Great service and food! I have eaten here a few times and each time, they’re really nice and personable. They don’t make your food until you order it. So it does take a bit of time to get your food but it’s never too long. You can call ahead to place your order for pick up which is convenient!
It isn’t that fancy — it’s a pretty simple place located on a strip mall. So don’t expect anything too fancy, just good customer service and food.

Weird place. The interior is an old restaurant and it’s located in a run town strip mall. Based on all the reviews I ordered the Cheese Steak hoagie, it was pretty good but not great. There was way to much cheese, there was actually more cheese than steak. Also the bun wasn’t good, it was just a large hot dog bun.
Overall good, but definitely not the 4 ½ stars that it showed.

Love love love the sandwiches. Lu, the owner is a great guy, always friendly and remembers the regulars orders… For being in Houston the pizza is above avg, being a Yankee I can say that…

We’ve been eating here since the ’80’s great food and wonderful people. Now my children love it too. So glad they have stuck around.

Lived down the street for a long time and always passed this place up… The cheese steak with mushrooms was delicious… From tenderness to flavor to melt in your mouth, it had it all… Their pizzas take about half an hour but are also worth the wait… I give it 5 stars

I came here strictly based upon the Unilocal reviews. If it wasn’t for those, I would have never walked through the doors. Allow me to say thanks to all of those who previously reviewed this place. The Philly Cheesesteak is very good and very hot. When they served it, I burned the roof of my mouth. The taste is very good. They offer grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato on it as well. With chips and drink, it was about $ 6.50.
They do deliver in the immediate area of you are serving several people. My one and only complaint is this… THEY CHARGE 25¢ FOR REFILLS. SERIOUSLY??? I know it’s only a quarter, but it’s aggravating. However, I’ll admit that I’ll come back, I’ll just drink really, really slowly.
I think many locals may be missing out on a little hidden gem. Try it.

We were in the area and wanted to grab a quick lunch. a sandwich or sub. After a quick Unilocal search we decided on Mr hogie and he’s 4.95 subs. you cant beat the deal.
Option: the food two sub, one Philly with peppers and extra cheese. slightly smaller that a regular sub but a little longer than subways half sub. Id say about 10in. Same for the Italian my daughter ordered. Both sub were very generous with the meat. The steak was tender philly style seasoned well with grilled onions and added jalapenos. I opted out the lettuce and tomatos my daughter loved her Italian meat sub and the rolls were fresh. All totaled solid sandwiches. And coupled with their on going promotion of bogo half off the total for lunch was 13dollar and some change with the addition of two bottles of soda.
This place is now officially on my quick eat list.

In the mood for a solid sandwich? Look no further. These guys will treat you right, locally owned with a great lunch special.

Great place, staff is very friendly, dining area is very clean, awesome menu selection for hoagies (and there is more chopped steak hoagies, pizza…), and has excellent prices!!! Will be back and pass this place along to friends :0)

I have been going to this hidden gem for years. Mr. Hoagies has the most unique cheese steak hoagies in town. The meat is tenderized before it’s cooked, this created a really good texture for the cheese to flow through. The price is right and the food is great. I would recommend this as a must go to lunch place.
For what my review is worth — 4 stars for Lunch…

I was driving down 1960 between Kuykendahl and 45 and noticed a big banner from this restaurant indicating a daily special for $ 4.95. I checked out Unilocal,and it had an average of about four and half stars.
I hereby confirm this rating. There is no fancy décor but simply it looked like a sandwich shop with an overhead menu and you ordered at the front. All of the hoagies on the menu were $ 4.95. I asked the employee /​owner what he would recommend, and he indicated that the Philly cheese steak was the most popular. I took him on the advice and ordered the daily special which included the choice of any hoagie with chips and a drink for the same price as the sandwich itself. (Wow). Based upon the price, I expected to receive a few meager pieces of shaved meat and cheese stuck in a small hoagie bun. Instead, I received a hoagie of about 6 to 7 inches with fresh bread and a good portion of meat (similar to a double meat steak offered by a national sub chain). The sub was made fresh is I heard the clanking of kitchen tools against the flat grill presumably cutting the meat as it was being cooked. While I ordered the cheese steak as advertised with oregano and vinegar and oil on top of the onion and pepper, it may not be desirable for someone who wants it more traditional. I thought my sandwich was delicious as made
As a result, I ordered two more hoagies to go under their other special which was buy one hoagie get one half price. What a bargain.
If anyone is in the area and wants an inexpensive lunch or dinner, I highly recommend this place. This place is truly a gem.

Love the hoagies here! I’ve tried the Italian and about to try the Philly cheesesteak. They remind me of a Lenny’s style sandwiches but so much better than them and not to mention they are so affordable, either buy one and get one ½ off or 4.95 for a meal chips and drinks

Mr. Hoagies is absolute perfection! They have become a weekly guilty pleasure. They deliver and always get the orders right.

I got the Chees steak with mushrooms. Very similar to Rockies on Greens road though I think may taste slightly better, bigger and unbelievably about $ 2 cheaper! I got the cheese steak sandwich with mushrooms (extra), chips and a drink and it was $ 5.90
Genno’s inside the loop may be bettet but it costs twice as much.
Would definately come back if in the area.

Love this place! Super inexpensive and delicious! Chicken cheese steaks, Italian hoagie & their fries are my favorite! And the hoagies are always BOGO 50%. Hoagies are $ 4.95, fries $ 1.75 and soda $ 1.55.

Hot and fresh! I got the mushroom cheese steak and my boyfriend the ½ lb cheese burger hoagie. First off– buy one hoagie and get the second half off. With drinks and chips we came out to less than $ 13. That was one burger fry and drink at five guys and this is so much better!!! Super juicy and seasoned just right with salt and pepper. Friendly owners even came and checked on it all. Even the bread was very soft and fresh. Nice work and great price too.

I came here finally after wanting to try it for about a year now.
When we walked in, I think we were the first customers because the lights were still off. We walked up to the counter and ordered the jalapeño cheesesteak with provolone instead of white american and an italian sandwich.
Cheesesteak — good juicy cheesesteak, soft roll, with added tomato, lettuce, herbs added on top which was a little different than im used to.
Italian — a good sandwich with quality meats on it, soft roll, my friend liked it.
I saw a Boars-​head Deli Meats mug by the soda fountains and think they may use boarshead lunch meats. Overall price was excellent, service was great too. This is obviously a family-​owned establishment. I’d come back if I was craving hoagies and I’m in the area. The total was only $ 11 and change with 2 hoagies and 2drinks so Im pretty sure he undercharged me.

Good Service, Good Subs. I ordered for us both two steak and cheese subs and fries… The subs were good, but not like home (DC) and I could have made better fries at home!
Would I go back, maybe, maybe not.
