Great food! The plate size portions are large and come with rice and beans. We got the pollo guisado and desebrada. The tortillas were delicious. Mexican home style cooking! Also, their pan dulce was delicious and fresh! Next time I’m trying a torta!

This place is amazing! I’ve recently moved the the East End area and wanted to try out some local spots. From the outside, you don’t think you’re going to eat the most delicious breakfast tacos, but once you enter the building everything changes. My boyfriend and I didn’t know what to expect so we randomly ordered chorizo and potato tacos and sausage and egg tacos. Each came with a different salsa that was deliciously homemade. The chorizo taco had us planning our next visit! It was beyond delicious. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating as well so we didn’t feel like newbies in the middle of a bakery. We got a few of their pastry items to go for the ride home. If you live anywhere close to this place, you MUST go! Four tacos, two pastries, and two bottled sodas came to $ 11. We will definitely be regulars at La Reynera Bakery!

Wow, this place might be small but the food and pan dulce are amazing! I went for a last minute Mother’s Day gift and the ladies packed me full of goodness. The bread was still warm and they were packed full on the restaurant side. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to dine there as I was in a hurry but my boyfriend and I will definitely be back for the infamous breakfast tacos!

I love this place. I come for the tacos, breakfast and lunch. The donuts are also fantastic. Everything is fresh and made with care. The beef and chicken fajita tacos are not to be missed. The corn tortillas are excellent.

I don’t speak for all… a lot of my family is from the area. This Panaderia/taqueria has been around for a very long time. It’s quality is not what it used to be(still better than most)…since, the Father passed. It’s family owned & operated. The bread is good, but not the same. They make house made tortilla that are to die for. The tortillas seem to of gotten smaller, while the price has gone up significantly. For being a neighborhood staple, they don’t show much pride with their store exterior. They have a lot of loyal customers, mostly from the neighborhood. I will continue to come & enjoy their bread/tortillas. It would be nice to see them show more pride. Slap on a fresh coat of paint. Would go a long way.

I got the beef fajita taco plan and papas con chorizo. Flour tortilla’s were homemade and delicious. Both the fajita meat and potatoes and chorizo were flavored and delicious. Best of all, this place is cheap and clean. It was worth the drive for some tacos!!!

My dad has been bringing us here for years!!! Everything is delicious from the sweet bread to the homemade tortillas and tacos! Every Time I go home I go here! My mom even sends me multiple bags of their tortillas when someone from home comes to visit me! Customer service is great and so is the pricing!

Eastwood is lucky to have this place! I am wrecked that I’ve lived here for 3 years and never went in. Awesome breakfast and lunch tacos with DELICIOUS fresh tortillas made right in front of you. Several ingredients for the tacos — all good quality and stuffed fat. They also do sandwiches, burritos, gorditas — and serve tamales and menudo on weekends. Their barbacoa is delicious and available by the pound if you need to feed some folks. The sweetbreads are all fresh and delicious — all made right there. I had this cinnamon roll thing but the frosting was cajeta(mexican caramel) — OMG!!! The folks who run the place are really nice. I’m already a regular. My next review will be for the Downtown YMCA… lol.

A place like this deserves 5 stars for their melt-in-your-mouth barbacoa tacos. I got mine on corn tortillas with onion and cilantro sprinkled on top. I also had a hankering for breakfast tacos, and this place is my new go-to place for cheap delicious tacos.

Simplicity in form and function, with a throw-back to that South Texas panaderia feeling that you love. Now they do have tacos, and the folks do line up for that. HOWEVER, what brings me here is the Panaderia(bakery) aspect of the store and(disclaimer) I have never eaten the tacos. The array of pan dulce(sweet bread) available here is wondermous. They have a great selection, and if you have ever been the type to do Panaderia for breakfast(with coffee and/or milk), then you are in seventh heaven, as they have the full spectrum in cases with that look that screams«Yes, I am bad for you, amigo, but oh so delicious!» and you will not be disappointed. From traditional sugar cookies to the conchas, cuernos, empanadas, elotitos, ojos de buey and more, this is the definitive place in the area to pick up some delectable dulce that takes you to a special place in the foodie universe. Make a trip to this place just outside EaDo and stock up for a few days of breakfast for the family and watch everyone slow down in the morning to chat, drink coffee, milk, or chocolate milk, and discuss the day to be over pan dulce and some laughs and love.

My goodness taco gods, you really blessed this one. Still chewing but feel the need to expand on what 11 other people have begun – this place is fantastic. Because the ambiance and ordering style have previously been described, I’ll jump right into the heart of it: la comida. The must-order list: Chorizo y papas y huevos – earthy and balanced Carne guisada – deep, rich, flavorful, tender Deshevrada – literally the exact same qualities as above I’ve never felt this way in my life, but salsa isn’t even necessary. We also did some jamón y huevo and fajita de res, and while tasty, the first three will forever outshine them. Honestly, that was the best chorizo I’ve had in town. With six tacos and two Jarritos, the total was less than $ 12. And they were all so nice! Do it, do it now.

OMG This place is amazeballs. No seriously. You need to go here. Now. A friend and I went and got 2 churros, a piece chocolate cake, some flakey doughnut shaped thing, 2 empadadas one stuffed with sweet potato and one stuffed with pumpkin. All this for less then 6 dollars. And every bite was a mouthgasam.

Nice selection of Spanish breads and sweets. I ordered a pink cookie, bread that had sugar coating on top, and 2 lunch tacos(brisket and fajita) all for $ 5.04. The tacos were filling, both meats were juicy and tender. My only gripe, I wish the tacos included onions and cilantro.

