This is a long overdue review. I was there about a year ago to have my brows waxed and my brows and lashes tinted. I chose the place because of the positive reviews here. Well, my appointment was obviously double booked. I was rushed in, not asked any questions and quickly started with the services. While I was waiting on the dye, she ran out and started someone else’s appointment. Good thing I didn’t have a reaction! Never had anyone rush me so much. Well, she also burned my brow during the waxing-that had never happened before either. The service was so rushed. Other than my lovely burn, my brows and lashes only looked ok. She did have time to spend with me when I paid and she tried to get me to make another appointment in three weeks«because they will fade fast«(of course, because it was so rushed.» She also didn’t seem to notice my burn or if she did, didn’t say anything which is also alarming.

Recently had my hair cut and styled here and was so pleased with the results. My stylist, Lisa, was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable and carefully listened to what I needed with my hair. I also really appreciated how she didn’t push any products for me to buy and instead suggested I wait to see how I like the Aveda products first. I will absolutely be coming back to get my hair done here again!

I love coming to this spa! It’s so peaceful and relaxing, honestly, I always fall asleep. Every. Time. Suk is wonderful and always super nice. She’s been the one to do my eyelash perms at every visit and I still can’t get over how amazing they always look after! Thank you Suk! She also does a great job with my eyebrows, which I can never figure out their stupid shape they are completely beyond me but somehow Suk knows just how to work em. This spa is beautiful and in a great location. Parking is never a problem.

over priced! as an Aveda salon I expected so much more. Being new to the salon I thought there would be a consultation, there was nothing. I wanted 2″ off and long layers/texturing. All I got was 2″ off and a simple angle on the front. No real layers. Sadie used her fingers to dry my hair, using no product to protect the hair. I was nervous and rightfully so in hindsight and she just mocked my nerves. I won’t go back and I would recommend anyone looking for a cheap cut to go somewhere cheap.

I’ve been going to Pure Salon Spa for several years now. I loved every haircut that Lisa gave me. She is absolutely brilliant and very personable. And I would never consider going anywhere else for eyebrow shaping, eyelash treatments or waxing. This place is the best!

In October 2012 my mother had major surgery on her neck. She had to get her long hair cut off. She has always worn it long and was very nervous to have it cut. My mother was also in a lot of pain. Sadie was her stylist and she did an amazing job. She was very kind and gentle with her. She also made my mother feel beautiful with her short hair. Now it is February 2013 and we are back. My mother is finally well enough to have her hair done. She insisted that she see Sadie again. And again is very happy. Thank you Sadie for making my 67 year old mother feel beautiful. I would also like to add I got one of the best blowouts I have ever had from Lisa. And Nuk did a great job waxing and tinting my mother’s eye brows(and tinting her eye lashes) The receptionist is such a sweet and helpful young woman as well. A great place to go!

Lisa is a great stylist. I went in after getting three unsuccessful pixie cuts by two other stylists at two other salons. I showed Lisa the same pics previously shown to the other stylists, and she gave me honest feedback on what my hair would and wouldn’t do in regard to those pics and preferred outcome. She did an excellent overall job(shampoo, cut, style), and is very personable, too. I’ve been going to Lisa at Pure Salon for about 18 months now, at about once a month(the joys of short hair). Lisa is fantastic and I highly recommend her!

My mom and I were in town for a wedding so I wanted to go to an Aveda salon, as we use their products. My mom had made an appointment in advance and was apparently misquoted the price by the receptionist. As my stylist, Sadie, felt through my shorter than shoulder-length, recently relaxed hair, she asked me what I wanted done. I told her my appointment was for a wash and style, including a blow-dry, though I didn’t want it styled as in curled or pinned in an up-do, just gone over with a flat iron and curled under at the ends; pretty simple. She told me that it would be at least $ 10+ more than what my mom was quoted. I asked her why, but she wouldn’t give me an answer, just saying that sometimes the price varied based on many things. I didn’t like that, as it wasn’t really an informative answer. My mom overheard and also asked why the price was different than what she was quoted. Maybe if we’d been given an answer, it would’ve been okay, but we weren’t. So Lisa, who was about to start on my mom’s hair, said that we would be charged the price we were quoted. She had to insist this to Sadie, who was clearly unhappy about it. I was shocked at Sadie’s attitude. Lisa did a good job on my mom’s hair, but Sadie rushed through my blow dry(she started using the flat iron when my hair was still damp!) and barely styled my hair at all. This was bad customer service, plain and simple. Money was more important to her than doing quality work. If she’d done a good job, her tip would have reflected that, regardless of the price of the hair service. It is a bad mark on the salon and on the Aveda name!

Whilst cleaning out the kitchen junk drawer I found a gift certificate that was given to me last year. Noticing the expiration date was a week away I called the salon and made an appointment for a pedicure. Pure use to be Natural Concepts located off of Kingsride behind the Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital. About 3 months ago they moved across I-10 in the massive shopping-strip-center in front of HEB. It can be a bit confusing finding anything in this center, the buildings are scattered about like lego pieces left on the floor by your 5 yr old. The helpful receptionist advised«We’re next to 5 Guys» which made it very easy to find as the salon itself is small-ish & the sign easily overlooked. Pure Salon Spa is an Aveda concept salon. This means all products are Aveda except the nail polish. The salon interior is beautiful with high ceilings, lots of wood and a gorgeous mural painted on the back wall. They do not have salon massage chairs and since I am ambivalent about said chairs, it was fine with me to plop down in a rather comfy office type chair. Kris brought out the foot bath which was a large fancy, antique looking bowl with a plastic liner. The water was scented nicely and warmed up my cold tootsies. For $ 30 the pedicure included a leg/foot scrub, hot rocks massage and hot wax treatment for my heels. The pedicure came out beautiful, my feet looked rather pretty and smelled wonderful from the Aveda products used. Overall the experience was soothing and I left ready for a nap. I grabbed a menu on my way out and noticed a manicure & pedicure runs $ 45. Not bad! They also offer hair treatments, body massage, eye lash/brow tinting, facials & waxing.
