Who would of thought a simple food such as peanut butter and jelly sandwich can be very delicious with the right ingredients and how it’s prepared? First I checked their website to see where they are at as they are good at updating their schedule where they should be so people can follow them accordingly. The order process is easy, you grab your brown bag clipboard and just check off the things you want and write your name and hand it back to them along with the payment. The price is very good as it’s easy to understand and everything is listed out in case of any allergies you may have since they have a variety of options on the ‘butter’ to make your sandwich. There’s also a few example sandwiches such as The Jakes that’s listed on the side of the truck in case if you get a bit indecisive on what to put on your PBJ. The wait time is relatively fast and they sure wrapped it up well. I took mine to go on a bike around Hermann Park and found a good spot to eat my sandwich and drink some water. It was simply one of the best PBJ I ever had. From my understanding is that they make their own spreads in their kitchen so it shouldn’t be any grocery store bought ingredients and you can certainly taste the difference. I really like their almond butter, it’s just so good! Also, put some banana slices into your sandwich, it just makes it taste it much, much better, and you get some potassium to your body as well. If you haven’t been to this food truck, you need to try it as least once because I feel like this is definitely an iconic Houston food truck.

The only reason I am giving 2 stars is because the employees are really nice. Two orders. Both wrong. Grill broken so bread mostly raw. This was for a birthday party so there was no charge. I have zero interest in seeking out this truck. Very disappointing.

Delicious, simple and fresh. I have celiac disease and this one of very few food trucks in Houston that I feel takes great care in providing safe, gluten free options. Very pleased with this adorable food truck!

I was excited to try this cute little food truck because I’d seen it many times driving down montrose and the thought of a specialty PB&J sandwich food truck sounded pretty nifty to me. I got a classic sized grilled sandwich with peanut butter, Nutella, and bananas on wheat bread. I wouldn’t say I was disappointed, because the sandwich was good.(I mean, can you really beat a yummy combination like that??) But to me, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. I felt like I could’ve put together the very same sandwich at home. I was hoping for something more impressive being that making sandwiches is their thing, but they didn’t deliver in the way I expected. Granted, I didn’t try any of their jams or the special combinations that they offered; maybe if I had I would’ve felt differently.

Pretty amazing PB&Js and I’m amazed that I pay for something I can make at home. Still, it’s so freakin’ good that my mouth waters just thinking about it. I really love their almond butter and strawberry jam with apples added. Get it toasted and it’s amazing!!!

I visited this awesome food truck at the Houston Food Truck festival. Although the weather was HORRIBLE the food was good. I ordered the peanut butter, pickle, and siracha sandwich and thought it was yummy and interesting to be savory but peanut buttery. Glad I have this one a try. For my second sandwich I got the Apple, almond butter and jelly sandwich that was super fantastic. I absolutely loved it and it felt healthy. Last to note, the staff was very friendly and gave great suggestions. Overall an impressive experience.

Best PBJ you will get if you do it right! I got wheat with peanut and almond butter. Strawberry jam with strawberries, and agave nectar! It was DOPE! I wish they grilled the middle piece but I it’s soooo good up in here!

Son ordered white bread/cashew butter/blueberry with apples. Super deelish! But the service could be a lot better. There was only one person ahead of us and it was a 20 min wait. Crazy considering this is raw food! very cute concept but a little pricey. Sandwich, chips, and banana $ 11 plus tip which I don’t get bc they’re serving from a truck? Wish I would’ve been asked to tip after the long wait. 7⁄21 Went for a 2nd time bc I was at the museum and my son really wanted a pbj. This time we received our order much faster. I had a sandwich too and it was very good. Thx for stepping it up! I’ll be back

This is probably one of my favorite food trucks anywhere and a reasonably healthy choice, as far as food trucks are concerned. Wheat bread, Almond butter, orange marmalade, dill pickles(yes, dill pickles, try it, they taste awesome) and the sweet and sour fuego sauce… and don’t forget to have your sandwich panini pressed. Delicious!!. Sandwiches are a very good size, cost is reasonable and the folks at MPBJ are very nice people. If they would only come near Uptown Park and my office more frequently, things would be perfect. Highly recommend it.

