My husband took me here to eat one day and i ordered steak tips with french fried rice(bo luc lac) and i wish i didnt come. There was only about 6 pieces of meat and cost around $ 12. Rip off.

A great taste and enough seasoning. The staff is so nice and attensive. I love their shrimp fried rice, bbq meat, and fried shrimp cake, and Thai tea. I have tried literally 20+ different Vietnamese restaurants in Houston and yet to find one that can be compared to Phở Kim Kim. As soon as I walk in it’s like a warm feeling environment. I highly recommend going here.

As the introduction of my friends, I went here for lunch because on the way back to China Town in Bellaire. The environment is rather good with views. However, the service was bad. The service was too slow, even though two people(maybe the owner and another waitress) did oderings. No one cared clearing the tables, and after having cleared the tables, still I could smell the smell of fish –sauce. I understand, you guys are short of staff, but at least this is the basic of customer service. The food is not truly Vietnamese cuisine, especially to those who have not experienced Vietnamese food before. I would rather have gone to some Vietnamese restaurants in China Town. Also spring rolls are too dry, and hard to chew. I don’t know why like that. OMG, i don’t want to come back here again. I hope you guys need to be fast in the service. and more good cleaning-up. Thanks

Friends took us here for lunch. It was very tasty. The spring rolls are the BEST ever… the made from scratch peanut dipping sauce was so good I wanted like, a gallon to take home! My dish was so large it could have easily fed 4 people. My only complaint is, that when I order a vegan fried rice… it came with a fried egg! I tried to explain it to our server… he seemed confused. But in any case… other than the egg… the food had a great flavor. Restaurant was clean as well! Lunch combo’s would be great.

Today was my first time having lunch at this restaurant. They didnt disappoint me. The waitress was very kind and attentive. Will be back for sure. Plus, ca phe sua da(condense milk vietnamese coffee) is a must have.

Came here for lunch and although the food is fairly decent for authentic Vietnamese, the service is lacking. For the most part, I usually order my food for takeout on weekdays and occasionally weekends, but if you ever get seated near the door and close to the bathroom during lunch, service is terrible. My food came first and I had to walk to the register to request for water. Wasn’t annoyed cause I didn’t become the hungry monster, lol after a few bites went down my belly, but very disappointed since the waitress didn’t even ask whether I wanted more water instead just handed me the check and walked off 30 minutes into my lunch experience. I’m debating now whether to do lunch here or just order to go from now on. Perhaps the latter and give it some time for them to make some adjustment after this post(fingers crossed)

The ice coffee with condensed milk is typically my favorite, but it is beyond nasty here! Not fresh and chuncky milk things from being old and sitting, i suspect. Had a slightly chemically taste… so disappointed.

The Phở is actually very good here but I have to give it only 3 stars because if you want egg or spring rolls you have to order a full order. They need to work out a combo like other restaurants. They do have a good variety and quality of food but it just makes them a bit more pricy than the other good Phở Noodle places that are in the area. The staff is fast and friendly and here and I struggled with not giving them 4 stars.

My favorite phở place in Houston! I would give it 5 stars if the Vietnamese egg rolls were better. Clean and delicious!

Food was great, staff/owner was very nice and friendly. Got there a little late, but they didn’t mind at all, not to mention the Unilocal discount! Awesome. Will come back.

Ordered the Spring Rolls and Phở Tai Nam. Both were delicious. Soup was flavorful and perfect on this cold winter day. Would highly recommend the food. Had a great lunch.

I went here for lunch today on the recommendation from Unilocalers! I was a bit late(12:20pm). This place was almost packed at that time, however I was quickly seated, given a menu and asked for my drink order. Ice tea FTW! My order(Phở with beef; i forgot the actual name of it, and I wasn’t gonna take out my camera and take a picture of the menu like some dork-D-bag) came out in a timely manner. First thing I noticed was the size of the bowl and the portion of vegetables they serve with it. It was perfect for me. It may not be perfect for a pregnant lady or a person who can eat up two large pizzas in one sitting, but for me, it was great. I will definitely add Phở Kim Kim to my weekly lunch rotation. Lastly, I was alone and I was seated promptly and was asked my order quickly.

