Want to relax with some wine(or any alcohol) along with desserts while chatting away with friends you haven’t met in a long time? Then this is the perfect place for you. Actually, you don’t need to meet up with a long forgotten friend to come here. That was an excuse so you don’t have to feel terrible after chowing down on their giant desserts by yourself. The shop is cute with that kind of decors and atmosphere where everything feels like is going right in the world. The desserts they serve you is huge IMO. Sure it was kind of pricey but I thought was worth it. We had the pistachio cheesecake and banana pudding and WOW, that was amazing. The pistachio cheesecake was dense, full of sweetness, and a great dessert for those who love pistachio. I preferred the banana pudding more but only because it was softer and not as sweet. If you’re in the area, I would recommend you to come check out this place to satisfy any sweet cravings. Overall, the service was wonderful and we defiitely fullfilled our carbohydrate requirements for the day.

Based on all the reviews I read, I was really excited to try this place. I was surprised when I walked in to see it so busy on a Wednesday evening. The place is small inside, however, very cute and tastefully decorated. So I came here because I wanted bread pudding for my birthday. Now, I have to say that I am not a big dessert eater, but I love bread pudding so I was really excited to try it. The bread pudding itself was okay. I felt like the sauce really made the dish, but overall, I was not blown away by it. I have had better bread pudding elsewhere. I don’t think I would come back again unless I was I was eating in the area and could walk to it(because parking was a nightmare). And even then, I would not order the bread pudding again. It was worth a try though!

Cozy, nice small coffee shop. I am in love with their croissant bread pudding. They have all types of coffees and their cookies taste delicious. I can’t wait to come back here.

Tried their sprinkle strawberry cupcake and I loved their frosting. Didn’t taste as much chocolate as I was hoping for in the cake itself but it’s okay. I had the caramel latte. I couldn’t taste as much caramel either but the coffee flavor itself was good. I would come here again and try some of their other items :) I love the setting inside. I’d come to meet a friend or two here to have a glass of wine.

I knew I would like Red Dessert Dive when my friends and I asked the pale hipster barista working, «What’s the best flavor of hot chocolate here?» His response: «Why, you’re talking to him right now.» My friends and I ate dinner nearby on a covered patio when it was 40 degrees out and raining, so we wanted to top our bellies off with some hot chocolate because A) we were really, really cold from sitting outside in near-freezing rain(dinner was worth it, by the way), and B) New Year’s resolutions? Pah! We pulled up Red on Unilocal and promptly arrived with the glow of baked goods in front of us — how could we possibly resist picking up a couple of sweets to accompany our hot chocolates? After getting the recommendation to order the barista, all of us got the Valrhona hot chocolate(i.e., fancy hot chocolate), while I opted to pair mine with a salted chocolate chunk cookie — like I said, New Year’s resolutions? Ohohohoho! Geez, the portion size here is generous. I’m not much of a sweets person, but I crushed the hot chocolate and oversized cookie. Super smooth hot chocolate, perfect balance of sweet and salty in the cookie — so much happiness. I also had the pleasure of trying my friend’s debusker(half brownie, half cookie), and yup. It’s very dangerous that Red is less than 10 minutes away from me. If hot chocolate isn’t your thing(what kind of monster are you?), you can opt for coffee/espresso instead. Or beer. Or wine. It’s whatever you’re comfortable with, you know? Regardless of whatever you get, you’ll feel comfy and cozy at Red Dessert Dive — almost like grandma’s house! If grandma served beer or wine alongside her baked goods… Actually, that’d be one cool grandma.

Hey. Hello. Hi! So, what’s going on? Oh really — that’s nice/crappy/interesting/horrid/funny. You know what you should do to celebrate/forget? Shut the front door(and your yammering) and walk, bike, drive, or stumble to this little bakery for a cookie*. They’re pretty damn awesome, just what you need for a happy/pity party. *Or if you are on a gluten free(GF) kick/necessary diet, get one of those offerings. If you do, let me know how they are — I haven’t tried their GF items. They also have non-cookie baked items that aren’t GF.

The bread pudding was amazing! I didn’t care for the smores cheesecake, the marshmallow topping didn’t have much of a flavor to me and the chocolate cheesecake part had random salty bites. The two girls at the counter were awesome and explained everything, gave us recommendations, and gave us fair warning of the strength of the macchiato. Definitely will be back!

The sweets are delish. I didn’t like the quiche but I’ll give them a pass for that. I’ll stick to the French.

The chocolate bread pudding is so good! The little sauce the put on top makes for a moist sweet taste of heaven! Also got the hot chocolate very very good! Fancy little place

I confess. I wasn’t a fan of Red when I tried them for the first time last year. I had their packaged salted brownie(something something… That’s how memorable it was) and red velvet cake… and wasn’t impressed. Fast forward a year and a half later… I have a kid who is allergic to EVERYTHING(including milk, eggs, nuts. you know. All the good stuff). So I am SO delighted to come here now because they have VEGANDESSERTS. Albeit it’s only 3 things: typically a brownie, a cookie, and a muffin(which they always have a lot of). And the vegan brownie is really good! Of course my hypoallergenic toddler loves it and and we have now ruined her. Their lattes are also pretty good. Couple it with a perfectly fluffy yet rich SMORESCHEESECAKE. DYING. The turtle cheese cake is also good but not quite as special as the s’mores rendition.

