recently, most of these girls are wearing skimpy outfits and short skirts. But I guess they want to keep that lounge-y feel! Cool place!

Café 101 is a great place to go to if you want very affordable food pretty late at night with friends. I usually just stick with their reverse happy hour appetizer specials that are about $ 4.50 a plate. I usually go with the Chicken nuggets, Fried Tofu, and fries. Nothing too unique. It fills my tummy up. There’s usually some sort of sporting game going on the Big projector screen, but if you are there long enough. maybe past midnight. they will start to play Kpop videos. If that is something you fancy. They also play music in the background which can get pretty annoying if you are in conversation with friends. I think this place is too loud to bring a date, however. It gets fairly busy from 8pm — 11pm. so their might be a bit of a wait if you wanna go around these times. It’s not too bad at all though.

I always come here, it’s always a hit or miss with this place when it comes to service. Noticed they put up a 30.07 sign and also a 30.06 sign. 30.07 for open carry I understand, but 30.06 means the people with a clean background can not defend themselves. I will no longer support this place because you know criminals will bring their guns and still rob and shoot everyone. Plus at 10pm tonight on a Friday there was NOHPD officer, who’s going to keep this place safe? Until the 30.06 sign comes down, I will not be coming back.

The management changed a lot of the rules. Credit card minimum, even dine in minimums! The iced milk tea was over sweetened and I was only able to chose two toppings before being charged extra! Kim chi fried rice was too salty and baked mussels were decent but had to drain the butter/liquid! Not sure if I would come back.

Nice atmosphere. Good prices but they don’t let you bring outside drinks. Servers are friendly. A little quiet during daytime. It’s mostly a place for late night outings since it close really late. I like their honey ribs, oysters, fried seafood udon, and tofu. The honey ribs and oysters comes with rice and sides. Some of the side stuffs were these clear noodles and bits of pork. A little weird to me and didn’t taste that good. Would not recommend bringing a group to eat as it’s gets annoying trying to split the check and they only split the check for two. On top of that extra charges and tips.

I decided to give this place another try since my first experience was fairly decent. I called to place an order to-go. I ordered the Satay Beef Fried Noodles w/Water Celery. They ran out of water celery so replaced it with Chinese broccoli which was no big deal to me. I figured it shouldn’t take that long to make a drink, so I asked the girl on the phone if it would be better for me to place my order now or just place the order when I go in to pick up my food. She told me to place my drink order when I come in, so that is what I did. The girls working here are friendly enough, but the service is so slow. My food was ready by the time I arrived, but I waited about an extra 15 min just for my drink. I had ordered an Apple Milk Tea with Tapioca. The first time I came here, I ordered the same drink and just thought they had just given me regular milk tea… once again, I was disappointed. After waiting about an extra 15 min for my drink, it tasted absolutely nothing like apple. Not even a hint of apple flavor. They might as well scratch that option from the menu. I came back to the office, excited to finally eat and when I took a bite of the food, it was so bland. This dish hardly had any flavor to it at all. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed. I hate it when what you read in the menu turns out to be better than the actual taste of what you ordered. It was a big letdown and I don’t think I will be coming back to this restaurant. Also, the menu pricing that is listed on Unilocal is completely different than what their price actually is. I am not sure if what is posted on Unilocal is just outdated and Café 101 has since raised their prices, but it is a little more expensive than what you see on here.

This pace was good. Staff were honest about their foods and had good suggestions. I got the beef soup and it was pretty good. Not the best but I’d get it again. We also got the fried calamari and that was very delicious. The dipping sauce was fantastic. The menu was quite large and take up a lot of space. Overall, this pace was pretty good.

I got the beef noodle soup, which was HUGE. I was able to take half of it home. It was pretty good and I would order it here again :) I also like their Japanese curry squid! Definitely try the Heineken green tea if you want a drink! Pretty refreshing. Their yogurt sake is good too. Don’t get the mango mojito. It’s too sweet. Unless if that’s your thing.

Café 101 is popular amongst my friends and a nice place to catch up with friends. They have an extensive list of mostly Taiwanese based food, but since there are so many options, all the food seems average. Their milk tea tastes just like frothy milk, and their new kimchi fries has a base of potato wedges rather than the crispy oily fries that I like. But the bulgogi meat was good, as well as the Taiwanese chicken nuggets. The service is good too, and their waitresses are attentive to our water supply and kept checking up on us.

Definitely one of the more hipster places in Ctown, Café 101 is also one of the only establishments open when a college student decides to give up trying to work at 1am and wants to drown his sorrows in food. The bright lights and festive decorations will lighten any mood, and it’s definitely a good place to chill with friends. Sadly, service is definitely on the slower end, no matter how crowded it appears to be. Additionally, while the mango boba I had was creamy and sweet, the food(beef noodle soup and Taiwanese nuggets) was average at best. If you want a place with good ambience to hang with friends, this may be the place for you. If you want good late night food, not so much.

