Performance Bicycle

I am leaving a poor review not on the shop overall, but based on one of the sales associates. While shopping for a helmet, Rafael (the sales associate) walked himself and 3 men in front of me without excusing them or apologizing. There is limited area to look at the helmets and only one mirror. I was standing there actually trying on helmets. It was beyond rude and made me feel less than because I am a woman and insignificant to him. The worst part was he never even asked me if I needed any help or had any questions.
I do want to note that after the rude sales associate vacated the area, a second sales associate came by and offered his assistance. He was very nice and very helpful! The store was clean, they had good prices, and a good selection.

Ask for Richard! He was super helpful in getting my bike fitted and sharing some tips for a long rides. The store has a liberal prices, I will definitely come back to this place.

I bought an inexpensive bike awhile back thinking I could take advantage of many beautiful parks in Houston. But I could never find a perfect weather to go anywhere. My bike just sitting there collecting dust. Then, I found some trainers at Performance Bicycle that were priced right. I was excited to see my road bike become a stationary bike to ride indoors.
The salesman was somewhat helpful. I found a cheapest one. When I took my merchandise to the check out, cashier Angela gave me more information about how to use it to additional accessories to hold the bike still while riding. Well, I didn’t know there are magnetic type and fluid type. I chose to try the cheaper one.
When I was preparing my room for this setup and I realized my room was too small. So, I had to return the trainer. Instead of getting all my money back, I decided to buy a helmet. I figure I need a headgear when I join the riding club store provides.
Once again, Angela provided me great service by showing different colors, styles and the new MIPS (Multi-​directional Impact Protection System) to protect my brain. She also showed me the differences between road biking and mountain biking helmets. I was looking for one with visor on top and plenty of vents in the back. She brought more from other display aisle, too. I was little heartbroken with the only orange style being so expensive.
As I was contemplating on my selections, salesman Walt came to sell me their top of the line helmets. I was a little uncomfortable for him to talk me out of getting the less expensive models and downplayed on the comfortable ones I already picked out. I didn’t want to be rude, so I decided to try all he recommended. He walked away and back to complain about me opening all boxes and I might mixed them in wrong boxes.
Wait, was it my job to pick them from the shelves and trying to find correct sizes? I considered him rude and not helpful as he acted like a boss. Please learn from Angela on how to provide good customer service.

Came in here because I had a few questions. I don’t own a bike and had to ask. Staff made me feel like a complete idiot for asking anything. He repeatedly said that once I started riding I would know the answer to all of the questions I was asking. Maybe it was because I came in 10 minute til closing. Anyway won’t be back

Mark and Jonathan are great guys! Walked in with pedals that I could not get off and they made it look easy. Would highly recommend.

Over the years Performance has gone through the highs and lows. Seems like they are sticking around which is a good thing. Better than your average LBS since their stuff is consistent and you know what to expect. I like to load up on tubes and C02 and the occasional impulse purchase like lights, new gloves, vest, socks, reflectors, oh hell wheelsets, rim tape, polar bottles. You get the picture. Dig into their bargain bins there is always a pair of shoes mountain or road that I tend to pick up. Keep up the good work Performance, stay in business.

I purchased my first road bike from this location. I was uneducated but the guys at performance bikes treated me like I was family. They didn’t over sell me and took a consultative approach to figure out my individual needs. Hey have an amazing sale every year for performance bike members. Its 29.99 per year but I received 600 in free merchandise.

Purchased upon my second visit. First time around I was only looking around and asking very surface-​level questions about different types of bikes as I am a beginner. Josh was very helpful. I knew I would be back to buy at a later time. Upon my second visit, I found myself hoping the same fellow was available to help me make my final decision. Josh was, again, very very helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and had a comforting sense of humor. I will definitely be back for more equipment! He helped ensure I was all set for bike maintenance and saving as much as possible on future purchases. I also feel good about my buyers anxiety if I ever feel I need to return the bike. I definitely recommend any shoppers (novice-​avid) ask for Josh’s assistance! He’s super awesome!

My son is looking to train for the MS150. We know very little about road bikes. Josh at the westheimer location spent the time that we needed. Josh is knowledgable and very patient and answered all of our questions (and we had a LOT of questions). You could tell he has been biking for a long time and provided a lot of input from his own experience. Performance bikes has the best return, exchange and price match guarantee!!! Bike barn policy and pricing sucks!

