I really don’t know where to start with this. When I first went it didn’t seem bad. Jorge was pleasant & energetic. He definitely was trying to make a sale. Of course he played the game as if my satisfaction was all he wanted. After being there for an hour, I finally broke down & purchased the bed. I still had reservations, as it was more than I wanted to spend & b/c of what happened when I was in the store. Jorge was the only one there that had any experience. The other associate was brand new & didn’t know how to do much. Any time a customer came in, he was going over to take care of them & then coming back to me. I know it was b/c he wanted credit for the sale & was continue to work me. When I mentioned that I was on a budget he tried to make me feel bad, saying you can’t put a price on quality. Then he told me that the customer before me had left b/c she didn’t want to pay what they were asking. His words to her«It’s your loss.» I thought to myself, «Wow! That’s a rude thing to say.» He kept making it seem as if I was making it hard for him with comments like«Your killing me Smalls.» He definitely was put on the pressure as he kept asking«Is that the one? You keep going back to that one. Look I’ll give you a deal, and I could get in trouble for this, but I’ll throw in two pillows & take a hundred off the sales price.» I really had to be on my toes to make sure that what he said was what he was going to do. Of course the offer changed based on the mattress I showed interest in. At the end of the transaction he asked me to give him a review & I said yes, as I believe reviews are important. Well he helped me find where to give the review & put it at 5 stars. The other associate I mentioned earlier, who had nothing to do with my purchase, asked for me to give them a review as well so that she could get some kind of credit as she was new & needed the boost. Yet another example of how unprofessional this business is run. I left my review, got my receipt & was about to leave when I remember to make sure of when they were delivering the mattress. I had let him know that Saturday was best for me. It is a good thing I checked b/c he had set it up for the next day. After that I left still not feel 100% about my purchase or service. Well unfortunately I had an emergency come up & needed to cancel my order. I purchased the bed on Sunday December 13th& called Thursday morning December 17th to cancel. He said it was a shame b/c it was a good deal & then stated there might be a 20% cancellation fee. I was shocked & asked why. He stated it was on the receipt. It was never disclosed @ any point prior to the receipt being handed to me, not even after the receipt was handed to me, about a cancellation fee. I told him I had the receipt in front of me & saw where it was but that I had a emergency & needed all my $ back. He said he’d see if he could get it waived for me & I felt a bit of hope that he was a decent person & not just another salesman. He said he’d call me back with the answer. I waited till the afternoon to call when I didn’t hear anything. He said he hadn’t heard from his manager yet & would let me know when he did. I never heard back from him that day. I called Friday afternoon & he told me they were going to charge me. So either he never actually called, just pretending he did with no intention of waiving the fee, or just didn’t want to call me back hoping I’d go away. I raised my concern about needing all my $ back & that I hadn’t even gotten the bed delivered. He said he’d stop me there so he could call the warehouse to stop the mattress from being put on a truck. At this point I was so disappointed b/c I knew he was purposely dragging this out & didn’t care about me b/c he’d lost a sale. I waited for a callback confirming he had done what he said he was going to do & for an update on the cancellation fee. I knew I probably wasn’t going to hear anything but I held on to the hope I would. I get a call Saturday morning from someone with Mattress1One stating they would be at my place in about 25 mins. I let him know that I called two days in a row to make sure that order was cancelled. The man then asked, «So you aren’t getting the mattress?» and I told him that was correct. Needless to say I’m beyond irritated at this point & extremely disappointed. I am going to call this morning & I will write another review regarding that interaction. Never have had such a bad experience. So sad to think there are business like this out there. Be warned! Update: Called the store & s/w a gentleman by the name of James. He gave me the # to call & try to get the fee waived. I called the # & got Myra in the Customer Service Dept. She was able to help me get my full refund & didn’t give me the run around. I appreciate that side of this experience at least. Still won’t do business with Mattress1One ever again.
