This is probably the worst Chinese restaurant I’ve ever gone to. My boyfriend and I stopped in for a late lunch and I soon as walked in I wanted to leave. The first thing I noticed was that there was a Christmas tree its almost September. The food was awful I’ve never had a bad egg roll in a Chinese place. Don’t waste your money this place is not worth it the only thing going for it was the service.

We order from this place quite regularly, and for the second time they have ruined my food. I asked for Mongolian beef with no spice, instead I get boiled beef with NO sauce what so ever that is completely inedible. I get no sauce for my egg rolls, and the wonton soup was extremely salty. I don’t know anyone who wants grease boiled beef, it made me vomit. I will not order from here again, I gave them a second chance and twice they have burned me.

Good place for a quick eat, take out or delivery. String beans and fish eggplants are delicious and must try. Service is fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick weekday break from cooking.

I used to love O’yeah, and by used, I meant I’e gone twice lol. The first time, their steamed dumplings were lovely, but their beef noodle soup was okay. Today a coworker and I ordered lunch from them. much to our dismay the food was lame… As in. the dumplings. I love dumplings. I know dumplings. I am a dumpling. These dumplings made me sad. The pan-fried ones were nice, a little stiff(overcooked) but had a nice crunch, however, the meat inside needed seasoning. It needed some sesame oil or something to give it some oomf. In addition, the saddest part was my wonton soup. The soup was so oily, my lips were shimmering from it. Super oily!!! The wontons inside were unpleasant… they used this thick skin. like really thick, and the filling was very small, and had a weird crunch to it like way too much tendon and not enough meat. The combination of oily, bland broth with thick, doughy sad filled wontons, made this soup a downer. It’s currently sitting next to me, sad and unfinished because I refuse to finish it. As for my friend’s fried rice, it was oily, bland, and the chili oil given was like chili paste that got mixed with oil. it looked like u put ranchero sauce in oil. I really thought this place was okay… but after this meal… we won’t be coming back :( Update: They’re closed? To be honest, I’m not surprised and kind of glad that awful blasphemy of take-out Chinese food is gone. Seriously… you cross a line when you serve me bad dumplings/bad wonton soup. Blech!

I must have caught them on a good day or something. The timing I came in here couldn’t have been any better because 4pm is in between the lunch/dinner rush and practically had the whole restaurant to myself. This place used to be a General Joe’s a couple of decades ago and now I return. I read the reviews but was skeptical but pressed for time as well. The waitress was very friendly, a consistency in most of the reviews. I ordered the Szechwan Tofu, it was something I did not expect. Szechwan is a food that is famous in the Sichuan province in China that liberally uses garlic and chili peppers and boy did they not spare the peppers. If you are not careful the spiciness could creep up on you even if you love spicy food. It was so good I wanted to order a 2nd round. Also presented in front of me was the General Tso’s chicken. When placed beside my dish of Szechwan Tofu I preferred the look and presentation of that chicken but after a few bites it was determined that looks were deceiving. The dish was good but not as good and addictive was the Tofu. Parking was a cinch since nobody eats at restaurants at 4 in the evening but is very small and limited during meal rushes I am very sure. It was that way twenty years ago and I’m sure it hasn’t changed. Prices are pretty decent for the area Funny name for a restaurant though don’t you think?

This place is great for takeout for sure. I’ve never dined in, but they are definitely good for in-house pickup. I like the traditional dishes — eggplant, green beans, etc. The lunch menu is a great deal. Cons: –Sizing — the portions have gotten smaller over the years –Ingredients — a lot of the ingredients have gotten replaced. E.g. the eggplant dish is traditionally cooked with ground pork, but they use chicken instead, and it changes the taste of the meal. Bottom line — don’t expect too much, but if you’re in need of a Chinese food pick-me-up, this is a nice option.

