Melange Catering & Special Events

At our Houston Museum of Natural Science wedding several years ago, servers did not serve the champagne in time for guests to raise glasses during toast, they kept on bringing out food and drinks as toasts were going on and they WALKED IN FRONT of everybody during toasts instead of behind their kitchen privacy curtain. Our paid for and promised leftovers were also given away to a guest and not to us.
The meeting and planning stages went well with Dewayne Ross but the final result was extremely subpar.
While I didn’t notice during the reception, my beautiful bride and now wife saw everything and was very disappointed when she told me months afterwards.
Thankfully it didn’t ruin the night.

Harold set up an event for us not soon to be forgotten! Harold helped me tailor a menu so perfectly tailored to the Birthday girl it was amazing, the food was exciting, unique and most of all delicious. The staff was courteous and warm to all of our guests, they kept the small space tidy, and the food never seemed to diminish! I have had many guests beg for recipes for many of the items served, quoting it was it was the best they had ever had. At the end of the day if you want a fabulous event that people won’t soon forget, Mélange is your one stop shop! I will be a repeat customer for years to come!

Harold and the incredible staff at Mélange catered my last open house. My favorite thing was the Blackberry Jalapeño Cobbler! It’s incredible. The staff was courteous and we’re set up and ready to go when our guests arrived. This is the professionalism you can expect at every event! Thank you!

I have used Mélange on several occasions (open house, at organization meetings) and have had nothing short of exceptional service. They are always delicious and are so personable. I have met Harold a few times and he is always so helpful and a KT to be around. They are definitely my go-​to for amazing food!

I’ve been to a couple of events catered by Mélange, and their service has always been very good. The staff have been friendly and professional, and the food was excellent. I would recommend them to anyone seeking a caterer, from box-​lunch office meetings to your wedding!

As Mélange Catering is the only used bar provider for Magnolia Ballroom, we were forced to use them for our event there. We chose to not use them for catering our event as they were unwilling to work with us in presenting our special occasion. We even went to their tasting at the venue, and they offered thin, dry chicken, carrots and green beans (not even to Luby’s standards).
On the evening of the event, their bartenders were rude and one spent much of the evening either on phone calls or texting while waiting on our guests. Mélange even recommended we pre-​tip (which we did not, rather to wait until services were rendered) and they still had the audacity to put out an unsightly tip jar. THEN, as we had procured them to provide an open bar for 70 guests, they ran out of not one, but three liquors (vodka, whiskey and bourbon). They were under stocked, ill prepared, and totally unprofessional.
We recommend you avoid this company, even if it means not using such a wonderful place as the Magnolia Ballroom (until they come to their senses).
