I have only dined at PAD’s for their famous Sunday brunch. As all of the others reviews have stated, the all inclusive and all encompassing $ 25 brunch is unbeatable! Included are bottomless mimosas(regular orange, peach, pomegranate), an assortment of Cajun style soul food: fried fish, fried chicken, waffles, baked chicken, pork chops, bacon, sausage, greens, potatoes, grits, beans & rice, and green beans. Also, the dessert table includes individual slices of pies, cakes, and homemade peach cobbler that is to die for. March 20, 2016 was their last Sunday brunch at their Bammel location. I was told they were relocating to the Midtown area however, I haven’t gotten any word on the exact location or the reopening date. Does anyone have any information on this?

Monday night Jazz Jams are a fun way to end a mundane Monday. Food is always delish! Southern Soul food– yummo! The fried chicken and catfish are my favorites! The atmosphere is very chill and the dimmed lights and sultry sounds of the sax definitely help. Prices are extremely reasonable. I have yet to try the brunch but reading the reviews on the bottomless mimosas make me want to go asap!

Called the place early to make a reservation. As a student of the hospitality industry with a verified chef as my guest(it was our first time) I am absolutely appalled at the interior, and the service and the organization of management. When I called them this morning, craving a mimosa and omelette and good service for my friend, the machine told me to leave a message I order to make a reservation. I did that, left a name and phone number and time when I would arrive. However when we arrived 15 minutes prior to my reservation, we were told to stand and wait. 3 people asked us to wait to be seated. Then a man approached us and said they don’t take reservations. However I saw 2 empty tables, a four top and a two top. Needless to say. This place has deteriorated from 5 years ago when I was a weekly investor in this place of business. will not ever return!

Starting this review a little tipsy but I want to be able to get everything off of my mind! This restaurant is located in the greenway/upper Kirby area in a cute house turned restaurant. We were celebrating my boyfriends birthday so we thought this would be the perfect place to start his morning. I would suggest calling ahead on Sunday’s so reserve a table but the wait wasn’t bad and we were still able to begin sipping mimosas — with options for orange, peach and pomegranate juice — as we waited. Our waiter was great and the epitome of southern hospitality. Everything at the buffet was good and fresh! I constantly saw people replenishing the food and it was scooped up just as quickly :) my favorite was probably the catfish and the carrot cake. I can’t wait to come back again.

Unfortunately… I don’t have anything good to say about this place. Which is why I procrastinated on leaving a review. I was invited here and came by Unilocal to check out what was to be said about this establishment, and by all the positive reviews I was eager to come here. I came on October 3rd. Upon coming here I was told this place fills up quick so we made reservations prior and arrived on time. We got our seats and waited for the rest of our party to arrive. Sadly no one in our party brought a bottle to this BYOB, so we were subject to what was on the menu. I believe that was 3 choices in beer, some wine selections, and a choice of margarita or daiquiri. I’m sure this is partially why I did not enjoy my time here. We all chose to go with the $ 25.00 buffet, and to say that the food was mediocre would be an understatement. The gumbo had shrimp with the shells still on the shrimp. The cheese grits… had hardened and were inedible. There were chicken and waffles, of which were cold. Also there were beans and rice and greens too. I ate what I could and was ready to leave. My party had come for a nice dinner, music and conversation, but once the music started there was no way we could hear one another speak. As the music was extremely loud. This is an account of my experience here. Personally I will never come back, nor would I recommend this place to anyone else.

You looking for a spot to enjoy some food and good music on a Sunday this is for sure a good small spot. The food is delicious but the mimosas just kept coming! It’s pretty small and the wait for 3 people was 45 minutes but it was worth wait. Would for sure come back again!

***UPDATE***** This WAS my favorite Sunday Brunch contender. You can’t beat this deal: $ 25 buffet + bottomless mimosas(and these are GOOD mimosas. After two you’re feeling friendly and free, haha!) BUT…the secret is out. It is damn near impossible to eat here on a Sunday unless you arrive when they open the doors at 11. My last experience pushed me over the edge. I arrive with a party of 3 around noon and waited 2 hours while I watched larger parties get seated before me. I was among a sea of many equally upset and disgruntled customers. It was complete chaos. We left after a 12 top that arrived AFTER us was sat. Luckily, they will serve you mimosas while you wait to take the edge off, but it didn’t help this time. This is a great restuarant and a fabulous brunch… but it’s time for them to move to a larger location.

