This restaurant was right across Korea house. Not wanting to eat too much, I decided to give it a try. Love: side dishes. Yes, that’s right. I have been to many Korean restaurants but this has best sides. Potato salad, radish, soup … were gone by the time we finished. Don’t love: the BBQ. We selected combo 1(beef combo). The seasoning was average. You can actually do it at home. The portion was relatively small. You can eat real slow and enjoy the food. However, for the bang of the buck, Korea house is still better. Staff was friendly but some didn’t speak English. I will probably go back to Korea house.

This is our favorite korean bbq in Houston, we’ve been here maybe 5 or 6 times already. We like the quality of meat they served(alot better than many korean bbq restaurants we’ve been to), that’s why we keep coming back !! The portion seemed to have gotten smaller so I’m taking one star off ! We ordered a seafood pancake, dumpling soup, a large beef deluxe combo and a large pork deluxe combo. All that food for 5 pax.

Came here for a birthday dinner, and didn’t really expect too much since I couldn’t check out the menu online before I went(it wouldn’t load online). I liked the private rooms/space this restaurant has. It’s good for groups of people to chat and spend time while grilling meat. For the evening, I finally decided on the the grilled chicken. I thought it was flavorful. Think the sides could be better, but it’s not bad. I liked the purple rice side the most. The free rice soup thing at the end tasted good too. Service could be better, but I think it’s because of language barrier. If I were on this side of town and with others, I would consider going again.

This is where the old Nam Gang Korean restaurant use to be. Based on reviews, this new ownership took over in May 2015. 1. Service — the waiters are very attentive, and they even grilled our meat for us! I felt like a King! It’s A-La-Carte, so you get seated by the host/hostess, order at the table, and you also pay at the table. 2. Price — it costs about $ 20-$ 30 a person, but it depends on how much you order. 3. Ambiance — it has traditional bamboo rooms. So it may look like a typical ancient house that you would see in the Tom Cruise movie, «The Last Samurai». It’s an experience, and dress code is casual. Good place to bring a date, but mainly for large groups of people(4 or more). 4. Food — you want to order their BBQ dishes. That way you can grill it yourself or if they have enough staff, they will even cook for you. Order anything from short ribs, to marinated pork or beef. You won’t go wrong there. Along with your order, they will also serve you many small plates of marinated veggies like Kim Chi(spicy cabbage), bean sprouts, potatoes, seaweed, fish cake, and other vegetables I can’t quite think of right now. 5. Cleanliness — nothing against this place, but for Korean BBQ restaurants in general, don’t expect to come out of there smelling clean and refreshing. Instead, you’ll smell like grill and smoke. So definitely don’t go here before attending a ballet show, graduation, or orchestra concert. Haha. So with this in mind, it’s typical to be welcomed by a smokey house(smells really good though) and can have greasy floors. That’s what I’ve observed in most Korean BBQ places. Some tables here have a «range hood» to ventilate the smoke out. That may help, but you’ll still smell like food after. Haha. Enjoy!

The service is great, the BBQ& food are wonderful and prices are reasonable. I just realized they are the same owner with Bonga, one of my favorite Korean seafood soup restaurant. No wonder the soup in FlowerPiggy is so flavourful too! Like this new place, will definitely recommend to people who like BBQ:) P. S. Pork BBQ combo AND Korean Fried chicken are really tasty:)

Being in a mood for Korean, my dining partner suggested this place he found on Unilocal.I didn’t know much about the place going in. The interior was quite nice with its wooden walls, thick granite tables and a large hood vents hanging conveniently over every table. It was painfully slow during lunch, and only one other table was seated during the entirety of our meal. If you come for lunch, they have a lot of great lunch deals. The galbi lunch box set what I settled on, and it is a really tasty option. Honestly, I’m not really one that usually goes crazy for galbi, but I will say it was pretty tasty. You get a generous portion for lunch along with some banchan. The meat was cooked to a nice medium/medium well and mouth-watering good. The salad, potato salad, and fried dumpling were nice. My dining partner ordered the seafood sundubu. It definitely had a nice amount of squid and tiny mussels and of course, a single shell in shrimp. It wasn’t the most flavorful tofu stew I have had and I didn’t really taste much spice, but a dash of salt really helped elevated those oceany flavors. As for the banchan, you don’t get large amounts of it, though you can ask for a refill. The cabbage kimchi was pretty average unfortunately. I’m not a fan of cucumber, but the cucumber banchan was really good! They have a little buzzer you can ring at your table to summon your wait staff if you need anything. I love it! Definitely one of the better Korean restaurants I have been to!