I just bought a Fuji road bike and the staff there was very helpful and insightful. I joined their rewards club and got credit towards other things I needed for the bike. I even use the credit online to order from their site. I wish it was closer to where I live but worth the drive for quality and insight. Thank you PB!

They just turned away my business because they are closing early to do inventory. Guess I will take my business to REI. Most places do inventory after hours. I was really looking forward to doing their Saturday morning rides. Super disappointed!

I had been wanting a bike and my BF wanted to buy me one for my birthday so we checked out Performance. We were greeted immediately and helped by an associate. She was very pleasant, upbeat and knowledgeable. I finally found a bike I liked and they even let me ride outside before making a decision. My size was not in stock so the bike had to be ordered. It took about 10 days to get it, but it was near the Christmas holiday so they were busy.
When I went to pick up the bike, I gave my name and they just handed it to me and walked away. I then got on the bike and realized the seat was too high. So I had to ask how do you adjust the seat? Granted I hadn’t been on a bike in 30 years so they have changed a lot since then so I had a lot of questions. They didn’t even offer to give me a tutorial on the fundamentals of the bike or ask me if I had any questions. I thought the bike would come with a manual, but it didn’t.

Wanted to share a great experience I had at this bike shop. My bicycle was having issues and I thought it was a part that needing replacing. The mechanic took the time to test ride my bike and determined it was not a bad part just a loose wheel. He could of just ordered the part and charged me money to make the repair but he fixed the issue and did it on the house! Wonderful to see that kind of integrity and experience such great customer service. Very impressed!

Jonathan and crew were great. Knowledgeable, friendly, funny. Didn’t try to sell me something I didn’t need. Repaired my old bike for $ 27.19! Gave tips. Treated me like I just paid $ 1,999.99. If you are in the the market for a high end bike it would be my first and last stop.

My girlfriend has been wanting to get into biking, so that we can ride/​train together. I’ve been a regular customer of Performance for a while, so I decided we should go there first. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by one of the employees, George, who was immensely helpful in determining the right bike for her. We already had an idea of what we were wanting, so that made it a bit easier. He made sure to take his time and showed us several bikes to see which one was the right fit for her. About an hour after we got there, we walked out with a brand new Fuji. I’ve always had good experiences with shopping at Performance, and this trip just reaffirmed my faith in the store and their excellent customer service.

It’s been a long time since I went in a bike shop and received that mom and pop service we once experienced. Today we went to Performance to purchase a bike I looked at last week. Not only did the associates remember us, they remembered the bikes we were interested in and where we worked. They went out of their way to help. When faced with a slight service failure with installation hardware, they went above and beyond to assure our satisfaction. This was a great experience and we will be back!

Jonathan rocks! Best bike service ever. Super friendly, super helpful – perfect customer service. There are 20 bike shops closer to where I live but his attitude and expertise has won my loyalty. Thanks man

Awesome customer service, really helpful and despite the small store they carry all the essential things to a cyclist. Ask for Jonathan or Josh. They helped me out today and they were extremely professional and friendly, would recommend this store to any one want to get a new bike or service his bike

Extremely good service. Despite having a small staff, I was able to be helped and assisted immediately. At first, I walked in needing new tires, but I didn’t really know which tires to get. The people there gave me advice but also told me that I should just bring the bike here so they could install them for me.
I came home and brought the bike with me. I had new tires and tubing installed (my bicycle was extremely damaged– I wouldn’t be surprised if I needed a new bike all together, hahah). The service was fairly quick and the staff seems to be really friendly. The person fixing my bike also adjusted a few other things, cleaned the gears, and added lube free of charge.
The store itself is actually smaller than I thought it would be, but it has various bicycle gear all reasonably priced. I’m not a professional biker or anything, but they have all the equipment that you would probably need if you are biking seriously. As a person who bikes for fun, I sort of thought the biking shirts were ridiculously priced, but that really isn’t my field of expertise so I can’t comment on that.
Overall the place is quick, friendly, and has a nice feeling to it and I’ll probably return if I have anything I need regarding my bicycle.

I was served very well. They know their bikes very well too. Just ask for David and you will be fine.
Tip. Buy your bike before you need it. They might need to order a boke online for you.