It’s true, they’ve changed ownership in the time that I’ve eaten here(ordering for delivery), but I think if you stick to ordering certain dishes, you really can’t go wrong. Take this with a grain of salt, as I exclusively order from the traditional menu. To order for delivery — and I’m sure it’s even more fantastic piping hot out of the kitchen: 2.5÷5: #13 Kung Pao Diced Chicken: Of all the dishes I’ve sampled, this one is one of the only subpar ones. It honestly tastes like something Panda would offer. The sauce was laid on way too thick and the veggies were bland. 4⁄5: #14 Chunk of Chicken Stir Fried with Dry Red Chili: The flavor is fantastic, to say the least. It really feels like the flavor of the pepper has been incorporated into the chicken. Downside? The portion of chicken vs. bone could be much, much better. 4⁄5: #18 Double Cooked Porked: Another staple of Chinese cuisine. I enjoy the way they do it, with an abundance of veggies(leeks, scallions, peppers), but the pork is not the most savory it could possibly be(good twice-cooked pork is made super-soft by steaming), but this is a great stir-fried option. 5⁄5: #34 Chinese Eggplant in Clay Hot-Pot: I’ve ordered this about 5 times. Each time, just as good as the last. Reliable, well seasoned, and reminds me of certain eggplant dishes my parents make. 4⁄5: #38 Dry Stir Fry String Bean: I prefer my string beans stir-fried. Your mileage may vary. When done right, the caramelized garlic flavor sinks into the dish, and you get slightly crispy, salty, and sweet tastes in the green bean. Of the dozen or so times I’ve ordered this, they have only been poorly done once or twice. When they are done well, quite similar to home-cooked stir fry string beans. 4⁄5: #45 Szechuan Style Bean Curd(with Minced Beef): Don’t remember too much about this one, except that it was satisfactory. I have a pretty high standard for Asian dishes that my parents make frequently, so this is a good option if you like Bean Curd(and if you’re vegetarian there’s an option without the beef). 4.5÷5: #47 Boiled Sliced Fish in Spicy Chili Sauce: Warning — this is quite spicy. But the great thing about any decent Sichuan cuisine is that the spicy is a flavorful one, not the eye-watering stuff of habanero peppers. It’s a staple of Sichuan food and a dish that I compare amongst all similar restaurants. This is on par with other traditional places. There you have it, 6⁄7 dishes offered here that are reliable and taste authentic. Save yourself the trouble if you’re concerned about taste.

The is the worst Chinese food I have ever order. The beef Lo mein was disgusting. The noodles they used in the dish were the kind used for fettuccine. We also ordered Hunan beef and meat was terrible. I will never order from here again.

I’ve been a loyal customers to this place. They used to be good. But recently I found a dramatically decline in their food quality and quantity. The decreasing quantity of a single course doesn’t really bother me, since my GF and I usually can’t finish the 2 whole course at one time. But today, what made me here is the unforgivable food quality. Last friday I ordered a deliver dinner with 2 courses. When arrived, I didn’t open the food package immediately. Just signed the bill and let that guy go. But 10 mins later, when I open the plastic bow contained pork, I smelled a funky taste and found the spoiling pork. Called them, surprisingly they didn’t ask any questions but says they will send in another replacement(which made me even thinking they know the food is bad). All right, then I let them did the delivery again. Guess what, the replacement is spoiled too. I lost my patience. Threw all their foods and had something else outside. Thanks O’yeah Café. Totally ruined me and my gf’s mood. Would never order from you guys agin. 2 Star since you guys WAS good. Also noticed your website is not there anymore. Anything bad happened? Change of owner? Whatever, not my concerns any more

It’s alright. Service is great but consistency below average. Shrimp with garlic sauce was spicy and decent. Wonton soup below average. Can find better in the Houston area.

The short of it: Quality and consistency issues make this a hit or miss experience. And it’s becoming more of a miss than a hit. The long of it: I am sad to say that the food quality and delivery speed has severely fallen over the past month or so. My last order was delivered on time but was cold. Like colder than the outside temperature cold. The house fried rice was spoiled … I mean inedible and smelled odd. The General Tso’s was nothing like any I’ve had before. It was watery, overcooked and cold. And the salted green beans were wilted with an odd after taste. An earlier delivery was promised in 45 minutes. After 60 minutes passed I called and asked what was up. I was told they were backed up and that the driver was almost to my door. After 90 minutes I called and told them not to deliver because we ate something else. Moments later the driver called that he was outside. The food not the exact order I requested but was good reheated the next day. Quality and consistency issues make this a hit or miss experience. And it’s becoming more of a miss than a hit.

