I usually don’t go to nice places like this but my friends insisted. They also insisted on paying so I couldn’t argue with that. I liked how small the place was. The lighting was dim, and would be a good place for date night. Very intimate setting, you could say. For appetizers we ordered the steamed clams, beef carpaccio, and corn soup. All were delicious. I wanted to be bold and try the beef carpaccio(beef is raw), and I enjoyed it. The baby arugula was sharp and had a nice bite, just the way I like it. Flavors complemented each other nicely, although I thought they’d put more Parmesan or truffle oil on top. The truffle oil was super super subtle – almost unnoticeable. MAINCOURSES: I got the scallops with butternut squash risotto. I really enjoyed the risotto and thought the butternut squash added a nice and extra creamy flavor to it. The scallops were cooked just right. Not rubbery, but it was a little salty to me. My friends got the filet mignon and the flounder with lump crab risotto. They enjoyed theirs. For dessert: We all ordered one of each dessert for the night and tried them all. There were three tonight: the brownie and raspberry sorbet, the raisin bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, and the vanilla bean crème brûlée with a blueberry coulée. The desserts were fantastic. Bread pudding was soft and not soggy. The crème brûlée was firm and not a creamy mess. The brownie was decadent but the raspberry sorbet added a fresh balance to it. TIP: The place is BYOB so we brought a pink moscato with us to enjoy. There is an $ 8 cork fee if you bring your own bottle. The music selection was great and really surprised me because it’s not exactly mainstream. I would describe it as chill, melodic electronic – which is the stuff I’ve reviewed for work and what I’ve been into this year. Compliments to whoever put the playlist together. As the night got later, more people started coming in and the service was starting to get slow, but our waiter was always professional and organized. I enjoyed dinner and it didn’t fill me up to the point where I couldn’t eat another bite, but I was satisfied coming out of the restaurant. The portions are smaller than what you’d find in other restaurants in Houston(as we all know Texas portions can be huge), so if you’re starving – don’t come here haha. It is a nice place for a date.

Excellent as usual. My wife and I go here a few times a month and have never been disappointed. I still have yet to figure out why there is not a line out the door every night. Just a great restaurant for couples and groups. A+

Came here for a large dinner party and the staff was very friendly. I got the flounder and just know the proportions are very small so if you want a lot of food be cautious that some meals may be like this. I liked the intimate atmosphere of the place!

We had a group dinner here last weekend… BYOB is always a hit with the group so that was great. We had the calamari and it was just ok, nothing special. The spinach dip was yummy and homemade fried pita — wow, mind blown! Service was good but we weren’t in a hurry — for dinner I ordered the scallops which were delish but for $ 30 you get 3 small to medium sized scallops… without sounding like a fatty… I probably would have needed 1 — 2 more plates to be anywhere near full. My bf ordered the hanger steak and he enjoyed it but was still hungry. We shared several desserts at the table and they were ok. Our check for the two of us was about $ 130 with tax and tip but we ended up at Whataburger on our way home because the bf was still hungry. So all in all, the food is good but the portions are pretty small so you will either need to make this a 5 course night or plan a stop through your favorite 4th meal drive thru. Oh and for parking USETHE valet! Our friends that parked on the street a block or two down Taft had their car broken into so use the complimentary valet parking!

I’ve been to Lucio’s twice and it hasn’t disappointed. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere intimate. I had a delicious squash soup, the best kale salad I’ve ever had(not a bit bitter, and so soft!) and a filet mignon cooked to perfection. The desert was also good, though it was more of a flan than a crème brule. I will certainly return!