Houston, I’m back! And craving Korean BBQ more than ever! I came with a friend on a Sunday around 2pm, there were about 3 other occupied tables out of the entire restaurant. I guess they get more poppin’ around dinner time. We ordered the small beef deluxe, which comes with three types of beef, grilled corn with cheese, steamed egg, and choice of kimchi or doengjang soup, along with an order of seafood pancake appetizer. Seafood pancake was A+, crispy on the outside, and filled with lots of seafood and onions. We each had only a slice before they brought out the beef deluxe and started grilling it. The beef deluxe comes with thinly sliced brisket, marinated short ribs, and rib eye. The short ribs and rib eye were my favorite. They marinated it so well and I picked it off from the grill just before it got cooked to medium well. I love that this deluxe set comes with steamed egg and grilled corn with cheese. Not many places offer these dishes. The kimchi soup that came with it was also good. They put a good amount of pork belly pieces and was a nice addition to the entire meal. Also, sides dishes were on point and I love any place that gives you purple rice! Purple rice tastes the same as regular rice, they just cooked it with other grains which gives it more nutrients. Our eyes were definitely more hungry than our stomachs as we shouldn’t have gotten the seafood pancake(but still so good!!!). The small beef deluxe was perfect for two people. $ 55 for the entire set may have been a bit pricey. But so far, this place has one of the better Korean BBQ flavor out of the other KBBQ places i’ve been to in the area. Also love that they have those bells to call servers so you don’t have to keep an eye on one to flag them down. Definitely recommend this place for KBBQ in Houston!

The Rice Bowls are ridic good! The portions inside the actual bowl are right, and they give you a number of extra small side plates with tasty items like vinegar veggies, kimchi, broccoli, potato salad(yes I mean that), fish cakes, etc. Also the serving mechanism of the iron bowls lends to deliciousness! The bowl is so hot that the rice at the bottom continues to cook and forms a tasty hard solidified substance at the bottom of your bowl! I went with veggie and tofu(bc I love veggies and tofu) and it was very good. My bf went with pork and kimchi, which was also good.

Having been to this location a few years ago while it was called«Nam Gang» Now it’s got a cuter name, Flower Piggy! Nice meeting you, Flower Piggy! *xoxo* For appetizers, the seafood pancake was standard but the raw beef w/shredded Asian pears was really really really good! I loved the raw beef and if i were coming back, I’d have to order the raw beef again! The BBQ meat combos were a tad pricey ranging from $ 47.99-$ 49.99 per small combo that came with a few different types and cuts of Beef, Pork, or Mixed meat(beef pork and chicken), alongside a small plate of sizzling cheese corn, soy bean or kimche soup of one’s choice, and steamed egg. The four of us had ordered a small Beef Deluxe and a small Pork Deluxe combos, of which honestly the meats were sorta overcooked, as in dry and chewy *meh!* I had enjoyed the steamed egg, the acorn jelly from the complimentary banchan dishes, and the black/purple rice, while the soy bean soup tasted a little funny like some 10x saltier version of the Japanese miso soup(oh no…) The complimentary sliced watermelon ended the meal on a sweet, refreshing note. Service was quick but not really attentive; servers did not speak English fluently.

This is a pretty standard place for Korean food. It’s pretty cold in here though, so bring a jacket if you tend to get chilly. I had a bulgogi bento box for lunch. It came with soup, salad, purple rice, and banchan(fish cakes, cabbage and cucumber kimchi, potatoes, etc). It was all pretty average. I find that lately the Korean restaurants I eat at all have had pretty chewy/fatty bulgogi. The flavor is fine, I just don’t personally dig that texture and dislike having to pick around the chewy fat. The soup/salad/sides were all pretty good, and comparable with other places in the area.

