Beer garden is great, get there early to get a table/seat. Love the atmosphere, always a good time! The restaurant is not our favorite place, maybe we just caught the kitchen on an off-day because everything we ordered was EXTREMELY salty. Even for me, and I love salt! We had the poutine, pizza, fish and chips, and all salt overload. My best friend loves the food and swears something must have been wrong when we went. Maybe the new kid in the kitchen lost control of the salt shaker… I’ll check it out again to make sure.

I guess Karbach beer just isn’t my favourite, Weekend Warrior is probably my most favoured but it’s not that mind blowing. The Beer Garden deal is very good if you like their basic selection of beer but for me it gets old because they are all pretty similar tasting. Last time I came here, I went inside instead of the Beer Garden as it was raining and there is very very limited covered seating. They could do with more covered seating and maybe a few Fire Pits? :) Sure, it’s not realistic during the Summer but very necessary for at least 3 months out of the year… Anyhooooo, the selection of beer inside is way way better! Sadly though, the Belgium Style Tripel I ordered was $ 7 a glass so not very economical when compared to the Beer Garden prices. It was, however, a much more interesting drink and I enjoyed it. The environment is far cooler inside than out, the Beer«Garden» is kind of sad and lackluster. String lights, plants and a few games would immensely improve this space and ambiance. The service inside was great, friendly and fast even though it was busy so that’s great! The food is hit or miss, I had Korean Chicken which was quite tasty and reasonably priced but the«Big» Pretzel I ordered was not fresh, very dry and ropey(as in as thin as my finger, pretty pathetic if you ask me), and frankly way overpriced. I’m definitely going to go back but I think there is room for improvement here :)

I hold the Karbach Rodeo Clown near and dear to my heart, and there is no better place to enjoy it than right here a Karbach Brewery! Come hang out with friends at the beer garden, or order some delicious food inside at the restaurant. Either way, Karbach has a laid back, have-your-beer-and-drink-it-too atmosphere that I love. If you are planning to eat at the restaurant, a few notes: 1) They do not accept beer tokens inside. But it’s a quick walk back out to the beer garden to refill your glass, so it’s no big deal. 2) They do not take same day reservations. THISISIMPORTANT, because otherwise the wait is sometimes ridiculous. 3) They have plenty of parking! Woohoooo!

This review is for Yoga & Hops, brewery tour, restaurant, and beer garden! Yoga & Hops(5 stars): Came to Karbach first at 11AM for some yoga and beer! It’s $ 20 for an hour of yoga and 3 beer tickets. Our yoga instructor was very friendly and flexible. However, you do need to know how to do yoga beforehand as the instructor goes very fast and says the pose name instead of showing it. Brewery Tour(5 stars): our tour guide was really fun and knowledgable. As a trained chemical engineer, I still felt engaged when he talked and learned about packaging and the history of Karbach itself. Restaurant(3 stars): decent for a brewery. we sat outside on a cold day to avoid the wait but it was bearable because of the heating towers. Loved the korean fried chicken. The brussel sprouts(coming from a brussel sprout lover) were cut up too much and too salty. the bonito flake flavor did not go well with it. The chorizo pizza was horrible because the meat did not taste good and the pizza was too oily! Beer Garden(5 stars): lots of seating so great way to spend an afternoon. There is also a food truck.

Team builder and general fun day with co-workers started with lunch at Karbach Brewery. This was my first visit to the establishment. It was easy enough to find, and there is a parking lot with ample spaces, at least for the day time lunch crowd(although I could see it getting pretty tight there in peak hours). I was greeted upon entering rather quickly and informed on the location of the rest of my party who had already arrived and began partaking in some brews. There is definitely a pub quality to the restaurant, and you can see the brewery area from inside. There is also a wall of merchandise inside where you can purchase Karbach branding items if you so choose. There are only beers here(duh it’s a brewery)…so if you’re looking for a full bar, this is not the place. The first beer I drank(ordered by a co-worker, but it wasn’t to his liking, so I benefited) was the Bourbon Barrel Hellfighter release #2 which was a dark, heavy brew with notes of chocolate and vanilla. It was insanely delicious. This is one you can only get in the restaurant, so I recommend a trip here if only to sample this beauty. We had a large group, so we were able to sample quite a few items: Charcuterie Plate — basically a fancy meat and cheese plate, with everything from salami, to brie, to deviled eggs. It was good, but not one of my favorite items, and I could have done without this.(I was actually surprised that a brewery would even have this). Korean Fried Chicken — was definitely one of the best things I tried. It was crispy, had a decent spice(although I could have used more, and I wouldn’t call it spicy). We all really enjoyed this one, and could have eaten a lot more. Weisse Versa Battered Fish & Chips — this was the entrée I ordered. It was crispy with hints of the Weisse Versa brew peaking through, not too greasy, and the portion size was perfect. The fries weren’t all that fantastic(a little burned) but they weren’t inedible. Around the table we had: 44 Farms Burger — the couple of people ordering this loved it Buttermilk Fried Chicken — another big hit, and I was told the truffled mushroom gravy was tasty. I definitely plan to return to this spot. The atmosphere was great, the location is good, and the food and beer are fantastic. I absolutely recommend you give Karbach’s a try.

