I feel my rating is a bit unfair. I’m just reviewing the Wednesday I went. It was about 3 in the afternoon. They only sold a few items and we had to ask them to microwave them so we could snack there. They tasted as if they were not made that day. The guy there did say to come back on the weekend. Their custard bun was tasty. Wasn’t crazy about the BBQ bun. I’ve definitely had better. The place is super small. If they get a crowd on the weekends, I’m wondering if a line gathers outside.

I only got the shrimp dumpling. The cost was $ 2.89 so it’s super affordable for dim sum. Not a lot of variety though for the time I arrived(1:15) around lunch time. It was cold, not even room temperature, and the noodle just fell off when I grabbed it with the chopsticks.

I was craving for some quick dim sum one day and got a chance to check out this to– go spot. It is conveniently located next to Viet Hoa, so it’s perfect to pick up after some grocery shopping. Looks like they recently renovated the place so it’s fresh and clean. I only ordered the banh cuon with shrimp and it was great. I look forward to coming back and trying out more!

Good food, quick and cheap. I love the shrimp dumplings, fried shrimp balls and shiomai

We rarely have opportunities for dim sum anymore due to church, so when I saw this place after shopping at Viet Hoa, I decided to give it a chance. I ordered, the xiu mai, pork ribs, fried sesame balls, and that fried fuzzy looking thing with taro and pork inside(I never know the name)… Yeah, definitely not that desperate for dim sum.

This place has the best dim sum I’ve ever eaten. I like dim sum and this place has to be one of my top places to eat it at. I will come back again the next time I’m in that area. I would go to it daily but I live so far :(

If you are craving for some delicious dim sum at any random hour, this place is the way to go. The food is good and is ready pretty quick. The shrimp dumplings are yummmmyy. Wish I could get some right now.

I was in the Bellaire area today running errands and craving for some dim sum, but it would be awkward to go to a sit-down restaurant and eat by myself. I heard of this place from my friend, so I decided to check it out. Having dim sum to go was very convenient and good for a college student like me who was constantly on the go! The selection of food was great! I don’t remember the name of everything i got, but i do know i got Xiu Mai, and it was AWESOME! Just as good as the other dim sum restaurants, if not better! Perfect place to grab food for a little picnic at the park if you don’t want to the typical sandwish, chips, etc. CHECKITOUT! :D

Let me first say that the sweet white rice cakes that Dim Sum to Go makes are some of the BEST around — this includes comparisons to S.F. and NYC. My mom, who grew up in NYC, has proclaimed this many times while enjoying a few bites of this great dessert. Since I’ve always purchased this dessert from the Golden Foods grocery store, I decided that maybe it was time to hunt down the maker of this yumminess. It’s one of those things that lands on the list of things-to-do-some-day. Well, today was the day. It took a little extra effort since I had the baby with me, it was a hotter-than-usual Houston summer day, and the proximity to the Viet Hoa grocery store meant that all of the close parking spaces were taken. However, I was sure there would be a big pay-off. Upon entering the store I was a little surprised that there were so few offerings in the case, but had little problem choosing an assortment of Dim Sum. I chose 2 types of shrimp dumplings, xiu mai, glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf, and a steamed bun w/chicken filling. The shrimp dumplings seemed as though they had been frozen; the shrimp itself was mealy and bland. The xiu mai had more flavor, but it was mostly about being salty. The glutinous rice had a mish-mash of meat and a single(small) slice of mushroom. So disappointing! Maybe it was an off day. Or maybe going there on a Monday was a mistake — although they’re open 7 days/week, so I thought it would be okay. Anyhow, I’m not going to waste my time or get my hopes up trying this place again. However, I WILL still buy their sweet rice cakes from Golden Foods grocery store. But, for Dim Sum I’m going to Chinese Cuisine. Really good Dim Sum, no carts, but great food!

Dim Sum To Go is perfect when you are craving for something specific from the dim sum menu… Like me, im always craving for congee from dim sum, I know i can goto this place and get what I want fast and fresh! Just pick what you want and Take it to go :)…instead of going and sitting and waiting for the cart to come around you. the owner and workers there are super nice and it’s convenient if you just finished shopping at Viet Hoa and wanted something to go… Highly recommended!!!

If you think dim sum is only good if being delivered on push carts by Asian ladies at Chinese restaurants at only certain hours in the day, then you are seriously missing out. How about being able to eat good quality dim sum any time of day? You’re wiping saliva off your face as we speak aren’t you? I know I am! Well Dim Sum To Go is all about offering good quality dim sum 8 hours a day, 7 days a week! I love this place and have been coming here since they opened many years ago. As a college student too lazy to cook, I would stop by this place before leaving for Austin and stock up on dim sum. The quality of the food is comparable to those found at restaurants and often times the prices are even better. Each type of dim sum is packaged nicely and the store is clean and tidy. The owners, although are more quiet, are very sweet and accommodating to their customers. It’s a family business and they take pride in the quality of their product. Some of the dishes do have to be cooked after order but it’s quick and tasteful. Now some may be put off by the location, being located right smack in the middle of the ‘lief(Alief), but it’s actually quite safe. Everyone in this shopping complex are just there to buy cheap food. Nothing scary about that. I love this place and will always come back. And who wouldn’t want to support a family business who tries to stay true to what matters most: good quality food. :)

We saw this place when we went to Viet Hoa and thought what a good idea! A bakery style Dim Sum. We were so hungry and we were salivating at the delicious looking Dim Sums. My wife and I started to think, we’ll have one of everything. There was nobody there on a 2 o’clock afternoon and the lady that was running the place was having her lunch, too. Some more customers entered the place and the lady finished her lunch and got up. The new customers started to ask her questions in Vietnamese and started serving them. This made me so mad that I didnt even want to say anything and just told my wife let’s go somewhere else. I didnt want to start complaining because I might not be able to control myself(as hungry as I was). Come to think of it when the lady finished with her lunch, she didnt even wash her hands before she started to put the other customers order together. Maybe, we got saved from diarrhea, worse hepatitis!

If you love dim sum, but don’t like waking up past noon, then this is the place for you! *cheers all around* My mom first told me about this place and I thought she was kidding — more or less because I had no idea what she was talking about. Man, oh, man is this place great. Every four to five months that I travel back to Houston and I always either swing by here or have my mom get me something from here. The food is great, especially for being packaged and all. It’s like fast-food dim sum and that my friends, sounds pretty ingenious to me. Clever clever! The folks here have always been pretty friendly as well, always happy to cook up a new batch of whatever I have just ordered out of. Unlike other dim sum fanatics, I just point and order the items. No idea what the names are on any of these things. It’s all good; I can point then eat.

This is the Dim Sum store that Anthony H should have found. It’s all in the name: Dim Sum To Go. Located in a clean, quaint little shop next to the relatively new Viet Hoa grocery store at the Beltway and Beechnut, this is the place to find excellent fresh Dim Sum to take home or on a picnic. Nothing scary or seedy about this mall. Get your tasty Xiu Mai(pork dumpling) or Chan Ga Tau Xi(Chicken Feet) fix on. You may have to wait for deep-fried Dim sum like Sesame Balls or Taro Dumplings because they cook those to order. All the stuff you expect to see on a cart on Sunday is here(but there might be a couple you have to special order). There happen to be two tables(count them — two) if you really can’t wait to get back to your car. This is the perfect place for a guy with three girls under ten who’ll scarf down 6 orders of pork xiu mai in one sitting. And dare I say it – they’re open seven days a week(9am to 7:30pm).
