I really had great expectations for this place. Unfortunately the experience was not that amazing. The stuffed salmon was dry and had hardly any stuffing. The food in general was cold and tasteless. I can prepare a better tasting meal than what I experienced in the restaurant. I’m not sure I would give it a second chance.

Came here for a holiday luncheon and was not impressed. Food was average, service was average.

The food here is awesome, but the service was just ok. They brought us brunch menu and offered no lunch menu. I literally had to beg for a lunch menu, as I was not a fan of any of the lunch sides. We were not welcomed upon arrival and waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine. 30 minutes for bread. Server did bring me a random bowl of soup to make up for the slow service. That was a nice touch. Again, food was awesome, service was just ok.

My boyfriend and I came here before he went to Argentina for ten weeks, and it wasn’t a great meal for me to say goodbye to him over. We each had two cocktails– I had lemon drops and he had mojitos. These were nice and strong, albeit mine were very sweet. Our server was nice, but the biggest disappointment was the food. I hate saying this, but some of what we ordered legitimately tasted like it had been frozen. I worked for a restaurant for two years, and I know when places are scared to do anything non-spec, meaning they have to stick to the corporate model. Our fried shrimp were good, but not fresh tasting. The ahi had a bit of a stake aftertaste, and the stuffed salmon seemed like it had been thawed. I really wanted to enjoy the food, yet I must say I was really disappointed. I’m compairing this place to Perry’s or Fleming’s, who seem like their most direct competitors. However, I feel like both of these places cook food to order and really emphasize good ingredients. I also would assume that their chefs have more liberty in the kitchen(something I personally believe is critical for a restaurant to excel).

Visited for the first time today. Overall good experience; unfortunately my requested cut of steak was unavailable. Service was on — point and very friendly.

High-dollar seafood, upscale feel. Not a super great craft beer selection, but still passable. Wait service was 5-star. I believe I had a redfish which was delicious. Portions were great — not over the top quantity, just right. I had a cheesecake for dessert and that was also excellent.

My husband brought me here for our anniversary dinner. Braving the residual rains of hurricane Patricia, I had high hopes that it would be worth the trip out. However, our experience was sub-par. First red flag was when it took at minimum 5 minutes to even be acknowledged after we were seated. Next up we ordered the crab queso. Lots of queso, not enough chips. We ran out of chips but still had at least half of our queso and the server didn’t offer any more chips. When our entrees arrived, the part of my salmon that was underneath its toppings was undercooked. And by undercooked I mean nearly raw. My husband had a steak that he ordered medium well. It was medium. Both of our dishes were replaced after waiting quite some time. Mine was cooked to perfection and quite tasty but my husband’s steak was completely well done. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and they also brought out a free chocolate lava cake because it’s our anniversary. It did take a long time for our dessert to arrive and the ice cream was halfway melted on both desserts(but I was really only concerned with the dessert we were paying for). All in all, there’s nothing that stood out to warrant a return visit. I expect much better from an «upscale» restaurant. And the big kicker for me is, how can a seafood restaurant undercook their fish? Don’t plan on returning.

Came here to celebrate life’s successes with friends. I had a ny strip with the white cheddar mash. It was on point no complaints… Oh try the queso appetizer you won’t be disappointed!

I have gone here 3 times so far and if I had written this review after my 2nd visit, this place would’ve gotten 4 stars from me. But that did not happen. 2nd visit was GREAT! Toya(I think that’s how you spell it) — lovely waitress, friendly, and was awesome! If you get her serving your table, you’re going to have a good time. Never asked for a refill because she was always a step ahead and read my mind. 5 stars for Toya!!! I came back for my 3rd trip hoping to see Toya make our dinner night enjoyable again. Unfortunately, she was not working that day and should’ve walked out when I still had the chance. I had the steak/lobster which was cooked exactly how I ordered it(medium-rare). The appetizers(fried mushrooms and lobster bites) were good as well. Not too salty and not too much fried batter either. The clam chowder was OK, not great. Avoid that. I have had better at cheaper food joints. My server, name starts with«M» and ends with was a sub-par male server. Not the kind of caliber for this establishment. Not much for conversation either. He was definitely very rushy when taking our orders that he almost walked off without completely finishing our full table of orders. I had to ask for my lemonade refill twice and yet never got it in the end. I had quit and wanted the bill to end the horrendous experience. I would have understood if it was busy at that time but the restaurant was not even half-full of patrons. If it wasn’t for meeting awesome servers like Toya at this place, I would’ve given this place 2 stars.