Holy shlamoly! I’m not even a beer drinker, and I totally loved Karbach. Arrived for lunch at around 12:30 and was told it would be a 45 minute wait. Those who know me know that I have NO patience for a long wait like that for most places, but we had nothing to do that day and we figured we could go up to the bar and grab a beer. We put in our phone number which served to alert us by text message when our table was ready. Bar was crowded, so we ventured to the back biergarten. What an amazing space! Lots of picnic benches, a concert stage, more picnic benches, some food trucks. I felt like I was at a festival. To get beer in the biergarten, one must purchase a Karbach glass which contains drink tokens that correlate to the beers(some limited release are deemed«Specialty» and others are«Classic» etc.). The small ran $ 8 with 4 tokens and the large was $ 12 with 3 tokens. I opted for the small so I could try more things. The folks at the taps were friendly and happy to talk about the beers on offer. If you aren’t familiar with Karbach’s stuff, their beers are quite good! I was already familiar with the Rodeo Clown and the Hoppadillo, but I went for these anyway since they are so tasty. People were enjoying the food truck fare, but many had brought their own food: everything from bbq to pizza to Jack-in-the-Box. We got the text that our table was nearly ready, so we went back inside and were seated fairly promptly. Our server was really nice, quite knowledgeable about the menu and seemed genuinely excited about the food. The brussel sprouts were a HUGE hit. The house-pickled veggies were also delicious. My partner’s pizza was tasty and spicy, and my fish and chips were some of the best we have tasted in this town. The fish filet was gargantuan, and the fries were perfectly salted. Truly a wonderful experience. Word to the wise: make a reservation and go a bit early to enjoy the biergarten. While you can walk in, expect a huge wait. But what better way to wait than with a Rodeo Clown in hand in the biergarten?

I really enjoy Karbach and I don’t even drink! I’ve been here twice and over those two visits I’ve really enjoyed both the restaurant and beergarden. The restaurant: they do take limited reservations. They are relatively new at this, so calling may be the easiest way to get a reservation. The service is really good. Watching the waiters, they work as a team and it makes for a better overall experience. The food is good. The Korean fried chicken was spicy and delicious but not too spicy. The mac and cheese was pretty good. The fish and chips changes based on what fish they have available. The only thing we’d change is the extremely(very) salty fries. My husband loved the bread pudding. The beer garden: What a popular spot. I’ve been there both on a weekday evening and a weekend afternoon and both times it has been packed. There is a food truck, corn hole games, lots of tables, and it’s dog friendly. There are a few different options for getting a glass and beer tokens. All of the beer drinkers with me enjoyed many of the different beers. This place is a great combination of a fun space, good food, and good beer.

As someone that loves breweries, I was super excited to try Karbach. After all of the great reviews, I knew it was going to be great with outdoor seating and a full menu restaurant. Well, all of this is true if the weather is right. If the weather is not ideal, it definitely impacts your experience. Unfortunately, when we went, it was a complete downpour! We were lucky enough to find some covered seating, but if we wanted any more drinks, we had to run out in the rain and mud. We thought about using the rest of our tokens in the restaurant but quickly found out that you cant use tokens in the restaurant. Also, the line to get in is pretty long. Overall, I would go again if I was invited, but I probably wouldn’t go on my own again.

I am giving them 4 stars because even though the pizza crust was delicious the toppings were skimpy. but pulled pork pizza even though you have to search for the pork was delicious. burger is the way to go. Delicious fries are great. Brussel sprouts are great but a bit overwhelming. will be back it was a great experience. I had the weiss beer and hubby had the love shack both awesome.

This is one of the coolest breweries I have been to. Not only do you get all of their«experimental» batches which is awesome, but you also get a full restaurant in the building! Their kimchi was delicious and so was their pizza that I had! Will definitely be coming back to visit soon!

Mildly regretting grabbing brunch elsewhere before my visit here since the menu looks fantastic. Swung by this past Sunday for some afternoon beers. I made the mistake of visiting Houston on a particularly bleak weekend for weather, and it wasn’t until Sunday that I got any legitimate sun. Glad to have soaked it in at the Karbach Biergarten. They have a great running deal on pint glasses that come with redeemable tokens. Great spread of covered and open outdoor seating with some cornhole boards speckled around. The beer was great, and I see why Karbach’s growing so quickly for a younger brewery. The Hopadillo and Rodeo Clown were particularly great. The tour was great and gave us a glimpse of the kinds of specialty beers that Karbach has in the works to set it apart from other area brands. There was also a Brazilian food truck parked outside that I would’ve hit up if I hadn’t been so stuffed from earlier. I thought that the Biergarten was a fantastic way to spend a sunny afternoon, and I’d definitely recommend it to locals and visitors alike.