So as a meat lover(lover is an understatement), I can be pretty ecstatic when it comes to Korean BBQ. My must have item at every KBBQ restaurant I visit would be the Galbi, or Marinated Beef Short Ribs. My rankings of these KBBQ restaurants depend heavily on how much I enjoy this specific dish. KBBQ is the bomb not only because the Marinated Beef Short Ribs is drenched in a unique sauce that makes it so delectable, but also because they let you grill your own meat. And since I usually like my beef to be medium rare, grilling my own meat means I can perfectly control of how well done each piece is cooked. The flavor of the Galbi at Flower Piggy does not lack when compared to other KBBQ restaurants I have visited. The meat is cut thick, and there was plenty of fat, making each bite mind-blowingly juicy, whether it was well done or not. On top of your normal army of small side dishes every Korean restaurant serve with your meal, they also had the purple rice, which is said to be much healthier than white rice. We also ordered the Seafood Pancake, which my gf loved. The only hesitation I had was with the service, because it could take some time to flag down a server, since they spend time at other tables to help them cook. Also, the pricing of their menu is no laughing matter. Flower Piggy can be considered one of the more pricey KBBQ restaurants in Houston. But the quality of their food makes for a solid backing on those prices.

My boyfriend and I came here on a very lazy Monday evening to cure our case of the Mondays. We were craving Korean BAD. We arrived and got seated immediately by the sweetest host/waitress. Service/cleanliness of the restaurant definitely up to par. Food was alright. We had the kalbi and spicy tofu soup with beef. Both were so so. The kalbi came out sizzling(which I love) but lacked in flavor and was a bit dry. The soup was good at first but the beef itself lacked flavor. The sides were pretty typical and nothing special. They do have an option for you to cook your own mean but we did not opt for that. Total price for was $ 50 including tip. A little steep if you ask me. I’d come back because there aren’t many options in Houston but I will definitely continue my search for my favorite Korean spot in town.

This was my first time here and my gosh it was good! We ordered the beef delux for 3 ppl and that was enough for us. Also order the Kim chi soup but that wasn’t so good very bland. Service was okay I know they were busy but they need more servers if that is the case. Because we didn’t get our order in until almost 20min later asked for rice 3 times and by the time she came out with the rice we were cooking our last set of meat. Overall the food was great but the derive was bad hence my 4 star review I’ll come back a few more times and bump up the reviews.

we wanted to try it more, but the hours on Unilocal were wrong. THey close at 10 or 10:30 on saturday night. And we asked if we could get take out. The owner or manager was agreeable and served us hot tea. We only got to try the tofu soup as take out and the food was good, tasty and with spice. next time will try out the food sitting down.

I remember the Korean BBQ place that used to be here, and gotta say not a lot has changed. This place is just mediocre without any of the frills or whistles. Although it does the job when I am in Houston and needing a KBBQ fix, I have definitely had better.

Tried this Korean BBQ place and we enjoyed it a lot. The ladies are friendly. We ordered the marinated boneless short ribs, pork belly, beef tongue, and squid to grill at the table. Their soft tofu soups(both beef and seafood) tasted fine. Their salad dressing is delicious and the seafood pancake is very good. We’ll come back again and bump up the review rating once we get a chance to eat here a few times.

Our new favorite Korean restaurant in Houston! We are always in search for an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant and so far there is only ONE in Houston and its a bit pricey, more than $ 30 a person so even though they aren’t all you can eat, its a great amount of food and for the right price. We ordered the small Beef Deluxe for $ 55 and it was the right amount of food for my boyfriend(protein lover) and I. All the meats were marinated perfectly and the staff was so helpful in making sure our meats were cooked at the correct temperature. The meats were also great cuts of meat. Our favorite was the short ribs. The sides! OMG, they give you a choice of a soup and we ordered the kimchee soup. Its a bit spicy but that was expected and delicious. The corn thats served with this is amazing. It was one of our favorites here. All the sides are unlimited and there wasn’t one side that we didn’t like so we got refills quite a few times. If you’re a fan of the purple rice, don’t fret, they have it here!!! They also have barley tea, its a great drink for Korean food. As I’m writing this review, I’m planning out my next visit here. It’s that good.