The service was great, but they are cheap with their ingredients and plating. I ordered a rice plate with about 5 small pieces of chicken over an over portioned bed of rice. The chicken had a strange crunch to it and I had to order a side of soup separately. The soup had a funky, seafood smell and taste which I found out later that it wasn’t your typical beef soup you get at most other phở places(they said it was«pork broth». Last thing — the pork spring rolls were almost good but the wrap and meat were dry.

The Phở was do delicious. I have the house special noodle soup with the filet mignon steak. The beef broth was so good by the time I leave it was empty bowl. Eggrolls were another excellent appetizers.

I went during lunch and the place was fairly busy. The interior and staff were nice. Order took longer than what felt normal to come out but it wasn’t a big deal. Had Meatball Phở, Grill Pork Banh Mi and VN Coffee. The Phở and Banh Mi were typical of any other VN restaurant. Size of both were good and they used juuuuuust enough meats. The iced VN coffee did not taste like real Vietnamese coffee. It didn’t have that deep rich taste to it. Overall, I would expect everything else to be very typical. This place wouldn’t survive in Saigon but it works for what and where it is. I’d go back.

We came here about a month ago during our trip to visit my parents in Houston. This place has a rather large menu, although most of the dishes use one of several soup and sauce bases. What we got in particular were bun bo hue and a catfish soup and noodles(I forgot the name). The BBH had pretty good flavor, though not as spicy as I would’ve preferred. However, I drink hot sauce(figurative) and eat off the charts hot at Thai restaurants, so I can’t really fault this place for my unique preferences. It should be plenty spicy for most folks. The catfish soup base was exceedingly sweet, however. It was kind of off-putting. Perhaps some more salt would’ve balanced it out? A couple of notes in particular: 1). We didn’t get the typical selection of herbs that most Vietnamese places serve up with their phở’s and other soup noodles. That was disappointing. We only got mint and no basil or cilantro. Maybe they have specific set of herbs for specific soups. 2). The soups were not very hot. Perhaps this is done to minimize lawsuit potential, since scalding hot soup bases can injure patrons. The problem, though, is that part of the experience of eating phở is that hot temperature. Lukewarm soup does not make a particularly satisfying experience. Even worse, the bean sprouts don’t get«cooked» by the lukewarm broth. Despite the above concerns, I do readily admit that I am a phở snob and hold places up to an exceptionally high standard. This place is probably okay for most folks wanting to experience Vietnamese food. Consider my review a tepid endorsement. Last word: service is definitely very fast and friendly. My only advice for management is to not worry so much about what the typical American patrons want and instead focus on being the best Vietnamese restaurant possible. It’s clear that the staff there can do it. It’s just a matter of willingness.

Went there for lunch around 11:30AM. Some of you might think wow that’s early he he lunch in EC starts at 11AM, so I was a bit late. Some good places would be completely out of space by 11:15. Ok the place was pretty empty, may be 5 tables busy. I ordered grilled pork and grilled chicken bahn mi. Both were just meh. The mayo and pickled carrots, the most important ingredients that make bahn mi taste so unforgettably addictive were not the way they should be. Nom Nom and Cali are muuuuuch better! Also ordered specialty phở. It was ok. I think I’ll pick some other phở place next time.

Never get bored with the food here even though I usually eat here. It’s time to update my review! What I love, and maybe the best, is the waitstaff. It will be much better if they can have wine/beer for dinner time :) Yup, Phở Kim Kim now get a 5-star-review from me!