My husband and I celebrated 8 months of marriage tonight at Lucio’s. We first came to Lucio’s for last New Year’s Eve and had a spectacular experience, so we decided to go again for a special date night. We found free parking on the street behind the restaurant and were warmly welcomed by the host when we walked in. We brought 2 bottles of wine for dinner, and the wait staff promptly assisted us in un-corking the first bottle. Unfortunately, the cork was bad and the wine had spoiled, but the bus boys quickly removed the glasses of vinegary wine and a waiter opened our second bottle for us. Sean and Esteban were our main servers, and they were fantastic. They made great recommendations from the menu and paid attention to us without being suffocating. We started with the spinach dip; it was quite rich but extremely delicious. My husband had the hanger steak, which was incredibly seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the heirloom tomato salad, which was the best of its kind I’ve ever had, and the steamed clams, which satisfied my original craving for mussels. As he cleared our plates, Esteban set down two spoons for us. «You just ate my favorite starter [the clams] and my favorite entrée [the beef]; now it’s time for you to try my favorite dessert, on me. Happy 8 months.» He brought us the raisin croissant bread pudding, which honestly changed our lives, my gosh. It was fantastic. When the check came, we tried to use 2 OpenTable giftcards totaling $ 40 toward the bill. One of them was on a mobile device, which we found out was not ideal for the restaurant, but instead of telling us «there’s nothing we can do,» Sean figured out a solution that allowed us to use both giftcards. And, after already being extraordinarily helpful, Sean removed one of the $ 8 corkage fees to make up for the soured bottle of wine that we didn’t get to enjoy. We left Lucio’s on cloud 9 after such an exceptional evening of service and cuisine. We will be back for sure, and we hope Esteban and Sean are there to make it another extra-special dining experience!

While visiting Lucio’s for the second time, our party of 4 had a great time. The staff kindly allowed us to sit even though we were running 15 minutes behind and past their last sitting time. Lucio’s delivers every time. The ambiance is cozy and intimate, the food is awesome and the fact that you can bring your own wine is priceless. I recommend the calamari as a starter, the filet mignon as entrée and the crème brûlée as dessert. The wait staff remembered us and we were delighted. I highly recommend Lucio’s and hope that they continue having such a success!

Went to Lucio’s the other night and had a very nice experience. My date and I ordered the calamari to split which was good, nothing spectacular making me want to order it again. I got the ahi tuna entrée with wasabi mashed potatoes which was very good. I wish there was some sort of ginger aspect to this meal which is what I typically see when I order ahi tuna. I loved that this place was byob. Major pro to this place. Ambience was good and the wait staff was very attentive and helpful! I would definitely try the other items on the menu when I return.

There is no question in my mind, this is the best BYOB restaurant in Houston. In terms of food quality it can easily compete with the best upscaled Houston restaurants giving you a benefit of bring your own favorite wine without paying 100%-200% extra $, which is common in non-BYOB places(e.g. Papos Brothers stake house and likes). The service is good and corkage fees are reasonable. I had lamb chops tonight and I don’t remember last time when I had such good lamb… It’s a great place to celebrate your birthday or have a romantic dinner. My impression is that the food is getting tastier and tastier every time we come here. Highly recommend!

This place was awesome and the food was excellent! My husband and I had the rare opportunity to go out to dinner for my birthday(my mother was babysitting the 3 kids woohoo). My husband is a ‘foodie’ but left it up to me to find a place. I used Unilocal and put in my work zip code and Lucio’s kept popping up. I then realized it would be a GREAT idea to take our own bottle of wine(s)(why pay double/triple at a restaurant). I didn’t want a restaurant too fancy but I wanted some place with a nice ambiance and menu. I am SO glad we went here! Our server, Adoteh, was really great(yes he was so great I wrote his name down!). He was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He took his time explaining the dishes and answered our questions. We started out with the clams & chorizo. My husband makes some great clams so it is hard to find something to top it, but these were delicious! The chorizo really added a different flair and taste to the clams. We soaked up the rest of the sauce in the toasted bread. I don’t think we let anything go to waste. We then both ordered the lamb. O. M. G. One of the best lambs I’ve ever had. Not greasy at ALL, cooked to perfection and no gamey after taste. We also ordered the side of stacked potatoes and brussel sprouts. The wine we took was excellent with all of the food(it was a french red — can’t remember the name). Adoteh then brought out a vanilla bean panna cotta for my birthday with a candle on it(points to my husband for mentioning it to him haha). Melted in my mouth! Yum! We were so thrilled to have an excellent experience on our rare night out alone. My husband was so pleased that he said he felt like it was HIS birthday. We will definitely come back again. Adoteh convinced me to try the escargot next time(hey, you only live once!). It was so refreshing to have great service and excellent food. Thank you!

