Their sandwiches were good! I love vietnamese sandwiches because they always add cilantro and made the whole thing better!

Another amazing Unilocal find! This place is in the corner unit of the plaza where La Michoacana Meat Market and Flower piggy are located, with a Jack in the box in the next plaza. The grilled pork banh mi’s here are Mmm Mmm GOOOOOD. Their baguettes are crunchy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. The grilled pork is a combination of sweet and savory with a hint of lemongrass, SOOOO delicious. The picked carrots with cilantro and cucumbers adds refreshing to every bite of your sandwich, and wow the house made garlic aioli is seriously THEBOMB. I don’t think I can be completely satisfied with another banh mi sandwich anywhere else after this that doesn’t serve garlic aiolic. It’s creamy and has just the right hint of garlic. SOGOOD. Service here is also quick. It’s an order-at-the-counter-and-find-your-own seat type place, and the food comes out within 5 minutes. My only complaint is that the lady has very poor English and I had to repeat my order several times before she got it, however, I could tell she was trying extremely hard to get my order perfectly, so A+ for effort. On my luxury scale of banh mi’s this place is definitely in the middle($ 4.50/sandwich), compared to Dons Sandwich on the low end($ 2.50/sandwich) and Le Baguette($ 6.99/sandwich) on the high end, but it is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Great Bahn Mi for low low prices. I live a couple of blocks down and end up visiting this place pretty often. They are always super busy, probably because of their newfound fame on the social networking websites like Unilocal.Hopefully, they will retain their quality in the coming days unlike some other Unilocal stars that I had hopes about in the past.

Love this place! So convenient to my work, so great for lunch. Great customer service! Love how they are super prompt even when they are busy. Great that I can call ahead and place my order for pickup when I’m busy.

Overall, a 3.5 but I leaned to 4 for the service. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Food(3⁄5). For what it’s worth, it’s not a bad sandwich shop. Is it great? I wouldn’t be that bold to say so. If you’re in downtown Houston, Les Givral’s. Chinatown: Nguyen Ngo, Don Café, Alpha Bakery, Thanh Noi, and this list goes on… Put it like this, if they were in Chinatown or Downtown, the sandwiches would likely be considered B-grade. For the price($ 4 – 5), the banh mi isn’t to par in terms of flavor and quantity(somewhat small sandwiches). Wings are good. Service(5⁄5). Probably one of the best services I’ve seen at small shops. The staff are well trained; they’re attentive and very friendly and sociable. It was a wise decision by owners to locate themselves in a very unsaturated area with regards to banh mi shops. It seems to be catered to those with little to no access to other banh shops. If you’re around the area, it’s worth a stop. Otherwise, treat yourself to other banh mi in Chinatown or Les Givral’s.

I’m a sucker for a good sandwich and this place serves the best bahn mí I’ve ever had. I spend a lot of time in Austin where these sandwiches are plastered with«speciality» labels and cost upwards of $ 12, which is absurd. I paid $ 9 total for a spicy tofu sandwich and Thai tea that were both out of this world delicious. The baguette is perfectly crisp and nothing in the sandwich is over powering. Firm lemon grass tofu, pickled veggies, jalapeños, and an unbelievably delicious garlic mayo make this a sandwich I will say that if you come pretty hungry, the tofu sandwich isn’t enough to fill you up. That’s perfectly fine seeing as they charge less than $ 5 for it. They do have an assortment of spring rolls and sandwich add ons like avocado and egg that could make the make completely filling. I would easily drive 30 minutes from home to get!

Thanks for having a nice, clean, efficient Viet restaurant in this area. I appreciate it and I gave them the extra STAR for it. I love a good Banh Mi sandwich w/o Jalepenos and theres is pretty good. The Lemon Pepper Hot Wings are good too. I’m Americano so that’s what I like. The restaurant gives off a young, hip Asian vibe with the décor and music. No prob. Service is excellent. Comfortable atmosphere but very, very limited seating and parking for that matter.

