Delicious! The portion size for small was just right, able to eat it in one meal. I tried the chicken phở(phở ga) and my friend got beef, both were really great.

Not as good as the one in downtown. Lots of meats but not fresh at all. Broth wasn’t as flavorful and with lots of msg!!! We had stomach indigestion for couple days.

So, I keep meaning to try other things at Vietnamese restaurants, but I always come back to the same things: Phở Tai, shrimp spring rolls, and café du sur. These are my staples. This is a solid phở spot. The broth is flavorful and rich, and just the right temperature(not boiling, but not tepid). The spring rolls were fresh, and were perfectly good with the peanut sauce. The café du sur was refreshing and not bitter. Here they drip the coffee directly into the condensed milk. So you need to give it a good stir before you pour it over ice. All this for $ 12. What a steal. Do keep in mind, it’s Chinatown, so your waiter speaks limited English, and will on be around every so often. The busboys do come around more often to fill your water glass, but they don’t speak much English either. But simple words and gesturing do the trick.

Very good and fresh with nice portion sizes. Fast service and clean dining room. Vietnamese spring rolls(number 1) for appetizer and a small number 11(beef phở) is more than enough food for one person. Especially good in cold weather!

I really love phở. I am from Japan. Japan is a country of Ramen. It was hard for me to find Ramen noodle restaurant. But I met Phở. Now, I love phở. I love this restaurant. The restaurant is located in the center of ‘Little Vietnam” in Houston. There are statues of soldiers during Vietnam war at this shopping mall. The restaurant is not crowded like another location in the old Vietnamese area, Milam. Phở is very chear.$ 5– $ 7. I like Vietnamese coffee. Here is my favorite place in Little Vietnam, Houston.

Good phở(have had better at other places). Pretty good egg rolls as well. What I liked about this place was the speedy delivery of my order(my food arrived in under 5 min — no joke!), and the nice service I received today(this is very rare when in Bellaire). I would come here again.

3.5 stars. This is a clean and good-looking establishment compared to other phở«dives» along Bellaire Chinatown — a bonus in its own right. I came here for phở(why else, with a name like Phở Saigon?), and I thought it was good. But the problem is, there’s so many Vietnamese places in Bellaire Chinatown, and frankly, the phở in many of those places are just as good. But maybe I don’t have a discerning taste for phở. I got the seafood phở, and asked them to remove the imitation crab(who needs that junk anyways?) and the squid(which is your typical criss-crossed-sliced pieces of squid that you find often in Chinese squid dishes). So basically I got the shrimp and fish balls phở, and they were decent. The fish balls were fried and small though, and my small bowl(which you know is frankly kind of large) only had 3 shrimps whereas a large bowl someone else ordered in the table had 4 shrimps. I thought they could add a bit more of the seafood into the bowl, but the flavor is on point, with a tasty broth. Is this the best(seafood) phở place I’ve had to date in Houston? No — that would be inside Hong Kong City Mall. Would I return to eat here? Sure, it’s by no means bad, and they have other Vietnamese dishes in the menu as well. And they are all affordable. As for service — more than one person refilled our cups in a timely and frequent manner. They were also quick to maintain the cleanliness of the establishment. I can’t complain.

This place has been on the steady decline for years now with all the competition near by. I started coming to this store about 10 years ago and it has changed owners atleast 3 times. The soup quality varies from day to day, and could be from over loaded with MSG to less flavor than the yellow stone geysers. This place has lesser and lesser customers each time I stop by which is about once every 6 month now. Summarizing– this is Asia’s Phở In the Box. I know they are a franchise, so who knows if the recipe will ever get changed. And surprisingly, the same named restaurant in Sugarland taste very good.

I tried phở for the very first time here the other day. It was pretty good! I got the Phở tai Bo Vien(beef noodle soup with eye round steak and beef meatballs). Mmmm, the meat was good! And since it’s been cool/cold in Houston lately, that’d be perfect to warm up with. My dad ordered the Banh Mi Bo Kho(French bread with beef stew). OMG, that was even better. The broth was tasty as hell! I am a fan of this place. :)

I have frequented Phở Saigon off of Bellaire several times and it never left a great impression. Recently, we ordered Phở to go and I was extremely disappointed! The broth was consumed in a layer of thick oil that could not be scooped with a spoon and had a very light hint of broth… I had to add salt into the broth and even then it lacked taste. The cuts of meat for the Phở was above average though, so i’ll give them that. Probably won’t be going back with all the other Phở restaurants in Chinatown.

