Saw bad reviews on this place but decided to go in anyways. I can say that this place is pretty good for indian groceries. You can’t expect them to be like HEB or whole food when it comes to looks, but they carry lots of indian vegetables and supplies as good as few stares that are in Oak tree in NJ.

Three stars are for their produce section. The veggies are good. Daals are not good in taste n I don’t understand why they don’t keep Swad. Pani puris I got was not expired but it had wired smell.

Beware of this place and be sure to check the expiry date of packaged goods before you buy. Not only do they sell expired stuff, they erase/modify the printed Expiry Date. When I showed this to the store manager, I was told it is the distributer’s fault for sending expired goods! You don’t want to buy food from a guy who thinks he is not responsible for selling expired goods. I’ll not be going back ever again.

Never thought my first review would be for a grocery store! But here I am, trying to defend my GO-TO place for my Indian grocery shopping: P :) Yes, I was compelled to write this review after reading the overly harsh comments written before me, but No, my opinions are no way swayed by them. So here it is, After having tried all the Indian stores in the Hillcroft area, I’ve zeroed in on this place simply because they have the widest collection when it comes to groceries or spices or any other Indian household purchases.(for instance, they carried fresh methi(fenugreek) while no other store had it, and during Diwali, they had the widest variety of rangoli colors). And they definitely are reasonably priced. I am not sure about the past, but currently this store is more popular than you would imagine and therefore their turnover is good, resulting in fresh produce every time we go there. Plus, every week I see many new(and good) products being introduced here than other similar outlets in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful and my experience so far says, I am happy with this place! Update(June 2013): We’ve recently discovered a new Indian grocery store which opened recently, so we no longer frequent Keemat. But my best to the Keemat team.

You have to pick and choose where to buy Indian style foods and ingredients and this is one of the places I go for my spices. They have a huge selection of top quality spices that are about a fifth the price of the overpriced, smelly dust sold in Penzey’s and the like. I can actually get whole seed spices sold here to germinate. It is a bit rough around the edges, but no worse than most places in New Orleans or New York.

Extremely dirty and waste of time, when it comes to collection of grocery items one is looking for. In addition, low quality produce ensures you’re getting only the pickins that even cattle would reject. stay away and take your money elsewhere.