DISGUSTING! After a long holiday weekend my Husband and I decide to order take out from Oh Yeah Café– a place we had never tried before. Never again will we order anything from this Chinese restaurant. When I opened my human beef I immediately found a long THICK black hair, which made me lose my appetite instantly(pretty hard to do considering I’m pregnant) I then opened my fried rice and found a strange shaped noodle… My husband pulled it out with his fork and cleaned it off to find that it was a RUBBERBAND! Not only Could I have gotten sick but that is a foreign object going to my baby as well! We called them to let them know about everything and they did NOTHING! No mgr was«available» and they would not credit our account! I took a picture to post for ppl to see that this place is a health hazard! Never again! — the disgusted parent to be

If you’re in need of enormous portions of greasy Americanized Chinese food for cheap prices, you’ll find your Zen at O’Yeah Café. Gorge on the soy-salty classics until your heart is content, but plan to make a second trip and ask for the«traditional» menu. It’s a decent list of authentically prepared dishes. I haven’t tried the dumplings yet, but I observed the cook making them by hand on one visit, so I’m betting they’re tasty too.

I truly believe that this is the most authentic, cleanest, well-priced Chinese restaurant in the area. I like that they have 2 menus that are obviously geared for 2 client populations. My go to dishes are on the traditional menu– the string beans and the eggplant. My non-Chinese husband likes the General Tso’s chicken. We’re not very adventurous when it comes to Chinese food. I’ve never had my food delivered, which from other reviewers’ comments seem like a problem. We usually call in the order and pick it up, and we’ve never had an issue with waiting too long or food being cold when we get there. Don’t expect any warm hospitality or over the top service. This is just a casual Chinese restaurant that serves reliably good Chinese dishes.

This Chinese restaurant is in my bucket restaurants list to try. Checked their website and found two different menu, one is Americanized and one is traditional Chinese. I ordered from the traditional menu: diced chicken with hot peppers and braised eggplants in clay pot for the adults and chicken crispy chow mien for young ones. Both dishes were pretty decent taste but oily. Crispy chow mien was not what I expected. I thought it should be the saucy sauce pour on top of «crispy thin noddles» like we ordered in Chinatown. However, what we have in the take out bag was like a small bag of «fried snack» with a container of chicken chow mien sauce. I wondered where is the crispy noddles? My daughter didn’t want to taste it as she is unfamiliar with crispy chow mien without the mien! This is a great option to have Chinese food without traveling to Chinatown. Bummer, I can’t seem to find decent Chinese food inside the loop:(

3.5 stars is what I really want to give here! My cousin told me about this spot so my friend Ingrid and I went in for lunch. There are«2» menus — the standard Ameri-Asian(General Tso’s chicken, etc) and a more traditional style menu. You can get both, which I did to see what was available. There is a lunch menu(Ameri-Asian menu only) — mostly standard items — orange chicken, mongolian beef, etc. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and Broccoli(spicy please) with veggie eggrolls, white rice and wonton soup. Ingrid ordered the mongolian beef with eggroll, noodles and wonton soup. The portions were good and they did a good job of making the shrimp and broccoli spicy! And it tasted good — there was an overwhelming amound of broccoli compared to shrimp but that was expected. The veggie eggrolls were good too — not too greasy. Overall, it was a nice meal. My friend Ingrid said hers was good too! The servers were very nice and polite. I def want to go back to try the more traditional menu items.

I just went to lunch here yesterday and the Singapore Chicken was really great. The lunch specials are anywhere between $ 6-$ 8. However, in previous experiences, the food has been so-so. In a pinch, this is a great option for a lunch in the Greenway/Upper Kirby area. The décor is nothing to rave about but, they’ve added a water feature in the back of the restaurant used to be the register area when this was Gen. Joe’s Chopstix. With this said, this is definitely a «to-go» «go-to» — Did you see what I did there? LOL