I’ve been driving by Phở Kim Kim since they started construction a few months back and was excited to see a Phở Shop opening in the area. Today I visited for the first time, and probably the last time. With the Vietnamese population in Houston we’ve become accustom to nothing but the best in our Phở Shops and we have plenty that I consider«Excellent.» Unfortunately Phở Kim Kim falls way short of mediocre when it comes to Phở Shops in Houston. The Shrimp and Pork spring rolls were room temperature at best. Must smaller with less filling than average and the pork was tasteless. Served with the traditional peanut sauce as usually, but again this condiment was lacking as well. Even the Sriracha couldn’t help this sauce! At $ 3.50 for 2, I was expecting much more. I’m use to paying $ 2.25−2.75 at most Phở Shops and the size and quality is much better that Phở Kim Kim offered. On to the Bun… I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong Chi Gio,(Charcoal Grill Pork and Egg Rolls) at $ 9.25. The vermicelli was not the typical thin white rice noodles your use to at Phở Shops, they were thicker and apparently were made with brown rice or something else. The bowl had a limited about of Pork and vegetables(lettuce, carrot and cucumber) along with two Vietnamese Egg Rolls, served with a very mild fish sauce. Thankful the Egg Rolls were excellent, otherwise the bowl would have been a total loss. My guest had the Bun Thit Nuong(no Egg Rolls) at $ 7.95, and received a much heather portion of pork. You would have thought with the higher price price on the Bun Thit Nuong Chi Gio you would have received the same portion of pork and the Egg Rolls would have been in addition to the pork. I get the same dish at Don Café for $ 6.75 and the quality is 10 times better. Service was the strongest suit at Phở Kim Kim; the staff was attentive and responsive, but good service is not enough. If you are regulars at Café Don, Phở Saigon, Le Grival, V Bistro, Phở Hy, Mai’s, Le Viet and etc., you will be sorely disappointed in Phở Kim Kim. I so wanted Phở Kim Kim to be good because it’s conveniently located for lunch. But, I’ll just have to wait until I get back into Houston or Chinatown to get the good stuff.

I ordered the chicken phở and grilled chicken springs rolls. The rolls were good and the phở was okay. I don’t put any sauces into my phở so the broth flavor is important to me. Employees were cool.

As a Rookie at Unilocal, just find out the check in offer. this is a great feature. I went and check in and save all the restaurant that offer the check in discount. By the time for me to check out, could not find the coupon offer at all in my iPad. The waitress was nicely apply my check-in 10% offer anyway. Phở soup was so delicious.

So I happen to drive by this place a few days ago & realized it was open as well. On Saturdays my job buys us lunch from a place of our choosing. I choose this place hoping to receive some goodness. Well as much as I wanted to like this place it just was not the case. I choose the tofu vermicelli bowl spicy which it was not & I figured id try a bahn mi. The vermicelli bowl was ok. Not great & not terrible just mediocre. Lacked flavor & veggies were not as fresh as id like to see. Bahn mi was bland, bread lacked any flavor, felt like was eating cardboard. Not pleasant. Veggies in the sandwich had a good taste. Just about the only good thing in that sandwich. Hate to say it but I will not be back for round two. Ill stick with my spot phở tan an

It’s finally open! I live a minute away from this restaurant, I’ve been waiting for it to finally open. I was a little skeptical about the place because every restaurant that started in that exact location didn’t do too well. I was looking for a small light meal for lunch and I ran into this restaurant on Unilocal with the picture of grand opening on the thumbnail. I was surprised that it’s been open and I didn’t even know. I’ve always passed it on my way home, maybe didn’t catch my attention. So I ordered to go over the phone and it was neat that they have the full menu on the Unilocal site, makes it easier instead of going through all the pictures and then clicking the website because there’s no menu, then having to download the pdf menu because the one on the site doesn’t have prices… I can go on and on… lolz but man when I ordered the gentleman who took my order said 10 mins for pick up. I was surprise, service is usually longer than that. Anyways I went to pick up the food, the parking lot is funny to me because I parked where I thought was the front of the store, but there was a sign on the door with an arrow pointing to the next door. I walked to the side of the building past the patio to enter. It made me laugh because when I drove up I notice a lot of cars in the front of the building but it seemed that, that was the overflow from the other restaurant next door. I went in paid, and got my food like they said 10 mins. I took the food home, thai tea tasted awesome; but drink portion was small for what they charge. I ordered the fried calamari and it came in a big to go box, there were at least 12 pieces, and came with another small to go box of white rice. I ordered my dad this vermicelli noodle soup and specifically asked the gentleman to make it not spicy and he said he would take it off. Well it came spicy. I’m glad my dad was okay with it but man, imagine if someone didn’t want it and took it home and wasted their money… Overall this restaurant had a great atmosphere, food a little over price for a regular phở but food was good. I would definitely come back.

Been here twice. Service was excellent, the place was very clean, atmosphere was pleasant and of course the food didn’t let down. I had the phở tai the first day which is my ultimate favorite of vietnamese food. Food was served extremely fast as well. no complaints here and I’ll be back for more. Hopefully I can try more items offered on the menu. :) The menu is vast, so it won’t be an easy task to eat everything.