This is the place to be for brunch on Sundays. The buffet is extensive and delicious and the mimosas are bottomless. All this comes with a modest price tag of $ 24.00. I mean what else is there to say??? Now depending on the size of your party, there may be a wait. I went with a rather large group, and it took relatively 30min for us to be seated.

Brunch brunch and more brunch! I love going here on Sundays for brunch. A large selection of good olé soul food. I loved fried catfish and a good buffet so this is it. The line can be crazy when it opens at 11. The place is large but a weird design. Its an old beautiful home and the layout is weird for the Sunday brunch. It can get very cozy in there so be prepared. If you don’t like lots of people in tight spaces I don’t recommend. There’s an omelet station and a huge buffet of grits, catfish, greens, gumbo, red beans and rice, sausage, etc. The mimosas come in three different flavors and are damn good. The service is friendly and family owned. I like it and would go back for sure. The buffet line can be lengthy and you will wait about 7 – 10 minutes in line to get food. They try to keep it refilled but its tricky. There’s also a dessert bar with cakes and peach cobbler.

I went on a Friday night while visiting Houston. The entertainment was wonderful… Robert Allen Berry has a new fan! There is a buffet and it looked amazing, but I had already eaten. So note to self – go with an appetite next time. We did order wings and sweet potato fries that were pretty good. I look forward to visiting Phil and Derek’s the next time I visit Houston.

This place is AMAZE-BALLS! Took my parents for brunch & they LOVED it! The cheese grits, fried chicken, smoked salmon, gumbo… OMG! Everything was delicious… not to mention the humongous glasses they use for the mimosas. Don’t think I’ve ever tasted a pomegranate mimosa so… refreshing…lol I will spread my good reviews to all that will listen!

I love this place. I came here on a Sunday and had a wonderful time. The wait was pretty long(about an hour and a half) but the bottomless mimosas sure did help. The house is kind of small, but I spoke with the owner and she said that they are moving to a new location to accommodate all the foodies. On Sunday. You had a choice of buffet or the ordering from the menu, I did the buffet for 25 bucks and I think it was well worth it. The food was AMAZING. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. The atmosphere is nice too. Every one is really friend and it gives a nice chill vibe. The music is also pretty good. Cant wait to go back!

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. I went there for Sunday brunch and was blown away at how good the food was. Especially the greens! Yes, they do offer bottomless mimosas which comes in three different favors. If your table is not ready when you arrive, you are welcomed to indulge in the mimosas. The restaurant is set up like a buffet style so you can go get as much food as you want. They offer chicken and waffles, greens, gumbo, bacon, sausage and even an omelette station! I would recommend that you make a reservation ahead of time or get there at 11 am if you want a table. This place is pretty small and will get packed quick. I arrived at 11:12 and still had to wait at least 20 – 30 minutes for a table. Overall, I will be back!

I may have gone in with my expectations way too high. Went for the first time for Sunday brunch in the food was just okay. There were some good and some bad. The fried chicken and fish were very good but the greens were not so great. The waffles tasted and felt like a sponge and the red beans and rice tasted like Busch’s baked beans and rice mixed together. The gumbo tasted solely of Tabasco sauce. I did like the atmosphere although it got a bit cramped with the crowd, but I didn’t mind too much. Overall it was decent and I’m willing to go back for maybe dinner just in case this time was a fluke.

The Sunday brunch is well worth the $ 19.99. Included are unlimited mimosas(even while you wait for a table), an omelet station, dessert bar, and the main food line. The main food line consists of waffles, french toast, fried chicken wings, fish, collared greens, gumbo, and red beans and rice.

