737s, 757s, A320s, etc… If those aren’t just random numbers to you, then you might be interested in the Lee Road Public Observation Area. What is it? It’s basically a parking lot situated at the edge of runway 27 at Intercontinental Airport(IAH). It’s the only official area that you can view airplanes and take pictures of airplanes without notifiying anyone beforehand. So no worries about being harrased by airport police. Runway 27 is mostly used for landings so if you enjoy watching airplanes land, this is the place for you. Even though it is nothing more than a gravel parking lot, portable restrooms are also provided. There are no posted hours but the lot is open during the daylight hours and possibly near sunset. If the passenger pickup waiting lot bores you to tears, you could use this lot instead. Watching airplanes has to be more interesting than watching a parking lot full of other cars.