I don’t know how it’s taken me this long to get to Karbach! I’ve been back in Houston for 3 years now, and it’s my first time. I do have to say though, I’ve got to find my way back here some other time! Dropped by on a wednesday afternoon, and things were already getting pretty busy — I can’t imagine how things would be on a weekend! The biergarten is pretty cool — it’s got a great casual atmosphere to it, with a stage for live music, and a couple cornhole lanes. Tables galore as well. They’ve got a good selection of beers on tap at the biergarten, but not everything unfortunately. And when I went, they were periodically out of some of them, so I didn’t get to try everything I want. You can choose between a 9oz glass + 4 tokens for $ 8 or a 16oz glass + 3 tokens for $ 12 — and either way, you get one special token for one of their specialty beers. Even better, these tokens are completely reusable, so if you can’t finish, come again and bring it back! I highly recommend stopping by the restaurant and doing the tour as well. The restaurant was great — a better beer selection, and delicious food. Korean fried chicken is top notch — my personal recommendation for sure. Definitely a great place to pass an enjoyable afternoon in Houston if you’ve got the time!

Really love what’s going on at Karbach. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is . The 44 Farms Burger was delicious. Juicy goodness. Although, I ordered it to be cooked«medium» it came out well done but didn’t mind bc it was that good. With that said, my GF ordered the Beer Brined Chicken Breast and it was quite underwhelming. For the hefty price of 22 buck this entrée lacked it’s star component, the chicken breast. I would say it was half a half of a chicken beast even with the bone attached. The plate was overwhelmed by the amount of butternut squash-barley risotto. Had the Yule Shoot Your Eye Out. Really good tasting dark seasonal brew.

We came here with a group of friends that were visiting from out of town. We tried the restaurant, hung out at the outdoor patio and did the tour. Overall, it was a great experience. The restaurant was not your typical bar food, it was a full on restaurant with a good variety of dishes from pizzas, burgers, gnocchi and even fish and chips. We tried the pretzel, the gnocchi and and the 3 little pigs pizza. Everything was flavorful, fresh and nicely portioned. The meals were decently priced too. The restaurant in itself was a great experience. We then hung out at the patio, they had a food truck, a dj, some games, plenty of seating, it was a great way to spend a nice Saturday afternoon. Onto the tour, the tour is short maybe 20 mins at most, it comes with a glass and tokens for 3 beers, you can choose from the 9oz glass($ 8) or the 16oz glass($ 12). The tours run every hour from 1 – 7 on Saturdays and they fill up really fast, so get the ticket as soon as you get there. We got there around 2:40 and the earliest tour we could get was the 5 o’clock one. During the tour, you will see the processing station, packaging and bottling. It’s rather short but still entertaining.

The tour(especially in the middle of the scorching Texas summer heat) was not worth it. It was short, and uninteresting. It was not very in depth. The after party was legit. Lots of fresh beers, and good times to be had. The food was excellent from the food trucks, and everyone was nice. It was a on the hot side with only a few fans to keep everyone cool, but it made the beer that much more refreshing. You do not need to be a beer aficionado to have a good time at Karbach.

I haven’t been to Karbach in two years, but I was really pleasantly surprised to see how much they had grown. The beer garden has plenty of covered and uncovered seating, making a cool, rainy day perfectly acceptable outdoors. You buy a glass and receive beer tokens that you can redeem. After spending an hour in the beer garden, we ventured into the restaurant. Beer from the beer garden can be brought directly into the restaurant, which was great. No beer wasted. Though we made a reservation, they were able to easily accommodate our party of 8 regardless. The menu was very promising and I enjoyed all of the food, but there was one major caveat — everything was super salty. If the salt level had been reduced for every dish, it would have been a more enjoyable meal. What I tried: mac and cheese, brussel sprouts, kimchi fried chicken, shrimp and grits, and fish and chips. I would recommend any of those dishes. I especially thought the grits were cooked well. Service was very good. We were attended to by multiple people, which ensured we never had an empty drink glass.