I ended up coming here way more than I thought I would during my last visit to the Lone Star State. Café 101 is the kind of place that is pretty empty from open until about 9 or 10 pm when all the late night denizens of Houston show up. They play horrible electronic club music and have super cheesy flashing lights all over the place. The waitresses are typically dressed in super tight clothing along with low cut shirts and push up bras. Think of it as an asian Hooter’s if you will. The only difference is that the food and milk tea concoctions here are top notch. As weird as the name ‘wheat germ milk tea’ sounds, it ended up being our favorite thing to drink there. We also loved the hot grass jelly drink, which is basically grass jelly heated up until it’s in liquid form. As it cools down, it turns into grass jelly. The last drink we kept on ordering was the Longan Date tea. As for food — they do a pretty great job with everything on the menu. We kept on ordering the Taiwanese Basil Chicken nuggets, Satay Beef noodles, Pork Chop, and various seafood dishes. One caveat though — the service here is pretty non-existent. There are about 30 – 35 tables here and only two waitresses. They don’t really try too hard to make sure your food is on time or to even come by your table. You pretty much have to flag them down by grabbing them and shaking them until they acknowledge your existence. Other than that, this place is great. :)

If it was not for my UYE, I wouldn’t even know about this place. I heard about Café 101 but having a hard time to finding it. I know I know I can see it from driving down Bellaire. But I kept missing the turn. Being here a few times, I do not recommend anyone park right out front. It’s an awkward way to exit as too many ways to get in and out of this congested parking lot with inpatient drivers who took shortcuts. Unless you are just stopping by to pick up something or someone. I love the colorful interior. It made the food taste better. Wait, I didn’t mean the food tasted bad. It’s just not to my liking. I am not a fan of weird shaped rice bowl and plates from the Flintstones era. They are distractions. As many reviewers already warned about«super long menu,» I studies it and digested before I could introduce Taiwanese food to my UYE guests. I grabbed a takeout menu and started to slash out the sections to ignore. Don’t worry about the drinks(entire back page), unless you are here to drink. The meaty parts are appetizers, rice dishes and noodle dishes. Now, we can concentrate on some of my childhood favorites: minced pork over rice, beef soup noodles, Taiwanese style rice noodles, Singapore rice noodles, Taiwanese pork chop with soup noodles. My recent visit really turned me off. I was craving for 炸豬排麵 Taiwanese pork chop noodle after work. I thought Monday night with a big crowd meant good for them, but bad for customers when they were shorthanded. It took them a long while before the waitress took the order and another 20 minutes for my food to arrive. To kill time, I was drafting a blog. When food arrived, I took a couple of pictures and went back to finishing my blog. The waitress came by and asked me if everything was okay. I thought, «eh? Now you’re paying attention to me because I was not eating.» The chop was seasoned right. The noodle and soup was perfectly done. But I didn’t care for a bowl of dark jello in dark sauce. Upon paying my tab, I noticed they deducted the tips automatically. I put a $ 20 bill in the holder and got back $ 9 for a $ 10.28 bill. For service like that, I didn’t bother to tip them more.

I’ve been here a few times previously. Never had a problem. I’ve enjoyed my experience more of less. This time, it’s a Sunday afternoon, on my lonesome, low capacity. 3 tables are occupied, that’s it. I asked for a spot near the tv to watch the game. I hate being on my cell because I’m bored when I’m out. I need something to occupy my attention, right? They sat me in the corner table near the window, as far as you can get from the tv. Dick move hostesses. Poo on you for that, even if the steelers throwback jerseys are crap. I was perusing the comments left by folks and decided on fried tofu and kimchi fried rice with pork. So I got my appetizer quickly by a smiling gal. My experience has improved, she got you back in 4 star range café 101. I’d give her creds but I don’t know her name since she isn’t my waiter(who is non-existent). Fried tofu was very good and quantity is really good. See my picture for the visual. Definitely recommend Same smiling gal brought the kimchi fried rice, and again quantity was great, also in a picture posted. The rice was a solid. Not anything over the top or to die for, but good. No complaints there at all. This particular customer service experience was lacking except for the food deliverer who is on-point. I like the interior décor and the music, but being seated in the outskirts of BFE greatly takes away from that. I might as well sit outside. But the food was good. Nothing amaze-balls, but a solid spot for good grub. I hear it gets crowded during the later hours when hooligans are rabble rousing, maybe they have better service then? Dunno. But give it a shot. Yay food!

I like meeting up with friends at this place. It’s clean, open, and has a modern and upbeat feel to it. The waitresses and waiters are all in their early 20s who know how to present themselves fashionably. They all speak good English, and most speak Chinese as well. Their drink menu is awesome and very inclusive of everything you might want in a Taiwanese café, and the size of drink is HUMONGOUS! I often get one of their lunch specials and a drink, and usually can’t finish either!
