Super friendly cigar shop with a great selection of cigars for every palate. Even as an out-of-towner I felt welcome and was greeted as soon as I walked in. Further help in the walk-in humidor and friendly conversation make this experience well worth the stop. They had plenty of engaging conversation the lounge part of the store in comfortable chairs and a nice sized TV to keep you occupied if you not that social. Pay them a visit and enjoy a fine cigar and good company.

I have to say what a verity of cigars! Nice comfortable chairs. The person working I believe may be the owner was very nice helpful and went the extra mile to make sure we where taken care of. If you smoke this is the place to visit!

Recently I was in Houston for the first time. Whenever I’m in a new city I like to visit the local premium cigar shops. After a quick search, McCoy’s Fine Cigars came to the top of my list because it appeared they had the best selection and were closest to the area of Houston I was to be in. I made the short trip to McCoy’s, found the entrance, and walked right in(ignoring the unpleasant looks from the club bouncer next door). The foyer is a nice open space with tall ceilings, housing many accoutrements and cigarettes. There were a few regulars relaxing in chairs/couches with their attention to the television, enjoying their selected tobaccos. Continuing my glance around the room, I was greeted by Brad, the proprietor. He was very casual and laid-back, and let me know I could continue to the back half of the shop and into the large walk-in humidor room. I perused their selection and found it to be solid. They had a number of cigars I don’t usually see at home, as well as some that are staples in my ‘cigar diet.’ After looking through everything, I went back out into the foyer to inquire about a few cigars I didn’t see(OpusX & Anejo — which they didn’t currently have in stock) and Brad followed me back into the humidor room and spend about 15 minutes with me talking about various cigars and answering my questions. It was a very pleasant conversation. Knowing that I was going to purchase at least a dozen cigars, I asked him if he had any boxes I could ‘fill up.’ He pointed me to a selection of empty cigar boxes, which included not one but two Julius Cesar boxes! I love these boxes because not only is the cigar terrific; the box is wrapped in leather and looks really nice. So I chose the JC Robusto box, filled it with about a dozen cigars, and was all set. Overall, McCoy’s is a great cigar shop. Knowledgeable proprietor, good prices, good selection, and nice foyer. I also noticed they have lockers to rent(or maybe even buy?). Brad was a great help and a great guy. I recommend going to McCoy’s if you’re in the downtown Houston area.

I would go 3 and a half if I could. Decent little place to hit up on my lunch hour if I want to kill some time. Good selection, average prices. More than the internet and spec’s but a little cheaper than some of the other local shops. Service is nothing to write home about but rarely is in these places.

First of all, I don’t smoke cigars. But I do sometimes stop in at cigar stores to look for empty boxes(good for storage), take in the oddly pleasing smells, and chat with some very interesting people. And it’s usually worth the price of the limited secondhand smoke. In this case, the friendly owner(who moved here from Green Bay/Appleton many years ago) and I chatted about Midwest weather, food, and culture. He also sold me a great cigar box and left me with a good feeling of holiday cheer.

A great little cigar shop located downtown. The owners are great, and always up for some friendly banter. The selection is great, and the prices are reasonable. The hours can be a little sketchy, but they are open late on Fridays which is when I usually stop bye. And Mike keeps a box of Patel Sungrowns in the humi at all times for me!!!