Was in the Memorial area for a doctors appointment and this location came up with over 600++ reviews 4.5 stars. Locked it in on my GPS and went down the road. First appearance is not much! Very small and a strip mall. As a warning it’s short on parking!!! Got their around 11:30. Quite a few there already. Small menu but many combinations, but a little confusing for the first timer. Had a Vietnamese man by me in line and asked what he recommended! He was getting the grilled pork sandwich. I also tried the shrimp and pork belly spring rolls! The young lady that took my order was WONDERFUL, and dumb me did not ask her name! She helped me considerably. She warned when it gets close to 12:00 they will have a loooong line. And they do, but many order takeout. Noticed they have their own app and you can order with their app in advance. The waitress, a little while later, and it wasn’t as busy as it gets, brought me a bowl of phở(soup) to try for free, AWESOME! Cannot wait to take friends and family. Sad, I live in Whatton, which is SW of Houston about 45 miles and this place is on I 10 side of town! Looks, not so much, great food and wonderful wait staff, you bet! Get there early or get their app to order ahead!

This is my favorite place for Bành mi! My favorite is a tie between The Special and The Chopped Ribeye. Add an egg of course! My other absolute favorite menu item it the alphabet soup. Omg, I’m drooling just writing this review. Lol My favorite thing about Roostar is the EXCELLENTLY customer service. Seriously. They are totally on top of their game. Also, I have seen that they are involved with several charitable events around Houston and I seriously appreciate that. I think I’ll have to stop by there tomorrow now haha!

Well deserved fiver stars. Banh His(viet sandwiches) are so good. Highly recommend grilled pork and pork belly. Ask for extra mayo, it’s not regular mayo it enhances the sand which x100000 Wings are great too. Very flavorful with ranch sauce. Beef alphabet soup was too salty but filling. Beverages(Thai, milk tea, coffee) are too expensive $ 4.50 for a medium sized cups.

My favorite Banh Mi in Houston. They use delicious fresh French bread. I love how they have innovated the traditional banh mi options to be something that feels wholy their own. I prefer the BBQ Pork and add a fried egg. Everytime I eat here, it feels like this is how food should always be. Fresh, not overly complex, and savory. I also highly recommend their lemon pepper wings. If you like your wings crispy, this is the place for you. The young owners here are doing an excellent job elevating a Vietnamese staple. Kudos. Best if you are able to go non weekday lunch hour. Gets very busy and the parking sucks.

Literally the best banh mi I’ve ever had in my life… The garlic aioli and the pâté are out of this world! I had dinner on Friday… it’s Monday now and I’m still thinking about the special sandwich I had. Thanks to my bestie who introduced me to this place! The menu focuses on mainly sandwiches and rice/noodle bowls. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and they’ll bring your food to you. Service is friendly and fast. You won’t find phở or any other noodle soups here but they do have alphabet beef soup which is delicious and definitely comforted me with my allergies that day. If there is one con… it may be the price for a banh mi. But I believe you pay for what you get here.

Prices have raised. Banh Mi started at 3.79 to 4.29 now its at 4.50.Also, there is a 6 dollar minimum to use your credit card which sucks if you’re short on cash. I know other places a Banh Mi usually go for around 3 to 4 bucks max, but this place is worth the extra buck. Also, the parking sucks(small strip center) and the seating is very limited on the inside, so I have always got my order to-go. With all that said, this is one of my favorite banh mi spots. The bread is always nice and crispy, veggies fresh and the meat seasoned well. I’ve never had a problem with the meat feeling a little skimpy as other reviewers. The staff is friendly and they have come to know my order as soon as I walk through the door. They also have some great sriracha glazed wings as well as other things on the menu that I have yet to try, like tofu. Beside Phở Le this is another favorite Vietnamese spot!