Love love love this place. Great idea and great execution. I have had a different combination of PB&J every time and have never been disappointed. I suggest starting off safe for your first time there and then expanding out into more exotic territory. I love something as simple as grape jam, fresh sliced strawberries, peanut butter, hunny all on toasted bread. so so so good. I tell everyone about it and I do not often do that kind of thing. It is a food truck so you have to live by those rules, but it is becoming common place around Houston(food trucks). I think this place works best as a food truck. Nice people, fun brand, and you even get a fun sticker with your order.

I would probably give this truck 4 or maybe even 5 stars, but the wait was sooooo long. I understand it was a festival and they were the only truck in this area, so I’m giving some leeway, but waiting 20plus minutes in the hot hot Houston sun for half a PBJ kinda ruined the experience some for me. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk sandwich: It was pretty darn delicious. The wheat bread(toasted) tasted fresh and delicious. I got almond butter, fresh strawberries, and Nutella. The ingredients worked well together and produced a tasty, sweet treat. It was only $ 3, so a decent price for a food truck. I liked the«which wich» style order on the bag process. They had some suggested combinations, that they put out after I ordered(some quite odd that I may have to try some time) and a specialty mango pineapple jam today(which I also didn’t hear about until after I ordered.) Overall: good quality PBJ, quality ingredients, hopefully I just caught an off day on the wait time. I would try again and maybe some of the weirder combos(pickles anyone?)

+ You place your order on a paper bag and then your sandwich is placed in the bag — super efficient. + You have choice between 3 sizes — junior, classic, and extra monster. + You also have many different topping choices, not just peanut butter and jelly. I went with the classic sized sandwich and got almond butter, strawberry jam, sliced bananas, and nutella. This is entirely my fault, but it was way too sweet for me. Even the classic size is way bigger than your typical slices of bread, so I would maybe suggest starting out with the junior. — Service was pretty slow. I hate to say anything negative, but others have said the same. Maybe five people were waiting ahead of me and it took 15 – 20 minutes for my order. Kinda seems long for a few ingredients on two slices of bread. — Sandwiches are floppy and heavy and wants to fall apart if you don’t get it toasted, so I would recommend that. All in all, pretty good food truck. The prices are great — $ 3 for the junior, $ 5 for the classic, and $ 7 for the monster. Just don’t get too carried away with toppings or you may be disappointed. Next time I will get a junior with less stuff on it :)

This is by far my favorite food truck in Houston! Not sure why it has taken me so long to sit down and actually write a review lol I love their gluten free bread it is so yummy! And when you have them toast it, it tastes absolutely perfect! My favorite sandwich here is gluten free bread with peanut butter and blueberry jelly toasted!!! It is absolutely my favorite comfort food on earth! !!! I promise you I eat it at least once a week. The guys running the truck are awesome! They seem to have a smile on their faces whether it’s 20 degrees outside raining or hot like the Texas Sun :) The truck is also available for parties. Definitely something to consider for a child’s birthday party or perhaps even my own teeheehee