Never thought I would rate a chain as I can’t remember the last time we went to one… but in-laws took us here for a birthday dinner. It was seriously the best lobster I’ve ever had in my entire life!!! So incredibly tender and full of flavor, melts in your mouth like butter. It was soo amazing — I still dream about it! The other seafood was also incredible! Crab cakes, mussels … They sure know their seafood — and it is top notch skills. Portions are huge(I’d forgotten about chain portions!) and 3 courses will double you over and have you rolling out of the place, it’s pretty painful, so I would skip the apps and dessert next time and go straight for the lobster.

Title this review«Gone Downhill.» The menu was quite ordinary and the waiter offered no suggestions. There were no specials, nothing new. Even the salads looked uninteresting although they all seemed to sport«candied walnuts and blue cheese crumbles.» What’s with the blue cheese crumbles in every salad? Is this Red Lobster? Speaking of which, the lobster bisque was thick, floury and bland. I’ve made better myself and I don’t go to M&S to get MY cooking. Crab cakes were dry and barely warm. Stuffed flounder was tough as an old boot and dry. The stuffing, shrimp and crab, was hardly any of either, and tasteless. Even a shake of Tony Chachere’s would have improved it. It was like eating frozen food that had been warmed up. I have had infinitely better stuffed flounder at Goode Seafood Company. Gordon Ramsay would have sent it all back to the kitchen. Very disappointing night, embarrassing with friends; we didn’t bother looking at the dessert menu and skipped coffee, too. Sadly, McCormick and Schmick’s is trading on it’s name as the food, at least tonight, was barely ordinary.

Went here for dinner a few weeks ago and had the pleasure of being served by Rob. I have to say, hands down, that he is one of the best servers that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting in all my years of dining out. My husband and I were celebrating our the 20th anniversary of when we first met(okay, so it’s a little corny but that’s how we roll) and decided to meet at McCormick and Schmick’s for dinner. Rob seated us in a great spot and proceeded to completely wow us with his recommendations for wine, appetizers, entrees and the dessert. Everything he suggested was stellar but the best part was his positive attitude, attention to detail and follow-through. The food was stellar, as to be expected, but the service we got was what put it over the top. This was evident when, after we finished our meal, we left to pick our car up from the valet. Since the valet only took cash, we had to walk around the corner to an ATM. While we were at the ATM, we realized that we had forgotten our leftovers on the table and we just assumed that they were lost for good. Turns out, we were wrong. Rob saw that we had left our bag on the table. He went out to the valet, described us to the valet attendant and had the gentleman place our food in our vehicle. Imagine our surprise when we got back to pick up our vehicle and our forgotten food was already waiting for us. In fact, during later visits, Rob has remembered us and always has a friendly, welcoming personality. I strongly suggest that you try to find him the next time you visit McCormick and Schmick’s.

We just finished dinner there and while it started out promising, the night was ruined because of incompetent service and poor cooking techniques. 1. The beef carpaccio was good. Nothing excellent, but it was very good. However, we weren’t provided plates. 2. The lobster bisque was much too thick. There was too much fluor added to the dish, giving it a goopy and thick consistency. It threw off the flavor as well. We also weren’t provided spoons. 3. The malpeque oysters were great, but the ice had melted, so it seems like they were shucked and left on the counter too long. 4. My wife’s entrée comes out first. I figured mine was right behind, but apparently not. By the time I was able to flag down a waitress, my wife was almost done. 5. I flag down a waitress and was told the manager is making sure my dish comes out right away. This obviously means some one screwed up by either forgetting to enter the order, forgetting to make the dish, or another serve took my dish. 6. My entrée was brought out so late that my wife was already done with her dish.(We brought 2 kids so it’s not like she was going to wait.) There was no apology; the server acted like nothing was wrong. 7. On top of it all, the fish and chips that was brought out late was cooked poorly. It seemed like 2 pieces were stuck together in the fryer, and I ended up getting two undercooked pieces. So there you go, what could have been a nice dinner was ruined because of incompetence or inexperience all around. I should have known that quality is not so much a priority after Landry’s took over this chain. Never again. I’d avoid this place at all costs. There is no reason to go here. There are places with better seafood, better oysters, better steaks, and much better service.