Was so hyped by the raved reviews that people gave this place, it’s in a very small plaza and inside there is about seating for 20 people, simple menu, it’s like dyi banh mi with different meats, I got the chopped beef while the gf got the special, bread was nice and crispy, ingredients were a little skimpy, my chopped beef was nicely seasoned but honestly I can’t tell the different between this place and other banh mi places in Chinatown, it’s a cool idea that you can add a fried egg, avocado and stuff but kind of expensive, I was still hungry after one, I think I prefer going to the mom and pop banh mi places

For my first restaurant review, I couldn’t have picked a better place! After hearing about the restaurant and reading all the positive reviews, I knew I had to try this restaurant with a quirky name! The locale is in a plaza with a parking lot, which is nice for all of the non-parallel parkers out there(including myself). The restaurant itself is not big, which makes it fee really homey. The staff is also exceptionally helpful and friendly. The first thing I noticed when looking at the menu is how vegetarian-friendly it is! It’s a nice thing to see as a recently converted veggie-head and avid Banh Mi lover. The meat sandwiches look mouth-watering as well for all my omnivore friends. They also have box meal deals and wings which is really cool because most places only do sandwiches. I got the avocado sandwich with a fried egg and the tofu spring rolls. I’ll start with the spring rolls. I was happy to see they had this option because I’ve never seen it before! They’re already pre wrapped in the front, which is good because I was starving. Personally, I like my rolls to be filled with more greens than anything else, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying them. They’re filled with just the right amount of fillings! The sandwich was the best part of the meal. You’re definitely getting your money’s worth here! The sandwich is big enough that you just need one, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting two. It was overflowing with filling which is a good sight for the price! It wasn’t packed with vegetables, which a lot of other places do, which I was really happy about as well. One of the owners recommended me to put the peanut sauce on my sandwich, which I’ll recommend everyone to do as well, it really makes the difference. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely stop by each time I’m in this part of town. I can now see why this place gets all the praise it does!

Great customer service. Banh Mi is the best. I got one beef and one chicken banh mi sandwiches. I also ordered 12 chicken wings with Lemon Pepper, Sriracha Glazed and Sweet Chilli flavor. The rep insisted that I only take the last two flavors. But I wanted to try as many as I could. Anyways, I should’ve listened to him. Don’t order lemon pepper flavor. The lemon flavor is so strong that it’s almost bitter and very salty. But the other two flavors are AMAZING! Food price is above average. I mostly buy Banh Mi for $ 2.5 to $ 3.5 max. But here is it’s $ 4.29. But it’s DEFINITELY worth it. The thai tea I ordered was half full in a to-go cup. I wanted light ice on it, but that shouldn’t reduce the thai tea by half. 1 star less for these reasons. I love vietnamese food and now this is my favorite Banh Mi place. I’ll definitely go back.

First, the staff was so friendly. The woman that took our order was very helpful and suggested we try the Special sandwich(we did, and it was AMAZING) to go with our spring rolls. Everything was tasty, but especially the Banh mi. I mean, wow. The special we ate had pâté, porkbelly and turkey,(I think?) plus the usual veggies. The spring rolls were nice and fresh, and my Thai tea was delicious(and gone way too fast). I will say that the parking here is pretty limited, as it is in a busy strip center. We will visit again!

I am a sucker for Vietnamese food, so if I land one that makes my taste palettes go off the roof, I’ll highly recommend it. So far I have had the thai tea, the pork belly banh mi and the grilled pork banh mi. If you want somrthing delicious, flavor-packed go for the staple grilled pork with an egg added in. Additional bonus: banh mis are already cheap so you will never feel guilty about your purchase. Want some additional fillings for your stomach? Get the garlic chicken wings.