Wonderful overall experience. Great date night place, but we went w/a group for a friend’s bday. There were about 17 of us & they were very accommodating. The menu could be a little larger for my taste, maybe a couple pasta dishes more? But, my scallops were like«buttah’» & my hub’s filet, after sending it back due to overcooking, was then fixed & perfection. The roasted Brussel sprouts are fantastic. We also got to sample the desserts, to die for! & its byob, so bring ur fav’ vino & ur set!

Love this Little place! The food is great through and through. We ordered the heirloom salad and the tomatoes melted in my mouth! The burrata cheese must have been home made too. The same was for the hangar steak and chicken. Amazing quality food. It’s byob so bring your own bottle for an $ 8 corkage fee. Great place to catch up with friends or a date. :-) enjoy!

For my birthday this year, we opted for Lucio’s BYOB and Grill. It’s been bookmarked for years now, and I finally had an excuse to dine there. When we walked in, it was quiet. I mean, drop-your-fork-and-the-windows-shatter-quiet! The restaurant was empty. Now, before you think that we were eating at some unusual time, let me clarify for you; it was 8pm on a Thursday evening. Normal??? I thought so. We browsed the menu and began with a special tuna beef tar-tar. As soon as we put in our order, we saw a couple come with a bottle. They were seated; then, there was another and another! It was so nice to know that we weren’t the only ones eating on Thursday evening at Lucio’s! Our starter was fantastic. It was just the right amount and made us anticipate our entrees! We opted for the filet mignon and lamb chops(individually, of course). It really was wonderful. I didn’t like my husband’s lamb, but he liked it, so no complaints. My FM was fabulous. Melt in your mouth, fabulous. I feel my mouth watering as I write this! The accompanying asparagus and potatoes were just the right accouterments! We ended the night with the chocolate brownie with raspberry sorbet. What a lovely night, albeit with an awkward beginning.

This was a good, solid meal in a nice restaurant. Nothing spectacular or particularly surprising. I had the soup du jour(curried cauliflower) and scallops with risotto. Could have just been my fault in ordering, but I felt that both of these dishes were overly creamy. My stomach felt a little weird halfway through my entrée. I also don’t mind high prices for good food that’s worth it, but I felt that this place was way overpriced for what it was. About $ 30/entrée with nothing particularly innovative on the menu? I think the food was plated nicely, and this is a cute cozy spot(albeit a little dark in the corners– could use just a tad more warm lighting). I would just like to see more unexpected and new flavor combinations on the menu. With pass/provisions just next door, the bar is set high for any competition!

Lucio’s is everything a quiet(sorta) BYOB(if you’re so inclined) date night(or any night) spot should be. The venue is intimate, the service is personal and attentive, and the food is something to write home about. The clams & chorizo to start were beautifully prepared and the broth and roasted garlic bread… wow. They kept it rolling on the entrees — the duck breast was crispy and very well-seasoned and the scallop risotto was simple but elegant. Overall, we had a great experience and, although the menu seemed a bit pricier than it should be, the very reasonable corkage fees more than offset it. Definitely a place to try again.

This is still one of my favorite places to dine on birthdays, annies and other special nights. You got good food, service all in a quaint building — with a back patio. A few things have changed over the years, though. They now have a small wine menu(the vast majority of wines offered by the bottle only; a few by-the-glass options), so no need to BYOB and pay that higher-than-usual $ 8 cork fee. The dinner menu really hasn’t changed much since they opened in ’07, however the prices have gone up and the portions are much, much smaller than before. My faves are still the sesame crusted ahi tuna($ 29), scallops($ 30) and free range chicken($ 22). There are also a split salad and split entrée fees, $ 3 and $ 5 respectively.