Oh yeah. I’m coming back here. They put up with my groggy, jetlagged attempts to wave my hands around and mumble and conjure food and coffee out of the air. I had a chorizo, potatoes, eggs breakfast bowl… At least I think those other ingredients were in it. After I tasted the chorizo, I was in a euphoric trance and when I came to my plate was clean. Oh and tortillas! Those were excellent. Go check it out. Baked goods looked and smelled amazing. Next time…

OMG, am I ever grateful Chris’ step-mom told me about this place; how is that we lived in EADO for a year and a half and never knew of this place??? Oh how I love that they are open until 8pm which is fantastic especially with this crazy Houston weather we have. Ya know what I mean? You wake up to 65 – 70 degree weather, but when you leave work, it has dropped drastically to 40 or below, lol. On those cold nights, I would think about hot cocoa or mexican hot chocolate and pan dulce(sweet bread). I would go and order 4 – 6 pumpkin empanadas which are Chris’ favorite. This has to be the first and ONLY panaderia that actually stuffs their empanadas with filling where most skimp and you get mostly dough. The filling is creamy, sweet and perfectly spiced without being overpowering. I love their bolillos or small french bread loaves which are typically used for mexican tortas(aka sandwiches) or in my case for dipping in my hot chocolate. They have this great pastry called a Novia(or girlfriend lol) which is covered in sugar and has a nice little crispy edge and slightly resembles the pan de huevo(egg bread) or concha(shell); different people call that particular pastry by different names, but they are the ones that come in white, pink, yellow or brown sugar patterns on top. Their sugar cookies are crumbly and delicious. The churros are tasty. The marranitos(little pigs) are soft and tasty. OH yeah, and they also sell tortas, tacos, tamales, gorditas and champurrado(which is very delish and warms the soul). My only regret is that I didn’t find them sooner because I would’ve been here ALOT for sure. If your order is $ 5.00, you may use your credit/debit card; otherwise, have cash handy. Typically I would always make sure to carry cash because I never seemed to reach that $ 5.00 mark regardless of how much I would stop and get!!!(not that I’m complaining). If you’re in the area, check the out; you can’t really go wrong with any of the items here.

My rating may be a bit biased since I have been eating Flour Tortillas from this place since I was 5. You can eat them plain and are still amazing even though they no longer use pig fat for flavoring. They also added whole wheat tortillas. I had their desserts when I was little and they were really good. The best time to come is around 1:30 — 2:45pm because that is when the tortillas are hot off the machine and you can ask for a dozen or two fresh ones! You need to spend over $ 5 to beable to use your credit card.

I first noticed La Reynera thanks to its adorable deco exterior while taking a scenic detour en route to my boyfriend’s Eastwood apartment. I later stumbled across its picture on the Houston Deco site( ), which is run by the Greater Houston Preservation Society as a way to document and protect Art Deco sites in Houston. Ever since I realized it’s been nearly unchanged since its construction in 1945, I’ve been wanting to stop by and support this business – and of course, the acquisition of a few conchas or empanadas would be a bonus. Truly the«reina» of Eastside bakeries, La Reynera is a little panaderia and taqueria tucked away on McKinney in Eastwood. I stopped by this morning to pick up breakfast for me and my boyfriend and decided on two chocolate conchas, two queso empanadas, and a pumpkin empanada to split. The empanadas de queso(cream cheese) were really fantastic. Kept in a refrigerated glass case, these sugar-coated tiny pies were cold and delectable, easily one of the best I’ve ever had – and I am a cheese empanada fiend. The calabaza(pumpkin) was creamy and well-spiced, and the conchas were soft and fluffy. Be prepared to bring your best Spanish skills(or best«pointing at the glass case» skills) because English is in limited supply, but deliciousness is not. With five really great pastries for three dollars and change, I have a feeling that we’ll be back sooner than later, and I’d love to try their tacos to see how they measure up to our beloved Villa Arcos.

Are you familiar with the old Reese’s peanut butter cup slogan: «Two great tastes that taste great together?» Well, this place puts two great tastes(a panaderia and a taqueria) nicely together. If you’ve been keeping up with my antics, you know that I have a publicly admitted addiction to baked goods. And, I’ve also developed a shameful attachment to breakfast tacos. Luckily, its only a weekend recreational thing. So, being a creature of efficiency, I was naturally intrigued with a place that promised to feed both addictions at once. Set in Eastwood(developed around the same time as the Montrose), this place was a former Allbritton’s cafeteria(credit to Danielle S for this knowledge) and is cheerily painted with a yellow exterior. The customer area isn’t very big and is designed for more of a «to go» crowd. Large fans move the air around but since there’s a lot of heat generated, be warned that this place is good for t-shirt and shorts. Not the place for your fancy ball gowns and tails. The taqueria is open until 3PM everyday while the bakery is open until 8PM. There are four stools and a short counter if you want to eat in, which I did. I’ve tried out the huevos con chorizo and the huevos con papas on all of my visits(each $ 1.50). Lunch tacos featuring carne guisada and other staples run $ 1.75 each. They also offer tortas, gorditas, and plates, too. Meanwhile, the cases are laid out so that you cannot help to look at them coming or going. A wide array of cookies, muffins, and other baked goods beckon you. I’ve tried out the empanada de pina(60 cents) as well as the concha(85 cents). The former was fresh and full of bursting pineapple pleasure; the latter was okay yet forgettable. So, if your split personality cannot decide on whether to have a taco or have pastries, just split the difference and try this place out. You can feed both halves without parting with plenty of pesos. * Bring cash — $ 8 minimum credit card purchase.