New timer in the house ! Lol. I got here just before the munch rush Shrimp spring rolls were def fresh and peanut sauce was on point.(4⁄5) Grilled pork sandwich(5⁄5) Garlic aioli sauce was a little more pronounced on this vs the steak version. The pork was succulent and much less fatty than the usual I’ve found anywhere else. Outside of the ribeye version, this is the best Vietnamese sandwhich I’ve ever had Chopped ribeye sandwich(5.5÷5) lol Wow. I’m a little speechless. The bun is soft but slightly crunchy. Perfect bun. The meat takes center stage and the flavor is out of this world. It’s perfectly tender, savory and I detect zero excessive fat. The veggies are fresh and flavorful/adds texture without overwhelming the sandwhich. The aioli sauce blends everything perfectly. I’ve experienced a lot of Vietnamese sandwiches and none compare to this one. A few things I should mention: 1) There was plenty of meat but you can def ask For extra… 2) I did not add anything out of the regular old versions… egg/avocado etc would Have really taken these sandwiches to Heaven. But I always feel like ordering basics before I know a place can handle extras :-) The extras are going down on my next visit! I have found the king of Vietnamese sandwiches !!! And it looks like I’m late to the party haha

Houston, you are so lucky that you have more than one options for great banh mi. The banh mi here is more expensive than other places but I believe that’s because of the meat they offer. We chose rib-eye which is not typical of the meats banh mi come with. Also, we added pâté and egg in ours so that was a few extra bucks. Nevertheless, the banh mi was really good. The bread was crispy, soft, and firm enough to hold the stuffings inside. The meat was soft and juicy and I would recommend getting the rib-eye. There was plenty of meat in there to justify the price. That green pepper they threw in wasn’t terribly spicy and actually complemented the banh mi as a whole. Usually I have to take it out because my tongue would catch on fire and I can’t finish the banh mi. Overall, had a good experience here so come check this place if you’re in the area and craving some banh mi!

I’ve been wanting to try this place out because so many Unilocalers have raved about it. The first time I came here with my sister they were closed for renovations. When I walked in, I noticed there were a lot of groups chit chatting and eating. I looked at the menu on the wall and couldn’t decide what to order. The girl at the register told me if I had any questions she would help me. She was very friendly and sweet. CHOPPEDRIBEYE– ribeye, garlic aioli, pickled carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, jalapenos, soy sauce, and addition of pâté I loved that the baguette was crispy. The banh mi had a lot of nice flavors. The ribeye was cut into smaller pieces, but it wasn’t super tender. It was a bit chewy. The carrots, cucumbers, and jalapenos added a nice crunch and refreshing taste. I added a spread of pâté, but I couldn’t even taste it. That was disappointing. The biggest negative thing I would have to say about this banh mi is that the soy sauce was a bit overpowering. It created a very salty taste in my mouth. SPRINGROLLS– shrimp, pork belly, fresh vegetables, and noodles all wrapped in rice paper These spring rolls weren’t bad, but they weren’t filled up as much as other places that make spring rolls. They looked filled, but when you bite into them, the spring rolls became loose and slowly started falling apart. The sauce was missing some peanuts for that crunch and a bit of chili to add some spice. Overall, I’ve had worse, but I’ve also had better banh mi and spring rolls around town. The ribeye shouldn’t be chopped so finely, there should be less soy sauce, and if I ordered some pâté, I expect to taste it in my sandwich. The spring rolls tasted very authentically Vietnamese, but was missing some peanuts and chili pepper for the sauce and could use some more ingredients in order to fill them up properly. This place has decent food. There are other asian places that serve about the same type of food for cheaper prices, but if I’m in the area and I happen to crave for them specifically then I’ll stop in.

I really enjoy this place. Service is friendly and the place is run very well. Everything has always tasted hot and fresh every time I’ve been here. Its hard to knock a business that runs itself like a well oiled machine. I dont recall how they Americanize’d the Vietnamese food in the menu but: Bun Thit Nuong 4 of 5. Noodles with grilled pork. The veggies are fresh, the noodles are made just like mom’s and the meat is well seasoned and HOT when its served. Fried Rice 3 of 5. The rice is fried fresh when you order, it just has to be. Its a little on the salty side but I just love that its not fried rice sitting in a warmer that they scoop out. Lemon Pepper Chicken wings 4 of 5. I gave an extra star because its pretty much like what you’d find at Wingstop or Buffalo Wild Wings. Its a tad too much seasoning for me, but I generally like my LPC a little less flavorful than the majority. Banh Mi Thit Nguoi 4 of 5. Vietnamese cold cut sandwich. Again, an extra star because its a little too flavorful for me but its not my first time here, I just ask for a little less soy sauce /Maggi and we’re good. The pâté/garlic aioli is super flavorful and definitely made in house. I would say its the hipster Banh Mi made for American audiences. I’m definitely a fan. Lots of respect for a restaurant run so well. However the style is much more flavorful than a traditional Vietnamese shop and carb/protein ratio is a little skewed for my tastes. This review is a reflection of my personal tastes otherwise this place gets 5 stars, VERY rare for a place at this price point to be this consistently good.