I went here with someone on a date on a Friday night. They had live R&B music and the cover was $ 10. The setting was very nice and intimate. They had their $ 15 buffet. I went with the catfish dinner with a caesar salad and so did my friend. The fish was very fresh and seasoned to perfection. There were several live artists that night I don’t know their names but there were 2 women and 1 man. They all had great vocals and I would return to hear them again.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a good brunch… main criteria being bottomless mimosas. After a Google search, he found Phil and Derek’s and we were impressed to find out they have a Sunday brunch buffet for $ 24, including bottomless mimosas. We pulled up Sunday around 12:45pm and the place was very crowded… it’s a one story house with a wrap-around porch for guests to mingle on and enjoy a mimosa while they wait. That’s right; the host kindly told us to order a drink from the bar before we were seated(included in the all-encompassing price of $ 24.00) … it made the wait very enjoyable and ensures you get the most bang for your buck. They offered three flavors: peach, pomegranate, and regular orange. The pours were fat and they were very good. The buffet was out of this world. Best collard greens I’ve ever tasted, easily. Fried fish, shrimp and sausage gumbo, chicken and waffles, green beans, cheesy grits, and red beans and rice are just a few of the other choices I can remember off of the top of my head. They also had a table dedicated completely to dessert. We split a piece of pecan pie that we enjoyed with coffee(not part of the buffet price, it was $ 2.00/cup but no biggie). We will definitely be back!

Went there for Sunday brunch, and the food was good, more on the soul food, creole red beans and rice dining experience. Now when they advertise bottomless mimosa, that is exactly what you got, I don’t remember a time when my wine glass was empty for more than a minute, the staff zooms in and offer you a refill, and there are three flavors to choose from, peach, orange and pomegranate, all delicious. I will return for the brunch, and also during the week for dinner and live entertainment. A great experience!!!

I’m one who can truly appreciate a down home atmosphere with authentic live jazz and R&B music– along with a glass of wine, of course! Add some good southern cuisine to that and good laaaawd, you got yourself a good ass time which is totally what the Phil and Derek’s experience is all about. This is truly a place that’s just good for the soul! Every now and again, this young soul of mine needs to be revived, which is when you’ll catch me here. The first time I came was on a Friday night. The fact that it looked like we were pulling up to somebody’s house totally threw me for a loop but once we opened the door to go inside, that became an afterthought as I was instantly hit with sights and sounds of live music and people kickin back, eating, drinking and having a good olé time! On Fridays, they feature a live band that sings mostly R&B hits from back in the day. Weekends tend to be more popular which is why it pays to get there early to snag a table in the main room where the band plays because it fills up quick. My most recent experience was on a Monday when I came for Jazz night. Loved everything about it! The crowd is a lot lighter than it is on the weekends and you’re likely to get a good seat in the main area. There is a $ 5.00 cover which goes to the band at the end of the night. The Jazz set kicks off at 8, but the night I was there things didn’t get going until about 8:30. They had a projector behind the band displaying jazz legends from all different eras that went with the theme of music being played for the night, which was kinda cool. The bands feature some great musicians who really take pride in their craft. Gotta love that! The crowd for the most part is an older, mature crowd(40+) with a smaller mix of younger adults. I brought my mom here for Jazz night while she was visiting from out of town and she really enjoyed herself. I made us reservations over the phone the day of, via their reservation line earlier that afternoon and a couple hours later, someone from their office called me back to confirm. The lady was very nice and gave me a full rundown of what to expect for the night. My mom is already looking forward to coming back when she’s in town again! If you come here and don’t try the buffet, shame. on. you. Their southern/cajun style buffet has it all– collard greens, catfish, grits, gumbo, red beans & rice, and chicken & waffles just to name a few. Those greens though– on point!!! They also have a salad and dessert bar. DO try the peach cobbler. You will be in peach cobbler heaven! OMG! As far as drinks, they offer beer and wine but I would advise to take advantage of the BYOB option– cork fee is $ 10.00. With such a unique atmosphere here, it definitely makes the experience that much more personable. Parking isn’t the best, so expect to park alongside the street, as there isn’t an official parking lot. This spot will be a staple for me, especially when I want to hear a good live music set without having to get super fancy. Once you get a taste of what Phil and Derek’s has to offer, you’ll heart this place for sure!