So I tried to find this food truck for a week almost, giving it 15 minutes a day looking up on there site, calling them, and trying to find where they were that day. Their hours on their website are not always accurate, I would read a time they would be somewhere till, I’d drive all the way there, no where in sight… so I called and they said they left early, that happened to me TWICE believe it or not. So CALL if your trying to find this food truck and ask how long their going to be there for. I’m not sure what I was expecting for a PBJ food truck, but Unilocal was the only reason, besides the great reviews that I really wanted to try it… I was so excited the other day when I actually found it, that was my last attempt too, I was going to give up the 4th time… . Ordered a Monster PBJ(Gluten-Free) Peanut, Bananas, Apples Grilled PBJ. My wife had a classic PBJ, Peanut, Grape, Apples Grilled. The two guys in the truck really didn’t say hi or anything, kind of said what you want, and kind of looked upset that we actually gave them business. I was SUPEREXCITED for this bagged delight to arrive in my hands, as well as my Mexico Coke which is not the real one as this one has High Fructose Corn Syrup, which the Mexican ones do not, I’m allergic so had to experience that from my stomach telling me somethings wrong. I’ve never seen a glass bottled Coke with HFCS before. was a first. We open them up, they look grilled, and super delicious. First bite… both of ours were almost FROZENCOLD, now I’m not sure what I was expecting, possibly a grilled cheese type of heat, but these PBJ’s, even if they are so called«grilled» are not warm/hot by any means. Mine was not in the slightest to me good what so ever. I felt like BLAH after I waited a week to dive in to this PBJ truck. I almost went back and asked for a re-grill, but nah. My wife’s classic PBJ however was a 3 star PBJ, it was good, peanut, grape, I could have ate that and been happy. But still I could make a 10 times better PBJ at home… I just thought Monster PBJ had an X factor or something… but yeah that’s my Monster PBJ food truck experience. I would have gave it 1 star, but for Gluten-Free Friendly Bread I went with 2.

This place is awesome! I stopped here for lunch while they were parked by the Menil Collection. I ordered a double-decker PB&J. I got half peanut butter and half cashew butter, and blueberry jelly. At first I thought $ 7 was a lot for a PB&J(the single layer size was $ 5). Then I saw the sandwich. It was huge. I’m a big guy and I could not even finish it. The GF couldn’t even finish the smaller one. They have a lot of different options for the sandwich, you can have it toasted, with Nutella, with various banana or strawberry slices… The possibilities seem endless. Either way, the sandwiches are great, they guys are friendly, and I will definitely be back!

I have been coming to Monster PBJ for quite some time now. It really never does disappoint! I usually catch them on the weekends at the Menil Collection. you cant miss the bright colored truck! Menu is quite simple! Choose your bread: white, wheat, gluten free Choose your nut spread: Peanut, Almond, or Cashew Choose your jam: grape, strawberry, or blueberry Choose a fruit: sliced banana or sliced apple Add a sweetener: honey, nutella, or agave nectar Grilled? Yes or no How do you want this cut? Bam. Thats it! I like to order two juniors(which is one slice of bread cut in half) so I can do two different sandwiches. I have yet to ever get sweetener, with the jam and fruit thats all the sweetness it needs! I also just had the zibble vegan cupcakes for the first time which they regularly have. They were so good! Monster PBJ is one of my fave Houston food trucks. The guys are always so nice and friendly too! Highly recommend it.

I’m not sure if it’s cause I had the mentally going in but … it’s a PBJ sandwich. You chose the size, type of butter, type of jam, type of fruit/topping, and trype of sweetner and whether you want it grilled or not. We got the PB, blueberry jam, bananas with honey, then grilled. A little safe, but putting almond butter or agave sweetner isn’t necessary wild. It was good, but I guess it was my mentally of seeing a PBJ sandwich as boring and not something I’m excited to get out of a food truck.

first of all, let start by saying some people are so f’n stupid so there now that i got that off my chest… Monster PBJ totally rocks out hard!!! The ingredients are fresh and local plus they make their own nut butters which is such an awakening from that processed, store bought crap. Jake is awesome, witty, personable and very funny so you’ve got to chat it up with him. I have tried both the almond and cashew butters and still have yet to try the peanut; I can’t help it the ALMOND blows my mind away. Also I always ask for my sammy EXTRA grilled, and they do it perfectly for me every time. Who would’ve thought that PBJ could be EVEN better(out of this world better) than the stuff you make at home.(Jake, you told me I could never replicate it at home; I admit I tried and failed! LOL) If it takes a little time, you have to be patient and realize that there isn’t an assembly line of the grilling machines; and you definitely CANNOT have your sandwich ungrilled so try it out NOW. Plus I am proud to support Monster PBJ& show my purple love on my care window, too! Find them now; most of the times you can find the at the Menil Collection on Sat. Oh and hey guys, I got my leasing agent here at the lofts hooked after I bought him one, too!!!
