Great bbq! If anyone ever goes to Houston, have time at the airport, this is the place to eat! Remember E Terminal. Houston airport is huge. so ready to walk a lot. For Pappa bbq you can walk! Everything’s big in Texas, even bbq!

5 star airplane food right here. I have yet to really find better quality food at an airport than maybe Rick Bayless’ place in O’Hare or maybe Wolfgang Puck Express. Anyway, they have poboys and sandwich buns that you can get with either smoked beef, turkey, or pulled pork. I got a half beef, half turkey sandwich and it was great. The turkey was moist and very smokey with a lot of flavor. The beef was very tender but a little too fatty for me, but still good. I came back a few hours later to get one for my next flight since it was so good… this time I went all-turkey. Throw some coleslaw and BBQ sauce on there with a side of beans = heaven.

What a great representation of Texas BBQ for everyone who passes through IAH! On the scale of airport food, Pappas BBQ is definitely as good as it gets! I’m addicted to their baked potatoes with chopped brisket(they’re my favorite bbq potato EVER!) The fact that I can get them when passing through the Houston airport makes a stop in Houston totally worth it! I’ll take the airport train way out of the way, regardless of the terminal I fly in or out of, to stop by this BBQ place. Another thing I appreciate is that their prices aren’t exorbitantly inflated, as with most airport food. The prices aren’t much different than outside the airport. You can get delicious food for the same price — or less! — than other tasteless, boring airport food.

The power of Unilocal’s iPhone app led me to Pappas BBQ tonight! I’m landing at Houston’s George Bush International Airport and you know what happens. Within 10 seconds of the nose touching down on the tarmac, everyone on-board quick-draws their cellphone to tell their loved ones they’ve arrived. I go one step further by doing a Unilocal search for nearby restaurants and voilà! There’s Pappas BBQ with 4-plus stars! A quick read shows BBQ beef brisket, Terminal E and that was good enough for me. My connecting flight was also Terminal E so obviously the food gods had aligned the planets for barbecue tonight! Running through the terminal I find Pappas tucked away in the back of the food court and order a beef BBQ sandwich and side of macaroni and cheese. Hoofing it to my gate, I’m finally on-board and ready to eat. The barbecue sandwich was a substantial amount of smoked, chopped beef basted in a rich sauce on a plain white hamburger bun. Wonderfully, delicious meat: tender, smoky and juicy with just the right amount of fat and sauce. I wolfed it down with no shame in minutes, oblivious to the horrified stares of my aisle-mates. Please keep your hands away from the animals during feeding time! The mac n cheese had to wait until I found a fork but it was a nice sized container of cheddary shells, yum! All I can say is if you’re in the airport’s Terminal E and end up with some McDonald’s or Panda Express, shame on you! Pappas dishes out some delicious local cue on the cheap and you ought to take full advantage of their food unless you’re a vegetarian. Trust me, the food is way better than most airport options. And a quick thanks to you traveling Unilocalers for pointing this place out to me, gracias!

Airport food for real’s??? Yes this review is on airport food and I was quite amazed at the quality and taste of this BBQ. I stuck with the basic BBQ beef sandwich. I was in-between flights at Huston international airport wanting a quick bite to eat. The beef was very tender and the sauce had just the right amount of kick to it. The bread was soft and that made for a perfect BBQ beef sandwich. The fries were even good cant take away any stars. I did notice the lady in front of me wasn’t happy with the shredded beef and wanted sliced beef on her sandwich and they said no problem and sliced her some fresh beef for her sandwich. So the customer service is good too. Great food, good customer service and quick service equal 5 stars in my book.

Ok the 4 stars are based on AIRPORT food. On the corner of the E terminal where you do have a very good selection of airport food places to choose from. I decided to try a BBQ burrito. Brisket with BBQ beans wrapped in a tortilla. Cost was I think like 7 and change. They have beer as well. Decent price for the typical over priced airport sh**. The meat was damn good, the beans were tasty and the tortilla wasn’t the typically out of the package stiff POS that so many other places in the airport have. All and all — a damn good food place to check out in the airport. Get to go if you can! I’ll be back…