I love this place. Not only because they use charcoal to grill, but because the banchan were fresh, and while the meat servings weren’t HUGE, they were enough. Besides, in Korea, we fill up on the banchan, and the meat is the complimentary dish. Service was good. Easy parking. The BBQ combos are good, albeit a bit pricey for what I expected. However, they do have chadol baegi, which I haven’t had in a while, so that made up for almost everything. I haven’t checked out any other Korean restaurants in Spring Branch, but will be next time I visit H-town! Two of us got the BBQ Delux combo and it was $ 55.00 approximately including the tip.

Is this a new place? I’ve been here a couple of times and this place doesn’t get packed. The service here is great. I had came here for lunch and for dinner with friends. We ordered kimchi pancakes, bbq meats, and they gave us the side dishes and purple rice. It’s different from the other places which I liked because I feel that their food, service and how clean this restaurant is might be my favorite place for Korean BBQ.

My husband and I went here and ordered beef deluxe set($ 54.5). Id say it is a little pricey but we got a lot for it. The grilling experience was nice but i really wish it was charcoal instead of gas to add more smokey flavor. The neat thing about this place was they have a bell on each table so we can call the waitress for some assistance in a more convenient way, but I honestly think they need to hire more people to increase the service quality since its hard to be the hostess, server and cashier at the same time. They also gave the sweet cold beverage at the end of the meal time, which i think as a nice touch for them. Overall I would recommend this place to others who wants to enjoy delicious and fresh korean BBQ!

Dinner here was nice. The server recommended the Dolsat Bibimbap, maybe because she thought I’d be less adventurous than their Korean clientele, or maybe because I was dining alone and a full BBQ setup would have been too much work. Regardless, is was excellent Bibimbap. Light on the beef, but I don’t mind that at all, as it’s really the mix of flavors that make Bibimbap so good. The kimchi and other side dishes(banchan) were excellent, and they were generous with replacements. I left here stuffed and didn’t taste anything that wasn’t good. Next time I’ll try something more adventurous.

Love love LOVETHISKOREANBBQPLACE! Heard about this place from several friends and saw so many postings on Facebook raving about awesome this place is. Naturally I had to try this place out for myself. Brought non Asians and they enjoyed it just as much as I did. Some of them never even venture outside of their steak n potatoes meals but they still loved it also. This place is really spacious and is a great place for large parties. They cook and serve the bbq for you and use real charcoal. The seafood pancake was honestly the best I’ve ever had and I love Korean food so I’ve had many.

Went here for lunch today, food was really good! I would have to say they have the best kimchi pancakes. It’s not soggy like most other places and the batter has the best flavor. The meats were tender and flavorful and the soup and salad were really good as well! My only complaint was that they did not have a huge variety of sides but overall everything was delicious. This is my new k bbq spot!

I wish I was back in Cali!): Sunday brunch to get over my korean cravings! Service is great, but I wish the menu had better combos. I really wanted to try the pork jowl, marinated short ribs, and beef brisket. The combo either came with 3 different beef, or 3 different porks with sides and soup. I went ahead and just got the pork jowl and beef brisket which is probably almost the same price as the combo.): There was only 2 of us so I already knew it was almost impossible to finish the combo. –Pork Jowl —(4⁄5) I heard good things about the pork cheek and it is good, but I feel like this has more fat than the other pork meats. Next time I’ll try the pork neck. It’s not marinated but it’s still pretty good. –Beef Brisket —(3⁄5) The brisket was okay, I have tried more fresh brisket than this one. This isn’t marinated either, but I’m glad we got two different types of meat because it was just so much fat with the other meat. I would come back again to try the other meats. The sides were alright, they didn’t have white seaweed unfortunately. I really liked the salad, had a lot of dressing in it though. Must retry for the soup, short ribs, and pork neck!

