i know exactly why this place closed just based on experience alone. food isn’t bad at all and they had some great selections in the beginning. huge crawfish and unlimited steak prepared your way fresh from the grill. problem is some of the staff there are shady and others had severe attitude. 3 incidents with separate employees. the tiny latin guy who grills the steaks doesn’t like you wasting his time going up over and over again for meat. he wants you to go up ONLYONCE and just order how many pieces total. He doesn’t want you to just order 1 piece at a time because he’ll be cooking for you all night. I find this out the hard way when he gave me attitude as I ordered my second steak. rolling his eyes, shaking his head and went tsk! I didn’t know at first what the problem was until he started asking me how many pieces of steak on my future visits. when he finished cooking my steak one time, I asked if he could cut it in half for me to see in the middle if it’s well done. He went, «aahh whatever!» and tossed it on my plate. too many people around for me to ask him if he wanted to step outside. Once the hostess yelled at my mom. The hostess asked, «how many people?» I guess my mom wasn’t loud enough for her so she went, «HOWMANYPEOPLE??? I of course later got the manager and told him to make her apologize. She did so I ignored it. Here’s where one of the original managers pulled a fast one on me. It’s the older Asian man who’s short and has on the glasses. went in on a busy weekend and he asked me, «how many?» I replied, «only one.» He looked around and I saw his eyes going back and forth like he was scheming something. He goes, «only one? uuuuh… we have… uuuh…party tonight. soooo… uhh…it close for public.» I looked inside and there’s was no party except the usual crowd. turns out he only wanted large groups for his tables only because it was getting packed. if he just seated only me, he would be losing money on his last few tables. I called him out on that so he reluctantly gave me a table at the end. too much drama and attitude so makes perfect sense why this place tanked.

This location is now CLOSED. When it was open the food quality and selection was the standard of Chinese buffet restaurants. About 1⁄3 was Mexican food. Not sure why it closed but in the last 6 months there were few customers even during lunch.

Every holiday or special occasion, my family always wants to go to a buffet. We’ve visited this buffet a few times because my uncles live nearby and absolutely love this place. This place isn’t great or terrible. It’s a typical Chinese buffet. Prices are decent for what you get. My family has complained a bit about the food, but I think you have to be a smart customer and take a serious look at your food to see if they just put it out or if it’s been sitting there for a while. I like that they have sushi and some dim sum. I feel like sushi is so risky to eat at a buffet, but it’s decent for a buffet. It reminds me of the sushi I grab at Kroger. The people who work here aren’t super friendly, but I honestly don’t expect much service from Asian restaurants. They are attentive and easy to flag down though. There are certainly better Chinese buffets in Houston.

Only giving the extra star for the sweet waitress I had. There was bugs buzzing in and around the raw meat they had put on the buffet line. The other food was old and dried out/crusty when I went Thursday night. Nothing looked appetizing. It was so gross. I couldn’t even eat half the stuff.

It’s not bad, but some of the food tends to taste bland or really salty. The price is very reasonable for lunch on the week days. Maybe service was non-existent since it took a while for the dirty dishes to be picked up. Their marinated(?) Chicken is probably from Viet Hoa. They’re basically next door neighbors. But that chicken was good. Moist and juicy. Yum! Would I come back? Definitely!

Typical Chinese buffet place in the SW area. Nice and friendly staff. They have tons of choices to choose from and the prices are very fair. It a fairly big place and it’s clean. Yes, we will be back, this is my third time.

It’s ok. Nothing to write home about. Not many vegetarian options for my dad. I did highly enjoy hot and sour soup with rice noodles and bean sprouts(made my own phở style). Sushi, Mongolian grill and traditional Chinese dishes served here. I eat meat and so I had plenty to eat.

Honestly its not that bad for the money. There’s alot of variety, and if you can overlook the suspect characters that eat there, it’s definitely doable.

Went on Thursday 12÷12÷12 about 4:30pm which was considered dinner time since we were charged $ 24.95 for 2 ppl + 2 ice teas. Food was good except the Sushi was very disappointing. There wasn’t much variety of it. And what few sushi choices were there were covered with Saran Wrap as if they were made earlier and no one cared for them. There was no sushi chef on hand behind the counter like at Lucky Village. Which by the way Lucky Village is cheaper and have more choices in sushi. But kingsway buffet do have way better food as far as the buffet and seafood goes. You can’t beat the price for as much peppered shrimp, fried calamari and crab you can eat. I guess if you want a good chinese food buffet and not sushi go to this place. 3 stars just for the seafood. None for sushi — very disappointing. Smh

I’ve never been a fan of buffets. I just feel like the food is always old and has been sitting out. This buffet was no different. The same«Chinese» foods are out in abundance. Rows and rows of food sitting under heat lamps. Most items are deep fried and mushy to the touch. I doubt I will return to the Kingsway buffet… and I believe I am ok with that.

You would think there would be more interesting selections being near the Asian supermarket. Now don’t get me wrong it isn’t «bad» just standard Chinese buffet. Pretty large selection. Decent service and price. Just not spectacular.

