I was excited to try this place because so many of my friends speak highly of the food. I must say that definitely was not the case upon my visit on 1÷25÷2016. First impressions are everything but I think it’s clear the fat guy wearing a green shirt doesn’t understand that. When I asked, what would pair best with the the duck dog? He then replied: well most people usually look at this list down here(pointing to the topping) and choose what they want. I then asked: Do you all have Chefs choice? He then replied: yeah. This guy Cleary hates his job and doesn’t care about the company he works for. So, after buying 3 different hot dogs and a burger. Spending almost about $ 40.00. I figured shit this better be good food. Well once we receive are food after 25mins I was once again let down. The 3 different dogs I ordered to have chef choice toppings had the same toppings all the way across. The only saving grace on this night at the moon tower inn, was the potato salad.

One of our newer favorite spots. I have been now 4 or 5 times. Let’s start off with the ambience and aesthetic; Don’t come here for a temperature controlled snooty cocktail bar. It’s 95% outdoors with some covered seating. Come here if you want to sit around a fire pit sipping some fine craft beer. Bartenders will help you decide and they may seem impatience BUT that’s part of the vibe. If it’s a slow day it’s really easy to spark up a convo with the bartender. Lets finish with, shockingly the best part, FOOD! I’ve only had hot dogs before so I can’t speak for the burgers. I’ve had elk(my favorite), boar, and duck. They were all tasty and the pretzel bun, and obscure toppings really set it off. Also the bacon cherry tomatoes are a tasty rip off(too price for such a small portion). Overall it’s a super cool beer garden to chill at on an empty stomach.

howl at the mooooon tooooower wednesday burger night! two for one, and three beers later I’m communing with the wolves. This place staked out the eastside long ago and has been a favorite of mine in the winter months. It’s the gingerman on morningside meets the west alabama ice, which just came to mind and may be a bit local for some; find your local brews at moontower brewpub
