Love this place! From the cucumber sandwiches and tomato broth, to the great soups and salads!!! They even have a place for my little one to sit and draw!

Worst place I’ve ever been. Went for breakfast with my husband and left without eating. Embarrassed for waitress who served the food. Food was not edible.

Stopped by today for a to go cup of weak lousy coffee and a pimento sandwich with chips for over 10 bucks. My bag had NO chips and not even a napkin. No wonder there were less than 6 people there for lunch. Never again. This once was a wonderful place.

Bought a Groupon for this place and decided to check it out today. They’re only open until 3 and closed on Sundays so if you’re planning on trying it out, keep that in mind. We were really excited to try the gelato, but I guess they didn’t have any today or maybe they’re not carrying it anymore :(Also inquired about the fancy coffee drinks listed on their site, but the waitress said that they only really have espresso with syrup flavors. She didn’t mention any of the concoctions listed, nor were they on the menu. Maybe their site is outdated? *shrugs* they also didn’t have any soy milk so I couldn’t try out their snickerdoodle or Texas pecan coffee. An available milk alternative should be pretty standard at any place that serves coffee in 2013. Double sad face. Boyfriend ordered the Hearty Burger and I got a slice of the dark chocolate/white chocolate mousse cake and blueberry iced tea. The burger was good, not the best ever but still a lot better than we expected. The cake wasn’t as chocolatey or sweet as I thought it would be considering it’s ALL chocolate– could use a little punch. It came out with whipped cream and sliced strawberry which was a nice touch and made for a very cute plate. Laura’s Café is in a non-descript strip center, so the interior doesn’t much look like the setting for a restaurant. However, the staff, furniture, and décor make it a lot more quaint. The little cup of tomato soup and cucumber sandwich they bring to the table upon being seated is so charming. Feels very«small-town», like a place you’d come across on a road trip in the south. For the food and service, it’s a solid 4 stars, but they didn’t have any of the items we came for so I’ve got to keep it at 3. Overall we enjoyed our food and would come back again– hopefully they’ll have gelato next time!

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten at Laura’s but it has never been a place Togo weekly. It’s small, friendly, slow and not exceptional. The prices don’t match the quality, but the food is good! It’s very tea room esque where you will have soups or sandwiches or cold salad, and that’s about it. I enjoy it for a fun afternoon out. The cucumber sandwiches are really yummy. Still, once I learned how to make those at home, I really didn’t feel a need to return…(Sorry!) the gelato is not very good. I know real gelato and it’s generally not fair to compare that to American Gelato, but it has to be said so you don’t walk in expecting little Italy. Take a little girl there for a cute afternoon snack. Just don’t expect this to be your new daily lunch.

Trying hard to be 5 stars, everything is 4 star except food. My burger taste like it was microwaved!

Went there this morning with a friend, and couldn’t have had a better experience. Great coffee, which kept getting refilled promptly without us having to ask. Even after we had finished and payed, we kept talking and kept getting refills. The sign of a place I plan on returning to again and again. Quiet, tastefully decorated, and my new go-to café for when class ends. Food was good. Had two of the cucumber sandwiches, and for my breakfast I had the pear french toast with eggs and sausage. All of it was excellent, and the portions were great. Maybe 1 – 2 dollars more than I would like, but well worth it, and I’m glad to give my business to an independent place like this.

Wasn’t really impressed with this place at all. The cucumber sandwiches and Tbsp of soup were a cute touch but the taste was nothing special. I got a sandwich that was good, but def not worth the price. and the speed of service left something to desire, too. all in all, don’t know why i would suggest this place for lunch again, plenty of other other good eats in the area…

I absolutely love how quaint Laura’s Café is! Contrary to another reviewers comment, this place is frequented by men as it is right across the street from Jacobs Engineering, which is where hubby works, so I drag him here and he is never the only guy here. The complimentary cucumber sandwich and tomato basil soup is perfect if you’re really hungry cause it’s just enough to hold you over until your food arrives. Hubby always orders the Jamaican Chicken Sandwich with cheddar(instead of Swiss) and on the jalapeño cheese bread. It is very tasty and the grilled, sweet onions add a little something-something. LOL. I recently had some new salad(the name escapes me), but it had strawberries, chicken, bleu cheese and greens. The dressing served was a little tart … I was expecting it to be some sort of sweet vinaigrette, but it was more like Italian dressing mixed with something else. Nonetheless, the salad was very good and quite filling. They also have gelato here, which you can see as you walk in and it looks incredible, but I rarely have it! Service can be a little slow because if they’re crowded, but not too bad.

This is my second favorite Tea room and I love the Chicken salad and they have wonderful desserts Banna Cream cake and I love the sampler platters with soup as an addition. Your always greeted with a cup of basil soup and a cucumber sandwich when you sit to read the menu. I love the art and the gift shop open to café. I miss it being only a tea room though. I hate to go to tea rooms filled with giant hairy men wearing uniforms. I prefer all ladies but I cant blame them for wanting to eat at Lauras. Its highly recomended.

This is my favorite place to go to lunch in Clear Lake… it’s pretty girlie, so I wouldn’t take a guy here. After you are seated they give you a little cucumber finger sandwich and a little cup of their yummy tomato soup to wash it down with… it hits the spot and makes you crave more. I always get some sort of sandwich and a salad with raspberry salad dressing.mmmmmm.they also have an amazing potato soup as well. I seriously think it’s worth the drive down to Clear Lake from Houston or up from Galveston. They started carrying gelato about 6 months ago and it’s perfect for dessert!