Glad to say I have another Korean restaurant to go to and so far it’s the best overall. I eat Korean food weekly so that’s saying a lot. Atmosphere is bright, clean and inviting. Comparing with the other Korean restaurants in the area, service is a little slow but much friendlier and I like how they allow you to grill meats yourself without a minimum of two meats! Also, they offer a variety and probably more sides. All the sides were good, my favorite is the pickled cucumber, fish cake and bean sprouts. Seared pork belly(5⁄5) good cuts of pork belly where there was a good proportion of meat and fattiness! also a thicker cut then I’d usually get. spicy sashimi cold noodles(3⁄5) I wanted to try something different and I was told that this was a very popular Korean dish. Not seeing how… It was just the spicy Korean sauce tossed in buckwheat noodles with raw beef. Not something I would order again. Spicy beef Korean tofu stew(4⁄5) the flavoring was good but would’ve been perfect with a little more seasoning added and incase you’re wondering, spicy isn’t all that hot. My favorite part is when they offer the yummy rice juice for dessert to clean your palate! I’ve read that the marinated short ribs are really popular so I look forward to trying that next.

Pretty good Korean BBQ place. I would come back if I’m in the area. We had the japchae, kimchi pancake, spicy pork, and marinated beef ribs. The meat was very flavorful and the portions were just right. Their ban chans are pretty good too since they are the ones I usually like eating. They give you purple rice for each grilled meat. At the end of your meal they give you the ginger rice drink and that was very good. I like the fact that it’s not overly sweet or cinnamony(is that even a word!) Lol. Service is a bit slow but that’s normal for most Asian places. The restaurant is typical Asian décor n cleanliness too. Haha. Since the food is good I wouldn’t let that deter you from trying this place. Yum! Yum!

My first Korean BBQ experience and I was not dissapointed. Much pricer than I expected, though I suppose that’s because I’ve never had it before. For our group of 8, we ordered a small beef and a large pork. The total added up to about $ 170. The beef was my favorite — juicy and flavorful, though my friends preferred the pork. The soup and purple rice were both great additions. Out of the plethora of side dishes that accompanied the meat, my favorite were the corn, fluffy egg, and tofu. They also gave us sweet rice water at the end, which was a nice surprise. One last note: definitely come here with a group — it’s the ultimate bonding food :)

Weird name with good food. The ladies that worked there were really nice and attentive. Refilled our drinks and checked on us often. Boneless short ribs: make sure you tell the ladies that you want to cook this yourself or they will do it in the back for you! Always a plus when you can control how caramelized your meat gets. The ribs were very flavorful and tender.(5⁄5) Tofu, seafood soup: we asked for extra spicy, it was not. Disappointed with that. Lots of tofu, few octopus tentacles here and there and maybe a couple of tiny shrimp lol. The flavor was still there(4⁄5) You also get your normal side dishes, as you do with all Korean food. Their salad stood out the most! Great flavor Would I come back? Yes! I love smelling like meat when I leave(jk)

I saw that this new Korean restaurant opened up and since it was highly rated, I decided to check it out. The price point and limited side dishes only being offered for certain entrees knocks off couple stars for me. Our waitress was really friendly so I enjoyed her company and small talk. She highly recommended the deluxe pork or beef package which can feed 2 – 4 people apparently. We ordered the dol sot bibimbap(hot stone mixed Korean rice), kimchi and zucchini Korean jeon, marinated dak bulgogi(chicken). The side dishes were very limited and it only came with the dak bulgogi entrée. For it being $ 20 I expected much more out of this dish. It was good, tender and flavorful but the quantity was sparse. The kimchi and zucchini jeon was very delicious. A very good size portion you can share with 4 people. The soy sauce with sesame seeds that came with as the dipping dish was a perfect pairing to the pancake. The hot stone bowl bibimbap was average. The positive thing is that they serve purple rice with beans which is healthier than white rice. But the hot stone bowl didn’t make the rice or veggies crispy as it should. I wasn’t impressed by this dish. Staff is attentive with refilling water but not your side dishes unless you bring it to their attention. The restaurant is very spacious and you can grill your own Korean BBQ. At the end of your meal you get served the traditional Korean sweet rice drink. I wish it could have been chilled more. Not sure we’d come here again because of the pricing. There’s other Korean restaurants that are better quality, quality and pricing.