I could have sworn I already made a review for here since it’s been my fifth visit but there is not much that I can add but a few cliff notes to where everybody is pretty much parallel in their opinion here. 1) Excellent service, there is a young lady here that can remember your name even if you have not visited here in a century. That’s detail folks. 2) Clean all over the establishment. 3) Reasonable prices especially for a place that does not have any competition. 4) Decent selection not only sandwiches but a few worthwhile food selections worth keeping up because there will always be a great compliment to what is ordered. 5) All of the staff is courteous, front to back. Cons: Parking, get over it, :D

I needed a fix, and there were no banh mi paces in Pearland open after 8 to resolve this issue. So I’ve heard about this place through friends. I looked it up on Unilocal, saw that some friends of mine already wrote quite positive reviews, and made the journey to the mecca of post 8pm banh mi enthusiasts. I walked in, and everyone that worked there said hello. I placed a request for a gogi beef banh mi with fried egg, an order of egg rolls, and a thai tea with the pleasant gal manning the register. Boba is life and I had to give it a shot, since thai tea is one of my preferences. And here’s the skinny. The sandwhich: Fan-friggin-tastic. The meat was delicious(twss, I know), the bread was just right. A little crisp but not too hard(tnwss). The taste was great, nothing skimped. Portioned well. will go back for more. Egg Rolls: these were actually pretty good. Crispy, not burned. The filling was good, tasteful, and not overly oily as compared to other restaurants. Downside, they are tiny, and there are only two. I liked them, but not amazed. Thai Tea: Any place I go for boba(I’ve been around a bit), has to have a good thai tea. It’s not the only thing I get, but it’s one that I like. In the beginning, it was super sweet(cartman voice). But because I had a 30 minute drive and mixed it well, it level out and was very good. I don’t know if it was the mixing, or the ice melting a bit, but it toned down the sweetness and tasted quite well. When one of the gals chauffeured my meal to my table, she told me I had pretty eyes. So obviously this is now one of my favorite places. I plan to go back again and try some of their other offerings in the future. Definitely a spot you should check out if you’re up for a new dining experience, and fantastic service.

Named as «#1 Banh mi restaurant in Houston» by Houston Press, Roostar certainly lives up to this reputation. Roostar encompasses the three essential qualifications that restaurants need: customer service, quality food, and a comfortable environment. As a small-scale restaurant, Roostar’s service is exceptional. Every time I come, I am greeted by friendly workers with genuine smiles. The gestures and greetings are what produced this high customer loyalty. When I came in during lunch time, many of the workers knew the customers on a first-name basis. The staff really care about the customers and makes sure that their needs are constantly being fulfilled. Gogi Banh mi with a fried egg kills it for me every time. The baguette is toasted to the perfect crisp, the fried egg leaves a runny yolk in the center, and the beef is marinaded to where it’s left sweet but savory. Every bite is flavorful and delightful. The story and brand of Roostar is the icing on the cake. Roostar captures the French-Vietnamese culture that originated from the motherland. From the red and yellow color theme of the restaurant to the homely pictures on the wall, it reminds you of Vietnam itself. Roostar does a great job at starting a restaurant with a simple niche menu item that embodies a culture and story. Roostar is at the top of my list for top Banh mi restaurants.