This place is da bomb! First off, I think this is the BEST coffee in the heights. I had the caramel macchiato and it was devine. Secondly, their desserts are amazing. We got the spiced cake and the pumpkin cheesecake and both were super delish. Service was great and they have the yesterday leftovers box for $ 10 which includes so many great items! Perfect to bring to work as a nice gesture and nobody would even know it was so cheap :) I’ll be back and recommend friends to try it out.

I’ve tried an assortment of desserts here, cakes, banana pudding, bread pudding, cupcakes, etc. they weren’t anything special and a bit overpriced. the coffee drinks, however, were pretty decent and more worth the price! i don’t think i would come back though, unless their desserts improve. very little seating inside.

Pro: coffee is really good! Desserts are decent, moist carrot cake kept me full for a whole day! I would come more often if they are less sweet. Staffs are very nice Atmospheres is perfect for a neighborhood coffee shop. Con: Pricy. AC is insanely low… guess I pay for the food, and electricity. Lol Lot and street parking are both available.

Disappointed tonight. Had a slice of chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and it was not as good as I was expecting. Also it came out to be $ 7! Yes the cake slice was big but it was just OK. We had the debusker and it tasted old. They served it to us as is and it was hard. Asked them to warm it up and it was still hard. It had to have been left overs from the previous nights. I don’t think we will be back again after the bad experience tonight.

Hmm… I hate leaving five stars but I couldn’t find a problem with anything! So the venture out to the heights started with a carb binge I had waiting for all week! Got on Unilocal!and searched for a breakfast spot and turned up with nothing good in my area. Wound up with Red Dessert Dive but the find came with consequences. A long drive and loss of sleep. Let me tell you one thing I’ll sleep less to eat so I woke up two hours early to make it there and get me some kolaches. I ordered the Signature Kolache with cream cheese, bacon, and chive. So delicious! The flavors all just went well together. One thing I have issues with at kolache places is filling to dough ratio. This was 50⁄50. Second one was the spinach, artichoke, and chive. More if an open face kolache but by far the best kolache I’ve ever had. Even better than their signature kolache. I wanted to go back for more but I guess I’ll have to wait til tomorrow. Just kidding! This place sealed the five stars when I took a bite of the chocolate croissant and a sip of the vanilla latte. Small chunks of chocolate in the croissant give you a little chocolate in each bite. You can tell it was made with care. Their vanilla latte has to be the best I’ve had in Houston thus far. Place is clean and faces are friendly! Would I come back. Heck yes! Maybe tomorrow.

Delicious little bakery located in the heights that I stumbled upon when I went to lunch at Ruggles Green next door. I picked up a the debusker, a vanilla cupcake, and a salted valhrona chocolate chip cookie. The cupcakes was fresh light, and flavorful. I loved the frosting, I could see vanilla bean specks, and it was very airy, seemed like a whipped buttercream with maybe a hint of marshmallow fluff? It was great! The debusker was too hard to resist, so I grabbed one, Im sure it will be great. A chocolate chip cookie is always a good idea, so I grabbed one of those too. They serve coffee, and have a small sitting area. Check it out!

I made a trip here one day while shopping after Christmas with my Cousin. Her and I stopped in after a light lunch at a café across the way. I had heard quite a few good things about this little joint, and thought I would give it a try. I have the turtle cheesecake slice. Which in turn brought it home to share with my spouse, and to be honest we both expressed it as just«meh». Don’t get me wrong, I love the Heights area just as much as anyone else in the Houston. However I feel like this place is a little overrated not just in their reviews but in the pricing. I would like to give Red another try as they have a huge selection of sweets, so for now all I can do is 3 stars.

Day 3 of Houston food trip, stop 2. Having just driven in from way up north in woodlands and wanting to try some pastries before hitting the bars, we stopped in at this coffee shop for one purpose, to try the gouda bacon beer bread. It was interesting, but it definitely wasn’t great. The large chunks of bacon were nice, but the gouda was totally lost in the mix and there was some strange spice which we couldn’t place which just came out too strong(Cumin maybe? not sure). It wasn’t as moist of fluffy as it could have been either. Overall, I didn’t care for the beer bread and«I’ve experienced better.»

Delicious and friendly! This place is compact but takes full advantage of the space they have. We stopped in for a post-lunch dessert and it was perfect. The hot chocolate was incredibly rich and smooth. The chocolate bread pudding was the perfect size and the right amount of sweet. The debusker was unusual but really good. The debusker is a dark chocolate brownie with an M&M cookie on top. It’s super rich but really good. I liked the smart use of seating. The place is small but there are several tables as well as bar seating in two places. I was pleasantly surprised to have such wonderful, pleasant service in what appears to be a pretty ‘hipster’ place. Friendly, helpful service. I’ll definitely come back here for desert!
