Pilgrim Cleaners

The two ladies were nice, but there must be something wrong with their business. First time being there to clean my IKEA sofa cover, I was told one piece would cost 6 dollar some, so my two pieces sofa cover would be 13 to 14 dollars (including tax). But when i picked them up, it came to $ 60 a piece, total $ 136.4! That could be a chance i misheard 6 and 60, it could not be the case to mis-​heard 13 and 130. Ridiculous! What makd me more sure it is their business fault is that the lady told me the clean items were priced at the plant, the store won’t know the price when items were accepted. Nothing in their place was as low as $ 6. And they had no price chart to show custom the price. I wish i have read the review before i sent my stuff there. Sigh…

How is this place still in business??? TERRIBLE! This is my first horrible, traumatizing dry cleaning experience. I should of checked Unilocal before going! I dropped a blazer and dress. The blazer material is now messed up and they did not even get the stains out! AND they tore a whole in my dress!!! Glenda was extremely rude and made me pay for it! I am furious! Now I have to take it to my tailor and hope he can work a miracle on it. As for the blazer, I need to continue on my search for a neighborhood dry cleaners. I was going to call and complain to management about the situation but looking at the other Unilocal reviews, management does not care at all. The only thing this cleaner has going for it is the location.

nice staff, but over priced. 7.45 to dry clean a dress shirt, and it came back wrinkled. terrible. dont go. cute place down the street on bissonet towards shepherd. cardinal cleaners. so far they seem good. 4 shirts. $ 10.

Avoid this place at all costs. They are over priced and the customer service is pathetic. They do not follow instructions and could care less if they mess up your cloth. I will never go back.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I had 3 pieces of clothing: one pair of shorts, a long sleeve business shirt, and a t-​shirt. My bill was over 20.00! This was with a coupon. I WAS NOT TOLD that the t-​shirt would cost me $ 10.67. This was more than the t-​shirt cost. I was floored when these pieces have cost me no more than $ 5.00.

OMG! Dropped of 7 pieces, 5 button up shirt and 2 sweater for the first time, and was in no rush to pick it up. A few days later came to get my clothes, and why in the hell did it come up to $ 50! Totally was floored, did not expect that! The lady said I should’ve check the price before putting in my clothes. Excuse me, I wasn’t expecting high way robbery prices for simple clothes cleaning! Never going back!

OK, so here it goes my story…
I had at least 10 pieces to dry clean and also a pair of shoes that I wanted to be fixed, I recently moved to the Rice/​Medical Center area and driving on Kirby I saw that Pilgrim could fix shoes and do dry cleaning, so I decided to bring my stuff there. I assumed they will have a good service and I DIDN’T CHECK Unilocal BEFORE going to drop off my stuff. Anyway I go on a Tuesday and I was there at 6:05 and they were closed then my husband went on Wednesday morning then a little after he completed the drop off he ask me why I wanted to do my dry cleaning here, I said only because I wanted to avoid going to 2 places when they could do my shoes and clothes, then he said, well it must have been better to do the 2 places cause the bill is gonna be ~100.00 dollars, I almost faint! and on top of that I have to wait until FRIDAY to get my clothes ready!
This is crazy! I have brought a lot more clothes to other cleaners and NEVER paid more than 60 bucks! and I got them within the next business day, not 2!
I don’t know how they can survive with those prices but I’m even more surprised that there are people who actually pay that! Obviously the first timers like me and my husband but other than that seriously, who will be willing to pay more than 100 bucks for dry cleaning!

So unbelievably overpriced. I dropped my stuff off on Tuesday evening it was not ready until Thurs morning. I was told that I could pick up on Wednesday after 5:00p.
I dropped of 15 items, 8 of which were blouses — $ 170 OUCH!

Just picked up two jackets from this location. Was told they would be ten dollars each when I dropped them off last week. They now wanted $ 11.50 as there was an «up-​charge» of $ 1.50 for the «linings.» I didn’t have to state my case very long before they brought the price back «down» to $ 10. I walked in to another cleaner about 100 yards down the road and they said they would have done the jackets for $ 3.19! Companies that are actively deceptive like Pilgrim do not deserve your business. They certainly won’t be getting mine again.

Ok. I only went to Pilgrims because they had an ad on Groupon if you purchase $ 15 we will dry clean $ 30. But, if I would only have known $ 30 would only cover 4 items. Let me list the prices and let you decide.

Pullover shirt $ 7.75
Pants $ 7.75
Childs Pants (for a 3 year old) $ 4.96
I have been dry cleaning my cloths for over 20 years and have never paid more than $ 40 every two weeks. This one trip costs me $ 92 and that is with a $ 30 discount. WOW…
I read the interview above about how Pilgrims is charging for quality. Rest assured there are dry cleaners doing the same quality as Pilgrims for alot less money.
Lesson learned. I have a second coupon (thanks Groupon, a terrific service by the way), but will not use it. I now know that I can’t afford to dry clean with Pilgrims.

The absolute worst experience I have ever had with customer service. I dropped off my clothes to be cleaned on a Saturday with a woman who had trouble finding the numbers on her computer keyboard. It took her 15 minutes (not exaggerating) to type in my name, address and phone number. I was exasperated after the drop-​off experience because of how slow the process was, but I had no idea what was in store for me.
I went to pick up the items on Tuesday, when they were promised to be ready after 5pm. I was told that 2 of my items were not ready, and they weren’t sure when they would be. On top of that, when they told me the total, it was EXPONENTIALLY higher than any other dry cleaner I have ever been to. I heard that Pilgrim was more expensive, but I wasn’t expecting to pay $ 28 per jacket and $ 11 per pair of pants.
When I asked about the higher prices, the manager told me that they «also have higher quality». Hmm.
When the cashier rang me up, she apparently accidentally put an extra digit at the end of the amount she put on my credit card and charged me over $ 1000. When I noticed (before I signed the receipt, thank goodness), all she said was that it «wasn’t her fault». She continued to say this repeatedly when I asked the manager to come back over and void the transaction. The manager and cashier both did not apologize or offer any reassurance about this mistake or the fact that 2 of my items were not ready.
I will never be back!