I’ve only been for happy hour here. There are great choices for $ 4 or $ 5 for the happy hour menu, including steamed edamame, calamari friti, mussels, beef sliders, fish tacos and a few other items. I wish they offered some things that weren’t fried, for example the fish tacos. They are not grilled. I wish though, that they offered a regular hamburger like the Uptown location. You are forced to get cheese on these sliders and I like to cut out the cheese to reduce the fat. I also like my burgers with lettuce and tomato. I don’t understand why the happy hour menu differs from the other location. Drinks are reasonably priced. I wish they would reduce the price of the sangria during happy hour. Great place for Fall weather as outdoor seating is nice.

I usually don’t like go to a Landry’s chain because I’ve had tons of bad experience… but I thought I will give it another try. We went for happy hour and ordered all of the things we though we liked. They were all fried and greasy… That’s basically the happy hour menu. I thought I was going to die with all that grease. I had over 8 glasses of water just to wash it all down. This is the worst place/location for chain restaurants I’ve ever been to for happy hour and regular dinning. I know all McCormick & Schmick’s are different and have different menu, if you want happy hour go to the one in uptown it’s better service and food. The food was equally disappointing for lunch and dinner. Just stay away from this location and save your money.

I came to this location to meet a friend for lunch on a Friday. I used the valet parking, which was a little awkward and time consuming because there was only 1 person on duty. Seating was prompt(full disclosure, I have a Landry’s select card), ambience was fine, and service was friendly. This restaurant is typical of the energy corridor vibe, overpriced faux luxury in the middle of nowhere. There is a lot of traffic getting here from the loop, but if you happen to be here it makes a ton of sense. Both me and my friend got the Seared Ahi Tuna. The notion is that the dish is meant to be sushi level quality, with seered fish served with sushi rice and a sesame cucumber side. I found 1 – 2 pieces tasting very slightly off which is fine for cooked fish(which is what the rest of the menu has) but a no-no for raw fish. My solution was to drown them in soy sauce which worked fine. In the past I’ve gotten cooked fish dishes which were great, and I’ll stick to those moving forward. Specifically the mahi mahi is fantastic. After the tuna we both got coffees which were suitably strong, even my decaff tasted alright. Summary: Avoid the seered tuna, fish just isn’t sufficient quality. Rest of the seafood menu is great. Over-priced like everything else in this part of town. Competent execution with minor annoyances.

Sunday was my first visit to this McCormick & Schmick’s. I am a BIG fan of Sunday brunch, and to me, that means eggs and bloody marys. They did NOT disappoint! We sat at the bar, and Federico made us what was, quite literally, the best Bloody Mary I have had in this town. I think he said something about peaches, but I don’t wanna give away his secrets. Also, since this was my first visit to M&S for brunch, I asked him what he recommended I order. He told me that their eggs were always fluffy, and never dry. He was right! I got a build-your-own omelet, and the eggs were cooked perfectly! In summary, the brunch was a big hit! If nothing else, I’d come back time and time again for those Bloody Marys!

I really love coming to M&S’s for happy hour, it’s probably one of the best in houston tbh. The food selection isn’t HUUUUGE but the portions are. I’ve ordered a slew of things here, nothing that really stuck out more than the other items, but honestly, they were all yummy. If I don’t like something I would be more inclined to remember it just so I could write about it. But after tossing back a few of their cucumber gimlets(ultra refreshing) things just slip my mind. I’ve never been disappointed at this location, the service here is just outstanding, the ambience is great, and it’s also good for groups. It’s first come first serve self seating, but theres ample space here so seating isn’t usually a problem. They do validate parking here which is nice, so park in the garage and stop worrying about finding a parking spot alongside the restaurant.
