If you are serious about your kitchen, this is one of the places to go. There are lots of things in the showroom that I would never dream of having in my kitchen, like relief tile backing to cooking areas, but the overall standard of the almost industrial quality appliances, is the real deal. I was fortunate enough to have a contractor invite me to one of their equipment demos that includes wine and a three course meal in their display and demonstration kitchen. Executive chef Garth Blackburn was the demonstration leader, with some very competent kitchen elves backing him up. The menu was: Cider-braised Pork Shoulder, on Shredded Vegetable Salad with Ginger Mango Dressing. The pork could have used a post steaming, crisping and the ginger/mango lacked any particular zing, but the overall dish was quite tasty. Lemon-Maple Prosciutto Shrimp and Scallops in a Blood Orange Beurre Blanc A difficult task getting all the shrimp and scallops out at once, but the shrimp was wrapped in ham, so it was really tolerant of the slight overcooking. The scallops were on the salty side for me, and tasted like something from the other side of the Pacific, but the sear was beautiful and the the sauce did not overwhelm any of the flavours. Almond Cookie Sandwich. This was the part of the meal that had the secret nasty ingredients, like girl scout cookies and chocolate with HFCS in it, but it was really good. If you are interested in upgrading your cooking equipment and have the extra dollars to do it the right way, sign up for one of these demonstrations and learn why induction is better than gas and why everyone should have a worktop steamer, you will certainly improve our kitchen experience.