Just bc it’s next to Viet Hoa and in Bellaire doesn’t mean it’s good. I tried a variety of things and only enjoyed a few. Good: dumplings — definitely made in house, spicy chicken, roasted chicken I tried: lo mein, singapore noodles, chicken wings, beef stew, fried rice, banh xio, vegetarian egg roll — most of these were bland or too oily And they did not have sriracha. That was my deal breaker. Overall, I would not go back. The food looked like it’s not consistently refreshed. So no bueno. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it was 10.95 each — way too much

Just okay. You get what you pay for. Lunch at $ 6.95 could really fill you up. I haven’t tried any other time, but just lunch during weekday. They have enough variety to fit for a King. You’ll find Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Mexican and local flavors. They got the best Vietnamese beef stew. I’ve learned not to ask the line cooks any questions, because they speak only Spanish. Also, I had a hard time to communicate with the person who answered the phone. So, it’s better just read these reviews and go find out for yourself. I’ve never seen them change hours of operation since I lived here. The atmosphere is pretty good. I love the picturesque window seats when you can dine and watch the traffic going by. Their private rooms are very generously decorated with Asian arts. Compared to most All-You-can-Eat buffets, Kingsway Buffet beats the competitors’ comfort and value.

I came here for lunch around 11:30. At $ 6.95 for the weekday lunch price, it’s a really great deal. The main stations include a sushi bar, salad bar and cold dishes, fried foods, stir fried/sauté, veggies, soups, desserts, and miscellaneous. I arrived a little after eleven so the food was still fairly fresh. I always skip the salad bar, but it looked well stock with lots of variety. The fried food selection is abundant including some tasty fried chicken wings and crab wontons that have actual bits and pieces of goodness besides just cream cheese. The stir fried and sauteed dishes were hot and flavorful with nice bite-sized pieces. I did notice a bit of gristle though in some of the dishes, and the quality of the beef wasn’t the best, but again… for seven dollars, I can’t expect that much. There was six varieties of soup, an ice cream dispenser, fruit that didn’t look too ripe, and curry that had great flavor but was too runny. I did devour quite a bit of the steamed shumai. I love shumai! Theirs was okay. Skewered chicken was flavorful dark meat and one of my favorites. Tried some of the farm raised baked salmon, but it wasn’t very good… barely even pink. I did notice there was more vegetable dishes available than most Chinese buffets which was a huge bonus! I need the fiber after all that meat intake. The quarters of bok choy were well prepared and delicious with that nice crispness. The desserts were disappointing and limited. Don’t even bother with them, except maybe the kitchen-made flan and the fried bean paste filled sesame rice balls or maybe some ice cream. I always get my hopes up when I see a sushi bar at a buffet, but 95% of the time it ends in disappointment. This was definitely the case here. While I appreciate the fact that they have unagi, everything else kinda sucked. One roll in particular has a nice red piece of raw tuna on top. It looked delicious, but when I tried to chew it, it was like trying to chew through rubber! I ended up spitting it out onto a napkin. Tried another piece later with less«stripes» and it was more chewable, but still not appetizing. I have never had to spit out a piece of sushi like that because I couldn’t chew it. How disappointing. The sushi didn’t taste very fresh, but that is not surprising as it sits out on the offering display for awhile before being picked up. If you’re not a fan of cream cheese or imitation crab meat, then too bad. That’s the main component of the sushi selection. Luckily for them I love cream cheese. The dining room tables did seem a bit close as someone else had mentioned. Trying to avoid eye contact with the people across from me was a fun little game. I did walk by a private room that looks like it can be reserved for different functions. Despite the shortcomings, I do plan on returning for lunch when I feel glutinous and want to pig out on shumai, bok choy, and unagi. Let’s face it. Houston lacks many good Chinese food buffets, and this is actually one of the better ones I have found for a good price. Also, the fact that is after several rounds, my plate rarely had leftovers except for sushi and the cream puffs. That’s rather impressive, and confirms for me that most of their food is passable! Although I know this is something they can’t control, there are a lot of loud, ill-mannered people that come here with little class and little regard to their noise levels.

I think my friend best described this place when she called it «hood.» I honestly felt overdressed in my windbreaker and jeans. On to the food. Nothing special here. All the normal American Chinese buffet items. Lo Mein was quite good and may be the best thing there. I was asked if I would go back. I answered no. But said this. If I was stuck in a small city and the choices were McDonald’s, Subway and Kingsway Buffet, I would pick Kingsways. It isn’t terrible but not good enough to get me to come back. It is pretty cheap at $ 6.99.

I usually don’t come to buffets, however, since the place I was trying to go to was closed(The Boiling Crab), my brother suggested we eat here instead. It’s located in the same shopping center, just opposite of The Boiling Crab, and seemed to be a fairly new place with a decent amount of activity. There was a sign outside the door that read, «Grill. Wok. Sushi,» so I figured it was better than nothing. Upon first entering, we were greeted by the hostess and were immediately asked how many people would be eating and were seated soon after. Like any buffet, we placed our drink order and proceeded to scope out the delicacies. They offered what you would normally find at a Chinese buffet. They had rice, noodles, soups, and chickens. They also had American specialties such as pizza, corn, fried chicken, and other similar things. They had a decent sushi bar but I like to stay away from sushi while I’m at a buffet so I wasn’t able to try it. The food itself wasn’t too bad but I thought it was a little below average. While the bins were constantly being refilled, I thought the food was a little dry and, overall, a bit bland. I did enjoy eating the Lo Mein but that was about it. Everything else was edible but nothing I would care to have again. One thing the place had going for it was that everything appeared to be clean so it makes you feel a little safer than some other buffets I’ve been to. Another thing, our waiter was very punctual and was keeping our drinks filled and made sure everything was okay. The service here was better than some other places which is a plus in my book. Overall, while mostly everything was in good standing, the food was lacking and that’s a big minus for me. The price was cheaper than what I’m used to at a buffet but sometimes, you just get what you pay for. I wouldn’t come here again but as I said, I’m not really a buffet fan.