Love this restaurant! I’m not a big beer fan but I wanted to head here with the hubby(beer drinker) on a Saturday afternoon. We checked out the restaurant and even though there was a 45 minute wait for a table, you had the option to sit in the bar area and eat. We still had a waitress take our order so it was great! Food: Crunchy chicken — so good and flavorful! Kale Caesar salad — impressed that the husband ordered this as I’m a bigger kale fan than him. It was good and he also enjoyed it so that says a lot. Has fontina cheese and grapefruit. 3 pigs pizza — has charterchuie, arugula, and mozzarella. Very good! 44 burger– everything is good about this burger! It’s huge but tasty. The Hawaiian bread is also delightful. Fries have the right crunch to them! Definitely fresh and not frozen! We were too full to get the dessert. Hubby has the wheat beer and he liked it. We tried the pumpkin beer and I thought it was disgusting but I am not a beer drinker! Lol. I had the lightest beer on the menu and I enjoyed it! So if you don’t like beer to much, you should order that one! Restaurant chef used to work st Benjy’s so definitely go get some food here!

I won’t write much since the 200+ other reviews already have this place covered… the beer is good, and the food was great. We started with the Housemade Pickle Pot, which is more«other» veggies than pickles, but it was good. Potent, but good! My entrée won me over. Chicken fried duck, you say? I can’t make that at home, so sign me up! Every bite was amazing, and the flavors were complex and perfectly paired. Duck + braised cabbage + chili jam = perfection. I usually can’t finish a restaurant sized entrée, but I made room for this one. I finished every bite and would have licked the plate if it were socially acceptable.

Went here with a group for restaurant week, and I was so happy with our selcetionl! $ 35 included the three-course meal plus beer pairings(each a 4-oz pour, with the exception of a couple dessert pairings, which were only 2-oz pours, which I believe was because they were stronger beers). Service was good and our waitress was knowledgeable about their selections and had great recommendations. Definitely a louder place but not impossible to have a conversation. There is also an outdoor seating area where the noise level might be quieter. We had: Appetizers: We tried all three on the HRW menu, and all were delicious — no clear front-runners here. If you are deciding between these three, go for what you are most craving — healthy, Asian, fried potatoes, a specific beer… — Kale Caesar Salad: yum — Korean Fried Wings: yum — Hopadillo Poutine: yum Main Course: Again, everyone loved what they ordered and no one had food envy. Would recommend either of these options. — Gulf Shrimp and Grits: delicious, very flavorful — Butcher’s Cut: one of the juiciest steaks I’ve had(other than something my husband would cook — he made me say that), ordered medium and cooked medium(yay)! Dessert: — Chocolate Ancho Chile-Stout Cake: This was my personal favorite, but hey, I like chocolate. I also really enjoyed the malted ice cream on the side. — BBH Tiramisu: Looked super fancy, tasted great. Really loved the beer that went alongside this one(topped only by the version with vanilla bean in it that we tried after dinner). — Docs Beer Milkshake: From the name of this dessert, I was expecting something like a beer float, which is why I didn’t order it. However, I was happy to sample someone else’s! I didn’t detect any beer in it. It was definitely a milkshake — somewhat chocolately and banana-y. After Dinner Drinks: If you treat yourself to another beer, I highly recommend the vanilla bean bourbon barrel porter ale, which we ordered at the recommendation of our waitress. It’s a dark, heavy beer, so I couldn’t finish it after our huge meal, but my dinner companions were happy to assist.

Stop what you are doing now and make plan to go to a HRW outing here! This is seriously one of the best choices you can make in this month-long culinary event for many reasons: excellent service, chill atmosphere, delicious food, and complementing beer samples. YES, that’s right. You get beer samples with your HRW courses! The best part is that the samples are chosen to complement with individual dishes. If you are planning to pay $ 35 for a multi-course meal, you may as well choose the one that includes beer sample. Anyway here are my choices: 1) Korean fried chicken: Although the saucy boneless chicken dish was a bit salty alone, it went with the chosen IPA well! This is a decent choice although I would go for the poutine if you want trashy or the kale salad if you want healthy. 2) Grilled butchers cut: Definitely the highlight of the whole meal! This steak cut was unexpectedly delicious, and the seasoning was absolutely perfect. The meat’s juiciness is insane just by cutting it. Heck, I nearly forgot to taste my beer because the meat was SOOO good! So glad I chose this over a steakhouse which I highly doubt has a beer sample to come with it. 3) Beer tiramisu: Unlike the KFC appetizer, the taste was rather mild but like the KFC appetizer, it goes really well with the beer sample! Sadly, I thought this was lackluster finish especially coming after the flavorful butchers cut. I stole a sip of my friend’s shake and I would definitely recommend you choosing that! The restaurant is really packed but despite that, our waitress was friendly and attentive to our needs! I would highly recommend sitting in the outdoor patio if you want a conversation because the inside is really loud. No matter if you sit inside or outside though, you will definitely have a great time in Karbach whether you are here for HRW or not. — tl;dr version: 1) Unbeatable HRW experience with beer sample! 2) Excellent and laid-back service and atmosphere 3) Great place to hang out
