Horrid place with ridiculous prices. Got my hair cut here a few times, and the last straw was when Jenny didn’t even come close to covering up my roots(um, that’s what highlights are for, right??). I went back to the State I used to live in, got my hair cut and colored by the people I always used there, and my colorist’s first comment was, «Oh. My. God. She bleached your hair!» Pretty ineffectually, too, it would seem from the still obvious roots. The stylist who cuts my hair said it didn’t even look right, that it appeared she cut my hair presuming my part to be on the right(it’s on the left, which I told her every time I saw her, and a good stylist doesn’t cut for a part, he or she cuts the hair EVENLY). What can I say other than don’t go here, but if you insist on going, avoid Jenny at all costs!!!

First– I have been with Chen for almost 11 years and would follow her wherever she goes! Her color is awesome, looks natural and her cuts are precision perfect. Kharisma is a great salon! The reservation staff is on point and the entire salon staff is fantastic. The location is great, parking is easy and you walk out looking better than when you walked in… every time. The only thing that will be disappointing is if this great review prevents me from getting the appointment I need because Chen is so awesome. She’s family — but better because I always look forward to seeing her.

No longer go to this salon! New owners took over and my colorist Laura Holmes moved to Azur West in the West Ave. location. 3 stars just because I no longer go there and have no idea as to the new management style/prices

My second visit with Sarah Salinas. She is a young trendy professional. Both of my visits she accommodated and catered my «hair color views». The salon is super clean! With very welcoming receptionists.

I tried Kharisma for the first time a couple of years ago on the advice of a friend, and at the time was relatively unimpressed. I paid for a cut/style/partial highlights and a scalp treatment, and they skipped the scalp treatment because the professional who performed that service was unavailable that day… even though it was included in the charge for my appointment. They said that I could apply it to my next visit. Well, that never happened. On my return visit, they seemed to have lost those records and would not honor that promise. So, I walked out. Now, fast forward to the present. One would think that after my previous experiences with Kharisma that I would never have set foot in their salon again. However I decided to give them another change when I purchased a Groupon for $ 50 for a cut/style and highlights package. Unfortunately, I managed to let my Groupon expire. BUT… according to Groupon, the face value of the amount paid never expires and can be applied toward your next purchase. However, when I tried to make a new appointment and apply the $ 50 toward the total experience, I was told by the manager of Kharisma that they do not honor or respect the Groupon guarantee. TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE!!! With so many high-end salons in Houston such as Azur, Azur West, Ceron and others, there is absolutely no reason to waste your time or money at Kharisma.

I have been a customer of Kharisma for 8 years now and love the service. Laura has been my colorist for the majority of those years and consistently delivers. I often bring in pictures to show her of desired highlights and instead of completely copying the pictured highlights, she adapts my vision with what looks best with my skin tone. It’s comforting to have a stylist who understands my language and style! Although Kharisma may seem to be pricey, it is less pricey than other up-scale Houston salons, while always offering quality services. Customers of all genders and ages are seen at Kharisma. The ambiance is more mellow and low-key than other high-end hair salons.

I got my hair cut by Roi a couple of weeks ago. I have curly hair that is a few inches past my shoulder, which I usually let air dry or use a diffuser. I had heard he knows how to cut curly hair. The haircut went okay, up until near the end when he ran scissors vertically through my hair, like when you run scissors across a gift wrap ribbon to make it curl. I expressed apprehension at this, not wanting something that would thin my hair, and he said it would«release the curl». I do have to give him credit for fixing my hair curly; he didn’t try automatically to straighten it like most stylists do. But he put SO much product(mousse, etc.) in my hair that I didn’t notice the problem this technique caused until the next day when I fixed my own hair. Running the scissors through my hair left me with little hairs sticking out at all different lengths. My hair looks damaged and frizzier than ever!!! It did not look like this before the cut. I am so disappointed by the appearance of frizz in my hair now. My hair is so damaged now, and it is going to take FOREVER to grow out, since my hair is so long.

I used to go to this salon. It is always crowded, noisy, and rushed. I became very disappointed earlier this year when I received the worst haircut of my life. I had to go to someone new because my normal hair stylist was out. He did not listen at all to what I wanted and by the time I realized how much damage he had done, it was too late. Too expensive for the hassle. Used to be a lot better.

I followed Travis from SoK to Kharisma because I can’t allow anyone else to cut my hair. Travis is so sweet and always trims my dark, long wavy hair just right. After years of styling my hair the same way we decided to change it up and he gave me some bangs. WOW is all I have to say. I can’t believe how many compliments I have received on my new haircut. If you need a new stylist I highly recommend Travis P. He is such a sweetheart and will make you feel and look amazing!!!

I too followed Andrew from SoK. The salon itself is really cute, warm and friendly. And of course, Andrew is wonderful. He always manages to make my difficult, fine hair look gorgeous. Andrew usually has great suggestions. Last time I went in, I told him I wanted to cut my below shoulder length hair short. He reminded me of all the good things about long hair and how long it took me to get it this way — he suggested just taking some weight off the bottom by putting in some layers. It looks fantastic — and he was right. I was glad the next day that I hadn’t chopped off my hair.

Lilliana did my balayage and Travis my cut. I have to tell you I love both so much! My blonde has never looked better and Travis cut it perfectly to accentuate my face shape. Bangs not too short and swoop perfectly! Go see them! You will not be disappointed!

Having traveled quite a bit and needing to get my hair cut in different parts of the country, I think I can fairly say that Kharisma is a low end cuttery trying to be a high end salon. And fails miserably. The salon was messy and over crowded. granted they looked like they were going through renovations, but that is no excuse to provide bad customer service and even worse products to be used on your clients. The salon sells BB products in the lobby, but uses some cheap convenient store crap to wash your hair and style your do afterwards. My hair dresser was grumpy from the minute she came out to the lobby to receive me right until the minute I left. We barely exchanged more than a few sentences in conversation besides me having to tell her what I wanted(not her asking what I was in there to do today?) Im new in town, and told her as soon as we started so she knew that I was dealing with very different climatic conditions, but she did little to continue the conversation or offer solutions or products on how to tame my locks. which could have a major selling point. Upon checkout I mentioned the $ 25 discount that Unilocal says to inform the salon of in case its your first time going there, but they completely refuted the offer. I was charged $ 95 for the cut instead of the $ 85 they have listed on their own website, and $ 20 in tip instead of the $ 10 that I told her to add to my card(because of the poor service. im not normally a bad tipper). It would have been more hassle for me to try and get my $ 10 refunded to my credit card than it was worth so I left. But needless to say I will not be returning to this place. So a $ 120 later I walked out with a rather mediocre haircut and an unpleasant service experience.

Lindsey for cut. Laura for color. It is a pricey haircut and color but totally worth it.

You can’t go wrong. Loris is a true artist when it comes to hair and she’s a gem of a person. Yes, the place will cost you $$$, but you will not be disappointed.