I have been looking for a decent Phở place in Houston and between Phở Saigon and Phở Hung on Bellaire, I think I have found the perfect broth/meat combination! The broth is fragrant and has depth in flavor. I recommend an extra«chien bo vien.» It’s extra meatballs in the broth. Phở dac biet is the special. If you are not as adventurous then the Phở tai would be a good choice. Spring rolls and egg rolls are great for appetizers. Café sua da would be the Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Strong and great for a hangover morning…

A solid 3.5 stars for this hidden Phở place. I went here recently with some family when my father said«I want a noodle soup». He’d never had Phở before, so I thought that might fit the bill. We drove up on a Friday night to find the place mostly empty. When we walked in we were overwhelmed by a very loud Christmas TV show being shown on one of the TV’s. I eventually had to ask them to turn it down, I felt like I was at a bar and had to yell over the music. The Vietnamese egg rolls were unusual but good. They come in smaller orders than I am used to and they have seafood in them. The spring rolls were good, we had them with no shrimp so they added extra pork. Our food came out quickly. I had the grilled pork over vermicelli which was quite tasty. I had asked for it without mint but they didn’t seem to be able to do that. My father enjoyed his Phở. Overall the quality of the food was good, the price was cheap, the food came out quickly, but I’d like to have more attentive service. I know… it’s in Chinatown and I shouldn’t expect decent service, but I do. I shouldn’t have to beg for another glass of water. I’d go here again, especially because the price is right, but I’d have to be in a patient mood or come prepared with my own bottle of water. Oh and they need to light their sign at night. We had a heck of a time finding this place because their sign has no lighting.

This is my second time here within a week. The first time I came here, I wasn’t in the mood for phở, so I got the com thit nuong cha gio instead. I wasn’t too fond of it. It was just regular rice. they gave a good amount of meat, but I just really didn’t care for it. The eggroll was meh as well. Today, I had a small bowl of phở tai. It tasted pretty decent. I like places that gives you the option of a small or large bowl b/c I really don’t want to pay more than what I can eat and then waste it all. Small bowl $ 5.25 and large for 5.95 I think? Great price. Soda chanh muoi here is decent… their sam bo luong wasn’t all that great. It didn’t even have any barley in it! Really I can’t tell the difference what good phở tastes like since I drown it with hoisin and sriracha. Lol But I think it’s pretty decent.

Oooh man this place was SO close to getting 3 stars… they are so lucky the food was ‘just’ good enough to sway my rating. Warning: do not come here for the service(especially if you don’t speak Vietnamese). You will just get mad, as I did. I have a lot of tolerance(and experience) with most Asian restaurants in terms of the language-barrier and the restrained-style of service. I have been up and down china town and had my fair share, hehe. But tell me why we had two servers who wouldn’t give us 2 minutes to look over the menu! I felt so rushed to order and asked our waiter(s) to come back at least 5 times. Unacceptable. If there’s anything I hate, it’s being rushed to order and eat. The service was so cold and unfriendly. Thank God the food was just the opposite. To start, we ordered Vietnamese eggrolls. They are decent, but generic. I had to ask the waitress for plates to eat on and she looked at me like I was crazy. My dad ordered chargrilled pork and vermicelli bowl while I ordered phở. The chargrilled pork here is D-E-Licious! Not dry and cold like most places I“ve been to. They weren’t stingy either. There was a good amount of meat, hehe again. My phở was good, except I noticed a weird unidentifiable smell and taste in the broth. There was some sort of awkward aftertaste, but it was still tastier than most phở I’ve had. There was also a substantial amount of meat in the phở. Overall, I’d come back again but only for the chargrilled pork, and it would probably be to-go. If you don’t mind a side of shotty service with your thit nuong, then I guess this is the place to be.
